ਤਾਣੁਮਾਣੁਦੀਬਾਣੁਸਾਚਾਨਾਨਕਕੀਪ੍ਰਭਟੇਕ॥੪॥੨॥੨੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲ ਹੈ, ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੦॥
The True Lord is Nanak's strength, honor and support; He alone is his protection. ||4||2||20||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਫਿਰਤਫਿਰਤਭੇਟੇਜਨਸਾਧੂਪੂਰੈਗੁਰਿਸਮਝਾਇਆ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ,
Wandering and roaming around, I met the Holy Perfect Guru, who has taught me.
ਆਨਸਗਲਬਿਧਿਕਾਂਮਿਨਆਵੈਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇਆ॥੧॥
ਕਿ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੁਗਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
All other devices did not work, so I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਤਾਤੇਮੋਹਿਧਾਰੀਓਟਗੋਪਾਲ॥
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ।
For this reason, I sought the Protection and Support of my Lord, the Cherisher of the Universe.
ਸਰਨਿਪਰਿਓਪੂਰਨਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਬਿਨਸੇਸਗਲਜੰਜਾਲ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ) ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਜੰਜਾਲ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਰਹਾਉ॥
I sought the Sanctuary of the Perfect Transcendent Lord, and all my entanglements were dissolved. ||Pause||
ਸੁਰਗਮਿਰਤਪਇਆਲਭੂਮੰਡਲਸਗਲਬਿਆਪੇਮਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੇਵ ਲੋਕ, ਮਾਤ-ਲੋਕ, ਪਾਤਾਲ-ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
Paradise, the earth, the nether regions of the underworld, and the globe of the world - all are engrossed in Maya.
ਜੀਅਉਧਾਰਨਸਭਕੁਲਤਾਰਨਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
To save your soul, and liberate all your ancestors, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਨਿਰੰਜਨੁਗਾਈਐਪਾਈਐਸਰਬਨਿਧਾਨਾ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਗਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
O Nanak, singing the Naam, the Name of the Immaculate Lord, all treasures are obtained.
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਜਿਸੁਦੇਇਸੁਆਮੀਬਿਰਲੇਕਾਹੂਜਾਨਾ॥੩॥੩॥੨੧॥
ਪਰ (ਇਹ ਭੇਤ) ਕਿਸੇ (ਉਸ) ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੩॥੨੧॥
Only that rare person, whom the Lord and Master blesses with His Grace, comes to know this. ||3||3||21||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫ਘਰੁ੨ਚਉਪਦੇ॥
ਰਾਗ ਧਨਾਸਰੀ, ਘਰ ੨ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਰ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mahalaa, Second House, Chau-Padas:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਛੋਡਿਜਾਹਿਸੇਕਰਹਿਪਰਾਲ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਹੀ ਨਿਕੰਮੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
You shall have to abandon the straw which you have collected.
ਕਾਮਿਨਆਵਹਿਸੇਜੰਜਾਲ॥
ਉਹੀ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਸਹੇੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।
These entanglements shall be of no use to you.
ਸੰਗਿਨਚਾਲਹਿਤਿਨਸਿਉਹੀਤ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ-ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜੇ (ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ।
You are in love with those things that will not go with you.
ਜੋਬੈਰਾਈਸੇਈਮੀਤ॥੧॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ) ਵੈਰੀ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
You think that your enemies are friends. ||1||
ਐਸੇਭਰਮਿਭੁਲੇਸੰਸਾਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੂਰਖ ਜਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਅਜੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
In such confusion, the world has gone astray.
ਜਨਮੁਪਦਾਰਥੁਖੋਇਗਵਾਰਾ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਕਿ ਆਪਣਾ) ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਗਵਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
The foolish mortal wastes this precious human life. ||Pause||
ਸਾਚੁਧਰਮੁਨਹੀਭਾਵੈਡੀਠਾ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ (ਵਾਲਾ) ਧਰਮ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ।
He does not like to see Truth and righteousness.
ਝੂਠਧੋਹਸਿਉਰਚਿਓਮੀਠਾ॥
ਝੂਠ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is attached to falsehood and deception; they seem sweet to him.
ਦਾਤਿਪਿਆਰੀਵਿਸਰਿਆਦਾਤਾਰਾ॥
ਦਾਤਾਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਦਾਤਿ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
He loves gifts, but he forgets the Giver.
ਜਾਣੈਨਾਹੀਮਰਣੁਵਿਚਾਰਾ॥੨॥
(ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੇਬਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੨॥
The wretched creature does not even think of death. ||2||
ਵਸਤੁਪਰਾਈਕਉਉਠਿਰੋਵੈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ) ਉਸ ਚੀਜ਼ ਲਈ ਦੌੜ ਦੌੜ ਤਰਲੇ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਬਿਗਾਨੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਣੀ ਹੈ।
He cries for the possessions of others.
