ਹੈਹਜੂਰਿਕਤਦੂਰਿਬਤਾਵਹੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਮੁੱਲਾਂ!) ਰੱਬ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ-ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ (ਕਿਤੇ ਸਤਵੇਂ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਤੇ) ਕਿਉਂ (ਬੈਠਾ) ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹੋ?
God is present, right here at hand; why do you say that He is far away?
ਦੁੰਦਰਬਾਧਹੁਸੁੰਦਰਪਾਵਹੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਰੌਲਾ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Tie up your disturbing passions, and find the Beauteous Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਜੀਸੋਜੁਕਾਇਆਬੀਚਾਰੈ॥
ਅਸਲ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜੇ,
He alone is a Qazi, who contemplates the human body,
ਕਾਇਆਕੀਅਗਨਿਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਪਰਜਾਰੈ॥
ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਨੂੰ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਕਰੇ,
and through the fire of the body, is illumined by God.
ਸੁਪਨੈਬਿੰਦੁਨਦੇਈਝਰਨਾ॥
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਕਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਆਉਣ ਦੇਵੇ।
He does not lose his semen, even in his dreams;
ਤਿਸੁਕਾਜੀਕਉਜਰਾਨਮਰਨਾ॥੨॥
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
for such a Qazi, there is no old age or death. ||2||
ਸੋਸੁਰਤਾਨੁਜੁਦੁਇਸਰਤਾਨੈ॥
ਅਸਲ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ (ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ) ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਦੇ) ਦੋ ਤੀਰ ਤਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
He alone is a sultan and a king, who shoots the two arrows,
ਬਾਹਰਿਜਾਤਾਭੀਤਰਿਆਨੈ॥
ਬਾਹਰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਲ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
gathers in his outgoing mind,
ਗਗਨਮੰਡਲਮਹਿਲਸਕਰੁਕਰੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
and assembles his army in the realm of the mind's sky, the Tenth Gate.
ਸੋਸੁਰਤਾਨੁਛਤ੍ਰੁਸਿਰਿਧਰੈ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ (ਅਸਲ) ਛਤਰ ਝੁਲਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
The canopy of royalty waves over such a sultan. ||3||
ਜੋਗੀਗੋਰਖੁਗੋਰਖੁਕਰੈ॥
ਜੋਗੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ) ਗੋਰਖ ਗੋਰਖ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Yogi cries out, "Gorakh, Gorakh".
ਹਿੰਦੂਰਾਮਨਾਮੁਉਚਰੈ॥
ਹਿੰਦੂ (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ) ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Hindu utters the Name of Raam.
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਕਾਏਕੁਖੁਦਾਇ॥
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਨੇ (ਸਤਵੇਂ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਨਿਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ (ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ) ਰੱਬ ਮੰਨ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
The Muslim has only One God.
ਕਬੀਰਕਾਸੁਆਮੀਰਹਿਆਸਮਾਇ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥
ਪਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਬੀਰ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥
The Lord and Master of Kabeer is all-pervading. ||4||3||11||

Fifth Mahalaa:
ਜੋਪਾਥਰਕਉਕਹਤੇਦੇਵ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੱਥਰ (ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ) ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who call a stone their god
ਤਾਕੀਬਿਰਥਾਹੋਵੈਸੇਵ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
their service is useless.
ਜੋਪਾਥਰਕੀਪਾਂਈਪਾਇ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੱਥਰ (ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ) ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those who fall at the feet of a stone god
ਤਿਸਕੀਘਾਲਅਜਾਂਈਜਾਇ॥੧॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
- their work is wasted in vain. ||1||
ਠਾਕੁਰੁਹਮਰਾਸਦਬੋਲੰਤਾ॥
ਸਾਡਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
My Lord and Master speaks forever.
ਸਰਬਜੀਆਕਉਪ੍ਰਭੁਦਾਨੁਦੇਤਾ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
God gives His gifts to all living beings. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿਦੇਉਨਜਾਨੈਅੰਧੁ॥
ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ-ਵੱਸਦੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ,
The Divine Lord is within the self, but the spiritually blind one does not know this.
ਭ੍ਰਮਕਾਮੋਹਿਆਪਾਵੈਫੰਧੁ॥
ਭਰਮ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Deluded by doubt, he is caught in the noose.
ਨਪਾਥਰੁਬੋਲੈਨਾਕਿਛੁਦੇਇ॥
ਇਹ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾਹ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਕੁਝ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
The stone does not speak; it does not give anything to anyone.
ਫੋਕਟਕਰਮਨਿਹਫਲਹੈਸੇਵ॥੨॥
(ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਾਣ ਤੇ ਭੋਗ ਆਦਿਕ ਲਵਾਣ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਫਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੨॥
Such religious rituals are useless; such service is fruitless. ||2||
ਜੇਮਿਰਤਕਕਉਚੰਦਨੁਚੜਾਵੈ॥
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਦਨ (ਰਗੜ ਕੇ) ਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ,
If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil,
ਉਸਤੇਕਹਹੁਕਵਨਫਲਪਾਵੈ॥
ਉਸ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ (ਇਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਦਾ) ਫਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ।
what good does it do?
ਜੇਮਿਰਤਕਕਉਬਿਸਟਾਮਾਹਿਰੁਲਾਈ॥
ਤੇ, ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੋਲ ਦੇਵੇ,
If a corpse is rolled in manure,
ਤਾਂਮਿਰਤਕਕਾਕਿਆਘਟਿਜਾਈ॥੩॥
ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
what does it lose from this? ||3||
ਕਹਤਕਬੀਰਹਉਕਹਉਪੁਕਾਰਿ॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ
Says Kabeer, I proclaim this out loud
ਸਮਝਿਦੇਖੁਸਾਕਤਗਾਵਾਰ॥
ਹੇ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੂਰਖ! ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ,
behold, and understand, you ignorant, faithless cynic.
