ਸਹਜਸਮਾਧਿਧੁਨਿਗਹਿਰਗੰਭੀਰਾ॥
ਪੂਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਅਤੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਲਗਨ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
he is intuitively in Samaadhi, profound and unfathomable.
ਸਦਾਮੁਕਤੁਤਾਕੇਪੂਰੇਕਾਮ॥
ਸਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
He is liberated forever and all his affairs are perfectly resolved;
ਜਾਕੈਰਿਦੈਵਸੈਹਰਿਨਾਮ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
the Lord's Name abides within his heart. ||2||
ਸਗਲਸੂਖਆਨੰਦਅਰੋਗ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨਸਕ) ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He is totally peaceful, blissful and healthy;
ਸਮਦਰਸੀਪੂਰਨਨਿਰਜੋਗ॥
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ
he looks upon all impartially, and is perfectly detached.
ਆਇਨਜਾਇਡੋਲੈਕਤਨਾਹੀ॥
ਉਹ ਕਿਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਤੇ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
He does not come and go, and he never wavers;
ਜਾਕੈਨਾਮੁਬਸੈਮਨਮਾਹੀ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
the Naam abides in his mind. ||3||
ਦੀਨਦਇਆਲਗੋੁਪਾਲਗੋਵਿੰਦ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
God is Merciful to the meek; He is the Lord of the World, the Lord of the Universe.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਜਪੀਐਉਤਰੈਚਿੰਦ॥
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh meditates on Him, and his worries are gone.
ਨਾਨਕਕਉਗੁਰਿਦੀਆਨਾਮੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
The Guru has blessed Nanak with the Naam;
ਸੰਤਨਕੀਟਹਲਸੰਤਕਾਕਾਮੁ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੬॥
(ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਦੱਸਿਆ) ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੬॥
he serves the Saints, and works for the Saints. ||4||15||26||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Raamkalee, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਬੀਜਮੰਤ੍ਰੁਹਰਿਕੀਰਤਨੁਗਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ (ਦਾ ਗੀਤ) ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ।
Sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and the Beej Mantra, the Seed Mantra.
ਆਗੈਮਿਲੀਨਿਥਾਵੇਥਾਉ॥
(ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Even the homeless find a home in the world hereafter.
ਗੁਰਪੂਰੇਕੀਚਰਣੀਲਾਗੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ,
Fall at the feet of the Perfect Guru;
ਜਨਮਜਨਮਕਾਸੋਇਆਜਾਗੁ॥੧॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਗ ਪਏਂਗਾ ॥੧॥
you have slept for so many incarnations - wake up! ||1||
ਹਰਿਹਰਿਜਾਪੁਜਪਲਾ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆ,
Chant the Chant of the Lord's Name, Har, Har.
ਗੁਰਕਿਰਪਾਤੇਹਿਰਦੈਵਾਸੈਭਉਜਲੁਪਾਰਿਪਰਲਾ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
By Guru's Grace, it shall be enshrined within your heart, and you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁਨਿਧਾਨੁਧਿਆਇਮਨਅਟਲ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
Meditate on the eternal treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mind,
ਤਾਛੂਟਹਿਮਾਇਆਕੇਪਟਲ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਦੇ ਪੜਦੇ ਪਾਟਣਗੇ।
and then, the screen of Maya shall be torn away.
ਗੁਰਕਾਸਬਦੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਰਸੁਪੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
Drink in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Guru's Shabad,
ਤਾਤੇਰਾਹੋਇਨਿਰਮਲਜੀਉ॥੨॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ॥੨॥
and then your soul shall be rendered immaculate and pure. ||2||
ਸੋਧਤਸੋਧਤਸੋਧਿਬੀਚਾਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਅਸਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਹੈ,
Searching, searching, searching, I have realized
ਬਿਨੁਹਰਿਭਗਤਿਨਹੀਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ॥
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
that without devotional worship of the Lord, no one is saved.
ਸੋਹਰਿਭਜਨੁਸਾਧਕੈਸੰਗਿ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਭਗਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
So vibrate, and meditate on that Lord in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
ਮਨੁਤਨੁਰਾਪੈਹਰਿਕੈਰੰਗਿ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
your mind and body shall be imbued with love for the Lord. ||3||
ਛੋਡਿਸਿਆਣਪਬਹੁਚਤੁਰਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਆਪਣੀ) ਸਿਆਣਪ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ।
Renounce all your cleverness and trickery.
ਮਨਬਿਨੁਹਰਿਨਾਵੈਜਾਇਨਕਾਈ॥
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਭੁਇਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਜੀਊਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ), ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਜਾਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
O mind, without the Lord's Name, there is no place of rest.
ਦਇਆਧਾਰੀਗੋਵਿਦਗੋੁਸਾਈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord of the Universe, the Lord of the World, has taken pity on me.
ਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਨਕਟੇਕਟਿਕਾਈ॥੪॥੧੬॥੨੭॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੨੭॥
Nanak seeks the protection and support of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||16||27||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Raamkalee, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਸੰਤਕੈਸੰਗਿਰਾਮਰੰਗਕੇਲ॥
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਖੇਡਿਆ ਕਰ,
In the Saints' Congregation, play joyfully with the Lord,
ਆਗੈਜਮਸਿਉਹੋਇਨਮੇਲ॥
ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਏਗਾ।
and you will not have to meet the Messenger of Death hereafter.
ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿਕਾਭਇਆਬਿਨਾਸ॥
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Your egotistical intellect shall be dispelled,
ਦੁਰਮਤਿਹੋਈਸਗਲੀਨਾਸ॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
and your evil-mindedness will be totally taken away. ||1||
ਰਾਮਨਾਮਗੁਣਗਾਇਪੰਡਿਤ॥
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ,
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord's Name, O Pandit.
ਕਰਮਕਾਂਡਅਹੰਕਾਰੁਨਕਾਜੈਕੁਸਲਸੇਤੀਘਰਿਜਾਹਿਪੰਡਿਤ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਲਸਿਲੇ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ। (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵਨ ਬਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਸਲ) ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੇਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Religious rituals and egotism are of no use at all. You shall go home with happiness, O Pandit. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿਕਾਜਸੁਨਿਧਿਲੀਆਲਾਭ॥
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ,
I have earned the profit, the wealth of the Lord's praise.
ਪੂਰਨਭਏਮਨੋਰਥਸਾਭ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
All my hopes have been fulfilled.
ਦੁਖੁਨਾਠਾਸੁਖੁਘਰਮਹਿਆਇਆ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਸਾਰਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ,
Pain has left me, and peace has come to my home.
ਸੰਤਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿਕਮਲੁਬਿਗਸਾਇਆ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
By the Grace of the Saints, my heart-lotus blossoms forth. ||2||
ਨਾਮਰਤਨੁਜਿਨਿਪਾਇਆਦਾਨੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਤੂੰ ਜਜਮਾਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਤਨ ਦਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ,
One who is blessed with the gift of the jewel of the Name,
ਤਿਸੁਜਨਹੋਏਸਗਲਨਿਧਾਨ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ।
obtains all treasures.
ਸੰਤੋਖੁਆਇਆਮਨਿਪੂਰਾਪਾਇ॥
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
His mind becomes content, finding the Perfect Lord.
ਫਿਰਿਫਿਰਿਮਾਗਨਕਾਹੇਜਾਇ॥੩॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਜਜਮਾਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਿਉਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਜਾਇਗਾ? ॥੩॥
Why should he ever go begging again? ||3||
ਹਰਿਕੀਕਥਾਸੁਨਤਪਵਿਤ॥
(ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਨ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Hearing the Lord's sermon, he becomes pure and holy.
ਜਿਹਵਾਬਕਤਪਾਈਗਤਿਮਤਿ॥
ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ (ਸੁਚੱਜੀ) ਅਕਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Chanting it with his tongue, he finds the way to salvation.
ਸੋਪਰਵਾਣੁਜਿਸੁਰਿਦੈਵਸਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਵਸਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He alone is approved, who enshrines the Lord within his heart.
ਨਾਨਕਤੇਜਨਊਤਮਭਾਈ॥੪॥੧੭॥੨੮॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੨੮॥
Nanak: such a humble being is exalted, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||17||28||
ਰਾਮਕਲੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Raamkalee, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਗਹੁਕਰਿਪਕਰੀਨਆਈਹਾਥਿ॥
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ) ਬੜੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਫੜਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਆਈ।
No matter how hard you try to grab it, it does not come into your hands.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਕਰੀਚਾਲੀਨਹੀਸਾਥਿ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਨਾਲ) ਬੜਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਭੀ ਪਾਇਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਤੁਰੀ (ਸਾਥ ਨਾਹ ਨਿਬਾਹ ਸਕੀ)।
No matter how much you may love it, it does not go along with you.
ਕਹੁਨਾਨਕਜਉਤਿਆਗਿਦਈ॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਨੋਂ) ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
Says Nanak, when you abandon it,
ਤਬਓਹਚਰਣੀਆਇਪਈ॥੧॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪੈ ਗਈ ॥੧॥
then it comes and falls at your feet. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿਸੰਤਹੁਨਿਰਮਲਬੀਚਾਰ॥
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸੁਣੋ-
Listen, O Saints: this is the pure philosophy.
ਰਾਮਨਾਮਬਿਨੁਗਤਿਨਹੀਕਾਈਗੁਰੁਪੂਰਾਭੇਟਤਉਧਾਰ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, (ਪਰ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Without the Lord's Name, there is no salvation. Meeting with the Perfect Guru, one is saved. ||1||Pause||
