ਕਾਲਿਦੈਤਿਸੰਘਾਰੇਜਮਪੁਰਿਗਏ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਲ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਪੈ ਗਏ ॥੨॥
They are destroyed by Death's demons, and they must go to the City of Death. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਲਿਵਲਾਗੇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ,
The Gurmukhs are lovingly attached to the Lord, Har, Har, Har.
ਜਨਮਮਰਣਦੋਊਦੁਖਭਾਗੇ॥੩॥
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
Their pains of both birth and death are taken away. ||3||
ਭਗਤਜਨਾਕਉਹਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਧਾਰੀ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
The Lord showers His Mercy on His humble devotees.
ਗੁਰੁਨਾਨਕੁਤੁਠਾਮਿਲਿਆਬਨਵਾਰੀ॥੪॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
Guru Nanak has shown mercy to me; I have met the Lord, the Lord of the forest. ||4||2||
ਬਸੰਤੁਹਿੰਡੋਲਮਹਲਾ੪ਘਰੁ੨॥

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਰਾਮਨਾਮੁਰਤਨਕੋਠੜੀਗੜਮੰਦਰਿਏਕਲੁਕਾਨੀ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਰੀਰ-ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਰੀਰ-ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਪਤ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord's Name is a jewel, hidden in a chamber of the palace of the body-fortress.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਮਿਲੈਤਖੋਜੀਐਮਿਲਿਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਸਮਾਨੀ॥੧॥
ਜਦੋਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਉਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ) ਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
When one meets the True Guru, then he searches and finds it, and his light merges with the Divine Light. ||1||
ਮਾਧੋਸਾਧੂਜਨਦੇਹੁਮਿਲਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ।
O Lord, lead me to meet with the Holy Person, the Guru.
ਦੇਖਤਦਰਸੁਪਾਪਸਭਿਨਾਸਹਿਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਪਰਮਪਦੁਪਾਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, all my sins are erased, and I obtain the supreme, sublime, sanctified status. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਚਚੋਰਮਿਲਿਲਾਗੇਨਗਰੀਆਰਾਮਨਾਮਧਨੁਹਿਰਿਆ॥
(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-) ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਚੋਰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਚੁਰਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The five thieves join together and plunder the body-village, stealing the wealth of the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿਖੋਜਪਰੇਤਬਪਕਰੇਧਨੁਸਾਬਤੁਰਾਸਿਉਬਰਿਆ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖੁਰਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਹ ਚੋਰ) ਫੜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
But through the Guru's Teachings, they are traced and caught, and this wealth is recovered intact. ||2||
ਪਾਖੰਡਭਰਮਉਪਾਵਕਰਿਥਾਕੇਰਿਦਅੰਤਰਿਮਾਇਆਮਾਇਆ॥
ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਭਰਮਾਂ-ਵਹਿਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਹੀ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ)।
Practicing hypocrisy and superstition, people have grown weary of the effort, but still, deep within their hearts, they yearn for Maya, Maya.
ਸਾਧੂਪੁਰਖੁਪੁਰਖਪਤਿਪਾਇਆਅਗਿਆਨਅੰਧੇਰੁਗਵਾਇਆ॥੩॥
ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
By the Grace of the Holy Person, I have met with the Lord, the Primal Being, and the darkness of ignorance is dispelled. ||3||
ਜਗੰਨਾਥਜਗਦੀਸਗੁਸਾਈਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਸਾਧੁਮਿਲਾਵੈ॥
ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਨਾਥ, ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ, ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord, the Lord of the Earth, the Lord of the Universe, in His Mercy, leads me to meet the Holy Person, the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕਸਾਂਤਿਹੋਵੈਮਨਅੰਤਰਿਨਿਤਹਿਰਦੈਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਵੈ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
O Nanak, peace then comes to abide deep within my mind, and I constantly sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord within my heart. ||4||1||3||
ਬਸੰਤੁਮਹਲਾ੪ਹਿੰਡੋਲ॥
Basant, Fourth Mahalaa, Hindol:
ਤੁਮੑਵਡਪੁਰਖਵਡਅਗਮਗੁਸਾਈਹਮਕੀਰੇਕਿਰਮਤੁਮਨਛੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਿਹੇ ਜੀਵ ਹਾਂ।
You are the Great Supreme Being, the Vast and Inaccessible Lord of the World; I am a mere insect, a worm created by You.
