ਤੁਮਕੋਮਾਰਨਕੌਲੈਜੈਹੈਂ॥
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੈ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਕਾਢਿਭਗਵੌਤੀਠਾਢੇਹ੍ਵੈਹੈਂ॥
ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਖੜੋਤੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
‘They might try to take you to kill, as they would have drawn the swords.
ਢੀਠਤੁਆਪਨਚਿਤਮੈਗਹਿਯਹੁ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੀਂ
ਤ੍ਰਾਸਮਾਨਿਕਛੁਤਿਨੈਨਕਹਿਯਹੁ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਹੀਂ ॥੪॥
‘You must remain resolute and, getting fearful, don’t reveal any thing.(4)

ਤਾਕੌਢੀਠਬਧਾਇਕੈਕਾਢਿਲਈਤਰਵਾਰਿ॥
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਢੀਠਾਈ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਕਢ ਲਈ
He, then, tied him up and drew the sword.
ਤੁਰਤਘਾਵਤਾਕੋਕਿਯੋਹਨਤਨਲਾਗੀਬਾਰਿ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਵਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਦੇਰ ਨਾ ਲਗੀ ॥੫॥
He, instantly, struck him to injure and then killed.(5)
ਤਾਕੋਹਨਿਡਾਰਤਭਯੋਕਛੂਨਪਾਯੋਖੇਦ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
By killing him he felt no remorse.
ਗਾਵਸੁਖੀਅਪਨੇਬਸਿਯੋਕਿਨੂੰਨਜਾਨ੍ਯੋਭੇਦ॥੬॥
(ਉਹ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸਣ ਲਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
He commenced living a peaceful life in his village and no body ever perceived the mystery.(6)(1)

ਪ੍ਰਬਲਸਿੰਘਦਛਿਨਕੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਬਰ॥
ਦੱਖਣ ਵਿਚ (ਇਕ) ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ।
ਬਹੁਭਾਤਨਿਕੋਧਨਤਾਕੇਘਰ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਸੀ।
There lived a propitious Raja called Parbal Singh in the South who had lot of wealth.
ਚਾਰੁਚਛੁਤਾਕੀਤ੍ਰਿਯਰਹਈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ 'ਚਾਰੁ ਚਛੁ' ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਜੋਵਹੁਕਹੈਸੁਰਾਜਾਕਰਈ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੧॥
He had a wife whose eyes were very beautiful and whatever she said Raja would do.(1)
ਅਤਿਸੁੰਦਰਿਵਹੁਨਾਰਿਸੁਨੀਜੈ॥
ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਤਾਕੋਪਟਤਰਕਾਕੋਦੀਜੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ('ਪਟਤਰ') ਕਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
As she was very pretty no body could compete with her.
ਰਾਜਾਅਧਿਕਪ੍ਯਾਰਤਿਹਰਾਖੈ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਰਖਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਕਟੁਬਚਕਦੀਨਮੁਖਤੇਭਾਖੈ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੌੜੇ ਬੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
Raja kept her in utmost respect and never spoke harsh to her.(2)
ਬੰਗਸਕੇਰਾਜੇਕਹਲਾਵੈ॥
ਉਹ ਬੰਗਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ
ਭਾਤਿਭਾਤਿਕੇਭੋਗਕਮਾਵੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਭਾਂਤ ਭਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
They were known as the rulers of Bangash and they revelled in various love-makings.
ਇਕਸੁੰਦਰਨਰਰਾਨੀਲਹਿਯੋ॥
ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਤਬਹੀਆਨਿਮੈਨਤਿਹਗਹਿਯੋ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਕਾਮ ਦੇ ਵਸ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੩॥
But, when Rani saw a handsome man, she was overpowered by the Cupid.(3)
ਤਾਸੌਨੇਹੁਰਾਨਿਯਹਿਕੀਨੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਤਾ
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਤੇਕਾਢਿਅਮਿਤਧਨੁਦੀਨੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Rani loved him a lot and, then, giving him a lot of wealth banished him I from the house.
ਤਿਹਜਾਰਹਿਇਹਭਾਤਿਸਿਖਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ
ਆਪੁਚਰਿਤਇਹਭਾਤਿਬਨਾਯੋ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
She had trained the lover to perform a strange Chritar.(4)

ਦਰਵਾਜੇਇਹਕੋਟਕੇਰਹਿਯੋਸਵੇਰੇਲਾਗਿ॥
ਇਸ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਉਤੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਬਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਿਆਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ
She had told him, ‘Outside the gate, after discarding your clothes,
ਅਤਿਦੁਰਬਲਕੋਭੇਸਕਰਿਸਭਬਸਤ੍ਰਨਕੋਤ੍ਯਾਗ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੁਰਬਲ ਦਾ ਭੇਸ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਖੜੋ ਜਾਣਾ ॥੫॥
‘And disguised as a pauper, you remain there standing.’(5)

ਤਾਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਜਬਨ੍ਰਿਪਪਗਧਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਪੈਰ ਰਖਿਆ।
ਬਿਖੁਦੈਤਾਹਿਮਾਰਿਹੀਡਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When Raja put his foot inside the Rani’s place, she killed him with poison.
ਦੀਨਬਚਨਤਬਤ੍ਰਿਯਹਿਉਚਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਬੜੇ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ
ਮੋਹਿਤ੍ਯਾਗਗੇਰਾਜਹਮਾਰੇ॥੬॥
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਿਆਗ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
With great distress she declared, ‘My beloved Raja has abandoned me.(6)
ਮਰਤੀਬਾਰਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਮੁਹਿਕਹਿਯੋ॥
ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ
ਸੋਮੈਬਚਨਹ੍ਰਿਦੈਦ੍ਰਿੜਗਹਿਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਬਚਨ ਮੈਂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
‘What he told me at the time of his death, I am determined to do.
ਰਾਜਸਾਜਦੁਰਬਲਕੋਦੀਜੋ॥
ਕਿ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਕਿਸੇ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ (ਅਥਵਾ ਨਿਤਾਣੇ) ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਣਾ
ਮੋਰੋਕਹਿਯੋਮਾਨਿਤ੍ਰਿਯਲੀਜੋ॥੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ! ਮੇਰਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਣਾ ॥੭॥
‘Raja had pronounced, “The Kingdom should be given to a pauper and it must be fulfilled.(7)

ਅਤਿਸੁੰਦਰਦੁਰਬਲਘਨੋਕੋਟਦੁਆਰੇਹੋਇ॥
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ (ਨਿਤਾਣਾ) ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਉਤੇ ਖੜੋਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
‘If there is some body very handsome but pauper, and is standing outside the gate of the fort,
ਰਾਜਸਾਜਤਿਹਦੀਜਿਯਹੁਲਾਜਨਕਰਿਯਹੁਕੋਇ॥੮॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੇਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੮॥
“He should be endowed the reign without any hesitation.”(8)

ਹਮਤੁਮਕੋਟਦੁਆਰੇਜੈਹੈ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰ ਉਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਐਸੇਪੁਰਖਲਹੈਤਿਹਲਯੈਹੈ॥
ਜੇ ਉਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ,
‘I and you (the minister) will go out and if we come across such a person.
ਰਾਜਸਾਜਤਾਹੀਕੋਦੀਜੈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜ ਸਾਜ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ।
ਮੇਰੋਬਚਨਸ੍ਰਵਨਸੁਨਿਲੀਜੈ॥੯॥
ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ ॥੯॥
‘Then, listen carefully, the reign of the Kingdom will be given to him.(9)
