ਗੁਰੁਪੂਰਾਪਾਇਆਵਡਭਾਗੀਹਰਿਮੰਤ੍ਰੁਦੀਆਮਨੁਠਾਢੇ॥੧॥
(ਪਰ ਹੁਣ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
I have found the Perfect Guru, through great good fortune; He has given me the Mantra of the Lord's Name, and my mind has become quiet and tranquil. ||1||
ਰਾਮਹਮਸਤਿਗੁਰਲਾਲੇਕਾਂਢੇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
O Lord, I am the slave of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮਰੈਮਸਤਕਿਦਾਗੁਦਗਾਨਾਹਮਕਰਜਗੁਰੂਬਹੁਸਾਢੇ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਬਹੁਤ ਕਰਜ਼ਾ (ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਉਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਵਜ਼ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਦਾ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਦਾਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
My forehead has been branded with His brand; I owe such a great debt to the Guru.
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁਪੁੰਨੁਬਹੁਕੀਆਭਉਦੁਤਰੁਤਾਰਿਪਰਾਢੇ॥੨॥
(ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਭਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਸੀ ॥੨॥
He has been so generous and kind to me; He has carried me across the treacherous and terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਜਿਨਕਉਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਰਿਦੈਹਰਿਨਾਹੀਤਿਨਕੂਰੇਗਾਢਨਗਾਢੇ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ (ਜੇ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੋਕਾਚਾਰੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਖਾਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ) ਉਹ ਝੂਠੇ ਗੰਢ-ਤੁਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who do not have love for the Lord within their hearts, harbor only false intentions and goals.
ਜਿਉਪਾਣੀਕਾਗਦੁਬਿਨਸਿਜਾਤਹੈਤਿਉਮਨਮੁਖਗਰਭਿਗਲਾਢੇ॥੩॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ (ਪਿਆ) ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
As paper breaks down and dissolves in water, the self-willed manmukh wastes away in arrogant pride. ||3||
ਹਮਜਾਨਿਆਕਛੂਨਜਾਨਹਆਗੈਜਿਉਹਰਿਰਾਖੈਤਿਉਠਾਢੇ॥
(ਪਰ ਸਾਡੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ) ਨਾਹ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ) ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਕੋਈ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ-ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂਗੇ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਟਿਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
I know nothing, and I do not know the future; as the Lord keeps me, so do I stand.
ਹਮਭੂਲਚੂਕਗੁਰਕਿਰਪਾਧਾਰਹੁਜਨਨਾਨਕਕੁਤਰੇਕਾਢੇ॥੪॥੭॥੨੧॥੫੯॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੀ ਫਬਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰੋ ਤੇ ਆਖੋ-) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਚੁੱਕਾਂ (ਅਣਡਿੱਠ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੋ, ਅਸੀਂ (ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦਰ ਦੇ) ਕੂਕਰ ਅਖਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੧॥੫੯॥
For my failings and mistakes, O Guru, grant me Your Grace; servant Nanak is Your obedient dog. ||4||7||21||59||
ਗਉੜੀਪੂਰਬੀਮਹਲਾ੪॥
Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Mahalaa:
ਕਾਮਿਕਰੋਧਿਨਗਰੁਬਹੁਭਰਿਆਮਿਲਿਸਾਧੂਖੰਡਲਖੰਡਾਹੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The body-village is filled to overflowing with sexual desire and anger, which were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.
ਪੂਰਬਿਲਿਖਤਲਿਖੇਗੁਰੁਪਾਇਆਮਨਿਹਰਿਲਿਵਮੰਡਲਮੰਡਾਹੇ॥੧॥
ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਦੀ ਸਜਾਵਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਕਰਿਸਾਧੂਅੰਜੁਲੀਪੁੰਨੁਵਡਾਹੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਨੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
Greet the Holy Saint with your palms pressed together; this is an act of great merit.
ਕਰਿਡੰਡਉਤਪੁਨੁਵਡਾਹੇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਬੜਾ ਭਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bow down before Him; this is a virtuous action indeed. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਕਤਹਰਿਰਸਸਾਦੁਨਜਾਨਿਆਤਿਨਅੰਤਰਿਹਉਮੈਕੰਡਾਹੇ॥
ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਕੰਡਾ (ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ।
The wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not know the taste of the Lord's sublime essence. The thorn of egotism is embedded deep within them.
ਜਿਉਜਿਉਚਲਹਿਚੁਭੈਦੁਖੁਪਾਵਹਿਜਮਕਾਲੁਸਹਹਿਸਿਰਿਡੰਡਾਹੇ॥੨॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਾਰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਚਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ (ਉਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਕੰਡਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਚੁੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ-ਰੂਪ ਡੰਡਾ (ਡੰਡੇ ਦੀ ਚੋਟ) ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
The more they walk away, the deeper it sticks into them, and the more they suffer in pain, until finally, the Messenger of Death smashes his club against their heads. ||2||
ਹਰਿਜਨਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮਿਸਮਾਣੇਦੁਖੁਜਨਮਮਰਣਭਵਖੰਡਾਹੇ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ (ਦੇ ਗੇੜ) ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ (ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The humble servants of the Lord are absorbed in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The pain of birth and the fear of death are eradicated.
