ਮਨਮਹਿਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਮਹਾਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ॥
ਜੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਬਲੀ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹੇ,
Within the mind dwell anger and massive ego.
ਪੂਜਾਕਰਹਿਬਹੁਤੁਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ॥
ਪਰ ਕਈ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇਵ) ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ,
Worship services are performed with great pomp and ceremony.
ਕਰਿਇਸਨਾਨੁਤਨਿਚਕ੍ਰਬਣਾਏ॥
ਜੇ (ਤੀਰਥ-ਆਦਿ ਉਤੇ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ (ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਚਿਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਲਾਏ ਜਾਣ,
Ritual cleansing baths are taken, and sacred marks are applied to the body.
ਅੰਤਰਕੀਮਲੁਕਬਹੀਨਜਾਏ॥੧॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਕਦੇ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ॥੧॥
But still, the filth and pollution within never depart. ||1||
ਇਤੁਸੰਜਮਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਕਿਨਹੀਨਪਾਇਆ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਿਸੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੇ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ,
No one has ever found God in this way.
ਭਗਉਤੀਮੁਦ੍ਰਾਮਨੁਮੋਹਿਆਮਾਇਆ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜੇ) ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹੇ, (ਪਰ) ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਚਿਹਨ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The sacred mudras - ritualistic hand gestures - are made, but the mind remains enticed by Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਪਾਪਕਰਹਿਪੰਚਾਂਕੇਬਸਿਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They commit sins, under the influence of the five thieves.
ਤੀਰਥਿਨਾਇਕਹਹਿਸਭਿਉਤਰੇ॥
(ਫਿਰ ਕਿਸੇ) ਤੀਰਥ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ) ਸਾਰੇ (ਪਾਪ) ਲਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
They bathe at sacred shrines, and claim that everything has been washed off.
ਬਹੁਰਿਕਮਾਵਹਿਹੋਇਨਿਸੰਕ॥
(ਤੇ) ਝਾਕਾ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਉਹੀ ਪਾਪ) ਕਰੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Then they commit them again, without fear of the consequences.
ਜਮਪੁਰਿਬਾਂਧਿਖਰੇਕਾਲੰਕ॥੨॥
(ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਤੇ) ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਅਪੜਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
The sinners are bound and gagged, and taken to the City of Death. ||2||
ਘੂਘਰਬਾਧਿਬਜਾਵਹਿਤਾਲਾ॥
(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਰਾਸਿ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਚ) ਤਾਲ ਵਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤਾਲ-ਸਿਰ ਨੱਚਦੇ ਹਨ),
The ankle-bells shake and the cymbals vibrate,
ਅੰਤਰਿਕਪਟੁਫਿਰਹਿਬੇਤਾਲਾ॥
ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗੀ-ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-) ਤਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
but those who have deception within wander lost like demons.
ਵਰਮੀਮਾਰੀਸਾਪੁਨਮੂਆ॥
ਜੇ ਸੱਪ ਦੀ ਖੁੱਡ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਏ, (ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਖੁੱਡ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੱਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਦਾ।
By destroying its hole, the snake is not killed.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁਸਭਕਿਛੁਜਾਨੈਜਿਨਿਤੂਕੀਆ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
God, who created you, knows everything. ||3||
ਪੂੰਅਰਤਾਪਗੇਰੀਕੇਬਸਤ੍ਰਾ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਤਪਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੇਰੀ-ਰੰਗੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾਈ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
You worship fire and wear saffron colored robes.
ਅਪਦਾਕਾਮਾਰਿਆਗ੍ਰਿਹਤੇਨਸਤਾ॥
(ਉਂਝ ਕਿਸੇ) ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਘਰੋਂ ਭੱਜਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Stung by your misfortune, you abandon your home.
ਦੇਸੁਛੋਡਿਪਰਦੇਸਹਿਧਾਇਆ॥
ਆਪਣਾ ਵਤਨ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Leaving your own country, you wander in foreign lands.
ਪੰਚਚੰਡਾਲਨਾਲੇਲੈਆਇਆ॥੪॥
(ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਚੰਡਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਲਈ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
But you bring the five rejects with you. ||4||
ਕਾਨਫਰਾਇਹਿਰਾਏਟੂਕਾ॥
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਕੰਨ ਪੜਵਾ ਕੇ (ਜੋਗੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪੇਟ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟਾਣ ਲਈ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਟੁੱਕਰ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
You have split your ears, and now you steal crumbs.
ਘਰਿਘਰਿਮਾਂਗੈਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵਨਤੇਚੂਕਾ॥
ਹਰੇਕ ਘਰ (ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ) ਤੇ (ਰੋਟੀ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸਗੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
You beg from door to door, but you fail to be satisfied.
ਬਨਿਤਾਛੋਡਿਬਦਨਦਰਿਪਰਨਾਰੀ॥
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਭੈੜੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
You have abandoned your own wife, but now you sneak glances at other women.
ਵੇਸਿਨਪਾਈਐਮਹਾਦੁਖਿਆਰੀ॥੫॥
(ਨਿਰੇ) ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਜਿੰਦ) ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
God is not found by wearing religious robes; you are utterly miserable! ||5||
ਬੋਲੈਨਾਹੀਹੋਇਬੈਠਾਮੋਨੀ॥
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ, ਮੋਨਧਾਰੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
He does not speak; he is on silence.
ਅੰਤਰਿਕਲਪਭਵਾਈਐਜੋਨੀ॥
(ਉਸਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਤਾਂ) ਕਾਮਨਾ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਭਟਕਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
But he is filled with desire; he is made to wander in reincarnation.