ਦੂਜੈਭਾਇਬਹੁਤੁਘਰਗਾਲੇ॥
ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
The love of duality has ruined countless homes.
ਰਾਮਭਗਤਹੈਸਦਾਸੁਖਾਲੇ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਨ' ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥
The Lord's devotees are forever in bliss. ||4||4||12||
ਜਲਮਹਿਮੀਨਮਾਇਆਕੇਬੇਧੇ॥
ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮੱਛੀਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝੀਆਂ ਪਈਆਂ ਹਨ,
The fish in the water is attached to Maya.
ਦੀਪਕਪਤੰਗਮਾਇਆਕੇਛੇਦੇ॥
ਦੀਵਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ (ਸੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਭੰਬਟ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
The moth fluttering around the lamp is pierced through by Maya.
ਕਾਮਮਾਇਆਕੁੰਚਰਕਉਬਿਆਪੈ॥
ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਥੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
The sexual desire of Maya afflicts the elephant.
ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮਭ੍ਰਿੰਗਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਖਾਪੇ॥੧॥
ਸੱਪ ਤੇ ਭੌਰੇ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
The snakes and bumble bees are destroyed through Maya. ||1||
ਮਾਇਆਐਸੀਮੋਹਨੀਭਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਇਤਨੀ ਬਲ ਵਾਲੀ, ਮੋਹਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ,
Such are the enticements of Maya, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਜੇਤੇਜੀਅਤੇਤੇਡਹਕਾਈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਕਿ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਹਨ, ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਡੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
As many living beings as there are, have been deceived. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਖੀਮ੍ਰਿਗਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਰਾਤੇ॥
ਪੰਛੀ, ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
The birds and the deer are imbued with Maya.
ਸਾਕਰਮਾਖੀਅਧਿਕਸੰਤਾਪੇ॥
ਸ਼ੱਕਰ-ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੱਖੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Sugar is a deadly trap for the flies.
ਤੁਰੇਉਸਟਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਭੇਲਾ॥
ਘੋੜੇ ਊਠ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
Horses and camels are absorbed in Maya.
ਸਿਧਚਉਰਾਸੀਹਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਖੇਲਾ॥੨॥
ਚੌਰਾਸੀਹ ਸਿੱਧ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਡ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
The eighty-four Siddhas, the beings of miraculous spiritual powers, play in Maya. ||2||
ਛਿਅਜਤੀਮਾਇਆਕੇਬੰਦਾ॥
ਜਤੀ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹਨ।
The six celibates are slaves of Maya.
ਨਵੈਨਾਥਸੂਰਜਅਰੁਚੰਦਾ॥
ਨੌ ਨਾਥ ਸੂਰਜ (ਦੇਵਤਾ) ਅਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਦੇਵਤਾ)
So are the nine masters of Yoga, and the sun and the moon.
ਤਪੇਰਖੀਸਰਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਸੂਤਾ॥
ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤਪੀ ਤੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
The austere disciplinarians and the Rishis are asleep in Maya.
ਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਕਾਲੁਅਰੁਪੰਚਦੂਤਾ॥੩॥
ਮੌਤ (ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ) ਤੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਪਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੩॥
Death and the five demons are in Maya. ||3||
ਸੁਆਨਸਿਆਲਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਰਾਤਾ॥
ਕੁੱਤੇ, ਗਿੱਦੜ, ਬਾਂਦਰ, ਚਿੱਤ੍ਰੇ, ਸ਼ੇਰ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
Dogs and jackals are imbued with Maya.
ਬੰਤਰਚੀਤੇਅਰੁਸਿੰਘਾਤਾ॥
ਬਾਂਦਰ, ਚਿੱਤ੍ਰੇ, ਸ਼ੇਰ (ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਉਲਝੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।)
Monkeys, leopards and lions,
ਮਾਂਜਾਰਗਾਡਰਅਰੁਲੂਬਰਾ॥
ਬਿੱਲੇ, ਭੇਡਾਂ, ਲੂੰਬੜ,
cats, sheep, foxes,
ਬਿਰਖਮੂਲਮਾਇਆਮਹਿਪਰਾ॥੪॥
ਰੁੱਖ, ਕੰਦ-ਮੂਲ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
trees and roots are planted in Maya. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆਅੰਤਰਿਭੀਨੇਦੇਵ॥
ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Even the gods are drenched with Maya,
ਸਾਗਰਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਅਰੁਧਰਤੇਵ॥
ਸਮੁੰਦਰ, ਸ੍ਵਰਗ, ਧਰਤੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
as are the oceans, the sky and the earth.
ਕਹਿਕਬੀਰਜਿਸੁਉਦਰੁਤਿਸੁਮਾਇਆ॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਢਿੱਡ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਆਪ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Says Kabeer, whoever has a belly to fill, is under the spell of Maya.
ਤਬਛੂਟੇਜਬਸਾਧੂਪਾਇਆ॥੫॥੫॥੧੩॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੫॥੧੩॥
The mortal is emancipated only when he meets the Holy Saint. ||5||5||13||
ਜਬਲਗੁਮੇਰੀਮੇਰੀਕਰੈ॥
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
As long as he cries out, Mine! Mine!,
ਤਬਲਗੁਕਾਜੁਏਕੁਨਹੀਸਰੈ॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਇਸ ਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਇੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਰਦਾ।
none of his tasks are accomplished.
ਜਬਮੇਰੀਮੇਰੀਮਿਟਿਜਾਇ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
When such possessiveness is erased and removed,
