ਸਲੋਕਮਃ੩॥
Shalok, Third Mahalaa:
ਅਮਰੁਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁਹੈਤਿਸੁਨਾਲਿਸਿਆਣਪਨਚਲਈਨਹੁਜਤਿਕਰਣੀਜਾਇ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦੀ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅੱਗੇ) ਕੋਈ ਦਲੀਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ;
The Order of the Lord is beyond challenge. Clever tricks and arguments will not work against it.
ਆਪੁਛੋਡਿਸਰਣਾਇਪਵੈਮੰਨਿਲਏਰਜਾਇ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
So abandon your self-conceit, and take to His Sanctuary; accept the Order of His Will.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਜਮਡੰਡੁਨਲਗਈਹਉਮੈਵਿਚਹੁਜਾਇ॥
(ਤਾਹੀਏਂ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਕੋਈ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh eliminates self-conceit from within himself; he shall not be punished by the Messenger of Death.
ਨਾਨਕਸੇਵਕੁਸੋਈਆਖੀਐਜਿਸਚਿਰਹੈਲਿਵਲਾਇ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
O Nanak, he alone is called a selfless servant, who remains lovingly attuned to the True Lord. ||1||

Third Mahalaa:
ਦਾਤਿਜੋਤਿਸਭਸੂਰਤਿਤੇਰੀ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ,
All gifts, light and beauty are Yours.
ਬਹੁਤੁਸਿਆਣਪਹਉਮੈਮੇਰੀ॥
(ਤੇਰਾ ਸ਼ੁਕਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਬੜੀਆਂ ਚਲਾਕੀਆਂ (ਕਰਨੀਆਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਤੇ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
Excessive cleverness and egotism are mine.
ਬਹੁਕਰਮਕਮਾਵਹਿਲੋਭਿਮੋਹਿਵਿਆਪੇਹਉਮੈਕਦੇਨਚੂਕੈਫੇਰੀ॥
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਤੇਰੀ ਯਾਦ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ) ਲੋਭ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ;
The mortal performs all sorts of rituals in greed and attachment; engrossed in egotism, he shall never escape the cycle of reincarnation.
ਨਾਨਕਆਪਿਕਰਾਏਕਰਤਾਜੋਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਸਾਈਗਲਚੰਗੇਰੀ॥੨॥
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੈੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ), ਕਰਤਾਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪ ਕਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝਣਾ (-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ) ॥੨॥
O Nanak, the Creator Himself inspires all to act. Whatever pleases Him is good. ||2||
ਪਉੜੀਮਃ੫॥
Pauree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਸਚੁਖਾਣਾਸਚੁਪੈਨਣਾਸਚੁਨਾਮੁਅਧਾਰੁ॥
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ (ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Let Truth be your food, and Truth your clothes, and take the Support of the True Name.
ਗੁਰਿਪੂਰੈਮੇਲਾਇਆਪ੍ਰਭੁਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ॥
ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The True Guru shall lead you to meet God, the Great Giver.
ਭਾਗੁਪੂਰਾਤਿਨਜਾਗਿਆਜਪਿਆਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਪੂਰੀ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
When perfect destiny is activated, the mortal meditates on the Formless Lord.
ਸਾਧੂਸੰਗਤਿਲਗਿਆਤਰਿਆਸੰਸਾਰੁ॥
ਉਹ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਨਾਨਕਸਿਫਤਿਸਲਾਹਕਰਿਪ੍ਰਭਕਾਜੈਕਾਰੁ॥੩੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰ ॥੩੫॥
O Nanak, chant God's Praises, and celebrate His Victory. ||35||
ਸਲੋਕਮਃ੫॥
Shalok, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਸਭੇਜੀਅਸਮਾਲਿਅਪਣੀਮਿਹਰਕਰੁ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਲੈ;
In Your Mercy, You care for all beings and creatures.
ਅੰਨੁਪਾਣੀਮੁਚੁਉਪਾਇਦੁਖਦਾਲਦੁਭੰਨਿਤਰੁ॥
ਅੰਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਲਿੱਦਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ-
You produce corn and water in abundance; You eliminate pain and poverty, and carry all beings across.
ਅਰਦਾਸਿਸੁਣੀਦਾਤਾਰਿਹੋਈਸਿਸਟਿਠਰੁ॥
(ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਸੁਣੀ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
The Great Giver listened to my prayer, and the world has been cooled and comforted.
ਲੇਵਹੁਕੰਠਿਲਗਾਇਅਪਦਾਸਭਹਰੁ॥
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ।
Take me into Your Embrace, and take away all my pain.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇਪ੍ਰਭਕਾਸਫਲੁਘਰੁ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the House of God is fruitful and prosperous. ||1||
ਮਃ੫॥
Fifth Mahalaa:
ਵੁਠੇਮੇਘਸੁਹਾਵਣੇਹੁਕਮੁਕੀਤਾਕਰਤਾਰਿ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਸੋਹਣੇ ਬੱਦਲ ਆ ਕੇ ਵਰ੍ਹ ਪਏ,
Rain is falling from the clouds - it is so beautiful! The Creator Lord issued His Order.
