ਪੁਨਹਾ:
PUNHA
ਬਹੁਰਿਭਇਓਮਹਖਾਸੁਰਤਿਨਤੋਕਿਆਕੀਆ॥
ਫਿਰ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ (ਝੋਟੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੈਂਤ) ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ? (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਹੈ)।
Then there appeared Mahishasura and whatever he did is as follows:
ਭੁਜਾਜੋਰਿਕਰਿਜੁਧੁਜੀਤਸਭਜਗੁਲੀਆ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਭੁਜਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ।
With his armed strength, he conquered the whole world.
ਸੂਰਸਮੂਹਸੰਘਾਰੇਰਣਹਿਪਚਾਰਕੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੰਗਾਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
He challenged all the gods in the battlefield.
ਟੂਕਿਟੂਕਿਕਰਿਡਾਰੇਆਯੁਧਧਾਰਕੈ॥੧੩॥
ਹਥਿਆਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ ॥੧੩॥
And with his weapons he chopped them all.13.
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ॥
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ:

ਜੁਧਕਰਿਯੋਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰਦਾਨਵਮਾਰਿਸਭੈਸੁਰਸੈਨਗਿਰਾਇਓ॥
ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੇਵ-ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ। ਵ
The demons-king Mahishasura waged the war and killed all the forces of gods.
ਕੈਕੈਦੁਟੂਕਦਏਅਰਿਖੇਤਿਮਹਾਬਰਬੰਡਮਹਾਰਨਪਾਇਓ॥
ਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਦੋ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ) ਮਹਾਬਲੀ ਨੇ ਘਮਸਾਨ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ।
He cut the mighty warriors into halves and threw them in the field, he waged such a terrible and fierce war.
ਸ੍ਰਉਣਤਰੰਗਸਨਿਓਨਿਸਰਿਓਜਸੁਇਆਛਬਿਕੋਮਨਮੈਇਹਿਆਇਓ॥
ਲਹੂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਲਥ-ਪਥ ਹੋਇਆ (ਉਹ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਤੋਂ) ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ।
Seeing him besmeared with the blood, it seems thus in the mind of the poet:
ਮਾਰਿਕੈਛਤ੍ਰਨਿਕੁੰਡਕੈਛੇਤ੍ਰਮੈਮਾਨਹੁਪੈਠਿਕੈਰਾਮਜੂਨਾਇਓ॥੧੪॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਕਵੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਆਈ ਮਾਨੋ ਛਤ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ (ਲਹੂ ਦੇ) ਕੁੰਡ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਰਸ਼ੁਰਾਮ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੪॥
As if killing the Kashatriyas, Parshuram has bathed himself in their blood.14.
ਲੈਮਹਖਾਸੁਰਅਸਤ੍ਰਸੁਸਸਤ੍ਰਸਬੈਕਲਵਤ੍ਰਜਿਉਚੀਰਕੈਡਾਰੈ॥
ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ (ਵੈਰੀਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਕਲਵਤਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਚੀਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
With his arms and weapons, Mahishasura sawed and threw the warriors as in a saw.
ਲੁਥਪੈਲੁਥਰਹੀਗੁਥਿਜੁਥਿਗਿਰੇਗਿਰਸੇਰਥਸੇਂਧਵਭਾਰੇ॥
ਲੋਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਲੋਥਾਂ ਗੁੱਛਾ-ਮੁੱਛਾ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਪਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਬਤਾਂ ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵਡੇ ਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
The corpse fell of the corpse and the big horses have fallen in flocks like mountains.
ਗੂਦਸਨੇਸਿਤਲੋਹੂਮੈਲਾਲਕਰਾਲਪਰੇਰਨਮੈਗਜਕਾਰੇ॥
ਚਿੱਟੀ ਮਿਝ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲ ਲਹੂ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਬੜੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹਾਥੀ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
The black elephants have fallen in the field alongwith white fat and red blood.
ਜਿਉਦਰਜੀਜਮਮ੍ਰਿਤਕੇਸੀਤਮੈਬਾਗੇਅਨੇਕਕਤਾਕਰਿਡਾਰੇ॥੧੫॥
(ਉਹ) ਯਮ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਇੰਜ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਰਦੀ ਦੀ ਰੁਤ ਵਿਚ ਦਰਜ਼ੀ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਪੜੇ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
They all are lying dead as if the tailor, cutting the clothes makes their heaps.15.
ਲੈਸੁਰਸੰਗਸਬੈਸੁਰਪਾਲਸੁਕੋਪਕੇਸਤ੍ਰੁਕੀਸੈਨਪੈਧਾਏ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਉਤੇ ਜਾ ਪਿਆ।
Indra taking all gods with him, invaded the forces of the enemy.
