ਦੁਖਦਾਹਤਸੰਤਨਕੇਆਯੋ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁਖ (ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ ਹੀ) ਸਾੜਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ,
Thou hast been destroying the sufferings of the saints
ਦੁਖਦਾਹਨਪ੍ਰਭਤਦਿਨਕਹਾਯੋ॥੧੧॥
ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੂੰ) 'ਦੁਖ-ਦਾਹਨ' ਅਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧੧॥
Therefore Thou art called ‘Dukh-dahan’ (the destroyer of sufferings.11.
ਚਉਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਰਹਾਅਨੰਤਅੰਤਨਹੀਪਾਯੋ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਅਨੰਤ (ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਰ) ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ (ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਤੇਰਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
Thou art Infinite and none could know Thy limits
ਯਾਤੇਨਾਮੁਬਿਅੰਤਕਹਾਯੋ॥
ਤਾਂ ਤੇ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਂ 'ਬੇਅੰਤ' ਪ੍ਰਚਲਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Therefore thou art called ‘Breant’ (the Boundless Lord)
ਜਗਮੋਰੂਪਸਭਨਕੇਧਰਤਾ॥
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਤੂੰ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
Thou createst the forms of all in the world
ਯਾਤੇਨਾਮੁਬਖਾਨੀਯਤਕਰਤਾ॥੧੨॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਂ 'ਕਰਤਾ' ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
Therefore thou art called Creator.12.
ਚਉਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਕਿਨਹੂੰਕਹੂੰਨਤਾਹਿਲਖਾਯੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਣਾਇਆ,
None hath been able to comprehend Thee,
ਇਹਕਰਨਾਮੁਅਲਖਕਹਾਯੋ॥
ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਨਾਂ 'ਅਲਖ' ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Therefore thou hast been called ‘Alakh’ (Incompre-hensible)
ਜੋਨਜਗਤਮੈਕਬਹੂੰਨਆਯਾ॥
(ਉਹ) ਕੋਈ ਜੂਨ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ,
Thou dost not take birth in the world
ਯਾਤੇਸਭੌਅਜੋਨਬਤਾਯਾ॥੧੩॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਭ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) 'ਅਜੋਨ' ਦਸਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
Therefore all called Thee ‘Ajon’ (Unborn).13.
ਚਉਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਕਸਬਹੀਪਚਹਾਰੇ॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਆਦਿ ਸਾਰੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ) ਥਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
Brahma and others have got tired in knowing Thy end
ਬਿਸਨਮਹੇਸ੍ਵੁਰਕਉਨਬਿਚਾਰੇ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਕੌਣ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਹਨ।
Who are the helpless gods Vishnu and Shiva?
ਚੰਦਸੂਰਜਿਨਕਰੇਬਿਚਾਰਾ॥
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਵਿਚਾਰਪੂਰਵਕ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਹੈ,
The sun and moon also meditate on Thee
ਤਾਤੇਜਾਨੀਯਤਹੈਕਰਤਾਰਾ॥੧੪॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) 'ਕਰਤਾਰ' ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
Therefore Thou art known as the Creator.14.
ਚਉਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਸਦਾਅਭੇਖਅਭੇਖੀਰਹਈ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਭੇਖ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੇਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ।
Thou art ever guiseless, and shall be guiseless
ਤਾਤੇਜਗਤਅਭੇਖੀਕਹਈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਗਤ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) 'ਅਭੇਖੀ' ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Therefore the world calls Thee ‘Abhekhi’ (Guiseless)
ਅਲਖਰੂਪਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਹਿਜਾਨਾ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਅਲੱਖ ਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ, (ਅਜੇ ਤਕ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ,
None knows Thy Invisible form
ਤਿਹਕਰਜਾਤਅਲੇਖਬਖਾਨਾ॥੧੫॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ (ਤੂੰ) 'ਅਲੇਖ' ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
Therefore Thou art described as ‘Alekh’ (Incompre-hensible).15.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਰੂਪਅਨੂਪਸਰੂਪਅਪਾਰਾ॥
(ਤੇਰਾ) ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਪਾਰ ਹੈ,
Thy beauty is unique and Thy forms are Innumerable
ਭੇਖਅਭੇਖਸਭਨਤੇਨਿਆਰਾ॥
ਭੇਖ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਆਰਾ ਹੈਂ।
Thou art distinctly separate from all guise and not committed to any faith or idea
ਦਾਇਕਸਭੋਅਜਾਚੀਸਭਤੇ॥
ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ (ਖ਼ੁਦ) ਅਜਾਚਕ ਹੈਂ,
Thou art the Universal Donor and Thou Thyself dost not beg
ਜਾਨਲਯੋਕਰਤਾਹਮਤਬਤੇ॥੧੬॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) 'ਕਰਤਾ' ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
Therefore I have known Thee as the Creator.16.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਲਗਨਸਗਨਤੇਰਹਤਨਿਰਾਲਮ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਲਗਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਗਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
Thou art not influenced by any omen or auspicious time
ਹੈਯਹਕਥਾਜਗਤਮੈਮਾਲਮ॥
ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ।
This fact is known to all the world
ਜੰਤ੍ਰਮੰਤ੍ਰਤੰਤ੍ਰਨਰਿਝਾਯਾ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਜੰਤਰ ਮੰਤਰ ਤੰਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ
None of the Yantras, Mantras and Tantras please Thee
ਭੇਖਕਰਤਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਹਿਪਾਯਾ॥੧੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੧੭॥
And none could realise Thee by adopting different guises.17.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਜਗਆਪਨਆਪਨਉਰਝਾਨਾ॥
ਜਗਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਉਲਝਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ,
All the world is engaged in its own interests
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਕਾਹੂਨਪਛਾਨਾ॥
(ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ।
And none comprehends the Transcendental Brahman
ਇਕਮੜੀਅਨਕਬਰਨਵੇਜਾਂਹੀ॥
ਇਕ ਮੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ (ਪੂਜਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ) ਦੂਜੇ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
For Thy realization many go to the cremation ground and graveyards
ਦੁਹੂੰਅਨਮੈਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰਨਾਹੀ॥੧੮॥
ਪਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹੀਂ (ਥਾਈਂ) ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
But the Lord is not there in both of them.18.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਏਦੋਊਮੋਹਬਾਦਮੋਪਚੇ॥
ਇਹ (ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ) ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਦ-ਵਿਵਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਉਲਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Both of them (the Hindus and Muslims) are destroying themselves in attachments and in vain discussions and disputes
ਇਨਤੇਨਾਥਨਿਰਾਲੇਬਚੇ॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮਸੱਤਾ ਨਿਰਾਲੀ ਹੈ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ)।
But O Lord! Thou art distinctly separate from both of them
ਜਾਤੇਛੂਟਿਗਯੋਭ੍ਰਮਉਰਕਾ॥
ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭਰਮ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
He, with whose realization, the illusion of the mind is removed
ਤਿਹੱਆਗੈਹਿੰਦੂਕਿਆਤੁਰਕਾ॥੧੯॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਤੁਰਕ ॥੧੯॥
Before that Lord, none is a Hindu of a Muslim.19.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਇਕਤਸਬੀਇਕਮਾਲਾਧਰਹੀ॥
ਇਕ (ਪਾਸੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ) ਤਸਬੀ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ (ਪਾਸੇ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਨੇ) ਮਾਲਾ।
One of them wears a Tasbi (the rosary of Muslims) and the other one wears Mala (the rosary of a Hindu)
ਏਕਕੁਰਾਨਪੁਰਾਨਉਚਰਹੀ॥
ਇਕ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਅਤੇ (ਦੂਜੇ) ਪੁਰਾਣ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ।
One of them recites the Quran and the other one reads Puranas
ਕਰਤਬਿਰੁੱਧਗਏਮਰਮੂੜਾ॥
ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The adherents of both the religions are foolishly dying in opposing each other,
ਪ੍ਰਭਕੋਰੰਗੁਨਲਾਗਾਗੂੜਾ॥੨੦॥
(ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ॥੨੦॥
And none of them is dyed in the love of the Lord.20.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਜੋਜੋਰੰਗਏਕਕੇਰਾਚੇ॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਇਕ (ਪਰਮ ਸੱਤਾ) ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
Those who are imbued in the love of the Lord,
ਤੇਤੇਲੋਕਲਾਜਤਜਿਨਾਚੇ॥
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਲਾਜ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਉਠ ਕੇ (ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ) ਝੂਮ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
They forsake their shyness and dance in ecstasy
ਆਦਿਪੁਰਖਜਿਨਏਕੁਪਛਾਨਾ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
Those who have recognized that Primal Purusha,
ਦੁਤੀਆਭਾਵਨਮਨਮਹਿਆਨਾ॥੨੧॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ॥੨੧॥
The duality is destroyed form their hearts.21.
ਚੌਪਈ॥
ਚੌਪਈ:
CHAUPAI
ਜੋਜੋਭਾਵਦੁਤੀਅਮਹਿਰਾਚੇ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਭਾਵ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
Those who are absorbed in duality,
ਤੇਤੇਮੀਤਮਿਲਨਤੇਬਾਚੇ॥
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਮ-ਮਿਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝੇ ਹਨ।
They are far away from the union of the Lord. Their supreme friend
ਏਕਪੁਰਖਜਿਨਨੈਕਪਛਾਨਾ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
They who have recognized the Supreme Purusha even a little,
ਤਿਨਹੀਪਰਮਤਤਕੱਹਜਾਨਾ॥੨੨॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮ-ਤਤ੍ਵ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੨॥
They have Comprehended Him as the Supreme Essence.22.

ਜੋਗੀਸੰਨਿਆਸੀਹੈਜੇਤੇ॥
ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵੀ ਯੋਗੀਆਂ, ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀਆਂ,
All the Yogis and Sannyasis
ਮੁੰਡੀਆਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਗਨਕੇਤੇ॥
ਮੁੰਡੀਆਂ (ਸਰੇਵੜਿਆਂ) ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਹਨ,
All the ascetics and monks with shaven heads and Muslims
