ਤਾਕੇਜਾਇਦੁਆਰਪਰਬੈਠੇ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰ ਉਤੇ ਜਾ ਬੈਠੇ
ਸਕਲਮੁਨੀਮੁਨੀਰਾਜਇਕੈਠੇ॥੪੪੨॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਰਾਜ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ॥੪੪੨॥
The great sage Dutt sat at the gate of that trader alongwith many other sages.442.
ਸਾਹਸੁਦਿਰਬਬ੍ਰਿਤਲਗਰਹਾ॥
(ਉਸ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਧਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਲਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
ਰਿਖਨਓਰਤਿਨਚਿਤ੍ਰਯੋਨਕਹਾ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਹੀ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
The mind of the trader was so much absorbed in earning money that he did not pay attention to the sages even slightly
ਨੇਤ੍ਰਮੀਚਏਕੈਧਨਆਸਾ॥
ਇਕ ਧਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੇਤਰ ਮੀਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
ਐਸਜਾਨੀਅਤਮਹਾਉਦਾਸਾ॥੪੪੩॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਗਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਉਦਾਸ (ਵਿਰਕਤ) ਸੀ ॥੪੪੩॥
With closed eyes he was immersed in the expectation of money like a detached hermit.443.
ਤਹਜੇਹੁਤੇਰਾਵਅਰੁਰੰਕਾ॥
ਉਥੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅਮੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਸਨ,
ਮੁਨਿਪਗਪਰੇਛੋਰਕੈਸੰਕਾ॥
(ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈ ਗਏ।
ਤਿਹਬਿਪਾਰਕਰਮਕਰਭਾਰੀ॥
(ਪਰ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਪਾਰ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਕੰਮ ਸੀ,
ਰਿਖੀਅਨਓਰਨਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਪਸਾਰੀ॥੪੪੪॥
(ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਲ ਅੱਖ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਵੇਖੀ ॥੪੪੪॥
All the kings and poor people who were there, leaving all their doubts fell dwon at the feet of the sages, but that trader was so much immersed in his work that he did not even raise his eyes and see towards the sages.444.
ਤਾਸੁਦੇਖਿਕਰਿਦਤਪ੍ਰਭਾਊ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਦੱਤ ਨੇ
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਕਹਾਤਜਕੈਹਠਭਾਊ॥
ਹਠ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਕਿਹਾ,
ਐਸਪ੍ਰੇਮਪ੍ਰਭੁਸੰਗਲਗਈਐ॥
ਜੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ,
ਤਬਹੀਪੁਰਖੁਪੁਰਾਤਨਪਈਐ॥੪੪੫॥
ਤਦ ਹੀ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੪੫॥
Dutt looking at his position and impact, leaving his persistence, said openly, “If such a love is employed with the Lord, then that supreme Lord can be realized.”445.

ਹੁਣ ਤੋਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੀਹਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਕਥਨ
Now begins the description of the adoption of a parrot-instructor as the twenty-first Guru

