ਸਹਜੇਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਈਐਗਿਆਨੁਪਰਗਟੁਹੋਇ॥੧॥
ਤਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with intuitive ease and poise, spiritual wisdom is revealed. ||1||
ਏਮਨਮਤਜਾਣਹਿਹਰਿਦੂਰਿਹੈਸਦਾਵੇਖੁਹਦੂਰਿ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਕਿਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝ ਲਈਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਤੈਥੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ।
O my mind, do not think of the Lord as being far away; behold Him ever close at hand.
ਸਦਸੁਣਦਾਸਦਵੇਖਦਾਸਬਦਿਰਹਿਆਭਰਪੂਰਿ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਭ-ਕੁਝ ਸੁਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਏਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He is always listening, and always watching over us; the Word of His Shabad is all-pervading everywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਆਪੁਪਛਾਣਿਆਤਿਨੑੀਇਕਮਨਿਧਿਆਇਆ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Gurmukhs understand their own selves; they meditate single-mindedly on the Lord.
ਸਦਾਰਵਹਿਪਿਰੁਆਪਣਾਸਚੈਨਾਮਿਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਆ॥੨॥
ਐਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
They enjoy their Husband Lord continually; through the True Name, they find peace. ||2||
ਏਮਨਤੇਰਾਕੋਨਹੀਕਰਿਵੇਖੁਸਬਦਿਵੀਚਾਰੁ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ (ਸੱਚਾ) ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
O my mind, no one belongs to you; contemplate the Shabad, and see this.
ਹਰਿਸਰਣਾਈਭਜਿਪਉਪਾਇਹਿਮੋਖਦੁਆਰੁ॥੩॥
ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਉ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਲਏਂਗਾ ॥੩॥
So run to the Lord's Sanctuary, and find the gate of salvation. ||3||
ਸਬਦਿਸੁਣੀਐਸਬਦਿਬੁਝੀਐਸਚਿਰਹੈਲਿਵਲਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ) ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ;
Listen to the Shabad, and understand the Shabad, and lovingly focus your consciousness on the True One.
ਸਬਦੇਹਉਮੈਮਾਰੀਐਸਚੈਮਹਲਿਸੁਖੁਪਾਇ॥੪॥
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁਕਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
Through the Shabad, conquer your ego, and in the True Mansion of the Lord's Presence, you shall find peace. ||4||
ਇਸੁਜੁਗਮਹਿਸੋਭਾਨਾਮਕੀਬਿਨੁਨਾਵੈਸੋਭਨਹੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੋਭਾ ਅਸਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
In this age, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is glory; without the Name, there is no glory.
ਇਹਮਾਇਆਕੀਸੋਭਾਚਾਰਿਦਿਹਾੜੇਜਾਦੀਬਿਲਮੁਨਹੋਇ॥੫॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੋਭਾ ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੫॥
The glory of this Maya lasts for only a few days; it disappears in an instant. ||5||
ਜਿਨੀਨਾਮੁਵਿਸਾਰਿਆਸੇਮੁਏਮਰਿਜਾਹਿ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who forget the Naam are already dead, and they continue dying.
ਹਰਿਰਸਸਾਦੁਨਆਇਓਬਿਸਟਾਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਹਿ॥੬॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਹ ਆਇਆ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ॥੬॥
They do not enjoy the sublime essence of the Lord's taste; they sink into the manure. ||6||
ਇਕਿਆਪੇਬਖਸਿਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁਅਨਦਿਨੁਨਾਮੇਲਾਇ॥
ਕਈ ਐਸੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
Some are forgiven by the Lord; He unites them with Himself, and keeps them attached to the Naam, night and day.
ਸਚੁਕਮਾਵਹਿਸਚਿਰਹਹਿਸਚੇਸਚਿਸਮਾਹਿ॥੭॥
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
They practice Truth, and abide in Truth; being truthful, they merge into Truth. ||7||
ਬਿਨੁਸਬਦੈਸੁਣੀਐਨਦੇਖੀਐਜਗੁਬੋਲਾਅੰਨੑਾਭਰਮਾਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆਂ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Without the Shabad, the world does not hear, and does not see; deaf and blind, it wanders around.
ਬਿਨੁਨਾਵੈਦੁਖੁਪਾਇਸੀਨਾਮੁਮਿਲੈਤਿਸੈਰਜਾਇ॥੮॥
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
Without the Naam, it obtains only misery; the Naam is received only by His Will. ||8||
ਜਿਨਬਾਣੀਸਿਉਚਿਤੁਲਾਇਆਸੇਜਨਨਿਰਮਲਪਰਵਾਣੁ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those persons who link their consciousness with the Word of His Bani, are immaculately pure, and approved by the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਤਿਨੑਾਕਦੇਨਵੀਸਰੈਸੇਦਰਿਸਚੇਜਾਣੁ॥੯॥੧੩॥੩੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਦੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉੱਘੇ ਹਨ ॥੯॥੧੩॥੩੫॥
O Nanak, they never forget the Naam, and in the Court of the Lord, they are known as true. ||9||13||35||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Aasaa, Third Mahalaa:
ਸਬਦੌਹੀਭਗਤਜਾਪਦੇਜਿਨੑਕੀਬਾਣੀਸਚੀਹੋਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਜਾਗਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ-ਚਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of the Shabad, the devotees are known; their words are true.