ਅੰਨਤੇਰਹਤਾਦੁਖੁਦੇਹੀਸਹਤਾ॥
(ਉਹ) ਅੰਨ (ਖਾਣ) ਤੋਂ ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ (ਹੀ) ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Abstaining from food, his body suffers in pain.
ਹੁਕਮੁਨਬੂਝੈਵਿਆਪਿਆਮਮਤਾ॥੬॥
(ਜਦ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਮਮਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ (ਹੀ) ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
He does not realize the Hukam of the Lord's Command; he is afflicted by possessiveness. ||6||
ਬਿਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਕਿਨੈਨਪਾਈਪਰਮਗਤੇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ,
Without the True Guru, no one has attained the supreme status.
ਪੂਛਹੁਸਗਲਬੇਦਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੇ॥
ਬੇ-ਸ਼ੱਕ ਵੇਦ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
Go ahead and ask all the Vedas and the Simritees.
ਮਨਮੁਖਕਰਮਕਰੈਅਜਾਈ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਵਿਅਰਥ (ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ),
The self-willed manmukhs do useless deeds.
ਜਿਉਬਾਲੂਘਰਠਉਰਨਠਾਈ॥੭॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੇਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
They are like a house of sand, which cannot stand. ||7||
ਜਿਸਨੋਭਏਗੋੁਬਿੰਦਦਇਆਲਾ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ,
One unto whom the Lord of the Universe becomes Merciful,
ਗੁਰਕਾਬਚਨੁਤਿਨਿਬਾਧਿਓਪਾਲਾ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਪੱਲੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ।
sews the Word of the Guru's Shabad into his robes.
ਕੋਟਿਮਧੇਕੋਈਸੰਤੁਦਿਖਾਇਆ॥
(ਪਰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ) ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Out of millions, it is rare that such a Saint is seen.
ਨਾਨਕੁਤਿਨਕੈਸੰਗਿਤਰਾਇਆ॥੮॥
ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
O Nanak, with him, we are carried across. ||8||
ਜੇਹੋਵੈਭਾਗੁਤਾਦਰਸਨੁਪਾਈਐ॥
ਜੇ (ਮੱਥੇ ਦਾ) ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
If one has such good destiny, then the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is obtained.
ਆਪਿਤਰੈਸਭੁਕੁਟੰਬੁਤਰਾਈਐ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉਦੂਜਾ॥੨॥
(ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਆਪ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ॥੨॥
He saves himself, and carries across all his family as well. ||1|| Second Pause ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Prabhaatee, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਸਿਮਰਤਨਾਮੁਕਿਲਬਿਖਸਭਿਕਾਟੇ॥
(ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, all the sins are erased.
ਧਰਮਰਾਇਕੇਕਾਗਰਫਾਟੇ॥
ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਭੀ ਪਾਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The accounts held by the Righteous Judge of Dharma are torn up.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਮਿਲਿਹਰਿਰਸੁਪਾਇਆ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ,
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਰਿਦਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਇਆ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥
I have found the Sublime Essence of the Lord. The Supreme Lord God has melted into my heart. ||1||
ਰਾਮਰਮਤਹਰਿਹਰਿਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਆ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ,
Dwelling on the Lord, Har, Har, I have found peace.
ਤੇਰੇਦਾਸਚਰਨਸਰਨਾਇਆ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜਿਹੜਾ) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Your slaves seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਚੂਕਾਗਉਣੁਮਿਟਿਆਅੰਧਿਆਰੁ॥
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ,
The cycle of reincarnation is ended, and darkness is dispelled.
ਗੁਰਿਦਿਖਲਾਇਆਮੁਕਤਿਦੁਆਰੁ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਰਸਤਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The Guru has revealed the door of liberation.
ਹਰਿਪ੍ਰੇਮਭਗਤਿਮਨੁਤਨੁਸਦਰਾਤਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰ-ਭਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
My mind and body are forever imbued with loving devotion to the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂਜਨਾਇਆਤਬਹੀਜਾਤਾ॥੨॥
ਪਰ, ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ॥੨॥
Now I know God, because He has made me know Him. ||2||
ਘਟਿਘਟਿਅੰਤਰਿਰਵਿਆਸੋਇ॥
(ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ,
He is contained in each and every heart.
ਤਿਸੁਬਿਨੁਬੀਜੋਨਾਹੀਕੋਇ॥
ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
Without Him, there is no one at all.
ਬੈਰਬਿਰੋਧਛੇਦੇਭੈਭਰਮਾਂ॥
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਭਰਮ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Hatred, conflict, fear and doubt have been eliminated.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿਪੁੰਨਿਆਤਮੈਕੀਨੇਧਰਮਾ॥੩॥
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਰਜਾ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੩॥
God, the Soul of Pure Goodness, has manifested His Righteousness. ||3||
ਮਹਾਤਰੰਗਤੇਕਾਂਢੈਲਾਗਾ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ) ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਬਚ ਕੇ) ਕੰਢੇ ਆ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
He has rescued me from the most dangerous waves.
ਜਨਮਜਨਮਕਾਟੂਟਾਗਾਂਢਾ॥
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Separated from Him for countless lifetimes, I am united with Him once again.
ਜਪੁਤਪੁਸੰਜਮੁਨਾਮੁਸਮੑਾਲਿਆ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਇਆ (ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Chanting, intense meditation and strict self-discipline are the contemplation of the Naam.
ਅਪੁਨੈਠਾਕੁਰਿਨਦਰਿਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ॥੪॥
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ ॥੪॥
My Lord and Master has blessed me with His Glance of Grace. ||4||
ਮੰਗਲਸੂਖਕਲਿਆਣਤਿਥਾਈਂ॥
ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Bliss, peace and salvation are found in that place,
