ਬਿਸਨਆਪਹੀਕੋਠਹਰਾਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ) ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
Mahadeo (Shiva) was called Achyuta (blotless), Vishnu considered himself the Supreme.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਆਪਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਬਖਾਨਾ॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਸਿਆ
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੋਪ੍ਰਭੂਨਕਿਨਹੂੰਜਾਨਾ॥੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥੮॥
Brahma called himself Para Brahman, none could comprehend the Lord.8.
ਤਬਸਾਖੀਪ੍ਰਭਅਸਟਬਨਾਏ॥
ਤਦ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਅੱਠ ਸਾਖੀ (ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ, ਸੂਰਜ, ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ, ਧ੍ਰੁਵ, ਅਗਨੀ, ਪਵਨ, ਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯੂਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਸ) ਬਣਾਏ
ਸਾਖਨਮਿਤਦੇਬੇਠਹਿਰਾਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਖ (ਗਵਾਹੀ) ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ।
Then I created eight Sakshis in order to give evidence of my Entity.
ਤੇਕਹੈਕਰੋਹਮਾਰੀਪੂਜਾ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ) ਕਹਿਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੋ
ਹਮਬਿਨੁਅਵਰੁਨਠਾਕੁਰੁਦੂਜਾ॥੯॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
But they considered themselves all in all and aasked the people to worship them.9.
ਪਰਮਤਤਕੋਜਿਨਨਪਛਾਨਾ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮ-ਤੱਤ੍ਵ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ,
ਤਿਨਕਰਿਈਸੁਰਤਿਨਕਹੁਮਾਨਾ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਠਾਂ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਈਸ਼ਵਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ।
Those who did not comprehend the Lord, they were considered as Ishvara.
ਕੇਤੇਸੂਰਚੰਦਕਹੁਮਾਨੈ॥
ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਲਗੇ।
ਅਗਨਹੋਤ੍ਰਕਈਪਵਨਪ੍ਰਮਾਨੈ॥੧੦॥
ਕਈ ਅਗਨੀ ਹੋਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਪੌਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Several people worshipped the sun and the moon and several others worshipped Fire and Ait.10.
ਕਿਨਹੂੰਪ੍ਰਭੁਪਾਹਿਨਪਹਿਚਾਨਾ॥
ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ
ਨ੍ਹਾਤਕਿਤੇਜਲਕਰਤਬਿਧਾਨਾ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
Several them considered God as stone and several others bathed considering the Lordship of Water.
ਕੇਤਿਕਕਰਮਕਰਤਡਰਪਾਨਾ॥
ਕਈ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਡਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ
ਧਰਮਰਾਜਕੋਧਰਮਪਛਾਨਾ॥੧੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਮਝਣ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧੧॥
Considering Dharmaraja as the Supreme representative of Dharma, several bore fear of him in their actions. 11.
ਜੇਪ੍ਰਭਸਾਖਨਮਿਤਠਹਰਾਏ॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਖੀ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ,
ਤੇਹਿਆਂਆਇਪ੍ਰਭੂਕਹਵਾਏ॥
ਉਹ ਇਥੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਖਵਾਉਣ ਲਗੇ।
All those whom God established for the revelation of His Supremacy, they themselves were called Supreme.
ਤਾਕੀਬਾਤਬਿਸਰਜਾਤੀਭੀ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੀ ਭੁਲ ਗਈ
ਅਪਨੀਅਪਨੀਪਰਤਸੋਭਭੀ॥੧੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲਗੇ ਰਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
They forgot the Lord in their race for supremacy. 12
ਜਬਪ੍ਰਭਕੋਨਤਿਨੈਪਹਿਚਾਨਾ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ
ਤਬਹਰਿਇਨਮਨੁਛਨਠਹਰਾਨਾ॥
ਤਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
When they did not comprehend the Lord, then I established human beings in their place.
ਤੇਭੀਬਸਿਮਮਤਾਹੁਇਗਏ॥
ਉਹ ਵੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੇ ਵਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ
ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਪਾਹਨਠਹਰਏ॥੧੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧੩॥
They also were overpowered by ‘mineness’ and exhibited the Lord in statues.13.
ਤਬਹਰਿਸਿਧਸਾਧਠਹਿਰਾਏ॥
ਤਦ ਹਰਿ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ
ਤਿਨਭੀਪਰਮਪੁਰਖੁਨਹਿਪਾਏ॥
(ਪਰ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
Then I created Siddhas and sadhs, who also could not realize the Lord.
