ਏਕਜਾਰਸੁਨਾਨਯੋਤਿਹਡਾਰੀਐਅਬਿਚਾਰ॥
ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਨਵਾਂ ਜਾਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਬਾਤਕਹੋਤੁਮੈਸੁਨਿਰਾਜਰਾਜਵਤਾਰ॥੧੪੦॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੁਣੋ, (ਮੈਂ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੪੦॥
“Now, O king! throw another net immediately and this is the only step to catch him.”140.
ਗਿਆਨਨਾਮੁਸੁਨਾਹਮੋਤਿਹਜਾਰਕੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਰਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਜਾਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ 'ਗਿਆਨ' ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਉਨਤਾਮੈਡਾਰਿਕੈਮੁਨਿਰਾਜਲੇਹੁਗਹਾਇ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ (ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਰਾਜ (ਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰ) ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਲਵੋ।
“O king! we have heard about the name of the net of knowledge, throw the same in the ocean and catch the great sage
ਯੌਨਹਾਥਿਪਰੇਮੁਨੀਸੁਰਬੀਤਹੈਬਹੁਬਰਖ॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਨੀਸਰ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗੇਗਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਣ।
“The sage will not be caught with any other measure even for years
ਸਤਿਬਾਤਕਹੌਤੁਮੈਸੁਨਲੀਜੀਐਭਰਤਰਖ॥੧੪੧॥
ਹੇ ਭਰਤਰਖ! (ਮੈਂ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ ॥੧੪੧॥
O protector! listen to it, we are telling you the truth.”141.
ਯੌਨਪਾਨਿਪਰੇਮੁਨਾਬਰਹੋਹਿਾਂਕੋਟਿਉਪਾਇ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਨੀਸਰ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਣਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਉਪਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ।
“You may take croes of measures except this, you will not be able to catch him
ਡਾਰਕੇਤੁਮਗ੍ਯਾਨਜਾਰਸੁਤਾਸੁਲੇਹੁਗਹਾਇ॥
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਲਵੋ।
” Only throw the net of knowledge and catch him”
ਗ੍ਯਾਨਜਾਰਜਬੈਨ੍ਰਿਪੰਬਰਡਾਰ੍ਯੋਤਿਹਬੀਚ॥
ਜਦ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਰਾਜੇ (ਪਾਰਸ ਨਾਥ) ਨੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਤਉਨਜਾਰਗਹੋਮੁਨਾਬਰਜਾਨੁਦੂਜਦਧੀਚ॥੧੪੨॥
ਉਸ ਜਾਲ ਨੇ ਮੁਨੀਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਲਿਆ, ਮਾਨੋ ਦੂਜਾ ਦਧੀਚ (ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੧੪੨॥
When the king threw the net of knowledge into the ocean that net caught him like the second Dadhich.142.
ਮਛਸਹਿਤਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰਜੋਗੀਬਧਿਜਾਰਮਝਾਰ॥
ਮੱਛ ਸਮੇਤ ਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਜੋਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ।
ਮਛਲੋਕਬਿਲੋਕਿਕੈਸਬਹ੍ਵੈਗਏਬਿਸੰਭਾਰ॥
ਮੱਛ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਧ ਬੁਧ ਖੋਹ ਬੈਠੇ।
The Yogi Matsyendra was caught alongwith the fish, having been entrapped in the net and seeing that fish all were wonder-struck
ਦ੍ਵੈਮਹੂਰਤਬਿਤੀਜਬੈਸੁਧਿਪਾਇਕੈਕਛੁਅੰਗਿ॥
ਦੋ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਬੀਤਣ ਤੇ ਜਦ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਝ ਸੁੱਧ ਪਾ ਸਕੇ,
ਭੂਪਦ੍ਵਾਰਗਏਸਭੈਭਟਬਾਧਿਅਸਤ੍ਰਉਤੰਗ॥੧੪੩॥
(ਤਦ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰ ਉਤੇ ਗਏ ॥੧੪੩॥
After some time, when all the people regained some health, then all the warriors, depositing their arms and weapons reached at the gate of the king.143.
ਮਛਉਦਰਲਗੇਸੁਚੀਰਨਕਿਉਹੂੰਨਚੀਰਾਜਾਇ॥
ਉਹ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਮੱਛ ਦਾ ਪੇਟ ਚੀਰਨ ਲਗੇ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਚੀਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਿਆ।
They began to rip the belly of the fish, but none of them could do it
ਹਾਰਿਹਾਰਿਪਰੈਜਬੈਤਬਪੂਛਮਿਤ੍ਰਬੁਲਾਇ॥
ਜਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਾਰ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਬਸ ਕਰ ਗਏ, ਤਦ ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਪੁਛਿਆ।
When all of them gave in, then the king called his friends and asked them :
ਅਉਰਕਉਨਬਿਚਾਰੀਐਉਪਚਾਰਤਾਕਰਆਜ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੀਰਨ ਲਈ) ਅਜ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਯਤਨ (ਉਪਚਾਰ) ਵਿਚਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਜਾਤੇਪਰੈਮੁਨੀਸ੍ਵਰਸਰੇਹਮਰੋਕਾਜੁ॥੧੪੪॥
(ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮੁਨੀਸਰ (ਸਾਡੀ) ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਸੰਵਰ ਜਾਣ ॥੧੪੪॥
“Now what measure be adopted, so that we may be successful in our objective and see the great sage.”144.