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀਪੁਰਖੁਪਾਇਆਪਰਮੇਸਰੁਬਹੁਸੋਭਖੰਡਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਹੇ॥੩॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
They have obtained the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they obtain great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. ||3||
ਹਮਗਰੀਬਮਸਕੀਨਪ੍ਰਭਤੇਰੇਹਰਿਰਾਖੁਰਾਖੁਵਡਵਡਾਹੇ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਹਾਂ, ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
I am poor and meek, God, but I am Yours! Save me, please save me, O Greatest of the Great!
ਜਨਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਅਧਾਰੁਟੇਕਹੈਹਰਿਨਾਮੇਹੀਸੁਖੁਮੰਡਾਹੇ॥੪॥੮॥੨੨॥੬੦॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥੨੨॥੬੦॥
Servant Nanak takes the Sustenance and Support of the Naam. In the Name of the Lord, he enjoys celestial peace. ||4||8||22||60||
ਗਉੜੀਪੂਰਬੀਮਹਲਾ੪॥
Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Mahalaa:
ਇਸੁਗੜਮਹਿਹਰਿਰਾਮਰਾਇਹੈਕਿਛੁਸਾਦੁਨਪਾਵੈਧੀਠਾ॥
ਇਸ (ਸਰੀਰ-) ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਰਾਜਾ ਹਰੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਢੀਠ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਅੰਦਰ-ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ) ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
Within this body-fortress is the Lord, the Sovereign Lord King, but the stubborn ones do not find the taste.
ਹਰਿਦੀਨਦਇਆਲਿਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁਕੀਆਹਰਿਗੁਰਸਬਦੀਚਖਿਡੀਠਾ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ) ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਚ ਮੁਚ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
When the Lord, Merciful to the meek, showed His Mercy, I found and tasted it, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||
ਰਾਮਹਰਿਕੀਰਤਨੁਗੁਰਲਿਵਮੀਠਾ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਲਿਵ (ਲਾ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰੋ। (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਰਸ) ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Lovingly focused upon the Guru, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise has become sweet to me. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿਅਗਮੁਅਗੋਚਰੁਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਹੈਮਿਲਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਲਾਗਿਬਸੀਠਾ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੀ-ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਵਕੀਲ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ (ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ)।
The Lord, the Supreme Lord God, is Inaccessible and Unfathomable. Those who are committed to the True Guru, the Divine Intermediary, meet the Lord.
ਜਿਨਗੁਰਬਚਨਸੁਖਾਨੇਹੀਅਰੈਤਿਨਆਗੈਆਣਿਪਰੀਠਾ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ) ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਪਰੋਸ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Those whose hearts are pleased with the Guru's Teachings - the Lord's Presence is revealed to them. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖਹੀਅਰਾਅਤਿਕਠੋਰੁਹੈਤਿਨਅੰਤਰਿਕਾਰਕਰੀਠਾ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਬੜਾ ਕਰੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕਾਲਖ ਹੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The hearts of the self-willed manmukhs are hard and cruel; their inner beings are dark.
ਬਿਸੀਅਰਕਉਬਹੁਦੂਧੁਪੀਆਈਐਬਿਖੁਨਿਕਸੈਫੋਲਿਫੁਲੀਠਾ॥੩॥
ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਧ ਪਿਲਾਈ ਜਾਈਏ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਫੋਲਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੀ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
Even if the poisonous snake is fed large amounts of milk, it will still yield only poison. ||3||
ਹਰਿਪ੍ਰਭਆਨਿਮਿਲਾਵਹੁਗੁਰੁਸਾਧੂਘਸਿਗਰੁੜੁਸਬਦੁਮੁਖਿਲੀਠਾ॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੂਟੀ ਘਸਾ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਚੂਸਿਆਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਉਤਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Lord God, please unite me with the Holy Guru, so that I might joyfully grind and eat the Shabad.
ਜਨਨਾਨਕਗੁਰਕੇਲਾਲੇਗੋਲੇਲਗਿਸੰਗਤਿਕਰੂਆਮੀਠਾ॥੪॥੯॥੨੩॥੬੧॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਅਸੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਕੌੜਾ (ਸੁਭਾਉ) ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੨੩॥੬੧॥
Servant Nanak is the slave of the Guru; in the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, the bitter becomes sweet. ||4||9||23||61||
ਗਉੜੀਪੂਰਬੀਮਹਲਾ੪॥
Gauree Poorbee, Fourth Mahalaa:
ਹਰਿਹਰਿਅਰਥਿਸਰੀਰੁਹਮਬੇਚਿਆਪੂਰੇਗੁਰਕੈਆਗੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
For the sake of the Lord, Har, Har, I have sold my body to the Perfect Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਦਾਤੈਨਾਮੁਦਿੜਾਇਆਮੁਖਿਮਸਤਕਿਭਾਗਸਭਾਗੇ॥੧॥
ਦਾਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
The True Guru, the Giver, has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me. A very blessed and fortunate destiny is recorded upon my forehead. ||1||
ਰਾਮਗੁਰਮਤਿਹਰਿਲਿਵਲਾਗੇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਮ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, I am lovingly centered on the Lord. ||1||Pause||
