Fifth Mahalaa:
मः ५ ॥
ਹੁਕਮਿਉਛਲੈਹੁਕਮੇਰਹੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
By the Hukam of Lord's Command, they move about; by the Lord's Command, they remain still.
हुकमि उछलै हुकमे रहै ॥
ਹੁਕਮੇਦੁਖੁਸੁਖੁਸਮਕਰਿਸਹੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Hukam, they endure pain and pleasure alike.
हुकमे दुखु सुखु सम करि सहै ॥
ਹੁਕਮੇਨਾਮੁਜਪੈਦਿਨੁਰਾਤਿ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Hukam, they chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, day and night.
हुकमे नामु जपै दिनु राति ॥
ਨਾਨਕਜਿਸਨੋਹੋਵੈਦਾਤਿ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, he alone does so, who is blessed.
नानक जिस नो होवै दाति ॥
ਹੁਕਮਿਮਰੈਹੁਕਮੇਹੀਜੀਵੈ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜਿਊਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
By the Hukam of the Lord's Command, they die; by the Hukam of His Command, they live.
हुकमि मरै हुकमे ही जीवै ॥
ਹੁਕਮੇਨਾਨੑਾਵਡਾਥੀਵੈ॥
ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਨਿੱਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ (ਤੇ ਫਿਰ) ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By His Hukam, they become tiny, and huge.
हुकमे नाना वडा थीवै ॥
ਹੁਕਮੇਸੋਗਹਰਖਆਨੰਦ॥
ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਾਪਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
By His Hukam, they receive pain, happiness and bliss.
हुकमे सोग हरख आनंद ॥
ਹੁਕਮੇਜਪੈਨਿਰੋਧਰਗੁਰਮੰਤ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ।
By His Hukam, they chant the Guru's Mantra, which always works.
हुकमे जपै निरोधर गुरमंत ॥
ਹੁਕਮੇਆਵਣੁਜਾਣੁਰਹਾਏ॥
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Hukam, coming and going in reincarnation cease,
हुकमे आवणु जाणु रहाए ॥
ਨਾਨਕਜਾਕਉਭਗਤੀਲਾਏ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
O Nanak, when He links them to His devotional worship. ||2||
नानक जा कउ भगती लाए ॥२॥
