ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼ ਅਰਥ ਵੇਖੋ
ਖਟੁਰਸਮਿਠਰਸਮੇਲਿਕੈਛਤੀਹਭੋਜਨਹੋਨਿਰਸੋਈ।
ਖੱਟੇ ਰਸ, ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਰਸ ਮਿਲਾਕੇ ਛਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਸੋਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

खटु रस मिठ रस मेलि कै छतीह भोजन होनि रसोई ।
ਜੇਵਣਿਵਾਰਜਿਵਾਲੀਐਚਾਰਿਵਰਨਛਿਅਦਰਸਨਲੋਈ।

ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਭੁਗਤਿਕਰਿਹੋਇਜਿਸੁਜਿਹਬਾਸਾਉਸਿਞਾਣੈਸੋਈ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਗਤ ਦੇ ਖਾਣ ਥੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਸਿਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਭਈ ਇਹ ਕਿੱਡੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਚੀਜ਼ ਬਣੀ ਹੈ)।
He alone who having eaten has satisfied himself, can understand the taste of it,
त्रिपति भुगति करि होइ जिसु जिहबा साउ सिञाणै सोई ।
ਕੜਛੀਸਾਉਨਸੰਭਲੈਛਤੀਹਬਿੰਜਨਵਿਚਿਸੰਜੋਈ।
ਕੜਛੀ ਕੁਛ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲਦੀ (ਭਾਵੇਂ) ਛੱਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਬਿੰਜਨਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਫਿਰ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ, (ਯਥਾ:-”ਕੜਛੀਆਂ ਫਿਰੰਨਿ ਸੁਆਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਨ ਸੁੀਆ”)।

ਰਤੀਰਤਕਨਾਰਲੈਰਤਨਾਅੰਦਰਿਹਾਰਿਪਰੋਈ।
('ਰਤੀ'=) ਲਾਲ ਅਤੇ ('ਰਤਕਾਂ'=) ਲਾਲੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਬਦਾ, (ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਰੋ ਦੇਈਏ।

साधसंगति गुरु सबदु सुणि गुर उपदेसु आवेसु न होई ।
ਕਪਟਸਨੇਹਿਨਦਰਗਹਢੋਈ੮।।
(ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਣ) (ਕਪਟ ਸਨੇਹੀਆਂ=) ਝੂਠੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਬੀ ਢੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ।
