ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥

ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਕੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼ ਅਰਥ ਵੇਖੋ

ਪੀਰਮੁਰੀਦੀਗਾਖੜੀਕੋਵਿਰਲਾਜਾਣੈ।
ਪੀਰ ਦੀ ਮੁਰੀਦੀ ਔਖੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Discipleship of the Guru is such a difficult task that only a rare one can understand it.
पीर मुरीदी गाखड़ी को विरला जाणै ।
ਪੀਰਾਪੀਰੁਵਖਾਣੀਐਗੁਰੁਗੁਰਾਂਵਖਾਣੈ।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ) ਪੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ (ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ) ਪੀਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਦਾ (ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
He, who knows it, becomes guide of spiritual guides and chief Guru of Gurus.
पीरा पीरु वखाणीऐ गुरु गुरां वखाणै ।
ਗੁਰੁਚੇਲਾਚੇਲਾਗੁਰੂਕਰਿਚੋਜਵਿਡਾਣੈ।
ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਹੀ (ਅੰਗਦ) ਚੇਲਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਚੇਲਿਓਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ) ਗੁਰੂ ਬਨਣ ਦਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਕੌਤਕ ਕੀਤਾ।
In this stage the wonderful feat of becoming Guru by the disciple and vice-versa is enacted.
गुरु चेला चेला गुरू करि चोज विडाणै ।
ਸੋਗੁਰੁਸੋਈਸਿਖੁਹੈਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਸਮਾਣੈ।
ਉਹੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹੋ ਸਿਖ ਹੈ, ਜੋਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾ ਗਈ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ ਇਕ ਆਸ਼ਯ ਹੈ)।
Externally the Sikh and Guru remain as they were, but internally, the light of the one permeates the other.
सो गुरु सोई सिखु है जोती जोति समाणै ।
ਇਕੁਗੁਰੁਇਕੁਸਿਖੁਹੈਗੁਰੁਸਬਦਿਸਿਞਾਣੈ।
ਇਕ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ) ਇਕ ਸਿਖ (ਅੰਗਦ) ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੋਂ ਤਨੋਂ ਹੋਕੇ) ਮੰਨ ਲੀਤਾ।
Becoming the Sikh of the One Guru, the disciple understands the word of the Guru.
इकु गुरु इकु सिखु है गुरु सबदि सिञाणै ।
ਮਿਹਰਮੁਹਬਤਿਮੇਲੁਕਰਿਭਉਭਾਉਸੁਭਾਣੈ੧।।
ਮਿਹਰ (ਗੁਰ ਨੇ) ਮੁਹੱਬਤ (ਚੇਲੇ ਨੇ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੇਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ਭਉ (ਅਤੇ) ਭਾਉ ਦੁਹਾਂ (ਨੇ 'ਸੁ ਭਾਣੇ') ਕੀਤਾ। (ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਕਿ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਉ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੇ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਤੇ ਭਾਉ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ)।
Grace of the Guru and love of the disciple meeting together in the divine order join each other in the form of the love of the Guru and fear in the mind of the disciple to create a balanced and handsome personality.
