ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਮਾਇਬਾਪਪੂਤ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives with their mothers, fathers and children.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਰਾਜਮਿਲਖਵਾਪਾਰਾ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਣਨ, ਭੁਇਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਕੀ, ਵਪਾਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੰਘ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Some pass their lives in power, estates and trade.
ਸੰਤਬਿਹਾਵੈਹਰਿਨਾਮਅਧਾਰਾ॥੧॥
(ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The Saints pass their lives with the support of the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਰਚਨਾਸਾਚੁਬਨੀ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
The world is the creation of the True Lord.
ਸਭਕਾਏਕੁਧਨੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਇਕ ਉਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He alone is the Master of all. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਬੇਦਅਰੁਬਾਦਿ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵੇਦ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਧਾਰਮਿਕ) ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives in arguments and debates about scriptures.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਰਸਨਾਸਾਦਿ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਜੀਭ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives tasting flavors.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਲਪਟਿਸੰਗਿਨਾਰੀ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮ-ਪੂਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Some pass their lives attached to women.
ਸੰਤਰਚੇਕੇਵਲਨਾਮਮੁਰਾਰੀ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
The Saints are absorbed only in the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਖੇਲਤਜੂਆ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਜੂਆ ਖੇਡਦਿਆਂ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives gambling.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਅਮਲੀਹੂਆ॥
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਫ਼ੀਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਆਦੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives getting drunk.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਪਰਦਰਬਚੋੁਰਾਏ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਚੁਰਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives stealing the property of others.
ਹਰਿਜਨਬਿਹਾਵੈਨਾਮਧਿਆਏ॥੩॥
ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
The humble servants of the Lord pass their lives meditating on the Naam. ||3||
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਜੋਗਤਪਪੂਜਾ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਤਪਾਂਦਿਆਂ, ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives in Yoga, strict meditation, worship and adoration.
ਕਾਹੂਰੋਗਸੋਗਭਰਮੀਜਾ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਗ਼ਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some, in sickness, sorrow and doubt.
ਕਾਹੂਪਵਨਧਾਰਜਾਤਬਿਹਾਏ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਯਾਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives practicing control of the breath.
ਸੰਤਬਿਹਾਵੈਕੀਰਤਨੁਗਾਏ॥੪॥
ਪਰ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ॥੪॥
The Saints pass their lives singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||4||
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਦਿਨੁਰੈਨਿਚਾਲਤ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਤੁਰਦਿਆਂ;
Some pass their lives walking day and night.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਸੋਪਿੜੁਮਾਲਤ॥
ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਹੈ ਇਕੋ ਥਾਂ ਮੱਲ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ;
Some pass their lives on the fields of battle.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਬਾਲਪੜਾਵਤ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives teaching children.
ਸੰਤਬਿਹਾਵੈਹਰਿਜਸੁਗਾਵਤ॥੫॥
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ॥੫॥
The Saints pass their lives singing the Lord's Praise. ||5||
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਨਟਨਾਟਿਕਨਿਰਤੇ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨਟਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਟਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਚ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives as actors, acting and dancing.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਜੀਆਇਹਹਿਰਤੇ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਉਮਰ ਡਾਕੇ ਮਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives taking the lives of others.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਰਾਜਮਹਿਡਰਤੇ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਰਾਜ-ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਥਰ-ਥਰ ਕੰਬਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives ruling by intimidation.
ਸੰਤਬਿਹਾਵੈਹਰਿਜਸੁਕਰਤੇ॥੬॥
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
The Saints pass their lives chanting the Lord's Praises. ||6||
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਮਤਾਮਸੂਰਤਿ॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਖਿਆਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਗਿਣਤੀਆਂ ਗਿਣਦਿਆਂ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives counseling and giving advice.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਸੇਵਾਜਰੂਰਤਿ॥
(ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ) ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives forced to serve others.
ਕਾਹੂਬਿਹਾਵੈਸੋਧਤਜੀਵਤ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਖੋਜ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ;
Some pass their lives exploring life's mysteries.
ਸੰਤਬਿਹਾਵੈਹਰਿਰਸੁਪੀਵਤ॥੭॥
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ ॥੭॥
The Saints pass their lives drinking in the sublime essence of the Lord. ||7||
ਜਿਤੁਕੋਲਾਇਆਤਿਤੁਹੀਲਗਾਨਾ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
As the Lord attaches us, so we are attached.
ਨਾਕੋਮੂੜੁਨਹੀਕੋਸਿਆਨਾ॥
ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ।
No one is foolish, and no one is wise.
