Kaanraa, Fifth Mahalaa:
कानड़ा महला ५ ॥
ਸਾਧਸਰਨਿਚਰਨਚਿਤੁਲਾਇਆ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ,
In the Sanctuary of the Holy, I focus my consciousness on the Lord's Feet.
साध सरनि चरन चितु लाइआ ॥
ਸੁਪਨਕੀਬਾਤਸੁਨੀਪੇਖੀਸੁਪਨਾਨਾਮਮੰਤ੍ਰੁਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੀ (ਅਖੀਂ) ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
When I was dreaming, I heard and saw only dream-objects. The True Guru has implanted the Mantra of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me. ||1||Pause||
सुपन की बात सुनी पेखी सुपना नाम मंत्रु सतिगुरू द्रिड़ाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਨਹਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੋਰਾਜਜੋਬਨਿਧਨਿਬਹੁਰਿਬਹੁਰਿਫਿਰਿਧਾਇਆ॥
(ਇਹ ਮਨ) ਰਾਜ ਜੋਬਨ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜਦਾ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ) ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Power, youth and wealth do not bring satisfaction; people chase after them again and again.
नह त्रिपतानो राज जोबनि धनि बहुरि बहुरि फिरि धाइआ ॥
ਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਆਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਸਭਬੁਝੀਹੈਸਾਂਤਿਪਾਈਗੁਨਗਾਇਆ॥੧॥
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
I have found peace and tranquility, and all my thirsty desires have been quenched, singing His Glorious Praises. ||1||
सुखु पाइआ त्रिसना सभ बुझी है सांति पाई गुन गाइआ ॥१॥
ਬਿਨੁਬੂਝੇਪਸੂਕੀਨਿਆਈਭ੍ਰਮਿਮੋਹਿਬਿਆਪਿਓਮਾਇਆ॥
(ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Without understanding, they are like beasts, engrossed in doubt, emotional attachment and Maya.
बिनु बूझे पसू की निआई भ्रमि मोहि बिआपिओ माइआ ॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਜਮਜੇਵਰੀਕਾਟੀਨਾਨਕਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਇਆ॥੨॥੧੦॥
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਜਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੦॥
But in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the noose of Death is cut, O Nanak, and one intuitively merges in celestial peace. ||2||10||

ਹਰਿਕੇਚਰਨਹਿਰਦੈਗਾਇ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ; ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ) ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ।
Sing of the Lord's Feet within your heart.
हरि के चरन हिरदै गाइ ॥
ਸੀਤਲਾਸੁਖਸਾਂਤਿਮੂਰਤਿਸਿਮਰਿਸਿਮਰਿਨਿਤਧਿਆਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਠੰਢ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Meditate, meditate in constant remembrance on God, the Embodiment of soothing peace and cooling tranquility. ||1||Pause||
सीतला सुख सांति मूरति सिमरि सिमरि नित धिआइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਸਗਲਆਸਹੋਤਪੂਰਨਕੋਟਿਜਨਮਦੁਖੁਜਾਇ॥੧॥
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
All your hopes shall be fulfilled, and the pain of millions of deaths and births shall be gone. ||1||
सगल आस होत पूरन कोटि जनम दुखु जाइ ॥१॥
ਪੁੰਨਦਾਨਅਨੇਕਕਿਰਿਆਸਾਧੂਸੰਗਿਸਮਾਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਕਰਮ।
Immerse yourself in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and you shall obtain the benefits of giving charitable gifts, and all sorts of good deeds.
पुंन दान अनेक किरिआ साधू संगि समाइ ॥
ਤਾਪਸੰਤਾਪਮਿਟੇਨਾਨਕਬਾਹੁੜਿਕਾਲੁਨਖਾਇ॥੨॥੧੧॥
(ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਫਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥੧੧॥
Sorrow and suffering shall be erased, O Nanak, and you shall never again be devoured by death. ||2||11||
ताप संताप मिटे नानक बाहुड़ि कालु न खाइ ॥२॥११॥

