ਇਨਕੋਕਾਢਿਧਰਨਤੇਦੀਨਾ॥੬॥੨੯੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਰਾਜ ਦੀ) ਧਰਤੀ (ਦੀ ਸੀਮਾ) ਤੋਂ ਕਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥੨੯੬॥
“And hath ousted them from his bundaries.”6.296.

ਇਮਬਾਤਜਬੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੇਸੁਨਿਯੰ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੇ) ਰਾਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣੀ,
When they heard the king saying in this manner,
ਗ੍ਰਹਬੈਠਸਬੈਦਿਜਮੰਤ੍ਰਕੀਯੰ॥
(ਤਦ) ਘਰ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ
All the Brahmins sat in their houses and decided,
ਅਜਸੈਨਅਜੈਭਟਦਾਸਸੁਤੰ॥
ਕਿ ਦਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਜਿਤ ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰ ਹੈ
That this son of maid-servant is unconquerable hero and his army is unconquerable.
ਅਤਦੁਹਕਰਕੁਤਸਿਤਕ੍ਰੂਰਮਤੰ॥੭॥੨੯੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਠੋਰ, ਭੈੜੇ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾੜੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਾਲ ਹੈ ॥੭॥੨੯੭॥
He is very stern and a man of vicious intellect and actions.7.297.
ਮਿਲਖਾਇਤਉਖੋਵੈਜਨਮਜਗੰ॥
(ਜੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਭੋਜਨ) ਖਾਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
If we eat in his company, then we lose our birth in the world
ਨਹਿਖਾਤਤੁਜਾਤਹੈਕਾਲਮਗੰ॥
(ਜੇ) ਨਾ ਖਾਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
If we do not eat, then we will have to go in the jaws of death.
ਮਿਲਮਿਤ੍ਰਸੁਕੀਜੈਕਉਨਮਤੰ॥
(ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਹੇ ਮਿਤਰੋ! ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰੋ
After assembling we should take such decision,
ਜਿਹਭਾਤਰਹੇਜਗਆਜਪਤੰ॥੮॥੨੯੮॥
ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਅਜ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਏ ॥੮॥੨੯੮॥
With which we keep up our honour in the world.8.298.
ਸੁਨਰਾਜਨਰਾਜਮਹਾਨਮਤੰ॥
(ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ-) ਹੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ, ਮਹਾਨ ਮਤ ਵਾਲੇ! ਸੁਣੋ।
After taking decision, they said to the king : “O king of great intellect, listen,
ਅਨਭੀਤਅਜੀਤਸਮਸਤਛਿਤੰ॥
ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ (ਛਿਤੰ) (ਉਤੇ ਇਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ) ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਤ ਹੋ।
“Thou art fearless and unconquerable monarch on the whole earth
ਅਨਗਾਹਅਥਾਹਅਨੰਤਦਲੰ॥
ਨਾ ਗਾਹੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਥਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ, ਅਨੰਤ ਦਲ ਵਾਲੇ,
“Thou art unfathomable, bottomless and master of innumerable forces
ਅਨਭੰਗਅਗੰਜਮਹਾਪ੍ਰਬਲੰ॥੯॥੨੯੯॥
ਨਾ ਟੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਨਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਮਹਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਹੋ ॥੯॥੨੯੯॥
“Thou art invincible, unassailable and Soverrign of Supreme might.9.299.
ਇਹਠਉਰਨਛਤ੍ਰੀਏਕਨਰੰ॥
ਇਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਛਤਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
“There is not even one Kshatriya in this place.
ਸੁਨਸਾਚੁਮਹਾਨ੍ਰਿਪਰਾਜਬਰੰ॥
ਹੇ ਮਹਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਇਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ।
“O great and superb monarch, listen to his truth.”
