ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਮਿਲੈਮਨੁਮਾਨਿਆ॥੪॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਦਾ ਲਈ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ) ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
O Nanak, obtains the Naam; his mind is pleased and appeased. ||4||1||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Dhanaasaree, Third Mahalaa:
ਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਨੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਅਤਿਅਪਾਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ।
The wealth of the Lord's Name is immaculate, and absolutely infinite.
ਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਭਰੇਭੰਡਾਰਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is over-flowing with treasure.
ਨਾਮਧਨਬਿਨੁਹੋਰਸਭਬਿਖੁਜਾਣੁ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਨ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਸਮਝ (ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Know that, except for the wealth of the Name, all other wealth is poison.
ਮਾਇਆਮੋਹਿਜਲੈਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ॥੧॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਨ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The egotistical people are burning in their attachment to Maya. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹਰਿਰਸੁਚਾਖੈਕੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
How rare is that Gurmukh who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord.
ਤਿਸੁਸਦਾਅਨੰਦੁਹੋਵੈਦਿਨੁਰਾਤੀਪੂਰੈਭਾਗਿਪਰਾਪਤਿਹੋਇ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ) ਪੂਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
He is always in bliss, day and night; through perfect good destiny, he obtains the Name. ||Pause||
ਸਬਦੁਦੀਪਕੁਵਰਤੈਤਿਹੁਲੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਦੀਵਾ (ਹੈ, ਜੋ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Word of the Shabad is a lamp, illuminating the three worlds.
ਜੋਚਾਖੈਸੋਨਿਰਮਲੁਹੋਇ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who tastes it, becomes immaculate.
ਨਿਰਮਲਨਾਮਿਹਉਮੈਮਲੁਧੋਇ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, washes off the filth of ego.
ਸਾਚੀਭਗਤਿਸਦਾਸੁਖੁਹੋਇ॥੨॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
True devotional worship brings lasting peace. ||2||
ਜਿਨਿਹਰਿਰਸੁਚਾਖਿਆਸੋਹਰਿਜਨੁਲੋਗੁ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਚੱਖ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।
One who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord is the Lord's humble servant.
ਤਿਸੁਸਦਾਹਰਖੁਨਾਹੀਕਦੇਸੋਗੁ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ।
He is forever happy; he is never sad.
ਆਪਿਮੁਕਤੁਅਵਰਾਮੁਕਤੁਕਰਾਵੈ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He himself is liberated, and he liberates others as well.
ਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਜਪੈਹਰਿਤੇਸੁਖੁਪਾਵੈ॥੩॥
ਉਹ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
He chants the Lord's Name, and through the Lord, he finds peace. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਸਭਮੁਈਬਿਲਲਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Without the True Guru, everyone dies, crying out in pain.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਦਾਝਹਿਸਾਤਿਨਪਾਇ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
Night and day, they burn, and find no peace.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਮਿਲੈਸਭੁਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਬੁਝਾਏ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
But meeting the True Guru, all thirst is quenched.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਿਸਾਂਤਿਸੁਖੁਪਾਏ॥੪॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, one finds peace and tranquility. ||4||2||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Dhanaasaree, Third Mahalaa:
ਸਦਾਧਨੁਅੰਤਰਿਨਾਮੁਸਮਾਲੇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ। ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਐਸਾ) ਧਨ (ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਸਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਬਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Gather in and cherish forever the wealth of the Lord's Name, deep within;
ਜੀਅਜੰਤਜਿਨਹਿਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ॥
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ (ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ) ਲਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
He cherishes and nurtures all beings and creatures.
ਮੁਕਤਿਪਦਾਰਥੁਤਿਨਕਉਪਾਏ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
They alone obtain the treasure of Liberation,
ਹਰਿਕੈਨਾਮਿਰਤੇਲਿਵਲਾਏ॥੧॥
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ (-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
who are lovingly imbued with, and focused on the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਗੁਰਸੇਵਾਤੇਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਨੁਪਾਵੈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Serving the Guru, one obtains the wealth of the Lord's Name.
ਅੰਤਰਿਪਰਗਾਸੁਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਵੈ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
He is illumined and enlightened within, and he meditates on the Lord's Name. ||Pause||
ਇਹੁਹਰਿਰੰਗੁਗੂੜਾਧਨਪਿਰਹੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ) ਦਾ ਇਹ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ,
This love for the Lord is like the love of the bride for her husband.
ਸਾਂਤਿਸੀਗਾਰੁਰਾਵੇਪ੍ਰਭੁਸੋਇ॥
ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਗਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
God ravishes and enjoys the soul-bride who is adorned with peace and tranquility.
ਹਉਮੈਵਿਚਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਕੋਇਨਪਾਏ॥
ਪਰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
No one finds God through egotism.
ਮੂਲਹੁਭੁਲਾਜਨਮੁਗਵਾਏ॥੨॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿੰਦ-ਦਾਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Wandering away from the Primal Lord, the root of all, one wastes his life in vain. ||2||
ਗੁਰਤੇਸਾਤਿਸਹਜਸੁਖੁਬਾਣੀ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਮਿਲੀ) ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
Tranquility, celestial peace, pleasure and the Word of His Bani come from the Guru.
ਸੇਵਾਸਾਚੀਨਾਮਿਸਮਾਣੀ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
True is that service, which leads one to merge in the Naam.
ਸਬਦਿਮਿਲੈਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁਸਦਾਧਿਆਏ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Blessed with the Word of the Shabad, he meditates forever on the Lord, the Beloved.
ਸਾਚਨਾਮਿਵਡਿਆਈਪਾਏ॥੩॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Through the True Name, glorious greatness is obtained. ||3||
ਆਪੇਕਰਤਾਜੁਗਿਜੁਗਿਸੋਇ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮੌਜੂਦ ਚਲਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ।
The Creator Himself abides throughout the ages.
ਨਦਰਿਕਰੇਮੇਲਾਵਾਹੋਇ॥
ਉਹ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ) ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
If He casts His Glance of Grace, then we meet Him.
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀਤੇਹਰਿਮੰਨਿਵਸਾਏ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of Gurbani, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.
ਨਾਨਕਸਾਚਿਰਤੇਪ੍ਰਭਿਆਪਿਮਿਲਾਏ॥੪॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥
O Nanak, God unites with Himself those who are imbued with Truth. ||4||3||
ਧਨਾਸਰੀਮਹਲਾ੩ਤੀਜਾ॥

ਜਗੁਮੈਲਾਮੈਲੋਹੋਇਜਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਮੈਲੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੀਕ ਮੈਲੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The world is polluted, and those in the world become polluted as well.
ਆਵੈਜਾਇਦੂਜੈਲੋਭਾਇ॥
ਤੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In attachment to duality, it comes and goes.
ਦੂਜੈਭਾਇਸਭਪਰਜਵਿਗੋਈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
This love of duality has ruined the entire world.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿਚੋਟਾਖਾਇਅਪੁਨੀਪਤਿਖੋਈ॥੧॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The self-willed manmukh suffers punishment, and forfeits his honor. ||1||
ਗੁਰਸੇਵਾਤੇਜਨੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਹੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ) ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Serving the Guru, one becomes immaculate.
ਅੰਤਰਿਨਾਮੁਵਸੈਪਤਿਊਤਮਹੋਇ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
He enshrines the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within, and his state becomes exalted. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਉਬਰੇਹਰਿਸਰਣਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Gurmukhs are saved, taking to the Lord's Sanctuary.
ਰਾਮਨਾਮਿਰਾਤੇਭਗਤਿਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਈ॥
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕੀ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
Attuned to the Lord's Name, they commit themselves to devotional worship.
ਭਗਤਿਕਰੇਜਨੁਵਡਿਆਈਪਾਏ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord's humble servant performs devotional worship, and is blessed with greatness.
ਸਾਚਿਰਤੇਸੁਖਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਏ॥੨॥
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਹੁਲਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
Attuned to Truth, he is absorbed in celestial peace. ||2||
ਸਾਚੇਕਾਗਾਹਕੁਵਿਰਲਾਕੋਜਾਣੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਫਿਰ ਭੀ,) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਮਝੋ।
Know that one who purchases the True Name is very rare.
ਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਆਪੁਪਛਾਣੁ॥
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he comes to understand himself.
ਸਾਚੀਰਾਸਿਸਾਚਾਵਾਪਾਰੁ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਬਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
True is his capital, and true is his trade.
ਸੋਧੰਨੁਪੁਰਖੁਜਿਸੁਨਾਮਿਪਿਆਰੁ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Blessed is that person, who loves the Naam. ||3||
ਤਿਨਿਪ੍ਰਭਿਸਾਚੈਇਕਿਸਚਿਲਾਏ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਈ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ) ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
God, the True Lord, has attached some to His True Name.
ਊਤਮਬਾਣੀਸਬਦੁਸੁਣਾਏ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They listen to the most sublime Word of His Bani, and the Word of His Shabad.
