ਅਪਨੇਗੁਰਊਪਰਿਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
I am a sacrifice to my Guru.
ਭਏਕਿਰਪਾਲਪੂਰਨਪ੍ਰਭਦਾਤੇਜੀਅਹੋਏਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ (ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਰਹਾਉ॥
God, the Great Giver, the Perfect One, has become merciful to me, and now, all are kind to me. ||Pause||
ਨਾਨਕਜਨਸਰਨਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹੋ,
Servant Nanak has entered His Sanctuary.
ਜਿਨਿਪੂਰਨਪੈਜਰਖਾਈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ,
He has perfectly preserved his honor.
ਸਗਲੇਦੂਖਮਿਟਾਈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
All suffering has been dispelled.
ਸੁਖੁਭੁੰਚਹੁਮੇਰੇਭਾਈ॥੨॥੨੮॥੯੨॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! (ਤੁਸੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋ ॥੨॥੨੮॥੯੨॥
So enjoy peace, O my Siblings of Destiny! ||2||28||92||
ਸੋਰਠਿਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Sorat'h, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਸੁਨਹੁਬਿਨੰਤੀਠਾਕੁਰਮੇਰੇਜੀਅਜੰਤਤੇਰੇਧਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਤੇ ਕਰਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੀ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ। ਸਾਰੇ ਨਿੱਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਆਸਰੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ 'ਸ਼ਰਨ-ਜੋਗ'।
Hear my prayer, O my Lord and Master; all beings and creatures were created by You.
ਰਾਖੁਪੈਜਨਾਮਅਪੁਨੇਕੀਕਰਨਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰੇ॥੧॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਆਸਰੇ ਹਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ (ਇਸ) ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖ (ਤੇ, ਸਾਡੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ) ॥੧॥
You preserve the honor of Your Name, O Lord, Cause of causes. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭਜੀਉਖਸਮਾਨਾਕਰਿਪਿਆਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ) ਖਸਮ ਵਾਲਾ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ।
O Dear God, Beloved, please, make me Your own.
ਬੁਰੇਭਲੇਹਮਥਾਰੇ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਚਾਹੇ ਅਸੀ) ਭੈੜੇ ਹਾਂ (ਚਾਹੇ ਅਸੀ) ਚੰਗੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਹਾਂ (ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਦੇ) ਰਹਾਉ॥
Whether good or bad, I am Yours. ||Pause||
ਸੁਣੀਪੁਕਾਰਸਮਰਥਸੁਆਮੀਬੰਧਨਕਾਟਿਸਵਾਰੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ) ਪੁਕਾਰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
The Almighty Lord and Master heard my prayer; cutting away my bonds, He has adorned me.
ਪਹਿਰਿਸਿਰਪਾਉਸੇਵਕਜਨਮੇਲੇਨਾਨਕਪ੍ਰਗਟੁਪਹਾਰੇ॥੨॥੨੯॥੯੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਤੇ, ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਘੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੯॥੯੩॥
He dressed me in robes of honor, and blended His servant with Himself; Nanak is revealed in glory throughout the world. ||2||29||93||
ਸੋਰਠਿਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Sorat'h, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਜੀਅਜੰਤਸਭਿਵਸਿਕਰਿਦੀਨੇਸੇਵਕਸਭਿਦਰਬਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
All beings and creatures are subservient to all those who serve in the Lord's Court.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁਕੀਓਪ੍ਰਭਅਪੁਨੇਭਵਨਿਧਿਪਾਰਿਉਤਾਰੇ॥੧॥
ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Their God made them His own, and carried them across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||
ਸੰਤਨਕੇਕਾਰਜਸਗਲਸਵਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਾਡਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He resolves all the affairs of His Saints.
ਦੀਨਦਇਆਲਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਿਪੂਰਨਖਸਮਹਮਾਰੇ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਾਡਾ ਖਸਮ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਰਹਾਉ॥
He is merciful to the meek, kind and compassionate, the ocean of kindness, my Perfect Lord and Master. ||Pause||
ਆਉਬੈਠੁਆਦਰੁਸਭਥਾਈਊਨਨਕਤਹੂੰਬਾਤਾ॥
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਲੋਕ) ਜੀ-ਆਇਆਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਥੁੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ।
I am asked to come and be seated, everywhere I go, and I lack nothing.
ਭਗਤਿਸਿਰਪਾਉਦੀਓਜਨਅਪੁਨੇਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁਨਾਨਕਪ੍ਰਭਜਾਤਾ॥੨॥੩੦॥੯੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ (ਦਾ) ਸਿਰੋਪਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩੦॥੯੪॥
The Lord blesses His humble devotee with robes of honor; O Nanak, the Glory of God is manifest. ||2||30||94||
ਸੋਰਠਿਮਹਲਾ੯॥
ਰਾਗ ਸੋਰਠਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Sorat'h, Ninth Mahalaa:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਰੇਮਨਰਾਮਸਿਉਕਰਿਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ॥
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾ।
O mind, love the Lord.