ਕਹਿਕੈਦਿਜਸਉਉਠਿਜਾਤਭਏ॥
ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
Uttering these words, the Brahmins got up and went away
ਵੇਹਆਨਿਜਸੂਸਬਤਾਇਦਏ॥੧੦॥੩੦੦॥
ਉਧਰ ਜਸੂਸ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਦਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਕਿ ਅਸੁਮੇਧ ਤੇ ਅਸੁਮੇਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਹਨ) ॥੧੦॥੩੦੦॥
But the spies gave the news (of the presence of his brothers there).10.300.
ਤਹਾਸਿੰਘਅਜੈਮਨਿਰੋਸਬਢੀ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਅਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਵਧ ਗਿਆ।
Then the anger increased in the mind of Ajai Singh.
ਕਰਿਕੋਪਚਮੂੰਚਤੁਰੰਗਚਢੀ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
In great rage, he ordered his forces of four types to move forward.
ਤਹਜਾਇਪਰੀਜਹਖਤ੍ਰਬਰੰ॥
(ਉਹ) ਉਥੇ ਜਾ ਪਈ ਜਿਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਛਤਰੀ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ) (ਲੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ)।
The army reached there where both the superb Kshatriyas were stationed.
ਬਹੁਕੂਦਿਪਰੇਦਿਜਸਾਮਘਰੰ॥੧੧॥੩੦੧॥
ਉਹ (ਦੋਵੇਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਕੋਠੇ ਤੋਂ) ਟੱਪ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸ਼ਰਨੀ ਜਾ ਪਏ ॥੧੧॥੩੦੧॥
They jumped from the roof of the house into the abode of Sanaudhi Brahmin to take shelter.11.301.
ਦਿਜਮੰਡਲਬੈਠਿਬਿਚਾਰੁਕੀਯੋ॥
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ-ਸਮਾਜ ਨੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ।
The assembly of Brahmins met and reflected on the issue.
ਸਬਹੀਦਿਜਮੰਡਲਗੋਦਲੀਯੋ॥
ਸਾਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ-ਮੰਡਲੀ ਨੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ
The whole assembly affectionately kept the two in their midst.
ਕਹੁਕਉਨਸੁਬੈਠਿਬਿਚਾਰਕਰੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜਾ (ਉਪਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ)
They ruminated over the issue as to what measures be taken?
ਨ੍ਰਿਪਸਾਥਰਹੈਨਹੀਏਊਮਰੈ॥੧੨॥੩੦੨॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਰਹਿ ਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ (ਦੋਵੇਂ ਵੀ) ਨਾ ਮਰਨ ॥੧੨॥੩੦੨॥
So that they may not offend the king and also save the two refugees.12.302.
ਇਹਭਾਂਤਿਕਹੀਤਿਹਤਾਹਿਸਭੈ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਗੱਲ) ਕਹੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ) ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ
When they said these words, then all of them desired:
ਤੁਮਤੋਰਜਨੇਵਨਦੇਹੁਅਬੈ॥
ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੁਣੇ ਹੀ ਜੰਜੂ ਤੋੜ ਦਿਓ।
“Break the secred threads immediately.”
ਜੋਊਮਾਨਿਕਹਿਯੋਸੋਈਲੇਤਭਏ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਉਦੋਂ) ਕਹੀ ਗਈ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਜੂ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੇ,
Those who accepted it, they became without the thread.
ਤੇਊਬੈਸਹੁਇਬਾਣਜਕਰਤਭਏ॥੧੩॥੩੦੩॥
ਉਹ ਵੈਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਲਗ ਗਏ ॥੧੩॥੩੦੩॥
They became Vaishyas and took trade as their occupation.13.303.
ਜਿਹਤੋਰਜਨੇਊਨਕੀਨਹਠੰ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਨੇਊ ਨਾ ਤੋੜਨ ਦਾ ਹਠ ਕੀਤਾ,
Those who did not dare to break the thread doggedly
ਤਿਨਸਿਉਉਨਭੋਜੁਕੀਓਇਕਠੰ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
The two refugee kings dined together with them.