ਮਛਪੇਟਕਿਹੂੰਨਫਟੇਸਬਕਰਹਟੇਉਪਾਇ॥
ਮੱਛ ਦਾ ਪੇਟ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਫਟਿਆ, ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਯਤਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਥਕ ਗਏ।
All of them used their power, but the belly of the fish could not be ripped,
ਗ੍ਯਾਨਗੁਰੂਤਿਨਕੋਹੁਤੋਪੂਛਾਤਹਿਬਨਾਇ॥੧੪੫॥
(ਫਿਰ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ 'ਗਿਆਨ' (ਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੁਛਿਆ ॥੧੪੫॥
Then the king tried to ask the knowledge- Guru.145.

ਭਟਤ੍ਯਾਗਕੈਸਬਗਰਬ॥
ਸੂਰਮੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਗਰਬ ਛਡ ਕੇ
All the warriors, forsaking their pride,
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੀਰਬੋਲੋਸਰਬ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੇ।
Came near the king and spoke,
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਪੂਛੀਐਗੁਰਗ੍ਯਾਨ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! 'ਗਿਆਨ' (ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਛ ਵੇਖੋ,
“O king! ask only the knowledge-Guru,
ਕਹਿਦੇਇਤੋਹਿਬਿਧਾਨ॥੧੪੬॥
ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ (ਸ਼ਾਇਦ) ਕੋਈ ਢੰਗ ਜਾਂ ਜੁਗਤ ਦਸ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧੪੬॥
He will only tell us all the method.”146.
ਬਿਧਿਪੂਰਿਕੈਸੁਭਚਾਰ॥
ਸ਼ੁਭ ਆਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਵਿਧੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ
ਅਰੁਗ੍ਯਾਨਰੀਤਿਬਿਚਾਰਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ)
The king reflected methodically and invoked knowledge and said,
ਗੁਰਭਾਖੀਐਮੁਹਿਭੇਵ॥
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਉਹ) ਭੇਦ ਦਸ ਦਿਓ
ਕਿਮਦੇਖੀਐਮੁਨਿਦੇਵ॥੧੪੭॥
ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਨੀ ਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ॥੧੪੭॥
“O chief Guru! tell me the mystery as to how the sage can be seen ?”147.
ਗੁਰਗ੍ਯਾਨਬੋਲ੍ਯੋਬੈਨ॥
'ਗਿਆਨ' ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਭ
ਸੁਭਬਾਚਸੋਸੁਖਦੈਨ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਕਹੇ।
Then the knowledge-Guru uttered these ambrosial words,
ਛੁਰਕਾਬਿਬੇਕਲੈਹਾਥ॥
(ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ!) ਬਿਬੇਕ ਦਾ ਛੁਰਾ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਵੋ।
ਇਹਫਾਰੀਐਤਿਹਸਾਥ॥੧੪੮॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਮੱਛ ਦਾ) ਪੇਟ ਫਾੜੋ ॥੧੪੮॥
”O king! Take the knife of Viveka (Discrimination) and tear off this fish.”148.
ਤਬਕਾਮਤੈਸੋਈਕੀਨ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ
ਗੁਰਗ੍ਯਾਨਜ੍ਯੋਂਸਿਖਦੀਨ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ 'ਗਿਆਨ' ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ।
Then, whatever the Guru had instructed, it was done accordingly
ਗਹਿਕੈਬਿਬੇਕਹਿਹਾਥ॥
ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਬੇਕ (ਦੇ ਛੁਰੇ ਨੂੰ) ਪਕੜ ਕੇ,
ਤਿਹਚੀਰਿਆਤਿਹਸਾਥ॥੧੪੯॥
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੀਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੪੯॥
After adopting Viveka, that fish was ripped.149.
ਜਬਚੀਰਿਪੇਟਬਨਾਇ॥
ਜਦ (ਮੱਛ ਦਾ) ਪੇਟ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ
ਤਬਦੇਖਏਜਗਰਾਇ॥
ਤਦ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ (ਮਛਿੰਦ੍ਰ) ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
When the belly of the fish was ripped, then that great sage was seen
ਜੁਤਧ੍ਯਾਨਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਤਨੈਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ
ਬਿਨੁਆਸਚਿਤਨਡੁਲੈਨ॥੧੫੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਸ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋਏ ਦਾ ਚਿਤ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ॥੧੫੦॥
He was sitting there with closed eyes and concentration, detaching himself from all desires.150.
ਸਤਧਾਤਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਕੀਨ॥
ਸੱਤ ਧਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਪੁਤਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਮੁਨਿਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਤਰਧਰਦੀਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁਨੀ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then a sheet made of seven metals was put under the view of the sage
ਜਬਛੂਟਿਰਿਖਿਕੇਧ੍ਯਾਨ॥
ਜਦ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ (ਮੁਨੀ) ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਛੁਟਿਆ,
ਤਬਭਏਭਸਮਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ॥੧੫੧॥
ਤਦ (ਉਹ ਪੁਤਲਾ) ਭਸਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੫੧॥
When the contemplation of the sage broke, the sheet was reduced to ashes by the sight of the sage.151.
ਜੋਅਉਰਦ੍ਰਿਗਤਰਿਆਉ॥
ਜੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤਲੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ,
ਸੋਊਜੀਅਤਜਾਨਨਪਾਉ॥
ਉਹ ਵੀ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਬਚਦਾ। (ਬਸ) ਜਾਣ ਲਵੋ,
If anything else had come within his sight (at that time),
