ਆਨਿਪਰਿਯੋਪਚਮਾਰਸਭਨਸੁਨਿਪਾਇਯੋ॥
ਸ਼ੇਰ ਮਾਰ (ਖੂਹੀ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਡਿਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਇਹ (ਗੱਲ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ।
Ever body heard that the lion killer was there.
ਅਤਿਲਸਕਰਚਿਤਮਾਹਿਸੁਤ੍ਰਾਸਬਢਾਇਯੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰ ਵਿਆਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
The whole (enemy) army was panicked with fear.
ਲੋਹਅਧਿਕਤਿਨਮਾਹਿਭਾਤਿਐਸੀਪਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਹੋ ਗਈ
They started to fight with each other,
ਹੋਜੋਧਾਤਿਨਤੇਏਕਨਜਿਯਤੇਉਬਰਿਯੋ॥੨੫॥
ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਯੋਧਾ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਬਚਿਆ ॥੨੫॥
And none of them was saved.(25)

ਪੂਤਪਿਤਾਕੇਸਿਰਦਈਪਿਤਾਪੂਤਸਿਰਮਾਹਿ॥
ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ (ਹਥਿਆਰ) ਮਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
(In the melee) Even the father killed the son and the son killed the father,
ਇਸੀਭਾਤਿਸਭਕਟਿਮਰੇਰਹਿਯੋਸੁਭਟਕੋਊਨਾਹਿ॥੨੬॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਕਟ ਮਰੇ, ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਨਾ ਬਚਿਆ ॥੨੬॥
And this way they all cut each other and no fighter was left behind.(26)

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਜੁਲਾਹੀ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਈ।
ਆਇਬਾਰਤਾਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਿਜਤਾਈ॥
ਆ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦਸੀ।
Then the weaver-woman came and told the Raja what had happened.
ਜਬਯਹਭੇਦਰਾਵਸੁਨਿਪਾਯੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਭੇਦ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਪਤਾ ਲਗੀ
ਪਠੈਪਾਲਕੀਤਾਹਿਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥੨੭॥
ਤਾਂ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਵਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੨੭॥
When the Raja learned the secret, he sent palanquin and honoured the weaver.(27)(1)

ਚਾਦਨਹੂੰਕੇਦੇਸਮੈਪ੍ਰਗਟਚਾਦਪੁਰਗਾਉ॥
ਚਾਂਦਨ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਂਦਪੁਰ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸੀ।
In the country of Chandan, there was a town called Chandanpur.
ਬਿਪ੍ਰਏਕਤਿਹਠਾਰਹੈਦੀਨਦਯਾਲਤਿਹਨਾਉ॥੧॥
ਉਸ (ਪਿੰਡ) ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੀਨ ਦਿਆਲ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
There used to live a Brahmin priest, whose name was Din Diaal.(1)

ਦਿਸਨਦਿਸਨਕੀਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਵਹਿ॥
(ਉਸ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਕੋਲ) ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ
ਆਇਬਿਪ੍ਰਕੋਸੀਸਝੁਕਾਵਹਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
The woman from various countries came there and paid their obeisance to the Brahmin.
ਸੁਭਬਾਨੀਮਿਲਿਯਹੈਉਚਾਰੈ॥
ਉਹ ਵੀ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਰਤਿਪਤਿਕੀਅਨੁਹਾਰਿਬਿਚਾਰੈ॥੨॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ) ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਲਗਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
All of them used to recite celestial hymns as he seemed to them as the epitome of Cupid.(2)

ਏਕਨਾਰਿਤਿਹਠਾਹੁਤੀਰਤਿਸਮਰੂਪਅਪਾਰ॥
ਉਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਉਤੇ ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਰਤੀ (ਕਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਵਰਗਾ ਸੀ।
There used to live a woman who was embodiment of the Cupid’s consort.
ਸੋਯਾਪੈਅਟਕਤਭਈਰਤਿਪਤਿਤਾਹਿਬਿਚਾਰ॥੩॥
(ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਤੀ-ਪਤੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੩॥
Considering him to be the Cupid, she wrapped herself around him.(3)

