ਸਤਿਗੁਰਵਾਕਿਹਿਰਦੈਹਰਿਨਿਰਮਲੁਨਾਜਮਕਾਣਿਨਜਮਕੀਬਾਕੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਬਾਕੀ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪੈ ਸਕੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
One whose heart is filled with the Hymns of the True Guru, obtains the Pure Lord. He is not under the power of the Messenger of Death, nor does he owe Death anything. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿਗੁਣਰਸਨਰਵਹਿਪ੍ਰਭਸੰਗੇਜੋਤਿਸੁਭਾਵੈਸਹਜਿਹਰੀ॥
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਇਹੀ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਸੁਤੇ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੋ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord with his tongue, and abides with God; he does whatever pleases the Lord.
ਬਿਨੁਹਰਿਨਾਮਬ੍ਰਿਥਾਜਗਿਜੀਵਨੁਹਰਿਬਿਨੁਨਿਹਫਲਮੇਕਘਰੀ॥੨॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਊਣਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਭੀ ਘੜੀ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਜਾਪਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Without the Lord's Name, life passes in vain in the world, and every moment is useless. ||2||
ਐਜੀਖੋਟੇਠਉਰਨਾਹੀਘਰਿਬਾਹਰਿਨਿੰਦਕਗਤਿਨਹੀਕਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖੋਟ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
The false have no place of rest, either inside or outside; the slanderer does not find salvation.
ਰੋਸੁਕਰੈਪ੍ਰਭੁਬਖਸਨਮੇਟੈਨਿਤਨਿਤਚੜੈਸਵਾਈ॥੩॥
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ (ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਖਿੱਝੇ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਬੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਗੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਧਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Even if one is resentful, God does not withhold His blessings; day by day, they increase. ||3||
ਐਜੀਗੁਰਕੀਦਾਤਿਨਮੇਟੈਕੋਈਮੇਰੈਠਾਕੁਰਿਆਪਿਦਿਵਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ; ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਾਤ ਦਿਵਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
No one can take away the Guru's gifts; my Lord and Master Himself has given them.
ਨਿੰਦਕਨਰਕਾਲੇਮੁਖਨਿੰਦਾਜਿਨੑਗੁਰਕੀਦਾਤਿਨਭਾਈ॥੪॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਾਲੇ (ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੪॥
The black-faced slanderers, with slander in their mouths, do not appreciate the Guru's gifts. ||4||
ਐਜੀਸਰਣਿਪਰੇਪ੍ਰਭੁਬਖਸਿਮਿਲਾਵੈਬਿਲਮਨਅਧੂਆਰਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਢਿੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
God forgives and blends with Himself those who take to His Sanctuary; He does not delay for an instant.
ਆਨਦਮੂਲੁਨਾਥੁਸਿਰਿਨਾਥਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਮੇਲਿਮਿਲਾਈ॥੫॥
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਨਾਥ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
He is the source of bliss, the Greatest Lord; through the True Guru, we are united in His Union. ||5||
ਐਜੀਸਦਾਦਇਆਲੁਦਇਆਕਰਿਰਵਿਆਗੁਰਮਤਿਭ੍ਰਮਨਿਚੁਕਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through His Kindness, the Kind Lord pervades us; through Guru's Teachings, our wanderings cease.
ਪਾਰਸੁਭੇਟਿਕੰਚਨੁਧਾਤੁਹੋਈਸਤਿਸੰਗਤਿਕੀਵਡਿਆਈ॥੬॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਲੋਹਾ ਆਦਿਕ) ਧਾਤ ਪਾਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਹ ਕੇ ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
Touching the philosopher's stone, metal is transformed into gold. Such is the glorious greatness of the Society of the Saints. ||6||
ਹਰਿਜਲੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਮਨੁਇਸਨਾਨੀਮਜਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਭਾਈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜਲ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁਖ (ਇਸ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਇਸ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ) ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord is the immaculate water; the mind is the bather, and the True Guru is the bath attendant, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਪੁਨਰਪਿਜਨਮੁਨਾਹੀਜਨਸੰਗਤਿਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲਾਈ॥੭॥
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
That humble being who joins the Sat Sangat shall not be consigned to reincarnation again; his light merges into the Light. ||7||
ਤੂੰਵਡਪੁਰਖੁਅਗੰਮਤਰੋਵਰੁਹਮਪੰਖੀਤੁਝਮਾਹੀ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੰਛੀ ਹਾਂ।
You are the Great Primal Lord, the infinite tree of life; I am a bird perched on Your branches.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਨਿਰੰਜਨਦੀਜੈਜੁਗਿਜੁਗਿਸਬਦਿਸਲਾਹੀ॥੮॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੮॥੪॥
Grant to Nanak the Immaculate Naam; throughout the ages, he sings the Praises of the Shabad. ||8||4||
ਗੂਜਰੀਮਹਲਾ੧ਘਰੁ੪॥
ਰਾਗ ਗੂਜਰੀ ਘਰ ੪ ਵਿੱਚ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Goojaree, First Mahalaa, Fourth House:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਭਗਤਿਪ੍ਰੇਮਆਰਾਧਿਤੰਸਚੁਪਿਆਸਪਰਮਹਿਤੰ॥
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਆਰਾਧਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਤੀਬਰ ਖਿੱਚ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
The devotees worship the Lord in loving adoration. They thirst for the True Lord, with infinite affection.
