ਸਚਾਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁਇਕੋਤੂਧਣੀ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ (ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ) ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ;
O True and Independent Lord God, You alone are my Lord and Master.
सचा वेपरवाहु इको तू धणी ॥
ਤੂਸਭੁਕਿਛੁਆਪੇਆਪਿਦੂਜੇਕਿਸੁਗਣੀ॥
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ (ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਨ ਜੋਗਾ) ਹੈਂ, ਕੇਹੜੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਮਿਥਾਂ?
You Yourself are everything; who else is of any account?
तू सभु किछु आपे आपि दूजे किसु गणी ॥
ਮਾਣਸਕੂੜਾਗਰਬੁਸਚੀਤੁਧੁਮਣੀ॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਕੋਈ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ;
False is the pride of man. True is Your glorious greatness.
माणस कूड़ा गरबु सची तुधु मणी ॥
ਆਵਾਗਉਣੁਰਚਾਇਉਪਾਈਮੇਦਨੀ॥
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ 'ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ' (ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ) ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
Coming and going in reincarnation, the beings and species of the world came into being.
आवा गउणु रचाइ उपाई मेदनी ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵੇਆਪਣਾਆਇਆਤਿਸੁਗਣੀ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਣਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ।
But if the mortal serves his True Guru, his coming into the world is judged to be worthwhile.
सतिगुरु सेवे आपणा आइआ तिसु गणी ॥
ਜੇਹਉਮੈਵਿਚਹੁਜਾਇਤਕੇਹੀਗਣਤਗਣੀ॥
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਤੌਖ਼ਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
And if he eradicates egotism from within himself, then how can he be judged?
जे हउमै विचहु जाइ त केही गणत गणी ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖਮੋਹਿਗੁਬਾਰਿਜਿਉਭੁਲਾਮੰਝਿਵਣੀ॥
(ਪਰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ (ਇਉਂ) ਭਟਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਰਾਹੋਂ) ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ)।
The self-willed manmukh is lost in the darkness of emotional attachment, like the man lost in the wilderness.
मनमुख मोहि गुबारि जिउ भुला मंझि वणी ॥
ਕਟੇਪਾਪਅਸੰਖਨਾਵੈਇਕਕਣੀ॥੧੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ 'ਨਾਮ' ਦਾ ਇਕ ਕਿਣਕਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
Countless sins are erased, by even a tiny particle of the Lord's Name. ||11||
कटे पाप असंख नावै इक कणी ॥११॥