ਹਰਿਦੀਨਦਇਆਲਕਰਹੁਪ੍ਰਭਕਿਰਪਾਗੁਰਸਤਿਗੁਰਚਰਣਹਮਬਨਛੇ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਦੀ ਧੂੜ) ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
O Lord, Merciful to the meek, please grant Your Grace; O God, I long for the feet of the Guru, the True Guru. ||1||
ਗੋਬਿੰਦਜੀਉਸਤਿਸੰਗਤਿਮੇਲਿਕਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਛੇ॥
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ-) ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ।
O Dear Lord of the Universe, please be merciful and unite me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਜਨਮਜਨਮਕੇਕਿਲਵਿਖਮਲੁਭਰਿਆਮਿਲਿਸੰਗਤਿਕਰਿਪ੍ਰਭਹਨਛੇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਿੱਬੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ-) ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
I was overflowing with the filthy sins of countless past lives. But joining the Sangat, God made me pure again. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਮੑਰਾਜਨੁਜਾਤਿਅਵਿਜਾਤਾਹਰਿਜਪਿਓਪਤਿਤਪਵੀਛੇ॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ,
Your humble servant, whether of high class or low class, O Lord - by meditating on You, the sinner becomes pure.
ਹਰਿਕੀਓਸਗਲਭਵਨਤੇਊਪਰਿਹਰਿਸੋਭਾਹਰਿਪ੍ਰਭਦਿਨਛੇ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੨॥
The Lord exalts and elevates him above the whole world, and the Lord God blesses him with the Lord's Glory. ||2||
ਜਾਤਿਅਜਾਤਿਕੋਈਪ੍ਰਭਧਿਆਵੈਸਭਿਪੂਰੇਮਾਨਸਤਿਨਛੇ॥
ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Anyone who meditates on God, whether of high class or low class, will have all of his hopes and desires fulfilled.
ਸੇਧੰਨਿਵਡੇਵਡਪੂਰੇਹਰਿਜਨਜਿਨੑਹਰਿਧਾਰਿਓਹਰਿਉਰਛੇ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
Those humble servants of the Lord who enshrine the Lord within their hearts, are blessed, and are made great and totally perfect. ||3||
ਹਮਢੀਂਢੇਢੀਮਬਹੁਤੁਅਤਿਭਾਰੀਹਰਿਧਾਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਪ੍ਰਭਮਿਲਛੇ॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਨੀਚ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਦੱਬੇ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ।
I am so low, I am an utterly heavy lump of clay. Please shower Your Mercy on me, Lord, and unite me with Yourself.
ਜਨਨਾਨਕਗੁਰੁਪਾਇਆਹਰਿਤੂਠੇਹਮਕੀਏਪਤਿਤਪਵੀਛੇ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥
The Lord, in His Mercy, has led servant Nanak to find the Guru; I was a sinner, and now I have become immaculate and pure. ||||4||2||4||
ਬਸੰਤੁਹਿੰਡੋਲਮਹਲਾ੪॥

ਮੇਰਾਇਕੁਖਿਨੁਮਨੂਆਰਹਿਨਸਕੈਨਿਤਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮਰਸਿਗੀਧੇ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ;
My mind cannot survive, even for an instant, without the Lord. I drink in continually the sublime essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਜਿਉਬਾਰਿਕੁਰਸਕਿਪਰਿਓਥਨਿਮਾਤਾਥਨਿਕਾਢੇਬਿਲਲਬਿਲੀਧੇ॥੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਬਾਲ ਬੜੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਣ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਬੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਥਣ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਲਕਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
It is like a baby, who joyfully sucks at his mother's breast; when the breast is withdrawn, he weeps and cries. ||1||
ਗੋਬਿੰਦਜੀਉਮੇਰੇਮਨਤਨਨਾਮਹਰਿਬੀਧੇ॥
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜੀ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
O Dear Lord of the Universe, my mind and body are pierced through by the Name of the Lord.
ਵਡੈਭਾਗਿਗੁਰੁਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਪਾਇਆਵਿਚਿਕਾਇਆਨਗਰਹਰਿਸੀਧੇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, the True Guru, and in the body-village, the Lord has revealed Himself. ||1||Pause||
