ਹੁਣ ਬੀਸਵੇਂ ਰਾਮ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਕਥਨ
Now begins the description about Ram, the twentieth Incarnation:

ਅਬਮੈਕਹੋਰਾਮਅਵਤਾਰਾ॥
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਮ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜੈਸਜਗਤਮੋਕਰਾਪਸਾਰਾ॥
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਪਸਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
Now I describe the incarnation Ram how he exhibited his performance in the world.
ਬਹੁਤੁਕਾਲਬੀਤਤਭਯੋਜਬੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੀਤ ਗਿਆ,
ਅਸੁਰਨਬੰਸਪ੍ਰਗਟਭਯੋਤਬੈ॥੧॥
ਤਦੇ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੧॥
After a long time the family of demons raised its head again.1.
ਅਸੁਰਲਗੇਬਹੁਕਰੈਬਿਖਾਧਾ॥
ਦੈਂਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੰਗਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ,
ਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਤਿਨੈਤਨਕਮੈਸਾਧਾ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾੜਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
The demons began to perform vicious actions and no one could chastise them.
ਸਕਲਦੇਵਇਕਠੇਤਬਭਏ॥
ਤਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ
ਛੀਰਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਜਹਥੋਤਿਹਗਏ॥੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਛੀਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ (ਵਿੱਚ) ਜਿਥੇ (ਸੋਖ-ਸਾਈ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਕੋਲ) ਉਥੇ ਗਏ ॥੨॥
The all the gods assembled and went to the milk-ocean.2.
ਬਹੁਚਿਰਬਸਤਭਏਤਿਹਠਾਮਾ॥
ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਸਮੇਤ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ
ਬਿਸਨਸਹਿਤਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਜਿਹਨਾਮਾ॥
ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ।
There they stayed foe a long time with Vishnu and Brahma.
ਬਾਰਬਾਰਹੀਦੁਖਤਪੁਕਾਰਤ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਬਾਰ-ਬਾਰ ਦੁੱਖ ਭਰੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਕਾਨਪਰੀਕਲਕੇਧੁਨਿਆਰਤ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਭਰੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ 'ਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ' ਦੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਈ ॥੩॥
They cried out in anguish many times and ultimately their consternation was heard by the Lord.3.

ਬਿਸਨਾਦਕਦੇਵਲੇਖਬਿਮਨੰ॥
ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਦਾਸ ਮਨ (ਬਿਮਨ) ਵੇਖਿਆ
ਮ੍ਰਿਦਹਾਸਕਰੀਕਰਕਾਲਧੁਨੰ॥
ਤਾਂ 'ਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ' ਨੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਮੁਸਕਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ-
When the Immanent Lord saw the air-vehicle of Vishnu and other gods, He raised a sound and smiled and addressed Vishnu-thus :
ਅਵਤਾਰਧਰੋਰਘੁਨਾਥਹਰੰ॥
ਹੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ! (ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਰਘੁਨਾਥ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੋ
ਚਿਰਰਾਜਕਰੋਸੁਖਸੋਅਵਧੰ॥੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਚਿਰ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਅਵਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਖ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਰਾਜ ਕਰੋ ॥੪॥
“Manifest yourself as Raghunath (Ram) and rule over Oudh for a long time.”4.
ਬਿਸਨੇਸਧੁਣੰਸੁਣਬ੍ਰਹਮਮੁਖੰ॥
ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਨੇ 'ਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ' ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਆਗਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ)।
ਅਬਸੁਧਚਲੀਰਘੁਬੰਸਕਥੰ॥
ਹੁਣ (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੋਂ) ਨਿਰੋਲ ਰਘੁਬੰਸ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਚੱਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
Vishnu heard this command from the mouth of the Lord (and did as ordered). Now begins the story of Raghu clan.
ਜੁਪੈਛੋਰਕਥਾਕਵਿਯਾਹਰਢੈ॥
ਜੋ ਕਵੀ ਇਸ ਕਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਕਥਨ ਕਰੇ,
ਇਨਬਾਤਨਕੋਇਕਗ੍ਰੰਥਬਢੈ॥੫॥
ਤਾਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੫॥
It the poet describe with all the nattation.5.
ਤਿਹਤੇਕਹੀਥੋਰੀਐਬੀਨਕਥਾ॥
ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਥੋੜੀ ਚੋਣਵੀ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਬਲਿਤ੍ਵੈਉਪਜੀਬੁਧਮਧਿਜਥਾ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ)-ਤੇਰੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿੰਨੀ ਕੁ ਮੇਰੀ) ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
Therefore, O Lord! I compose in brief this significant story according to the intellect given to me by thee.
ਜਹਭੂਲਿਭਈਹਮਤੇਲਹੀਯੋ॥
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੁਲ ਹੋਈ ਜਾਣ ਲਵੋ,
ਸੁਕਬੋਤਹਅਛ੍ਰਬਨਾਕਹੀਯੋ॥੬॥
ਹੇ ਕਵੀਓ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਥਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ ॥੬॥
If there is any lapses on part, for that I am answerable, therefore, O Lord! Grant me strength to compose this poem in appropriate language.6.