ਸ੍ਰਵਨਗੋਬਿੰਦਗੁਨਸੁਨਉਅਰੁਗਾਉਰਸਨਾਗੀਤ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਤਾਮਾ (ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
With your ears, hear the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and with your tongue, sing His song. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਿਮਰਿਮਾਧੋਹੋਹਿਪਤਿਤਪੁਨੀਤ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ। (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and meditate in remembrance on the Lord; even a sinner like yourself will become pure.
ਕਾਲੁਬਿਆਲਜਿਉਪਰਿਓਡੋਲੈਮੁਖੁਪਸਾਰੇਮੀਤ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! (ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਆਲਸ ਨਾਹ ਕਰ, ਵੇਖ) ਮੌਤ ਸੱਪ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੂੰਹ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਈ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Death is on the prowl, with its mouth wide open, friend. ||1||
ਆਜੁਕਾਲਿਫੁਨਿਤੋਹਿਗ੍ਰਸਿਹੈਸਮਝਿਰਾਖਹੁਚੀਤਿ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਝ ਰੱਖ ਕਿ (ਇਹ ਮੌਤ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਹੜੱਪ ਕਰ ਲਏਗੀ।
Today or tomorrow, eventually it will seize you; understand this in your consciousness.
ਕਹੈਨਾਨਕੁਰਾਮੁਭਜਿਲੈਜਾਤੁਅਉਸਰੁਬੀਤ॥੨॥੧॥
ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਹੁਣ ਅਜੇ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ ਲੈ, ਇਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥
Says Nanak, meditate, and vibrate upon the Lord; this opportunity is slipping away! ||2||1||
ਸੋਰਠਿਮਹਲਾ੯॥
Sorat'h, Ninth Mahalaa:
ਮਨਕੀਮਨਹੀਮਾਹਿਰਹੀ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੇਖੋ, ਮਾਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਤਾ! ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ।
The mind remains in the mind.
ਨਾਹਰਿਭਜੇਨਤੀਰਥਸੇਵੇਚੋਟੀਕਾਲਿਗਹੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਤੇ, ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਬੋਦੀ ਆ ਫੜੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He does not meditate on the Lord, nor does he perform service at sacred shrines, and so death seizes him by the hair. ||1||Pause||
ਦਾਰਾਮੀਤਪੂਤਰਥਸੰਪਤਿਧਨਪੂਰਨਸਭਮਹੀ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਗੱਡੀਆਂ, ਮਾਲ-ਅਸਬਾਬ, ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਧਰਤੀ-
Wife, friends, children, carriages, property, total wealth, the entire world
ਅਵਰਸਗਲਮਿਥਿਆਏਜਾਨਹੁਭਜਨੁਰਾਮਕੋਸਹੀ॥੧॥
ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਮਝੋ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ (ਹੀ) ਅਸਲ (ਸਾਥੀ) ਹੈ ॥੧॥
- know that all of these things are false. The Lord's meditation alone is true. ||1||
ਫਿਰਤਫਿਰਤਬਹੁਤੇਜੁਗਹਾਰਿਓਮਾਨਸਦੇਹਲਹੀ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਈ ਜੁਗ (ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਥੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। (ਹੁਣ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ।
Wandering, wandering around for so many ages, he has grown weary, and finally, he obtained this human body.
ਨਾਨਕੁਕਹਤੁਮਿਲਨਕੀਬਰੀਆਸਿਮਰਤਕਹਾਨਹੀ॥੨॥੨॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਇਹੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ? ॥੨॥੨॥
Says Nanak, this is the opportunity to meet the Lord; why don't you remember Him in meditation? ||2||2||
ਸੋਰਠਿਮਹਲਾ੯॥
Sorat'h, Ninth Mahalaa:
ਮਨਰੇਕਉਨਕੁਮਤਿਤੈਲੀਨੀ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਹੈ?
O mind, what evil-mindedness have you developed?
ਪਰਦਾਰਾਨਿੰਦਿਆਰਸਿਰਚਿਓਰਾਮਭਗਤਿਨਹੀਕੀਨੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤੂੰ ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੂੰ (ਕਦੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
You are engrossed in the pleasures of other men's wives, and slander; you have not worshipped the Lord at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮੁਕਤਿਪੰਥੁਜਾਨਿਓਤੈਨਾਹਿਨਧਨੁਜੋਰਨਕਉਧਾਇਆ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ (ਅਜੇ ਤਕ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ, ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਦੌੜ-ਭਜ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
You do not know the way to liberation, but you run all around chasing wealth.