ਜੇਕੋਈਹੋਤਿਭਯੋਜਗਿਸਿਆਨਾ॥
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੋਇਆ
ਤਿਨਤਿਨਅਪਨੋਪੰਥੁਚਲਾਨਾ॥੧੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਣਾ (ਵਖਰਾ) ਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
On whomsoever wisdom dawned, he started his own path. 14.
ਪਰਮਪੁਰਖਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਹਪਾਯੋ॥
ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ
ਬੈਰਬਾਦਹੰਕਾਰਬਢਾਯੋ॥
(ਸਗੋਂ) ਵੈਰ, ਵਾਦ-ਵਿਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਧਾ ਲਿਆ
None could realise the Supreme Lord, but instead spread strife, enmity and ego.
ਪੇਡਪਾਤਆਪਨਤੇਜਲੈ॥
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਬ੍ਰਿਛਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਲਣ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੜ ਗਏ)
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਪੰਥਨਕੋਊਚਲੈ॥੧੫॥
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਿਆ ॥੧੫॥
The tree and the leaves began to burn, because of the inner fire.None followed the path of the Lord.15.
ਜਿਨਿਜਿਨਿਤਨਿਕਿਸਿਧਕੋਪਾਯੋ॥
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਰਤਾ ਕੁ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਨਿਤਿਨਿਅਪਨਾਰਾਹੁਚਲਾਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਚਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
Whosoever attained a little spiritual power, he started his own ptah.
ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਨਕਿਨਹੂੰਪਹਿਚਾਨਾ॥
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ
ਮਮਉਚਾਰਿਤੇਭਯੋਦਿਵਾਨਾ॥੧੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਾਰਨ (ਸਭ) ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੧੬॥
None could comprehend the Lord, but instead became mad with ‘I-ness’.16.
ਪਰਮਤਤਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਪਛਾਨਾ॥
ਪਰਮ-ਸੱਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ,
ਆਪਆਪਭੀਤਰਿਉਰਝਾਨਾ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਲਝ ਗਏ।
Nobody recognized the Supreme Essence, but was entangled within himself.
ਤਬਜੇਜੇਰਿਖਿਰਾਜਬਨਾਏ॥
ਤਦ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਰਾਜ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ,
ਤਿਨਆਪਨਪੁਨਿਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਚਲਾਏ॥੧੭॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ (ਧਰਮ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ) ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੭॥
All the great rishis (sages), who were then created, produced their own Smritis.17.
ਜੇਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਨਕੇਭਏਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾਣ ਲਗ ਗਏ,
ਤਿਨਤਿਨਕ੍ਰਿਆਬ੍ਰਹਮਕੀਤਿਆਗੀ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸੱਚੀ) ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਸਾਧਨਾ ਦਾ ਤਿਆਗ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
All those who became followers of these smritis, they abandoned the path of the Lord.
ਜਿਨਮਨੁਹਰਚਰਨਨਠਹਰਾਯੋ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ,
ਸੋਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਕੇਰਾਹਨਆਯੋ॥੧੮॥
ਉਹ ਸਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ (ਧਰਮ) ਮਾਰਗ ਉਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲੇ ॥੧੮॥
Those who devoted themselves to the Feet of the Lord, they did not adopt the path of the Smritis.18.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਚਾਰਹੀਬੇਦਬਨਾਏ॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ
ਸਰਬਲੋਕਤਿਹਕਰਮਚਲਾਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵੇਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ) ਕਰਮ ਮਾਰਗ ਉਤੇ ਤੋਰਿਆ।
Brahma composed all the four Vedas, all the people followed the injunctions contained in them.
ਜਿਨਕੀਲਿਵਹਰਿਚਰਨਨਲਾਗੀ॥
(ਪਰ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਹਰਿ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗ ਗਈ,
ਤੇਬੇਦਨਤੇਭਏਤਿਆਗੀ॥੧੯॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ (ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਦਾ) ਤਿਆਗ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੯॥
Those who were devoted to the Feet of the Lord, they abandoned the Vedas.19.
ਜਿਨਮਤਿਬੇਦਕਤੇਬਨਤਿਆਗੀ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਤੇਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ (ਮਤ) ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