ਦੈਮੁਖਢਾਰਲੀਏਕਰਵਾਰਹਕਾਰਪਚਾਰਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਲਗਾਏ॥
ਮੂੰਹ ਅਗੇ ਢਾਲ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ (ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ) ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਗਾਰ ਕੇ (ਅਜਿਹੇ) ਵਾਰ ਕੀਤੇ
Covering the face with shield and holding the sword in hand, they attacked with loud shouts.
ਸ੍ਰਉਨਮੈਦੈਤਸੁਰੰਗਭਏਕਬਿਨੇਮਨਭਾਉਇਹੈਛਬਿਪਾਏ॥
ਕਿ ਲਹੂ ਨਾਲ ਦੈਂਤ ਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਵੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਭਾਵ ਆਇਆ
The demons are dyed with blood and it seems to the poet
ਰਾਮਮਨੋਰਨਜੀਤਕੈਭਾਲਕਦੈਸਿਰਪਾਉਸਬੈਪਹਰਾਏ॥੧੬॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਨੇ ਜੰਗ ਜਿਤ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਰਿੱਛਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਉ ਪਵਾਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੬॥
As if Rama after conquering the war is bestowing (the redcoloured) robes of honour to all bears.16.
ਘਾਇਲਘੂਮਤਹੈਰਨਮੈਇਕਲੋਟਤਹੈਧਰਨੀਬਿਲਲਾਤੇ॥
(ਕਈ ਯੋਧੇ) ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਘਾਇਲ ਘੁੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਪਏ ਕਰਾਹ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Many wounded warriors are rolling in the battlefield and many of them are writhing and crying on the ground.
ਦਉਰਤਬੀਚਕਬੰਧਫਿਰੈਜਿਹਦੇਖਤਕਾਇਰਹੈਡਰਪਾਤੇ॥
(ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ) ਵਿਚ ਧੜ ('ਕਬੰਧ') ਦੌੜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਡਰਪੋਕ ਡਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The trunks are also twirling there, seeing which the cowards are frightened.
ਇਯੋਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰਜੁਧੁਕੀਯੋਤਬਜੰਬੁਕਗਿਰਝਭਏਰੰਗਰਾਤੇ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਦੋਂ ਗਿਦੜ (ਜੰਬੁਕ) ਅਤੇ ਗਿਰਝਾਂ (ਅਧਿਕ ਖਾਧ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਾਰਨ) ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ।
Mahishasura waged such a war that the jackals and vultures are highly pleased.
ਸ੍ਰੌਨਪ੍ਰਵਾਹਮੈਪਾਇਪਸਾਰਕੈਸੋਏਹੈਸੂਰਮਨੋਮਦਮਾਤੇ॥੧੭॥
ਸੂਰਮੇ ਲਹੂ ਦੇ ਹੜ੍ਹ ਵਿਚ (ਪਏ ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਮਾਨੋ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਪੀ ਕੇ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ਪੈਰ ਪਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੭॥
And the heroes, being intoxicated, are lying prostrate in the stream of blood.17.
ਜੁਧੁਕੀਓਮਹਖਾਸੁਰਦਾਨਵਦੇਖਤਭਾਨੁਚਲੇਨਹੀਪੰਥਾ॥
ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਦੈਂਤ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਭੁਲ ਗਿਆ।
Seeing the fighting in the war of the demon Mahishasura, the sun is not moving on its orbit.
ਸ੍ਰੌਨਸਮੂਹਚਲਿਓਲਖਿਕੈਚਤੁਰਾਨਨਭੂਲਿਗਏਸਭਗ੍ਰੰਥਾ॥
ਲਹੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ ('ਗ੍ਰੰਥ') ਭੁਲ ਗਿਆ।
Brahma has also forgotten his texts on beholding the stream of blood.
ਮਾਸਨਿਹਾਰਕੈਗ੍ਰਿਝਰੜੈਚਟਸਾਰਪੜੈਜਿਮੁਬਾਰਕਸੰਥਾ॥
ਮਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਗਿਰਝਾਂ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਬੋਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਾਠਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Seeing the flesh, the vultures are seated in such a way, as if the children are learning their lessons in school.
ਸਾਰਸੁਤੀਤਟਿਲੈਭਟਲੋਥਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਾਲਕਿਸਿਧਬਨਾਵਕੰਥਾ॥੧੮॥
ਗਿਦੜ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋਥਾਂ ਇੰਜ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਰਸਵਤੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਕੰਥਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ (ਬ੍ਰਿਛਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਛਿਲਾਂ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧੮॥
The jackals are pulling the corpses in the field in such a way as if the Yogis, sitting on the banks of Sarswati are mending their patched quilts.18.