ਰਘੁਰਾਜਭਯੋਰਘੁਬੰਸਮਣੰ॥
ਰਾਘਵ ਕੁਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਣੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ-ਸ਼ਾਲੀ 'ਰਘੁ' ਰਾਜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ,
ਜਿਹਰਾਜਕਰਯੋਪੁਰਅਉਧਘਣੰ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਅਯੁਧਿਆ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਿਰ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
The king Raghu looked very impressive as a gem in the necklace of raghu clan. He ruled over Oudh for a long time.
ਸੋਊਕਾਲਜਿਣਯੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਰਾਜਜਬੰ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਮਹਾਰਾਜੇ (ਰਘੁ) ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਨੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ
ਭੂਅਰਾਜਕਰਯੋਅਜਰਾਜਤਬੰ॥੭॥
ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ) 'ਅਜ' ਨੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੭॥
When the Death (KAL) ultimately brought his end, then the king Aj ruled over the earth.7.
ਅਜਰਾਜਹਣਯੋਜਬਕਾਲਬਲੀ॥
'ਅਜ' ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਸੁਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਕਥਾਦਸਰਥਚਲੀ॥
ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜ-ਕਥਾ ਦਸ਼ਰਥ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਰੀ।
When the king Aj was destroyed by the mighty destroyer Lord, then the story of Raghu clan moved forward through king Dasrath.
ਚਿਰਰਾਜਕਰੋਸੁਖਸੋਂਅਵਧੰ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਬੜੇ ਚਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਅਯੁਧਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਖ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਮ੍ਰਿਗਮਾਰਬਿਹਾਰਬਣੰਸੁਪ੍ਰਭੰ॥੮॥
ਉਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ॥੮॥
He also ruled over Oudh with comfort and passed his comfortable days in the forest killing the deer.8.
ਜਗਧਰਮਕਥਾਪ੍ਰਚੁਰੀਤਬਤੇ॥
ਜਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਤਦ ਤੋਂ ਪਸਰ ਗਈ,
ਸੁਮਿਤ੍ਰੇਸਮਹੀਪਭਯੋਜਬਤੇ॥
ਜਦ ਤੋਂ ਦਸ਼ਰਥ (ਸੁਮਿਤ੍ਰੇਸ) ਰਾਜਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
The Dharma of sacrifice was extensively propagated, when Dasrath, the Lord of Sumitra became the king.
ਦਿਨਰੈਣਬਨੈਸਨਬੀਚਫਿਰੈ॥
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਘਣੇ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਮ੍ਰਿਗਰਾਜਕਰੀਮ੍ਰਿਗਨੇਤਹਰੈ॥੯॥
ਸ਼ੇਰ, ਹਾਥੀ ਤੇ ਹਿਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੱਤ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ॥੯॥
The king moved in the forest day and night and hunted the tigers, elephants and deer.9.
ਇਹਭਾਤਿਕਥਾਉਹਠੌਰਭਈ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੋਈ,
ਅਬਰਾਮਜਯਾਪਰਬਾਤਗਈ॥
ਹੁਣ ਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ (ਜਯਾ) ਵਲ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਮੁੜਦੀ ਹੈ।
In this way, the story advanced in Oudh and now the part of the mother of Ram comes before us.
ਕੁਹੜਾਮਜਹਾਸੁਨੀਐਸਹਰੰ॥
ਜਿਥੋ 'ਕੁਹੜਾਮ' ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਸੁਣੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਹਕੌਸਲਰਾਜਨ੍ਰਿਪੇਸਬਰੰ॥੧੦॥
ਉਥੇ ਕੌਸ਼ਲ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ ॥੧੦॥
There was a brave king in the city of Kuhram, which was known as the kingdom of Kaushal.10.
ਉਪਜੀਤਹਧਾਮਸੁਤਾਕੁਸਲੰ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਿਆ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਇਕ) ਕੰਨਿਆ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ,
ਜਿਹਜੀਤਲਈਸਸਿਅੰਗਕਲੰ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਲਾਵਾਂ (ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ) ਜਿੱਤ ਲਈ।
In his home was born an extremely beautiful daughter Kaushalya, who conquered all the beauty of the moon.
ਜਬਹੀਸੁਧਿਪਾਇਸੁਯੰਬ੍ਰਕਰਿਓ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਨੇ ਹੋਸ਼ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਤਾਂ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) 'ਸੁਅੰਬਰ' ਰਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅਵਧੇਸਨਰੇਸਹਿਚੀਨਬਰਿਓ॥੧੧॥
(ਕੁਸ਼ਲਿਆ ਨੇ) ਚੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਯੁੱਧਿਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ (ਦਸ਼ਰਥ) ਨੂੰ ਵਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੧॥
When she grew of age, she selected Dasrath, the king of Oudh, in the ceremony of swayyamvara and married him.11.
