ਗਉੜੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Gauree, Fifth Mahalaa:
गउड़ी महला ५ ॥
ਕੋਟਿਮਜਨਕੀਨੋਇਸਨਾਨ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀਆਂ ਲਾ ਲਈਆਂ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
The merits of taking millions of ceremonial cleansing baths,
कोटि मजन कीनो इसनान ॥
ਲਾਖਅਰਬਖਰਬਦੀਨੋਦਾਨੁ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਅਰਬਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਖਰਬਾਂ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
the giving of hundreds of thousands, billions and trillions in charity
लाख अरब खरब दीनो दानु ॥
ਜਾਮਨਿਵਸਿਓਹਰਿਕੋਨਾਮੁ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
- these are obtained by those whose minds are filled with the Name of the Lord. ||1||
जा मनि वसिओ हरि को नामु ॥१॥
ਸਗਲਪਵਿਤਗੁਨਗਾਇਗੁਪਾਲ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who sing the Glories of the Lord of the World are totally pure.
सगल पवित गुन गाइ गुपाल ॥
ਪਾਪਮਿਟਹਿਸਾਧੂਸਰਨਿਦਇਆਲ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
Their sins are erased, in the Sanctuary of the Kind and Holy Saints. ||Pause||
पाप मिटहि साधू सरनि दइआल ॥ रहाउ ॥
ਬਹੁਤੁਉਰਧਤਪਸਾਧਨਸਾਧੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਪੁੱਠੇ ਲਟਕ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਸਾਧ ਲਏ,
The merits of performing all sorts of austere acts of penance and self-discipline,
बहुतु उरध तप साधन साधे ॥
ਅਨਿਕਲਾਭਮਨੋਰਥਲਾਧੇ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਲਏ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
earning huge profits and seeing one's desires fulfilled
अनिक लाभ मनोरथ लाधे ॥
ਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮਰਸਨਆਰਾਧੇ॥੨॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
- these are obtained by chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, with the tongue. ||2||
हरि हरि नाम रसन आराधे ॥२॥
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿਸਾਸਤਬੇਦਬਖਾਨੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
The merits of reciting the Simritees, the Shaastras and the Vedas,
सिंम्रिति सासत बेद बखाने ॥
ਜੋਗਗਿਆਨਸਿਧਸੁਖਜਾਨੇ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜੋਗ (ਦੀਆਂ ਗੁੰਝਲਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਿੱਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ,
knowledge of the science of Yoga, spiritual wisdom and the pleasure of miraculous spiritual powers
जोग गिआन सिध सुख जाने ॥
ਨਾਮੁਜਪਤਪ੍ਰਭਸਿਉਮਨਮਾਨੇ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
- these come by surrendering the mind and meditating on the Name of God. ||3||
नामु जपत प्रभ सिउ मन माने ॥३॥
ਅਗਾਧਿਬੋਧਿਹਰਿਅਗਮਅਪਾਰੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਉਸ ਅਥਾਹ ਹਸਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
The wisdom of the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord is incomprehensible.
अगाधि बोधि हरि अगम अपारे ॥
ਨਾਮੁਜਪਤਨਾਮੁਰਿਦੇਬੀਚਾਰੇ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and contemplating the Naam within our hearts,
नामु जपत नामु रिदे बीचारे ॥
ਨਾਨਕਕਉਪ੍ਰਭਕਿਰਪਾਧਾਰੇ॥੪॥੧੧੧॥
(ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਸਕਾਂ) ॥੪॥੧੧੧॥
O Nanak, God has showered His Mercy upon us. ||4||111||
