ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
ਰਾਗ ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਅਪੁਨੇਸਤਿਗੁਰਪਹਿਬਿਨਉਕਹਿਆ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ,
I offer my prayer to my True Guru.
ਭਏਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਦਇਆਲਦੁਖਭੰਜਨਮੇਰਾਸਗਲਅੰਦੇਸਰਾਗਇਆ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਏ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਰਹਾਉ॥
The Destroyer of distress has become kind and merciful, and all my anxiety is over. ||Pause||
ਹਮਪਾਪੀਪਾਖੰਡੀਲੋਭੀਹਮਰਾਗੁਨੁਅਵਗੁਨੁਸਭੁਸਹਿਆ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਪਖੰਡੀ ਹਾਂ, ਲੋਭੀ ਹਾਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਤਨਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ) ਸਾਡਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਗੁਣ ਔਗੁਣ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
I am a sinner, hypocritical and greedy, but still, He puts up with all of my merits and demerits.
ਕਰੁਮਸਤਕਿਧਾਰਿਸਾਜਿਨਿਵਾਜੇਮੁਏਦੁਸਟਜੋਖਇਆ॥੧॥
ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਵਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਵੈਰੀ, ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Placing His hand on my forehead, He has exalted me. The wicked ones who wanted to destroy me have been killed. ||1||
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀਸਰਬਸਧਾਰੀਸਫਲਦਰਸਨਸਹਜਇਆ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਪਰ-ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
He is generous and benevolent, the beautifier of all, the embodiment of peace; the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is so fruitful!
ਕਹੁਨਾਨਕਨਿਰਗੁਣਕਉਦਾਤਾਚਰਣਕਮਲਉਰਧਰਿਆ॥੨॥੨੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਆਖ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੨੪॥
Says Nanak, He is the Giver to the unworthy; I enshrine His Lotus Feet within my heart. ||2||24||
ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਅਨਾਥਨਾਥਪ੍ਰਭਹਮਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ ਸਾਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
My God is the Master of the masterless.
ਸਰਨਿਆਇਓਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰੱਖਣ ਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਰਹਾਉ॥
I have come to the Sanctuary of the Savior Lord. ||Pause||
ਸਰਬਪਾਖਰਾਖੁਮੁਰਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ! ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ!
Protect me on all sides, O Lord;
ਆਗੈਪਾਛੈਅੰਤੀਵਾਰੇ॥੧॥
ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਵੇਲੇ ॥੧॥
protect me in the future, in the past, and at the very last moment. ||1||
ਜਬਚਿਤਵਉਤਬਤੁਹਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੀ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Whenever something comes to mind, it is You.
ਉਨਸਮੑਾਰਿਮੇਰਾਮਨੁਸਧਾਰੇ॥੨॥
(ਤੇਰੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਧੀਰਜ ਫੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Contemplating Your virtues, my mind is sanctified. ||2||
ਸੁਨਿਗਾਵਉਗੁਰਬਚਨਾਰੇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ) ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I hear and sing the Hymns of the Guru's Word.
ਬਲਿਬਲਿਜਾਉਸਾਧਦਰਸਾਰੇ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Holy. ||3||
ਮਨਮਹਿਰਾਖਉਏਕਅਸਾਰੇ॥
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Within my mind, I have the Support of the One Lord alone.
ਨਾਨਕਪ੍ਰਭਮੇਰੇਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੇ॥੪॥੨੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੫॥
O Nanak, my God is the Creator of all. ||4||25||
ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਪ੍ਰਭਇਹੈਮਨੋਰਥੁਮੇਰਾ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਇਹੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ,
God, this is my heart's desire:
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਾਨਦਇਆਲਮੋਹਿਦੀਜੈਕਰਿਸੰਤਨਕਾਚੇਰਾ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹ ਜੁ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਾਂ। ਰਹਾਉ॥
O treasure of kindness, O Merciful Lord, please make me the slave of your Saints. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਾਤਹਕਾਲਲਾਗਉਜਨਚਰਨੀਨਿਸਬਾਸੁਰਦਰਸੁਪਾਵਉ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਵੇਰੇ (ਉੱਠ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਾਂ, ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
In the early hours of the morning, I fall at the feet of Your humble servants; night and day, I obtain the Blessed Vision of their Darshan.