ਫਿਰਜਾਇਜਸੂਸਹਿਐਸਕਹਿਓ॥
ਫਿਰ ਜਾਸੂਸ ਨੇ (ਰਾਜਾ ਅਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ) ਇੰਜ ਕਿਹਾ,
Them the spies went and told (the king Ajai Singh),
ਇਨਮੈਉਨਮੈਇਕਭੇਦੁਰਹਿਓ॥੧੪॥੩੦੪॥
"ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ) ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰਾਂ) ਵਿਚ (ਅਜੇ) ਇਕ ਭੇਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ" ॥੧੪॥੩੦੪॥
There is one difference between the former and the latter.14.304.
ਪੁਨਿਬੋਲਿਉਠਿਯੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਸਰਬਦਿਜੰ॥
ਫਿਰ ਰਾਜਾ (ਅਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਿਆ,
Then the king (Ajai Singh) addressed all his Brahmins:
ਨਹਿਛਤ੍ਰਤੁਦੇਹੁਸੁਤਾਹਿਤੁਅੰ॥
ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਛਤਰੀ (ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਦਿੰਦੇ) ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਦਿਓ।
“If there is no Kshatriya amongst them, then give your daughters in marriage to them.”
ਮਰਿਗੇਸੁਨਿਬਾਤਮਨੋਸਬਹੀ॥
(ਇਹ) ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮਾਨੋ ਸਾਰੇ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ) ਮਰ ਗਏ ਹੋਣ
Hearing these words none replied as though they were dead.
ਉਠਿਕੈਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਜਾਤਭਏਤਬਹੀ॥੧੫॥੩੦੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ॥੧੫॥੩੦੫॥
Then they got up and went away to their homes.15.305.
ਸਭਬੈਠਿਬਿਚਾਰਨਮੰਤ੍ਰਲਗੇ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ।
Then all gathered to take a decision.
ਸਭਸੋਕਕੇਸਾਗਰਬੀਚਡੁਬੇ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੋਗ ਦੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
All of them seemed to have been drowned in the ocean of sorrow.
ਵਹਿਬਾਧਬਹਿਠਅਤਿਤੇਊਹਠੰ॥
ਉਹ (ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹਣ ਲਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ (ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਵੀ) ਬੜੇ ਹਠੀ ਹਨ
He (Ajai Singh) wants to bind his brothers and the Brahmins were full of persistence,
ਹਮਏਦੋਊਭ੍ਰਾਤਚਲੈਇਕਠੰ॥੧੬॥੩੦੬॥
ਕਿ (ਅਸੀਂ) ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਚਲਾਂਗੇ ॥੧੬॥੩੦੬॥
We shall all side together with the brothers.’16.306.
ਹਠਕੀਨਦਿਜੈਤਿਨਲੀਨਸੁਤਾ॥
(ਸਨੌਢੀ) ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੇ ਹਠ ਕੀਤਾ (ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਜੈ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਲੈ ਲਈ
The Sanaudh Brahmin persisted in not returning the refugee brothers, then the king Ajai Singh married his daughter.
ਅਤਿਰੂਪਮਹਾਛਬਿਪਰਮਪ੍ਰਭਾ॥
ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੂਪਵਾਨ, ਮਹਾਨ ਛਬੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ।
She was very beautiful, winsome and glorious.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯੋਪੇਟਸਨੌਢਤੇਪੂਤਭਏ॥
ਉਸ ਸਨੌਢ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਤੋਂ (ਜੋ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ,
The sons born of that Sanaudh woman,
ਵਹਿਜਾਤਿਸਨੌਢਕਹਾਤਭਏ॥੧੭॥੩੦੭॥
ਉਹ ਸਨੌਢ ਜਾਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਏ ॥੧੭॥੩੦੭॥
Were called Sanaudh.17.307.
ਸੁਤਅਉਰਨਕੇਉਹਠਾਂਜੁਅਹੈ॥
ਹੋਰਨਾਂ (ਛਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ) ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜੋ ਉਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ,
The sons of other kshatryas, who lived at that place,
ਉਤਛਤ੍ਰੀਅਜਾਤਿਅਨੇਕਭਏ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਈ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਹੋਈਆਂ।
They became Kshatriyas of many junior ccastes.
