ਜਿਹਵਾਸਚੀਸਚਿਰਤੀਤਨੁਮਨੁਸਚਾਹੋਇ॥
ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-) ਜੀਭ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
True is the tongue which is imbued with Truth, and true are the mind and body.
ਬਿਨੁਸਾਚੇਹੋਰੁਸਾਲਾਹਣਾਜਾਸਹਿਜਨਮੁਸਭੁਖੋਇ॥੨॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ ॥੨॥
By praising any other than the True Lord, one's whole life is wasted. ||2||
ਸਚੁਖੇਤੀਸਚੁਬੀਜਣਾਸਾਚਾਵਾਪਾਰਾ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Let Truth be the farm, Truth the seed, and Truth the merchandise you trade.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਲਾਹਾਸਚੁਨਾਮੁਧਨੁਭਗਤਿਭਰੇਭੰਡਾਰਾ॥੩॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ-ਰੋਜ਼ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਲਾਭ (ਵਜੋਂ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
Night and day, you shall earn the profit of the Lord's Name; you shall have the treasure overflowing with the wealth of devotional worship. ||3||
ਸਚੁਖਾਣਾਸਚੁਪੈਨਣਾਸਚੁਟੇਕਹਰਿਨਾਉ॥
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Let Truth be your food, and let Truth be your clothes; let your True Support be the Name of the Lord.
ਜਿਸਨੋਬਖਸੇਤਿਸੁਮਿਲੈਮਹਲੀਪਾਏਥਾਉ॥੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਐਸਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
One who is so blessed by the Lord, obtains a seat in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||4||
ਆਵਹਿਸਚੇਜਾਵਹਿਸਚੇਫਿਰਿਜੂਨੀਮੂਲਿਨਪਾਹਿ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੀ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ।
In Truth we come, and in Truth we go, and then, we are not consigned to reincarnation again.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਦਰਿਸਾਚੈਸਚਿਆਰਹਹਿਸਾਚੇਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਹਿ॥੫॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
The Gurmukhs are hailed as True in the True Court; they merge in the True Lord. ||5||
ਅੰਤਰੁਸਚਾਮਨੁਸਚਾਸਚੀਸਿਫਤਿਸਨਾਇ॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Deep within they are True, and their minds are True; they sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord.
ਸਚੈਥਾਨਿਸਚੁਸਾਲਾਹਣਾਸਤਿਗੁਰਬਲਿਹਾਰੈਜਾਉ॥੬॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੈ) ॥੬॥
In the true place, they praise the True Lord; I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||6||
ਸਚੁਵੇਲਾਮੂਰਤੁਸਚੁਜਿਤੁਸਚੇਨਾਲਿਪਿਆਰੁ॥
ਉਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁਹੂਰਤ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
True is the time, and true is the moment, when one falls in love with the True Lord.
ਸਚੁਵੇਖਣਾਸਚੁਬੋਲਣਾਸਚਾਸਭੁਆਕਾਰੁ॥੭॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
Then, he sees Truth, and speaks the Truth; he realizes the True Lord pervading the entire Universe. ||7||
ਨਾਨਕਸਚੈਮੇਲੇਤਾਮਿਲੇਆਪੇਲਏਮਿਲਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ (ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, one merges with the True Lord, when He merges with Himself.
ਜਿਉਭਾਵੈਤਿਉਰਖਸੀਆਪੇਕਰੇਰਜਾਇ॥੮॥੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਈ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ॥੮॥੧॥
As it pleases Him, He preserves us; He Himself ordains His Will. ||8||1||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Wadahans, Third Mahalaa:
ਮਨੂਆਦਹਦਿਸਧਾਵਦਾਓਹੁਕੈਸੇਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਵੈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਗਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੋਛਾ ਮਨ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
His mind wanders in the ten directions - how can he sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord?
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਵਿਆਪਿਰਹੀਅਧਿਕਾਈਕਾਮੁਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਨਿਤਸੰਤਾਵੈ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਤਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The sensory organs are totally engrossed in sensuality; sexual desire and anger constantly afflict him. ||1||
ਵਾਹੁਵਾਹੁਸਹਜੇਗੁਣਰਵੀਜੈ॥
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
Waaho! Waaho! Hail! Hail! Chant His Glorious Praises.
