ਮਥੇਵਾਲਿਪਛਾੜਿਅਨੁਜਮਮਾਰਗਿਮੁਤੇ॥
(ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਮਾਨੋ,) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਭੁੰਞੇ ਪਟਕਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ (ਨਿਖਸਮੇ) ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ;
Grabbing them by the hair on their heads, the Lord throws them down, and leaves them on the path of Death.
ਦੁਖਿਲਗੈਬਿਲਲਾਣਿਆਨਰਕਿਘੋਰਿਸੁਤੇ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਵਿਲਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮਾਨੋ, ਘੋਰ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
They cry out in pain, in the darkest of hells.
ਕੰਠਿਲਾਇਦਾਸਰਖਿਅਨੁਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਸਤੇ॥੨੦॥
ਪਰ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਗਲ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੦॥
But hugging His slaves close to His Heart, O Nanak, the True Lord saves them. ||20||

Shalok, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਰਾਮੁਜਪਹੁਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋਜਲਿਥਲਿਪੂਰਨੁਸੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਿਓ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਪੋ ਜੋ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ;
Meditate on the Lord, O fortunate ones; He is pervading the waters and the earth.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਿਧਿਆਇਐਬਿਘਨੁਨਲਾਗੈਕੋਇ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ ਤਾਂ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ॥੧॥
O Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and no misfortune shall strike you. ||1||

Fifth Mahalaa:
ਕੋਟਿਬਿਘਨਤਿਸੁਲਾਗਤੇਜਿਸਨੋਵਿਸਰੈਨਾਉ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਘਨ ਆ ਘੇਰਦੇ ਹਨ;
Millions of misfortunes block the way of one who forgets the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕਅਨਦਿਨੁਬਿਲਪਤੇਜਿਉਸੁੰਞੈਘਰਿਕਾਉ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ) ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਇਉਂ ਵਿਲਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਂ ਲੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
O Nanak, like a crow in a deserted house, he cries out, night and day. ||2||

Pauree:
ਸਿਮਰਿਸਿਮਰਿਦਾਤਾਰੁਮਨੋਰਥਪੂਰਿਆ॥
ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨ ਦੇ) ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Meditating, meditating in remembrance of the Great Giver, one's heart's desires are fulfilled.
ਇਛਪੁੰਨੀਮਨਿਆਸਗਏਵਿਸੂਰਿਆ॥
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਠਦੀਆਂ) ਆਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਇੱਛਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਝੋਰੇ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The hopes and desires of the mind are realized, and sorrows are forgotten.
ਪਾਇਆਨਾਮੁਨਿਧਾਨੁਜਿਸਨੋਭਾਲਦਾ॥
ਜੋ 'ਨਾਮ'-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained; I have searched for it for so long.
ਜੋਤਿਮਿਲੀਸੰਗਿਜੋਤਿਰਹਿਆਘਾਲਦਾ॥
ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
My light is merged into the Light, and my labors are over.
ਸੂਖਸਹਜਆਨੰਦਵੁਠੇਤਿਤੁਘਰਿ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ, ਅਡੋਲਤਾ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
I abide in that house of peace, poise and bliss.
ਆਵਣਜਾਣਰਹੇਜਨਮੁਨਤਹਾਮਰਿ॥
ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
My comings and goings have ended - there is no birth or death there.
ਸਾਹਿਬੁਸੇਵਕੁਇਕੁਇਕੁਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ॥
(ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Master and the servant have become one, with no sense of separation.
ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿਨਾਨਕਸਚਿਸਮਾਇਆ॥੨੧॥੧॥੨॥ਸੁਧੁ
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਐਸਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੧॥੧॥੨॥
By Guru's Grace, Nanak is absorbed in the True Lord. ||21||1||2||Sudh||