ਤਨੁਮਨੁਅਰਪਿਕਰਉਜਨਸੇਵਾਰਸਨਾਹਰਿਗੁਨਗਾਵਉ॥੧॥
ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਹਰੀ-ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
Dedicating my body and mind, I serve the humble servant of the Lord; with my tongue, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਸਾਸਿਸਾਸਿਸਿਮਰਉਪ੍ਰਭੁਅਪੁਨਾਸੰਤਸੰਗਿਨਿਤਰਹੀਐ॥
ਮੈਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਾਂ।
With each and every breath, I meditate in remembrance on my God; I live continually in the Society of the Saints.
ਏਕੁਅਧਾਰੁਨਾਮੁਧਨੁਮੋਰਾਅਨਦੁਨਾਨਕਇਹੁਲਹੀਐ॥੨॥੨੬॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ਤੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਆਨੰਦ (ਸਦਾ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਰਹੇ ॥੨॥੨੬॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is my only support and wealth; O Nanak, from this, I obtain bliss. ||2||26||
ਰਾਗੁਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫ਘਰੁ੩॥
ਰਾਗ ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ, ਘਰ ੩ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Raag Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mahalaa, Third House:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮੀਤਾਐਸੇਹਰਿਜੀਉਪਾਏ॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਲੱਭ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
O friend, such is the Dear Lord whom I have obtained.
ਛੋਡਿਨਜਾਈਸਦਹੀਸੰਗੇਅਨਦਿਨੁਗੁਰਮਿਲਿਗਾਏ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He does not leave me, and He always keeps me company. Meeting the Guru, night and day, I sing His Praises. ||1||Pause||
ਮਿਲਿਓਮਨੋਹਰੁਸਰਬਸੁਖੈਨਾਤਿਆਗਿਨਕਤਹੂਜਾਏ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ,
I met the Fascinating Lord, who has blessed me with all comforts; He does not leave me to go anywhere else.
ਅਨਿਕਅਨਿਕਭਾਤਿਬਹੁਪੇਖੇਪ੍ਰਿਅਰੋਮਨਸਮਸਰਿਲਾਏ॥੧॥
ਹੋਰ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵਿਅਕਤੀ) ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਵਾਲ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
I have seen the mortals of many and various types, but they are not equal to even a hair of my Beloved. ||1||
ਮੰਦਰਿਭਾਗੁਸੋਭਦੁਆਰੈਅਨਹਤਰੁਣੁਝੁਣੁਲਾਏ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਧੀਮਾ ਧੀਮਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
His palace is so beautiful! His gate is so wonderful! The celestial melody of the sound current resounds there.
ਕਹੁਨਾਨਕਸਦਾਰੰਗੁਮਾਣੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਪ੍ਰਿਅਥੀਤੇਸਦਥਾਏ॥੨॥੧॥੨੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਆ ਟਿਕਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੭॥
Says Nanak, I enjoy eternal bliss; I have obtained a permanent place in the home of my Beloved. ||2||1||27||
ਦੇਵਗੰਧਾਰੀ੫॥
Dayv-Gandhaaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਦਰਸਨਨਾਮਕਉਮਨੁਆਛੈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਹੈ।
My mind longs for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, and His Name.
ਭ੍ਰਮਿਆਇਓਹੈਸਗਲਥਾਨਰੇਆਹਿਪਰਿਓਸੰਤਪਾਛੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਹੋ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
I have wandered everywhere, and now I have come to follow the Saint. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਸੁਹਉਸੇਵੀਕਿਸੁਆਰਾਧੀਜੋਦਿਸਟੈਸੋਗਾਛੈ॥
(ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਾਂ?
Whom should I serve? Whom should I worship in adoration? Whoever I see shall pass away.