ਕਬਹੂੰਤ੍ਰਿਯਤਾਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਵੈ॥
ਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ
ਕਬਹੂੰਤਿਹਘਰਬੋਲਿਪਠਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ।
Now the woman started either to come to him or call him over.
ਏਕਦਿਵਸਦਿਨਕੌਵਹੁਆਯੋ॥
ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਆ ਗਿਆ,
ਤਬਅਬਲਾਇਹਚਰਿਤਦਿਖਾਯੋ॥੪॥
ਤਦ (ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Once, during the day he came and the woman displayed this trick.(4)

ਬੈਠੀਹੁਤੀਸਖੀਮਧਿਅਲੀਨਮੌਦੀਨਦਯਾਲਸੌਨੇਹੁਨਵੀਨੋ॥
ਉਹ ਸਖੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਨਵਾਂ ਦੀਨ ਦਿਆਲ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
She was sitting with her friends and saying that she loved Din Diaal.
ਬੈਨਨਿਚਿੰਤਕਰੈਚਿਤਮੈਇਤਨੈਨਨਿਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਕੋਮਨੁਲੀਨੋ॥
ਬੋਲਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ) ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਕਾਬੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
Although she was conversing sitting there, her mind was at the thought of her paramour.
ਨੈਨਕੀਕਾਲਕੋਬੀਚਲਦੇਖਿਸੁਸੁੰਦਰਿਘਾਤਚਿਤੈਬੇਕੋਕੀਨੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਖੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਿਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
With askance looks she pointed her beautiful (friends) at him,
ਹੀਲਖਿਪਾਇਜੰਭਾਇਲਈਚੁਟਕੀਚਟਕਾਇਬਿਦਾਕਰਿਦੀਨੋ॥੫॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਬਾਸੀ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਚੁਟਕੀ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੫॥
She yawned and with the snap ofthe fingers pointed him to go.(5)(1)