ਬੀਸਗੁਰੂਕਰਿਆਗੇਚਲਾ॥
ਵੀਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਦੱਤ) ਅਗੇ ਚਲ ਪਿਆ
ਸੀਖੇਸਰਬਜੋਗਕੀਕਲਾ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਯੋਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਲਾਵਾਂ ਸਿਖੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਨ।
Adopting twenty Gurus and learning all the arts of Yoga, the sage moved further
ਅਤਿਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਅਮਿਤੋਜੁਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੂ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਿਤ ਬਲ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸੀ।
ਜਾਨੁਕਸਾਧਿਫਿਰਾਸਬਜਾਪੂ॥੪੪੬॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ) ਮਾਨੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧਨਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਤਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪੪੬॥
His glory, impact and radiance were infinite and it seemed that he had completed all the practices and was roaming, remembering the Name of the Lord.446.
ਲੀਏਬੈਠਦੇਖਾਇਕਸੂਆ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੋਤਾ ਲਏ ਹੋਏ ਬੈਠਾ ਇਕ (ਬੰਦਾ) ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਜਿਹਸਮਾਨਜਗਿਭਯੋਨਹੂਆ॥
ਜਿਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।
There he saw a person seated with a parrot and for him there was none like it in the world
ਤਾਕਹੁਨਾਥਸਿਖਾਵਤਬਾਨੀ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਬੋਲੀ ਸਿਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
ਏਕਟਕਪਰਾਅਉਰਨਜਾਨੀ॥੪੪੭॥
ਉਹ ਇਕੋ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਲਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ॥੪੪੭॥
That person was teaching the parrot the art of speaking he was so much concentrated that he did not know anything else.447.
ਸੰਗਲਏਰਿਖਿਸੈਨਅਪਾਰੀ॥
ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਪਾਰ ਸੈਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਏ ਹੋਇਆਂ,
ਬਡੇਬਡੇਮੋਨੀਬ੍ਰਤਿਧਾਰੀ॥
ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਮੋਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਤਧਾਰੀ ਸਨ,
ਤਾਕੇਤੀਰਤੀਰਚਲਿਗਏ॥
(ਦੱਤ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ,
ਤਿਨਿਨਰਏਨਹੀਦੇਖਤਭਏ॥੪੪੮॥
(ਪਰ) ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਕ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੪੪੮॥
Dutt, taking with him the sages and a large gathering of silence-observing hermits, passed just before him, but that person did not see anyone from them.448.
ਸੋਨਰਸੁਕਹਿਪੜਾਵਤਰਹਾ॥
ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਤੋਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਇਨੈਕਛੂਮੁਖਤੇਨਹੀਕਹਾ॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ।
That person kept on instructing the parrot and did not talk anything with these persons
ਨਿਰਖਿਨਿਠੁਰਤਾਤਿਹਮੁਨਿਰਾਊ॥
ਮੁਨੀ ਰਾਜ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੇਰੁਖੀ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਮਾਂਚਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਪੁਲਕਪ੍ਰੇਮਤਨਉਪਜਾਚਾਊ॥੪੪੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੪੪੯॥
The absorption of that persons the love welled up in the mind of the sage.449.
ਐਸੇਨੇਹੁੰਨਾਥਸੋਲਾਵੈ॥
(ਜੇ ਕੋਈ) ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਵੇ,
ਤਬਹੀਪਰਮਪੁਰਖਕਹੁਪਾਵੈ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਹ) ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ।
If such a love is applied towards the Lord, only then that Supreme Lord can be realized
ਇਕੀਸਵਾਗੁਰੁਤਾਕਹਕੀਆ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਦੱਤ ਨੇ) ਇਕੀਸਵਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ,
ਮਨਬਚਕਰਮਮੋਲਜਨੁਲੀਆ॥੪੫੦॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਨ, ਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੁਲ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪੫੦॥
Surrendering before him with mind, speech and action, the sage adopted him as his twenty-first Guru.450.
ਇਤਿਇਕੀਸਵੋਂਗੁਰੁਸੁਕਪੜਾਵਤਨਰਸਮਾਪਤੰ॥੨੧॥

ਜਬਇਕੀਸਕਰਗੁਰੂਸਿਧਾਰਾ॥
ਜਦ ਇਕੀਸਵਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ (ਦੱਤ) ਅਗੇ ਚਲਿਆ,
ਹਰਬਾਹਤਇਕਪੁਰਖਨਿਹਾਰਾ॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਲ ਵਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਇਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
When after adopting his twenty-first Guru, Dutt moved further, then he saw a ploughman
ਤਾਕੀਨਾਰਿਮਹਾਸੁਖਕਾਰੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ
ਪਤਿਕੀਆਸਹੀਏਜਿਹਭਾਰੀ॥੪੫੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਆਸ (ਭਰੋਸਾ) ਸੀ ॥੪੫੧॥
His wife was a great comfort-giving chaste woman.451.
ਭਤਾਲਏਪਾਨਿਚਲਿਆਈ॥
ਉਹ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਭੱਤਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਚਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ,
ਜਨੁਕਨਾਥਗ੍ਰਿਹਬੋਲਪਠਾਈ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਘਰੋਂ ਬੁਲਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
Her husband had called her and she had come with food
ਹਰਬਾਹਤਤਿਨਕਛੂਨਲਹਾ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਲ ਵਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ (ਆਦਮੀ) ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਜਾਣਿਆ
ਤ੍ਰੀਆਕੋਧਿਆਨਨਾਥਪ੍ਰਤਿਰਹਾ॥੪੫੨॥
(ਅਤੇ ਉਸ) ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਵਲ ਹੀ ਲਗਾ ਰਿਹਾ ॥੪੫੨॥
That ploughman did not see anything else while ploughing and the attention of the wife was absorbed in her husbadd.452.