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਜਿਸੁਦੇਵੈਨਾਉ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those who are blessed
ਨਾਨਕਤਾਕੈਬਲਿਬਲਿਜਾਉ॥੮॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੮॥੩॥
by His Grace to receive His Name. ||8||3||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Raamkalee, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਦਾਵਾਅਗਨਿਰਹੇਹਰਿਬੂਟ॥
ਜੰਗਲ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਹਰੇ ਬੂਟੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਾੜਦੀ। ਬਾਕੀ ਜੰਗਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜਦੀ ਹੈ);
Even in a forest fire, some trees remain green.
ਮਾਤਗਰਭਸੰਕਟਤੇਛੂਟ॥
ਬੱਚਾ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The infant is released from the pain of the mother's womb.
ਜਾਕਾਨਾਮੁਸਿਮਰਤਭਉਜਾਇ॥
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, fear is dispelled.
ਤੈਸੇਸੰਤਜਨਾਰਾਖੈਹਰਿਰਾਇ॥੧॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Just so, the Sovereign Lord protects and saves the Saints. ||1||
ਐਸੇਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਦਇਆਲ॥
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਹੀ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈਂ।
Such is the Merciful Lord, my Protector.
ਜਤਕਤਦੇਖਉਤੁਮਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Wherever I look, I see You cherishing and nurturing. ||1||Pause||
ਜਲੁਪੀਵਤਜਿਉਤਿਖਾਮਿਟੰਤ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪੀਤਿਆਂ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
As thirst is quenched by drinking water;
ਧਨਬਿਗਸੈਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਆਵਤਕੰਤ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਤੀ ਘਰ ਆਇਆਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
as the bride blossoms forth when her husband comes home;
ਲੋਭੀਕਾਧਨੁਪ੍ਰਾਣਅਧਾਰੁ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
as wealth is the support of the greedy person
ਤਿਉਹਰਿਜਨਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮਪਿਆਰੁ॥੨॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
- just so, the humble servant of the Lord loves the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||
ਕਿਰਸਾਨੀਜਿਉਰਾਖੈਰਖਵਾਲਾ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਖਾ ਖੇਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
As the farmer protects his fields;
ਮਾਤਪਿਤਾਦਇਆਜਿਉਬਾਲਾ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
as the mother and father show compassion to their child;
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁਦੇਖਿਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁਮਿਲਿਜਾਇ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
as the lover merges on seeing the beloved;
ਤਿਉਹਰਿਜਨਰਾਖੈਕੰਠਿਲਾਇ॥੩॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
just so does the Lord hug His humble servant close in His Embrace. ||3||
ਜਿਉਅੰਧੁਲੇਪੇਖਤਹੋਇਅਨੰਦ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
As the blind man is in ecstasy, when he can see again;
ਗੂੰਗਾਬਕਤਗਾਵੈਬਹੁਛੰਦ॥
ਜੇ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ (ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਕਈ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
and the mute, when he is able to speak and sing songs;
ਪਿੰਗੁਲਪਰਬਤਪਰਤੇਪਾਰਿ॥
ਕੋਈ ਲੂਲ੍ਹਾ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕਣ ਨਾਲ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
and the cripple, being able to climb over the mountain
ਹਰਿਕੈਨਾਮਿਸਗਲਉਧਾਰਿ॥੪॥
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਹੜੀ) ਲੋਕਾਈ ਦਾ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੪॥
- just so, the Name of the Lord saves all. ||4||
ਜਿਉਪਾਵਕਸੰਗਿਸੀਤਕੋਨਾਸ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਠੰਢ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
As cold is dispelled by fire,
ਐਸੇਪ੍ਰਾਛਤਸੰਤਸੰਗਿਬਿਨਾਸ॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
sins are driven out in the Society of the Saints.
ਜਿਉਸਾਬੁਨਿਕਾਪਰਊਜਲਹੋਤ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਬਣ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਸਾਫ਼-ਸੁਥਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
As cloth is cleaned by soap,
ਨਾਮਜਪਤਸਭੁਭ੍ਰਮੁਭਉਖੋਤ॥੫॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਵਹਿਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
just so, by chanting the Naam, all doubts and fears are dispelled. ||5||
ਜਿਉਚਕਵੀਸੂਰਜਕੀਆਸ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਚਕਵੀ (ਚਕਵੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੂਰਜ (ਦੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ) ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
As the chakvi bird longs for the sun,
ਜਿਉਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕਬੂੰਦਕੀਪਿਆਸ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁਝਾਣ ਲਈ) ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੂੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
as the rainbird thirsts for the rain drop,
ਜਿਉਕੁਰੰਕਨਾਦਕਰਨਸਮਾਨੇ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਰਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
as the deer's ears are attuned to the sound of the bell,
ਤਿਉਹਰਿਨਾਮਹਰਿਜਨਮਨਹਿਸੁਖਾਨੇ॥੬॥
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
the Lord's Name is pleasing to the mind of the Lord's humble servant. ||6||
