ਦਰਿਸਾਚੈਸਚੁਸੋਭਾਹੋਇ॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
In the Court of the True Lord, he obtains true glory.
ਨਿਜਘਰਿਵਾਸਾਪਾਵੈਸੋਇ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
He comes to dwell in the home of his own inner being. ||3||
ਆਪਿਅਭੁਲੁਸਚਾਸਚੁਸੋਇ॥
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
He cannot be fooled; He is the Truest of the True.
ਹੋਰਿਸਭਿਭੂਲਹਿਦੂਜੈਪਤਿਖੋਇ॥
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਗ਼ਲਤ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
All others are deluded; in duality, they lose their honor.
ਸਾਚਾਸੇਵਹੁਸਾਚੀਬਾਣੀ॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
So serve the True Lord, through the True Bani of His Word.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੇਸਾਚਿਸਮਾਣੀ॥੪॥੯॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, merge in the True Lord. ||4||9||
ਬਸੰਤੁਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Basant, Third Mahalaa:
ਬਿਨੁਕਰਮਾਸਭਭਰਮਿਭੁਲਾਈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੀ (ਲੋਕਾਈ) ਨੂੰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
Without the grace of good karma, all are deluded by doubt.
ਮਾਇਆਮੋਹਿਬਹੁਤੁਦੁਖੁਪਾਈ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕਾਈ) ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
In attachment to Maya, they suffer in terrible pain.
ਮਨਮੁਖਅੰਧੇਠਉਰਨਪਾਈ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The blind, self-willed manmukhs find no place of rest.
ਬਿਸਟਾਕਾਕੀੜਾਬਿਸਟਾਮਾਹਿਸਮਾਈ॥੧॥
(ਮੋਹ-ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਗੰਦ ਦਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
They are like maggots in manure, rotting away in manure. ||1||
ਹੁਕਮੁਮੰਨੇਸੋਜਨੁਪਰਵਾਣੁ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ (ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
That humble being who obeys the Hukam of the Lord's Command is accepted.
ਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਨਾਮਿਨੀਸਾਣੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he is blessed with the insignia and the banner of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਚਿਰਤੇਜਿਨੑਾਧੁਰਿਲਿਖਿਪਾਇਆ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny are imbued with the Naam.
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਸਦਾਮਨਿਭਾਇਆ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Name of the Lord is forever pleasing to their minds.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਕੀਬਾਣੀਸਦਾਸੁਖੁਹੋਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Through the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, eternal peace is found.
ਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲਾਏਸੋਇ॥੨॥
ਬਾਣੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Through it, one's light merges into the Light. ||2||
ਏਕੁਨਾਮੁਤਾਰੇਸੰਸਾਰੁ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save the world.
ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦੀਨਾਮਪਿਆਰੁ॥
ਪਰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, one comes to love the Naam.
ਬਿਨੁਨਾਮੈਮੁਕਤਿਕਿਨੈਨਪਾਈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ।
Without the Naam, no one obtains liberation.
ਪੂਰੇਗੁਰਤੇਨਾਮੁਪਲੈਪਾਈ॥੩॥
ਨਾਮ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Through the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained. ||3||
ਸੋਬੂਝੈਜਿਸੁਆਪਿਬੁਝਾਏ॥
(ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਸਮਝਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
He alone understands, whom the Lord Himself causes to understand.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਸੇਵਾਨਾਮੁਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਏ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Serving the True Guru, the Naam is implanted within.
ਜਿਨਇਕੁਜਾਤਾਸੇਜਨਪਰਵਾਣੁ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
Those humble beings who know the One Lord are approved and accepted.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਿਰਤੇਦਰਿਨੀਸਾਣੁ॥੪॥੧੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਗਏ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, they go to the Lord's Court with His banner and insignia. ||4||10||
ਬਸੰਤੁਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Basant, Third Mahalaa:
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਕਰੇਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਮਿਲਾਏ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Granting His Grace, the Lord leads the mortal to meet the True Guru.
ਆਪੇਆਪਿਵਸੈਮਨਿਆਏ॥
(ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord Himself comes to abide in his mind.
ਨਿਹਚਲਮਤਿਸਦਾਮਨਧੀਰ॥
(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਮੱਤ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਡੋਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਧੀਰਜ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
His intellect becomes steady and stable, and his mind is strengthened forever.
ਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਵੈਗੁਣੀਗਹੀਰ॥੧॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Ocean of Virtue. ||1||
ਨਾਮਹੁਭੂਲੇਮਰਹਿਬਿਖੁਖਾਇ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord - those mortals die eating poison.
ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਜਨਮੁਫਿਰਿਆਵਹਿਜਾਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Their lives are wasted uselessly, and they continue coming and going in reincarnation. ||1||Pause||
ਬਹੁਭੇਖਕਰਹਿਮਨਿਸਾਂਤਿਨਹੋਇ॥
(ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੇ) ਕਈ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ।
They wear all sorts of religious robes, but their minds are not at peace.
ਬਹੁਅਭਿਮਾਨਿਅਪਣੀਪਤਿਖੋਇ॥
(ਸਗੋਂ ਭੇਖ ਦੇ) ਬਹੁਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਭੇਖ-ਧਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
In great egotism, they lose their honor.
ਸੇਵਡਭਾਗੀਜਿਨਸਬਦੁਪਛਾਣਿਆ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ,
But those who realize the Word of the Shabad, are blessed by great good fortune.
ਬਾਹਰਿਜਾਦਾਘਰਮਹਿਆਣਿਆ॥੨॥
(ਤੇ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ) ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਲ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
They bring their distractible minds back home. ||2||
ਘਰਮਹਿਵਸਤੁਅਗਮਅਪਾਰਾ॥
ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
Within the home of the inner self is the inaccessible and infinite substance.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿਖੋਜਹਿਸਬਦਿਬੀਚਾਰਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ) ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who find it, by following the Guru's Teachings, contemplate the Shabad.
ਨਾਮੁਨਵਨਿਧਿਪਾਈਘਰਹੀਮਾਹਿ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ) ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ।
Those who obtain the nine treasures of the Naam within the home of their own inner being,
ਸਦਾਰੰਗਿਰਾਤੇਸਚਿਸਮਾਹਿ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
are forever dyed in the color of the Lord's Love; they are absorbed in the Truth. ||3||
ਆਪਿਕਰੇਕਿਛੁਕਰਣੁਨਜਾਇ॥
ਪਰ, (ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿਣਾ-ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ) ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
God Himself does everything; no one can do anything at all by himself.
ਆਪੇਭਾਵੈਲਏਮਿਲਾਇ॥
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When God so wills, He merges the mortal into Himself.
ਤਿਸਤੇਨੇੜੈਨਾਹੀਕੋਦੂਰਿ॥
(ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ) ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੈ।
All are near Him; no one is far away from Him.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਿਰਹਿਆਭਰਪੂਰਿ॥੪॥੧੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
O Nanak, the Naam is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||4||11||
ਬਸੰਤੁਮਹਲਾ੩॥

ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀਹਰਿਚੇਤਿਸੁਭਾਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ,
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, remember the Lord with love,
ਰਾਮਨਾਮਰਸਿਰਹੈਅਘਾਇ॥
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
and you shall remain satisfied by the sublime essence of the Lord's Name.
ਕੋਟਕੋਟੰਤਰਕੇਪਾਪਜਲਿਜਾਹਿ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
The sins of millions upon millions of lifetimes shall be burnt away.
ਜੀਵਤਮਰਹਿਹਰਿਨਾਮਿਸਮਾਹਿ॥੧॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Remaining dead while yet alive, you shall be absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਹਰਿਕੀਦਾਤਿਹਰਿਜੀਉਜਾਣੈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣੀ ਹੈ।
The Dear Lord Himself knows His own bountiful blessings.
ਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਇਹੁਮਨੁਮਉਲਿਆਹਰਿਗੁਣਦਾਤਾਨਾਮੁਵਖਾਣੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
This mind blossoms forth in the Guru's Shabad, chanting the Name of the Lord, the Giver of virtue. ||1||Pause||
ਭਗਵੈਵੇਸਿਭ੍ਰਮਿਮੁਕਤਿਨਹੋਇ॥
ਭਗਵੇ ਰੰਗ ਦੇ ਭੇਖ ਨਾਲ (ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ) ਭੌਂ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
No one is liberated by wandering around in saffron-colored robes.
ਬਹੁਸੰਜਮਿਸਾਂਤਿਨਪਾਵੈਕੋਇ॥
ਕਠਨ ਤਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
Tranquility is not found by strict self-discipline.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿਨਾਮੁਪਰਾਪਤਿਹੋਇ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
But by following the Guru's Teachings, one is blessed to receive the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹਰਿਪਾਵੈਸੋਇ॥੨॥
ਉਹ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
By great good fortune, one finds the Lord. ||2||
ਕਲਿਮਹਿਰਾਮਨਾਮਿਵਡਿਆਈ॥
ਇਸ ਬਖੇੜਿਆਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, glorious greatness comes through the Lord's Name.