ਰਿਜਕੁਉਪਾਇਓਨੁਅਗਲਾਠਾਂਢਿਪਈਸੰਸਾਰਿ॥
ਤੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਲਈ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਗਈ, (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ-ਬੱਦਲ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਨਾਲ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠੰਢ ਪਈ)
Grain has been produced in abundance; the world is cooled and comforted.
ਤਨੁਮਨੁਹਰਿਆਹੋਇਆਸਿਮਰਤਅਗਮਅਪਾਰ॥
ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪਿਆ।
The mind and body are rejuvenated, meditating in remembrance on the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord.
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਪ੍ਰਭਆਪਣੀਸਚੇਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ॥
ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇਹ),
O my True Creator Lord God, please shower Your Mercy on me.
ਕੀਤਾਲੋੜਹਿਸੋਕਰਹਿਨਾਨਕਸਦਬਲਿਹਾਰ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
He does whatever He pleases; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||
ਪਉੜੀ॥
Pauree:
ਵਡਾਆਪਿਅਗੰਮੁਹੈਵਡੀਵਡਿਆਈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਇਤਨਾ) ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ);
The Great Lord is Inaccessible; His glorious greatness is glorious!
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀਵੇਖਿਵਿਗਸਿਆਅੰਤਰਿਸਾਂਤਿਆਈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ) ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਵੱਸੀ ਹੈ।
Gazing upon Him through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I blossom forth in ecstasy; tranquility comes to my inner being.
ਸਭੁਆਪੇਆਪਿਵਰਤਦਾਆਪੇਹੈਭਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ;
All by Himself, He Himself is pervading everywhere, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਆਪਿਨਾਥੁਸਭਨਥੀਅਨੁਸਭਹੁਕਮਿਚਲਾਈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself is the Lord and Master of all. He has subdued all, and all are under the Hukam of His Command.
ਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਭਾਵੈਸੋਕਰੇਸਭਚਲੈਰਜਾਈ॥੩੬॥੧॥ਸੁਧੁ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੩੬॥੧॥ਸੁਧੁ ॥
O Nanak, the Lord does whatever He pleases. Everyone walks in harmony with His Will. ||36||1|| Sudh||
ਰਾਗੁਸਾਰੰਗਬਾਣੀਭਗਤਾਂਕੀ॥ਕਬੀਰਜੀ॥
ਰਾਗ ਸਾਰੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ। ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਹਾਨਰਗਰਬਸਿਥੋਰੀਬਾਤ॥
ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਪਿੱਛੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਚੰਦ-ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ) ਕਿਉਂ ਮਾਣ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ?
O mortal, why are you so proud of small things?
ਮਨਦਸਨਾਜੁਟਕਾਚਾਰਿਗਾਂਠੀਐਂਡੌਟੇਢੌਜਾਤੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦਸ ਮਣ ਦਾਣੇ ਜਾਂ ਚਾਰ ਟਕੇ ਜੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ (ਤਾਂ ਕੀਹ ਹੋਇਆ? ਕਿਉਂ) ਇਤਨਾ ਆਕੜ ਕੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
With a few pounds of grain and a few coins in your pocket, you are totally puffed up with pride. ||1||Pause||
ਬਹੁਤੁਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁਗਾਂਉਸਉਪਾਏਦੁਇਲਖਟਕਾਬਰਾਤ॥
ਜੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਵਧੀਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਸੌ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਕੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਜਾਂ (ਲੱਖ) ਦੋ ਲੱਖ ਟਕੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਗੀਰ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ,
With great pomp and ceremony, you control a hundred villages, with an income of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
ਦਿਵਸਚਾਰਿਕੀਕਰਹੁਸਾਹਿਬੀਜੈਸੇਬਨਹਰਪਾਤ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਸਰਦਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਲਵੋਗੇ (ਤੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਉਗੇ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਹਰੇ ਪੱਤੇ (ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਹਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਸੁੱਕ-ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥
The power you exert will last for only a few days, like the green leaves of the forest. ||1||
ਨਾਕੋਊਲੈਆਇਓਇਹੁਧਨੁਨਾਕੋਊਲੈਜਾਤੁ॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਮਾਲ-ਧਨ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ (ਜੰਮਣ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ (ਮਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਹ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
No one has brought this wealth with him, and no one will take it with him when he goes.
ਰਾਵਨਹੂੰਤੇਅਧਿਕਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿਖਿਨਮਹਿਗਏਬਿਲਾਤ॥੨॥
ਰਾਵਣ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਵਸੇ ॥੨॥
Emperors, even greater than Raawan, passed away in an instant. ||2||