ਕਰਮਧਰਮਸਗਲਾਈਖੋਵੈ॥
ਆਪਣਾ ਇਨਸਾਨੀ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He forfeits all the merits of his good deeds and religion.
ਹੁਕਮੁਨਬੂਝੈਆਵਣਜਾਣੇ॥
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ (ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ (ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
He does not understand the Hukam of the Lord's Command, and so he continues coming and going in reincarnation.
ਪਾਪਕਰੈਤਾਪਛੋਤਾਣੇ॥੩॥
ਨਿੱਤ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
He sins, and then regrets and repents. ||3||
ਜੋਤੁਧੁਭਾਵੈਸੋਪਰਵਾਣੁ॥
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whatever pleases You, Lord, that alone is acceptable.
ਤੇਰੇਭਾਣੇਨੋਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।
I am a sacrifice to Your Will.
ਨਾਨਕੁਗਰੀਬੁਬੰਦਾਜਨੁਤੇਰਾ॥
ਗਰੀਬ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹੈ।
Poor Nanak is Your slave, Your humble servant.
ਰਾਖਿਲੇਇਸਾਹਿਬੁਪ੍ਰਭੁਮੇਰਾ॥੪॥੧॥੨੨॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਆਪ) ਰੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੨॥
Save me, O my Lord God Master! ||4||1||22||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਮੋਹਿਮਸਕੀਨਪ੍ਰਭੁਨਾਮੁਅਧਾਰੁ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
I am meek and poor; the Name of God is my only Support.
ਖਾਟਣਕਉਹਰਿਹਰਿਰੋਜਗਾਰੁ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਖੱਟਣ ਕਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ।
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my occupation and earnings.
ਸੰਚਣਕਉਹਰਿਏਕੋਨਾਮੁ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
I gather only the Lord's Name.
ਹਲਤਿਪਲਤਿਤਾਕੈਆਵੈਕਾਮ॥੧॥
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
It is useful in both this world and the next. ||1||
ਨਾਮਿਰਤੇਪ੍ਰਭਰੰਗਿਅਪਾਰ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ-
Imbued with the Love of the Lord God's Infinite Name,
ਸਾਧਗਾਵਹਿਗੁਣਏਕਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਇੱਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਰਹਾਉ॥
the Holy Saints sing the Glorious Praises of the One Lord, the Formless Lord. ||Pause||
ਸਾਧਕੀਸੋਭਾਅਤਿਮਸਕੀਨੀ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ (ਦਾ ਮੂਲ) ਹੈ,
The Glory of the Holy Saints comes from their total humility.
ਸੰਤਵਡਾਈਹਰਿਜਸੁਚੀਨੀ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ) ਹੈ।
The Saints realize that their greatness rests in the Praises of the Lord.
ਅਨਦੁਸੰਤਨਕੈਭਗਤਿਗੋਵਿੰਦ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, the Saints are in bliss.
ਸੂਖੁਸੰਤਨਕੈਬਿਨਸੀਚਿੰਦ॥੨॥
(ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
The Saints find peace, and their anxieties are dispelled. ||2||
ਜਹਸਾਧਸੰਤਨਹੋਵਹਿਇਕਤ੍ਰ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤ ਜਿੱਥੇ (ਭੀ) ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Wherever the Holy Saints gather,
ਤਹਹਰਿਜਸੁਗਾਵਹਿਨਾਦਕਵਿਤ॥
ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਜ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ (ਹੀ) ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
there they sing the Praises of the Lord, in music and poetry.
ਸਾਧਸਭਾਮਹਿਅਨਦਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
In the Society of the Saints, there is bliss and peace.
ਉਨਸੰਗੁਸੋਪਾਏਜਿਸੁਮਸਤਕਿਕਰਾਮ॥੩॥
ਪਰ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ (ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੩॥
They alone obtain this Society, upon whose foreheads such destiny is written. ||3||
ਦੁਇਕਰਜੋੜਿਕਰੀਅਰਦਾਸਿ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
With my palms pressed together, I offer my prayer.
ਚਰਨਪਖਾਰਿਕਹਾਂਗੁਣਤਾਸ॥
ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
I wash their feet, and chant the Praises of the Lord, the treasure of virtue.
ਪ੍ਰਭਦਇਆਲਕਿਰਪਾਲਹਜੂਰਿ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)
O God, merciful and compassionate, let me remain in Your Presence.
ਨਾਨਕੁਜੀਵੈਸੰਤਾਧੂਰਿ॥੪॥੨॥੨੩॥