ਬਿਲਲਾਪਬਿਲਲਬਿਨੰਤੀਆਸੁਖਭਾਇਚਿਤਹਿਤੰ॥੧॥
ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ) ਹਾੜੇ-ਤਰਲੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਬੇਨਤੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
They tearfully beg and implore the Lord; in love and affection, their consciousness is at peace. ||1||
ਜਪਿਮਨਨਾਮੁਹਰਿਸਰਣੀ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਫੜ!
Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O my mind, and take to His Sanctuary.
ਸੰਸਾਰਸਾਗਰਤਾਰਿਤਾਰਣਰਮਨਾਮਕਰਿਕਰਣੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਬਣਾ! ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The Lord's Name is the boat to cross over the world-ocean. Practice such a way of life. ||1||Pause||
ਏਮਨਮਿਰਤਸੁਭਚਿੰਤੰਗੁਰਸਬਦਿਹਰਿਰਮਣੰ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, ਤੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋ), ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੌਤ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੈ।
O mind, even death wishes you well, when you remember the Lord through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਮਤਿਤਤੁਗਿਆਨੰਕਲਿਆਣਨਿਧਾਨੰਹਰਿਨਾਮਮਨਿਰਮਣੰ॥੨॥
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਜਗਤ-ਮੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
The intellect receives the treasure, the knowledge of reality and supreme bliss, by repeating the Lord's Name in the mind. ||2||
ਚਲਚਿਤਵਿਤਭ੍ਰਮਾਭ੍ਰਮੰਜਗੁਮੋਹਮਗਨਹਿਤੰ॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਧਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਚਲ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ) ਜਗਤ (ਇਸ ਧਨ ਦੇ) ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The fickle consciousness wanders around chasing after wealth; it is intoxicated with worldly love and emotional attachment.
ਥਿਰੁਨਾਮੁਭਗਤਿਦਿੜੰਮਤੀਗੁਰਵਾਕਿਸਬਦਰਤੰ॥੩॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਸਮਝ ਵਿਚ (ਇਹ ਨਿਸਚਾ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
Devotion to the Naam is permanently implanted within the mind, when it is attuned to the Guru's Teachings and His Shabad. ||3||
ਭਰਮਾਤਿਭਰਮੁਨਚੂਕਈਜਗੁਜਨਮਿਬਿਆਧਿਖਪੰ॥
ਜਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
Wandering around, doubt is not dispelled; afflicted by reincarnation, the world is being ruined.
ਅਸਥਾਨੁਹਰਿਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੰਸਤਿਮਤੀਨਾਮਤਪੰ॥੪॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਹੀ ਐਸਾ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਤਪ ਹੀ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
The Lord's eternal throne is free of this affliction; he is truly wise, who takes the Naam as his deep meditation. ||4||
ਇਹੁਜਗੁਮੋਹਹੇਤਬਿਆਪਿਤੰਦੁਖੁਅਧਿਕਜਨਮਮਰਣੰ॥
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
This world is engrossed in attachment and transitory love; it suffers the terrible pains of birth and death.
ਭਜੁਸਰਣਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਊਬਰਹਿਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਰਿਦਰਮਣੰ॥੫॥
ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ, (ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ) ਤੂੰ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ॥੫॥
Run to the Sanctuary of the True Guru, chant the Lord's Name in your heart, and you shall swim across. ||5||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿਨਿਹਚਲਮਨਿਮਨੁਮਨੰਸਹਜਬੀਚਾਰੰ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਅਡੋਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਟ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਇਕਾਗ੍ਰਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇ)।
Following the Guru's Teaching, the mind becomes stable; the mind accepts it, and reflects upon it in peaceful poise.
ਸੋਮਨੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਜਿਤੁਸਾਚੁਅੰਤਰਿਗਿਆਨਰਤਨੁਸਾਰੰ॥੬॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਏ ਉਹ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਤਨ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
That mind is pure, which enshrines Truth within, and the most excellent jewel of spiritual wisdom. ||6||
ਭੈਭਾਇਭਗਤਿਤਰੁਭਵਜਲੁਮਨਾਚਿਤੁਲਾਇਹਰਿਚਰਣੀ॥
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੁ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੁ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ।
By the Fear of God, and Love of God, and by devotion, man crosses over the terrifying world-ocean, focusing his consciousness on the Lord's Lotus Feet.