कानड़ा महला ५ घरु ३ ॥
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
ਕਥੀਐਸੰਤਸੰਗਿਪ੍ਰਭਗਿਆਨੁ॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
Speak of God's Wisdom in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
कथीऐ संतसंगि प्रभ गिआनु ॥
ਪੂਰਨਪਰਮਜੋਤਿਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਸਿਮਰਤਪਾਈਐਮਾਨੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਨੂਰ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ (ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇਜ਼ਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Meditating in remembrance on the Perfect Supreme Divine Light, the Transcendent Lord God, honor and glory are obtained. ||1||Pause||
पूरन परम जोति परमेसुर सिमरत पाईऐ मानु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਆਵਤਜਾਤਰਹੇਸ੍ਰਮਨਾਸੇਸਿਮਰਤਸਾਧੂਸੰਗਿ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਦੇ) ਥਕੇਵੇਂ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
One's comings and goings in reincarnation cease, and suffering is dispelled, meditating in remembrance in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
आवत जात रहे स्रम नासे सिमरत साधू संगि ॥
ਪਤਿਤਪੁਨੀਤਹੋਹਿਖਿਨਭੀਤਰਿਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਕੈਰੰਗਿ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Sinners are sanctified in an instant, in the love of the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
पतित पुनीत होहि खिन भीतरि पारब्रहम कै रंगि ॥१॥
ਜੋਜੋਕਥੈਸੁਨੈਹਰਿਕੀਰਤਨੁਤਾਕੀਦੁਰਮਤਿਨਾਸ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਮੱਤ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whoever speaks and listens to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises is rid of evil-mindedness.
जो जो कथै सुनै हरि कीरतनु ता की दुरमति नास ॥
ਸਗਲਮਨੋਰਥਪਾਵੈਨਾਨਕਪੂਰਨਹੋਵੈਆਸ॥੨॥੧॥੧੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੨॥
All hopes and desires, O Nanak, are fulfilled. ||2||1||12||
सगल मनोरथ पावै नानक पूरन होवै आस ॥२॥१॥१२॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ),
The Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
साधसंगति निधि हरि को नाम ॥
ਸੰਗਿਸਹਾਈਜੀਅਕੈਕਾਮ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
It is the Companion of the soul, its Helper and Support. ||1||Pause||
संगि सहाई जीअ कै काम ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਸੰਤਰੇਨੁਨਿਤਿਮਜਨੁਕਰੈ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Continually bathing in the dust of the feet of the Saints,
संत रेनु निति मजनु करै ॥
ਜਨਮਜਨਮਕੇਕਿਲਬਿਖਹਰੈ॥੧॥
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
the sins of countless incarnations are washed away. ||1||
जनम जनम के किलबिख हरै ॥१॥
ਸੰਤਜਨਾਕੀਊਚੀਬਾਨੀ॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਉੱਚਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ
The words of the humble Saints are lofty and exalted.
संत जना की ऊची बानी ॥
ਸਿਮਰਿਸਿਮਰਿਤਰੇਨਾਨਕਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ॥੨॥੨॥੧੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੩॥
Meditating, meditating in remembrance, O Nanak, mortal beings are carried across and saved. ||2||2||13||
सिमरि सिमरि तरे नानक प्रानी ॥२॥२॥१३॥

कानड़ा महला ५ ॥
ਸਾਧੂਹਰਿਹਰੇਗੁਨਗਾਇ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ,
O Holy people, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Haray.
साधू हरि हरे गुन गाइ ॥
ਮਾਨਤਨੁਧਨੁਪ੍ਰਾਨਪ੍ਰਭਕੇਸਿਮਰਤਦੁਖੁਜਾਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜਿਸ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ (ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਇਹ ਮਨ, ਇਹ ਤਨ, ਇਹ ਧਨ, ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ, (ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mind, body, wealth and the breath of life - all come from God; remembering Him in meditation, pain is taken away. ||1||Pause||
मान तनु धनु प्रान प्रभ के सिमरत दुखु जाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਈਤਊਤਕਹਾਲੋੁਭਾਵਹਿਏਕਸਿਉਮਨੁਲਾਇ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ ਇਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ? ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜ ॥੧॥
Why are you entangled in this and that? Let your mind be attuned to the One. ||1||
ईत ऊत कहा लुोभावहि एक सिउ मनु लाइ ॥१॥
ਮਹਾਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਸੰਤਆਸਨੁਮਿਲਿਸੰਗਿਗੋਬਿਦੁਧਿਆਇ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ (ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਧਿਆਇਆ ਕਰ ॥੨॥
The place of the Saints is utterly sacred; meet with them, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
महा पवित्र संत आसनु मिलि संगि गोबिदु धिआइ ॥२॥
ਸਗਲਤਿਆਗਿਸਰਨਿਆਇਓਨਾਨਕਲੇਹੁਮਿਲਾਇ॥੩॥੩॥੧੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ)ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਸਰੇ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ ॥੩॥੩॥੧੪॥
O Nanak, I have abandoned everything and come to Your Sanctuary. Please let me merge with You. ||3||3||14||
सगल तिआगि सरनि आइओ नानक लेहु मिलाइ ॥३॥३॥१४॥

ਪੇਖਿਪੇਖਿਬਿਗਸਾਉਸਾਜਨਪ੍ਰਭੁਆਪਨਾਇਕਾਂਤ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, (ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ) ਵੱਖਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gazing upon and beholding my Best Friend, I blossom forth in bliss; my God is the One and Only. ||1||Pause||
पेखि पेखि बिगसाउ साजन प्रभु आपना इकांत ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਆਨਦਾਸੁਖਸਹਜਮੂਰਤਿਤਿਸੁਆਨਨਾਹੀਭਾਂਤਿ॥੧॥
ਉਹ ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਸੁਖ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
He is the Image of Ecstasy, Intuitive Peace and Poise. There is no other like Him. ||1||

ਸਿਮਰਤਇਕਬਾਰਹਰਿਹਰਿਮਿਟਿਕੋਟਿਕਸਮਲਜਾਂਤਿ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, Har, Har, even once, millions of sins are erased. ||2||