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸ੍ਰੀਕਬੀਰਜੀਉਕਾਚਉਪਦਾਘਰੁ੨ਦੂਜਾ॥
ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਘਰ ੨ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਰ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Chau-Padas Of Kabeer Jee, Second House:
ਚਾਰਿਪਾਵਦੁਇਸਿੰਗਗੁੰਗਮੁਖਤਬਕੈਸੇਗੁਨਗਈਹੈ॥
(ਕਿਸੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ-ਜੂਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ) ਚਾਰ ਪੈਰ ਤੇ ਦੋ ਸਿੰਙ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ?
With four feet, two horns and a mute mouth, how could you sing the Praises of the Lord?
ਊਠਤਬੈਠਤਠੇਗਾਪਰਿਹੈਤਬਕਤਮੂਡਲੁਕਈਹੈ॥੧॥
ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਸੋਟਾ ਪਏਗਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਥੇ ਸਿਰ ਲੁਕਾਏਂਗਾ? ॥੧॥
Standing up and sitting down, the stick shall still fall on you, so where will you hide your head? ||1||
ਹਰਿਬਿਨੁਬੈਲਬਿਰਾਨੇਹੁਈਹੈ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਲਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ) ਪਰ-ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ,
Without the Lord, you are like a stray ox;
ਫਾਟੇਨਾਕਨਟੂਟੇਕਾਧਨਕੋਦਉਕੋਭੁਸੁਖਈਹੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਨੱਥ ਨਾਲ) ਨੱਕ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਏਗਾ, ਕੰਨ (ਜੂਲੇ ਨਾਲ) ਫਿੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਤੇ ਕੋਧਰੇ ਦਾ ਭੋਹ ਖਾਏਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
with your nose torn, and your shoulders injured, you shall have only the straw of coarse grain to eat. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਰੋਦਿਨੁਡੋਲਤਬਨਮਹੀਆਅਜਹੁਨਪੇਟਅਘਈਹੈ॥
ਜੰਗਲ (ਜੂਹ) ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਭਟਕਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਪੇਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜੇਗਾ।
All day long, you shall wander in the forest, and even then, your belly will not be full.
ਜਨਭਗਤਨਕੋਕਹੋਨਮਾਨੋਕੀਓਅਪਨੋਪਈਹੈ॥੨॥
ਹੁਣ ਐਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੂੰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ, (ਉਮਰ ਵਿਹਾ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਏਂਗਾ ॥੨॥
You did not follow the advice of the humble devotees, and so you shall obtain the fruits of your actions. ||2||
ਦੁਖਸੁਖਕਰਤਮਹਾਭ੍ਰਮਿਬੂਡੋਅਨਿਕਜੋਨਿਭਰਮਈਹੈ॥
ਹੁਣ ਭੈੜੇ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਗ਼ਰਕ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ, (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕੇਂਗਾ।
Enduring pleasure and pain, drowned in the great ocean of doubt, you shall wander in numerous reincarnations.
ਰਤਨਜਨਮੁਖੋਇਓਪ੍ਰਭੁਬਿਸਰਿਓਇਹੁਅਉਸਰੁਕਤਪਈਹੈ॥੩॥
ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਗੰਵਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਮਾ ਫੇਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ॥੩॥
You have lost the jewel of human birth by forgetting God; when will you have such an opportunity again? ||3||
ਭ੍ਰਮਤਫਿਰਤਤੇਲਕਕੇਕਪਿਜਿਉਗਤਿਬਿਨੁਰੈਨਿਬਿਹਈਹੈ॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ-ਰੂਪ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਲੀ ਦੇ ਬਲਦ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਂਦਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਭਟਕਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਇਗੀ।
You turn on the wheel of reincarnation, like an ox at the oil-press; the night of your life passes away without salvation.
ਕਹਤਕਬੀਰਰਾਮਨਾਮਬਿਨੁਮੂੰਡਧੁਨੇਪਛੁਤਈਹੈ॥੪॥੧॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਸਿਰ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਪਛਤਾਵੇਂਗਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
Says Kabeer, without the Name of the Lord, you shall pound your head, and regret and repent. ||4||1||
ਗੂਜਰੀਘਰੁ੩॥
Goojaree, Third House:
ਮੁਸਿਮੁਸਿਰੋਵੈਕਬੀਰਕੀਮਾਈ॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ (ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ) ਡੁਸਕ ਡੁਸਕ ਕੇ ਰੋਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
Kabeer's mother sobs, cries and bewails
ਏਬਾਰਿਕਕੈਸੇਜੀਵਹਿਰਘੁਰਾਈ॥੧॥
(ਤੇ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ-) ਹੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ! (ਕਬੀਰ ਦੇ) ਇਹ ਅੰਞਾਣੇ ਬਾਲ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਊਣਗੇ? ॥੧॥
- O Lord, how will my grandchildren live? ||1||
ਤਨਨਾਬੁਨਨਾਸਭੁਤਜਿਓਹੈਕਬੀਰ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ) ਕਬੀਰ ਨੇ (ਤਾਣਾ) ਤਣਨਾ ਤੇ (ਕੱਪੜਾ) ਉਣਨਾ ਸਭ ਕੁੱਝ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
Kabeer has given up all his spinning and weaving,
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਲਿਖਿਲੀਓਸਰੀਰ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
and written the Name of the Lord on his body. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬਲਗੁਤਾਗਾਬਾਹਉਬੇਹੀ॥
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਛੇਕ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਗਾ ਵਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ;
As long as I pass the thread through the bobbin,
ਤਬਲਗੁਬਿਸਰੈਰਾਮੁਸਨੇਹੀ॥੨॥
ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਸਾਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ) ॥੨॥
I forget the Lord, my Beloved. ||2||
ਓਛੀਮਤਿਮੇਰੀਜਾਤਿਜੁਲਾਹਾ॥
(ਕੀਹ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਤ ਦਾ (ਨੀਵਾਂ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ) ਜੁਲਾਹਾ ਹਾਂ,
My intellect is lowly - I am a weaver by birth,
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਲਹਿਓਮੈਲਾਹਾ॥੩॥
ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਨਫ਼ਾ (ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਖੱਟ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
but I have earned the profit of the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤਕਬੀਰਸੁਨਹੁਮੇਰੀਮਾਈ॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! ਸੁਣ,
Says Kabeer, listen, O my mother
ਹਮਰਾਇਨਕਾਦਾਤਾਏਕੁਰਘੁਰਾਈ॥੪॥੨॥
ਸਾਡਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
- the Lord alone is the Provider, for me and my children. ||4||2||