ਮਾਗਤਭੀਖਿਹਮਾਰੇਆਈ॥
ਉਹ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ।
There was a daughter of a Jat, the peasant, she came to us for begging.
ਬਿੰਦੋਅਪਨੋਨਾਮੁਰਖਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਂ ਬਿੰਦੂ ਰਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
ਚੇਰਿਨਕੇਸੰਗਦ੍ਰੋਹਬਢਾਯੋ॥੧॥
(ਹੋਰ) ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
She called herself as Bindo; she was an accomplice of the thieves.(1)
ਡੋਲਾਮਾਟੀਕੋਤਿਨਲਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਡੋਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਤਾਮੈਡਾਰਿਸਰਸਵਹਿਦਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਰ੍ਹੋਂ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
She took an earthen-pitcher and put in it linseeds.
ਚਾਰਿਮੇਖਲੋਹਾਕੀਡਾਰੀ॥
(ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਲੋਹੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਰ ਕਿਲਾਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ
ਦਾਬਿਗਈਤਾਕੀਪਿਛਵਾਰੀ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਵਾੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਦਬ ਗਈ ॥੨॥
After putting four nails in it, she buried it (at the back ofthe place).(2)
ਆਪਰਾਵਤਨਆਨਿਜਤਾਯੋ॥
ਆਪ ਆ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਿਆ
ਇਕੁਟੌਨਾਇਹਕਰਮਮਆਯੋ॥
ਕਿ ਇਕ ਟੂਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।
She came and told the Raja, ‘Some maid has performed an incantation.
ਜੋਤੁਮਕਹੋਤੋਆਨਿਦਿਖਾਊ॥
ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂ,
ਕਛੁਮੁਖਤੇਆਗ੍ਯਾਤਵਪਾਊ॥੩॥
ਜੇ (ਮੈਂ ਆਪ ਦੇ) ਮੁਖ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਆਗਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ॥੩॥
‘If you desire and order yourself, and I will display it to you.’(3)
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਕਹਿਯੋਆਨਿਦਿਖਾਇਦਿਖਾਯੋ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਓ, (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ) ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸਭਹਿਨਕੇਚਿਤਭਰਮੁਪਜਾਯੋ॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਸਭ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਰਮ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
She took Raja and showed him and put all the people in whim.
ਸਤਿਸਤਿਸਭਹੂੰਨਬਖਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਸਭ ਨੇ ਸਚ ਸਚ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਤਾਕੋਭੇਦਨਕਿਨਹੂੰਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥੪॥
ਪਰ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਭੇਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ॥੪॥
She proved it to be true and none could acquiesce her trick.(4)
ਇਹਚੁਗਲੀਜਿਹਊਪਰਖਾਈ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ (ਦਾਸੀ) ਉਪਰ ਚੁਗਲੀ ਖਾਈ,
ਸੋਚੇਰੀਨ੍ਰਿਪਾਪਕਰਿਮੰਗਾਈ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਮੰਗਵਾਇਆ।
When the backbiting reacted, the Raja summoned that maid.
ਕੁਰਰਨਮਾਰਿਅਧਿਕਤਿਹਮਾਰੀ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾਰ ਪਈ,
ਸੀਨਮੁਖਤੇਨੈਕਉਚਾਰੀ॥੫॥
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਸੀ ਤਕ ਨਾ ਕਹੀ ॥੫॥
She was beaten with whips but she did not murmur.(5)
ਮਾਰਿਪਰੀਵਹਨੈਕੁਨਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਮਾਰ ਪੈਣ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ (ਤਾਂ) ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ
ਯਹਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਠੀਰਾਵਹੂੰਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ॥
ਕਿ ਇਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹਠ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
In spite of beating she did not confess and the Raja thought she was stubborn.
ਦਿਬਕੀਬਾਤਚਲਨਜਬਲਾਗੀ॥
ਜਦ (ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ) ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਗੀ (ਅਰਥਾਂਤਰ- ਜਦ ਤੱਤੇ ਤਵੇ ਉਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਰਖਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਚਲਣ ਲਗੀ)
ਆਧੀਰਾਤਿਗਏਤਬਭਾਗੀ॥੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਅੱਧ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਭਜ ਗਈ ॥੬॥
At the night when they were discussing, she ran away.(6)
ਭੇਜਿਮਨੁਖਨ੍ਰਿਪਪਕਰਿਮੰਗਾਈ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਬੁਲਾਵਾ ਲਿਆ
ਏਕਕੋਠਰੀਮੈਰਖਵਾਈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The Raja sent guards to catch her and put her in the cell.
ਬਿਖੁਕੋਖਾਨਾਤਾਹਿਖਵਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਵਾਇਆ
ਵਾਹਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੁਕੇਧਾਮਪਠਾਯੋ॥੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੭॥
He made her to take poison and dispatched her to the domain of death.(7)(1)

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬੈਰਮ ਖਾਂ ਪਤੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
Bairam Khan was her husband who always revelled in good causes.(1)
ਤਵਨਪਠਾਨੀਕੋਹੁਤੋਨਾਮਗੌਹਰਾਰਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਪਠਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਗੌਹਰਾ ਰਾਇ ਸੀ।
The name of the Pathani, the Pathan’s woman, was Gohraan Raae,
ਜਾਨੁਕਨਕਕੀਪੁਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਬਿਧਨਾਰਚੀਬਨਾਇ॥੨॥
(ਉਹ) ਮਾਨੋ ਵਿਧਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਪੁਤਲੀ ਵਰਗੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨॥
And she was, as if, the creation of Brahma, the God, Himself.(2)
ਅਰਿਬਲੁਕੈਆਵਤਭਏਤਾਪੈਅਤਿਦਲਜੋਰਿ॥
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੈਨਾ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬਲ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਇਆ।
The enemy raided with great force and power,
ਦੈਹੈਯਾਹਿਨਿਕਾਰਿਕੈਲੈਹੈਦੇਸਮਰੋਰਿ॥੩॥
(ਇਸ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਥੋਂ ਕਢ ਦੇਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਖੋਹ ਲਈਏ ॥੩॥
To capture the country and took her away.(3)