ਰਾਮਨਾਮੁਇਸੁਜੁਗਮਹਿਦੁਲਭੁਹੈਗੁਰਮਤਿਹਰਿਰਸੁਪੀਜੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਦੁਰਲਭ ਵਸਤੂ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The Lord's Name is so difficult to obtain in this age; under Guru's Instruction, drink in the subtle essence of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਬਦੁਚੀਨਿਮਨੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਹੋਵੈਤਾਹਰਿਕੇਗੁਣਗਾਵੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Remembering the Word of the Shabad, the mind becomes immaculately pure, and then, one sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀਆਪੈਆਪੁਪਛਾਣੈਤਾਨਿਜਘਰਿਵਾਸਾਪਾਵੈ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Under Guru's Instruction, one comes to understand his own self, and then, he comes to dwell in the home of his inner self. ||2||
ਏਮਨਮੇਰੇਸਦਾਰੰਗਿਰਾਤੇਸਦਾਹਰਿਕੇਗੁਣਗਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹੁ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
O my mind, be imbued forever with the Lord's Love, and sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹਰਿਨਿਰਮਲੁਸਦਾਸੁਖਦਾਤਾਮਨਿਚਿੰਦਿਆਫਲੁਪਾਉ॥੩॥
ਤੇ ਇੰਜ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
The Immaculate Lord is forever the Giver of peace; from Him, one receives the fruits of his heart's desires. ||3||
ਹਮਨੀਚਸੇਊਤਮਭਏਹਰਿਕੀਸਰਣਾਈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਨੀਚਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
I am lowly, but I have been exalted, entering the Sanctuary of the Lord.
ਪਾਥਰੁਡੁਬਦਾਕਾਢਿਲੀਆਸਾਚੀਵਡਿਆਈ॥੪॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਡਿਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੱਥਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਸਲ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
He has lifted up the sinking stone; True is His glorious greatness. ||4||
ਬਿਖੁਸੇਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਭਏਗੁਰਮਤਿਬੁਧਿਪਾਈ॥
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਕਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
From poison, I have been transformed into Ambrosial Nectar; under Guru's Instruction, I have obtained wisdom.
ਅਕਹੁਪਰਮਲਭਏਅੰਤਰਿਵਾਸਨਾਵਸਾਈ॥੫॥
ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਅੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਦਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਸੁੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
From bitter herbs, I have been transformed into sandalwood; this fragrance permeates me deep within. ||5||
ਮਾਣਸਜਨਮੁਦੁਲੰਭੁਹੈਜਗਮਹਿਖਟਿਆਆਇ॥
ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਖੱਟੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ (ਲਾਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ),
This human birth is so precious; one must earn the right to come into the world.
ਪੂਰੈਭਾਗਿਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਮਿਲੈਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇ॥੬॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
By perfect destiny, I met the True Guru, and I meditate on the Lord's Name. ||6||
ਮਨਮੁਖਭੂਲੇਬਿਖੁਲਗੇਅਹਿਲਾਜਨਮੁਗਵਾਇਆ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The self-willed manmukhs are deluded; attached to corruption, they waste away their lives in vain.
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਸਦਾਸੁਖਸਾਗਰੁਸਾਚਾਸਬਦੁਨਭਾਇਆ॥੭॥
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੭॥
The Name of the Lord is forever an ocean of peace, but the manmukhs do not love the Word of the Shabad. ||7||
ਮੁਖਹੁਹਰਿਹਰਿਸਭੁਕੋਕਰੈਵਿਰਲੈਹਿਰਦੈਵਸਾਇਆ॥
ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ) ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
Everyone can chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har with their mouths, but only a few enshrine it within their hearts.
ਨਾਨਕਜਿਨਕੈਹਿਰਦੈਵਸਿਆਮੋਖਮੁਕਤਿਤਿਨੑਪਾਇਆ॥੮॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੮॥੨॥
O Nanak, those who enshrine the Lord within their hearts, attain liberation and emancipation. ||8||2||
ਵਡਹੰਸੁਮਹਲਾ੧ਛੰਤ॥
ਰਾਗ ਵਡਹੰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ 'ਛੰਤ'।

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਾਇਆਕੂੜਿਵਿਗਾੜਿਕਾਹੇਨਾਈਐ॥
ਸਰੀਰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਗੰਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਤੀਰਥ-) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
Why bother to wash the body, polluted by falsehood?
ਨਾਤਾਸੋਪਰਵਾਣੁਸਚੁਕਮਾਈਐ॥
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਹਾਉਣਾ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One's cleansing bath is only approved, if he practices Truth.
ਜਬਸਾਚਅੰਦਰਿਹੋਇਸਾਚਾਤਾਮਿਸਾਚਾਪਾਈਐ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
When there is Truth within the heart, then one becomes True, and obtains the True Lord.