ਵਿਚਹੁਆਪੁਗਇਆਨਾਉਮੰਨਿਆਸਚਿਮਿਲਾਵਾਹੋਇ॥੧॥
(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
They eradicate ego from within themselves; they surrender to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and meet with the True One. ||1||
ਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਜਨਕੀਪਤਿਹੋਇ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ,
Through the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, His humble servants obtain honor.
ਸਫਲੁਤਿਨੑਾਕਾਜਨਮੁਹੈਤਿਨੑਮਾਨੈਸਭੁਕੋਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
How blessed is their coming into the world! Everyone adores them. ||1||Pause||
ਹਉਮੈਮੇਰਾਜਾਤਿਹੈਅਤਿਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ॥
'ਮੈਂ ਮੈਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ'-ਇਹ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਵਖੇਵਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Ego, self-centeredness, excessive anger and pride are the lot of mankind.
ਸਬਦਿਮਰੈਤਾਜਾਤਿਜਾਇਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲੈਭਗਵਾਨੁ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ 'ਮੈਂ ਮੇਰੀ' ਦਾ ਅਭਾਵ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ-ਪਨ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਰੱਬ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
If one dies in the Word of the Shabad, then he is rid of this, and his light is merged into the Light of the Lord God. ||2||
ਪੂਰਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਭੇਟਿਆਸਫਲਜਨਮੁਹਮਾਰਾ॥
ਜਦੋਂ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
Meeting with the Perfect True Guru, my life has been blessed.
ਨਾਮੁਨਵੈਨਿਧਿਪਾਇਆਭਰੇਅਖੁਟਭੰਡਾਰਾ॥੩॥
ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਕਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੩॥
I have obtained the nine treasures of the Naam, and my storehouse is inexhaustible, filled to overflowing. ||3||
ਆਵਹਿਇਸੁਰਾਸੀਕੇਵਾਪਾਰੀਏਜਿਨੑਾਨਾਮੁਪਿਆਰਾ॥
ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਉਹੀ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ (-ਧਨ) ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those who love the Naam come as dealers in the merchandise of the Naam.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹੋਵੈਸੋਧਨੁਪਾਏਤਿਨੑਾਅੰਤਰਿਸਬਦੁਵੀਚਾਰਾ॥੪॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
Those who become Gurmukh obtain this wealth; deep within, they contemplate the Shabad. ||4||
ਭਗਤੀਸਾਰਨਜਾਣਨੑੀਮਨਮੁਖਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ॥
(ਪਰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ,
The egotistical, self-willed manmukhs do not appreciate the value of devotional worship.
ਧੁਰਹੁਆਪਿਖੁਆਇਅਨੁਜੂਐਬਾਜੀਹਾਰੀ॥੫॥
ਐਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ-ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਜੁਆਰੀਆ) ਜੂਏ ਵਿਚ (ਹਾਰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੫॥
The Primal Lord Himself has beguiled them; they lose their lives in the gamble. ||5||
ਬਿਨੁਪਿਆਰੈਭਗਤਿਨਹੋਵਈਨਾਸੁਖੁਹੋਇਸਰੀਰਿ॥
ਜੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, (ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
Without loving affection, devotional worship is not possible, and the body cannot be at peace.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮਪਦਾਰਥੁਪਾਈਐਗੁਰਭਗਤੀਮਨਧੀਰਿ॥੬॥
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਟਿਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
The wealth of love is obtained from the Guru; through devotion, the mind becomes steady. ||6||
ਜਿਸਨੋਭਗਤਿਕਰਾਏਸੋਕਰੇਗੁਰਸਬਦਵੀਚਾਰਿ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
He alone performs devotional worship, whom the Lord so blesses; he contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਹਿਰਦੈਏਕੋਨਾਮੁਵਸੈਹਉਮੈਦੁਬਿਧਾਮਾਰਿ॥੭॥
ਤਦ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੇ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਮੁਕਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
The One Name abides in his heart, and he conquers his ego and duality. ||7||
ਭਗਤਾਕੀਜਤਿਪਤਿਏਕੋੁਨਾਮੁਹੈਆਪੇਲਏਸਵਾਰਿ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤ ਤੇ ਕੁਲ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The One Name is the social status and honor of the devotees; the Lord Himself adorns them.
ਸਦਾਸਰਣਾਈਤਿਸਕੀਜਿਉਭਾਵੈਤਿਉਕਾਰਜੁਸਾਰਿ॥੮॥
ਭਗਤ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
They remain forever in the Protection of His Sanctuary. As it pleases His Will, He arranges their affairs. ||8||
