The horses neigh and the trumpets resound.

(ਇਕ ਪਾਸਿਓਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ) ਤੜ ਤੜ (ਕਰਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ) ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਝਲੈਝੜਾਕ॥੨੨॥
(ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸਿਓਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੨॥
The warriors strike their weapons enthusiastically and also endure the blows.22.

(ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਲੜ ਕੇ (ਵੀਰ-ਗਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਚੁਕੇ)

ਮਹਾਨ ਯੋਧੇ ਮਲੰਗਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਲੇਟ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
The warriors falling as martyrs appear like the carefree intoxicated persons lying down of the ground.

(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਾਲ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ ਹਨ

ਮਾਨੋ (ਉਹ) ਜੱਟਾਧਾਰੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਹੋਣ ॥੨੩॥
Their disheveled hair appear like the matted hair (of hermits).23.

ਮਹਾਨ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ

ਅਤੇ ਵਡੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਗਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

The huge elephants are decorated and the warrior-chiefs descending from them and holding their bows, thunder in the field.24.

ਕੁਪਿਯੋਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੰਸਜਿਮਰਾਲੰਬਾਹਬਿਸਾਲਧਰਿਢਾਲੰ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਚੰਦ ਨੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਜਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਢਾਲ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੀ।
Kirpal Chand, in great ire, decorated his horse and he, the lond-armed warrior held his shield.
ਧਾਏਸਭਸੂਰੰਰੂਪਕਰੂਰੰਮਚਕਤਨੂਰੰਮੁਖਿਲਾਲੰ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਅਗੇ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਲ ਮੂੰਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਨੂਰ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Holding their swords and decorated with bow and arrows, the youthful warriors, full of heat
ਰਣਿਰੰਗਕਲੋਲੰਮਾਰਹੀਬੋਲੈਜਨੁਗਜਡੋਲੰਬਨਿਮਤੰ॥੨੫॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਲੋਲ (ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਮਾਰੋ-ਮਾਰੋ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਨੋ ਮਸਤ ਹਾਥੀ ਬਨ ਵਿਚ ਡੋਲਦੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੨੫॥
Are engaged in frolics in the battlefield and shouting “kill, kill” appear like intoxicated elephants in the forst.25.

ਤਬੈਕੋਪੀਯੰਕਾਂਗੜੇਸੰਕਟੋਚੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਕਾਂਗੜੇ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ (ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਚੰਦ) ਕਟੋਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਮੁਖੰਰਕਤਨੈਨੰਤਜੇਸਰਬਸੋਚੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮੂੰਹ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
Then the Raja of Kangra (Kirpal Chand Katoch) was filled with anger. His face and eyes became red with rage and he freed himself from all other thoughts.

ਮਾਨੋ ਮਾਸ ਲਈ ਚਿਤਰੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੨੬॥
From another side, the Khans entered with arrows in their hands. It seemed that the leopards were roaming in search of flesh.26.
ਬਜੀਭੇਰਭੁੰਕਾਰਤੀਰੰਤੜਕੇ॥
ਭੇਰੀਆਂ ਭੂੰ ਭੂੰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੀਰ ਤੜ ਤੜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਿਲੇਹਥਿਬੰਥੰਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰਕੜਕੇ॥
(ਕਈ ਸੂਰਮੇ) ਗੁੱਥਮ-ਗੁੱਥਾ ਹਨ (ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ) ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਕੜਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The kettledrums, the arrows and swords in action create their particular sounds, the hands move towards the wounded waist.
ਬਜੇਜੰਗਨੀਸਾਣਕਥੇਕਥੀਰੰ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਜੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਧੌਂਸੇ ਵਜਦੇ ਹਨ (ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ) ਢਾਢੀ ਵਾਰਾਂ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਫਿਰੈਰੁੰਡਮੁਡੰਤਨੰਤਛਤੀਰੰ॥੨੭॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਧੜ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੱਛੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੭॥
The trumpets resound in the field and the minstrels sing their heroic ballads, the bodies are pierced by arrows and the headless trunks are moving in the field. 27
ਉਠੈਟੋਪਟੂਕੰਗੁਰਜੈਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਟੋਪਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਟਕ-ਟਕ (ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼) ਉਠਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਰੁਲੇਲੁਥਜੁਥੰਗਿਰੇਬੀਰਮਾਰੇ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਲੋਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ਰੁਲਦੇ ਹਨ (ਅਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ) ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਯੁੱਧ-ਵੀਰ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
The blows of maces on helmets create knocking sounds, the bodies of killed warriors are rolling in dust.
ਪਰੈਕਤੀਯੰਘਾਤਨਿਰਘਾਤਬੀਰੰ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਪਤਲੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੂਰਵੀਰਾਂ (ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮ ਲਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ)।
The swords are inflicting wounds on the bodies of heroes
ਫਿਰੈਰੁਡਮੁੰਡੰਤਨੰਤਨਤੀਰੰ॥੨੮॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਧੜ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਛੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੮॥
The bodies pierced by arrows and headless trunks are moving in the field.28.
ਬਹੀਬਾਹੁਆਘਾਤਨਿਰਘਾਤਬਾਣੰ॥
ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਝਟਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਤੀਰ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਉਠੇਨਦਨਾਦੰਕੜਕੇਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਣੰ॥
ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ (ਦੇ ਚਲਣ ਨਾਲ) ਕੜ ਕੜ ਦੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਨਾਦ ਉਠ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The arms are engaged in continuously shooting arrows, the striking swords are creating grave clatrtering sounds.
ਛਕੇਛੋਭਛਤ੍ਰਤਜੈਬਾਣਰਾਜੀ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੜੀਆਂ ਛਡ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
The warriors, in great fury, are showering volleys of arrows
ਬਹੇਜਾਹਿਖਾਲੀਫਿਰੈਛੂਛਤਾਜੀ॥੨੯॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਤੀਰ) ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘੋੜੇ (ਸਵਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਖਣੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੯॥
Some arrows miss the targets and on account of some arrows, the horses are seen roaming without the riders.29.
ਜੁਟੇਆਪਮੈਬੀਰਬੀਰੰਜੁਝਾਰੇ॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੁੱਥਮ ਗੁੱਥਾ ਹਨ,
ਮਨੋਗਜਜੁਟੈਦੰਤਾਰੇਦੰਤਾਰੇ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਵਡੇ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਲਝੇ ਹੋਣ।
The brave warriors fighting with each other appear like the elephants with tusks fighting mutually,
ਕਿਧੋਸਿੰਘਸੋਸਾਰਦੂਲੰਅਰੁਝੇ॥
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਭਿੜਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਤਿਸੀਭਾਂਤਿਕਿਰਪਾਲਗੋਪਾਲਜੁਝੇ॥੩੦॥
ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਚੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਚੰਦ (ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ) ਜੂਝ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੩੦॥
Or the tiger confronting the tiger. In a similar manner, Gopal Chand Guleria is fighting with Kirpal Chand (the ally of Hussaini).30.
ਹਰੀਸਿੰਘਧਾਯੋਤਹਾਏਕਬੀਰੰ॥
ਤਦੋਂ (ਹੁਸੈਨੀ ਦਲ ਦਾ) ਹਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਯੋਧਾ ਧਾਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ।
ਸਹੇਦੇਹਆਪੰਭਲੀਭਾਂਤਿਤੀਰੰ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ (ਬੌਛਾੜ) ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਹੀ।
Then another warrior Hari Singh rushed into the field he received many arrows in his body.
