ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮਿਥਨਮੋਹਅਗਨਿਸੋਕਸਾਗਰ॥
ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ; ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ, ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ-
Attachment to sex is an ocean of fire and pain.
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਉਧਰੁਹਰਿਨਾਗਰ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਰੀ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੧॥
By Your Grace, O Sublime Lord, please save me from it. ||1||
ਚਰਣਕਮਲਸਰਣਾਇਨਰਾਇਣ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ! (ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ।
I seek the Sanctuary of the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਦੀਨਾਨਾਥਭਗਤਪਰਾਇਣ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਹੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He is the Master of the meek, the Support of His devotees. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਾਥਾਨਾਥਭਗਤਭੈਮੇਟਨ॥
ਹੇ ਨਿਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼)
Master of the masterless, Patron of the forlorn, Eradicator of fear of His devotees.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਜਮਦੂਤਨਭੇਟਨ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਜਮਦੂਤ (ਭੀ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੇ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ) ॥੨॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Messenger of Death cannot even touch them. ||2||
ਜੀਵਨਰੂਪਅਨੂਪਦਇਆਲਾ॥
ਹੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ! ਹੇ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! (ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼),
The Merciful, Incomparably Beautiful, Embodiment of Life.
ਰਵਣਗੁਣਾਕਟੀਐਜਮਜਾਲਾ॥੩॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Vibrating the Glorious Virtues of the Lord, the noose of the Messenger of Death is cut away. ||3||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਾਮੁਰਸਨਨਿਤਜਾਪੈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who constantly chants the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam with his tongue,
ਰੋਗਰੂਪਮਾਇਆਨਬਿਆਪੈ॥੪॥
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
is not touched or affected by Maya, the embodiment of disease. ||4||
ਜਪਿਗੋਬਿੰਦਸੰਗੀਸਭਿਤਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਮਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Chant and meditate on God, the Lord of the Universe, and all of your companions shall be carried across;
ਪੋਹਤਨਾਹੀਪੰਚਬਟਵਾਰੇ॥੫॥
ਪੰਜੇ ਲੁਟੇਰੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੫॥
the five thieves will not even approach. ||5||
ਮਨਬਚਕ੍ਰਮਪ੍ਰਭੁਏਕੁਧਿਆਏ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ, ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who meditates on the One God in thought, word and deed
ਸਰਬਫਲਾਸੋਈਜਨੁਪਾਏ॥੬॥
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
- that humble being receives the fruits of all rewards. ||6||
ਧਾਰਿਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁਅਪਨਾਪ੍ਰਭਿਕੀਨਾ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ,
Showering His Mercy, God has made me His own;
ਕੇਵਲਨਾਮੁਭਗਤਿਰਸੁਦੀਨਾ॥੭॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੭॥
He has blessed me with the unique and singular Naam, and the sublime essence of devotion. ||7||
ਆਦਿਮਧਿਅੰਤਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਸੋਈ॥
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, He is God.
ਨਾਨਕਤਿਸੁਬਿਨੁਅਵਰੁਨਕੋਈ॥੮॥੧॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੧॥੨॥
O Nanak, without Him, there is no other at all. ||8||1||2||
ਰਾਗੁਸੂਹੀਮਹਲਾ੫ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆਘਰੁ੯॥
ਰਾਗ ਸੂਹੀ, ਘਰ ੯ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਠ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜਿਨਡਿਠਿਆਮਨੁਰਹਸੀਐਕਿਉਪਾਈਐਤਿਨੑਸੰਗੁਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ?
Gazing upon them, my mind is enraptured. How can I join them and be with them?
ਸੰਤਸਜਨਮਨਮਿਤ੍ਰਸੇਲਾਇਨਿਪ੍ਰਭਸਿਉਰੰਗੁਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੱਜਣ ਹਨ, ਸੰਤ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅਸਲ ਮੇਲੀ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਣ।
They are Saints and friends, good friends of my mind, who inspire me and help me tune in to God's Love.
ਤਿਨੑਸਿਉਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਨਤੁਟਈਕਬਹੁਨਹੋਵੈਭੰਗੁਜੀਉ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਹ ਟੁੱਟੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਦੇ ਅਜੋੜ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
My love for them shall never die; it shall never, ever be broken. ||1||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਪ੍ਰਭਕਰਿਦਇਆਗੁਣਗਾਵਾਤੇਰੇਨਿਤਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
O Supreme Lord God, please grant me Your Grace, that I might constantly sing Your Glorious Praises.
ਆਇਮਿਲਹੁਸੰਤਸਜਣਾਨਾਮੁਜਪਹਮਨਮਿਤਜੀਉ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੇਲੀਓ! ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲੋ (ਇਕੱਠੇ ਬੈਠੀਏ, ਤੇ,) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Come, and meet with me, O Saints, and good friends; let us chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Best Friend of my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਦੇਖੈਸੁਣੇਨਜਾਣਈਮਾਇਆਮੋਹਿਆਅੰਧੁਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਹ ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
He does not see, he does not hear, and he does not understand; he is blind, enticed and bewitched by Maya.
ਕਾਚੀਦੇਹਾਵਿਣਸਣੀਕੂੜੁਕਮਾਵੈਧੰਧੁਜੀਉ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ ਕਿ) ਕੱਚੇ ਘੜੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹੀ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
His body is false and transitory; it shall perish. And still, he entangles himself in false pursuits.
ਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਵਹਿਸੇਜਿਣਿਚਲੇਗੁਰਪੂਰੇਸਨਬੰਧੁਜੀਉ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ (ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
They alone depart victorious, who have meditated on the Naam; they stick with the Perfect Guru. ||2||
ਹੁਕਮੇਜੁਗਮਹਿਆਇਆਚਲਣੁਹੁਕਮਿਸੰਜੋਗਿਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਢੋ ਢੁਕਣ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਇਥੋਂ) ਕੂਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By the Hukam of God's Will, they come into this world, and they leave upon receipt of His Hukam.
ਹੁਕਮੇਪਰਪੰਚੁਪਸਰਿਆਹੁਕਮਿਕਰੇਰਸਭੋਗਜੀਉ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਖਿਲਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਇਥੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
By His Hukam, the Expanse of the Universe is expanded. By His Hukam, they enjoy pleasures.
ਜਿਸਨੋਕਰਤਾਵਿਸਰੈਤਿਸਹਿਵਿਛੋੜਾਸੋਗੁਜੀਉ॥੩॥
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਰਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
One who forgets the Creator Lord, suffers sorrow and separation. ||3||
ਆਪਨੜੇਪ੍ਰਭਭਾਣਿਆਦਰਗਹਪੈਧਾਜਾਇਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who is pleasing to his God, goes to His Court dressed in robes of honor.
ਐਥੈਸੁਖੁਮੁਖੁਉਜਲਾਇਕੋਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇਜੀਉ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who meditates on the Naam, the One Name, finds peace in this world; his face is radiant and bright.
ਆਦਰੁਦਿਤਾਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਆਸਤਭਾਇਜੀਉ॥੪॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਇਥੇ) ਚੰਗੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ॥੪॥
The Supreme Lord confers honor and respect on those who serve the Guru with true love. ||4||
ਥਾਨਥਨੰਤਰਿਰਵਿਰਹਿਆਸਰਬਜੀਆਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਜੀਉ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
He is pervading and permeating the spaces and interspaces; He loves and cherishes all beings.
ਸਚੁਖਜਾਨਾਸੰਚਿਆਏਕੁਨਾਮੁਧਨੁਮਾਲਜੀਉ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
I have accumulated the true treasure, the wealth and riches of the One Name.
ਮਨਤੇਕਬਹੁਨਵੀਸਰੈਜਾਆਪੇਹੋਇਦਇਆਲਜੀਉ॥੫॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ॥੫॥
I shall never forget Him from my mind, since He has been so merciful to me. ||5||
