ਧੰਧਾਕਰਤਬਿਹਾਨੀਅਉਧਹਿਗੁਣਨਿਧਿਨਾਮੁਨਗਾਇਓ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਇਸ ਦੀ) ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਪਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
You have spent your life engaged in worldly pursuits; you have not sung the Glorious Praises of the treasure of the Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਕਉਡੀਕਉਡੀਜੋਰਤਕਪਟੇਅਨਿਕਜੁਗਤਿਕਰਿਧਾਇਓ॥
ਠੱਗੀ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਕੌਡੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਢੰਗ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੌੜਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Shell by shell, you accumulate money; in various ways, you work for this.
ਬਿਸਰਤਪ੍ਰਭਕੇਤੇਦੁਖਗਨੀਅਹਿਮਹਾਮੋਹਨੀਖਾਇਓ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਆ ਵਾਪਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Forgetting God, you suffer awful pain beyond measure, and you are consumed by the Great Enticer, Maya. ||1||
ਕਰਹੁਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁਸੁਆਮੀਮੇਰੇਗਨਹੁਨਮੋਹਿਕਮਾਇਓ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ! ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
Show Mercy to me, O my Lord and Master, and do not hold me to account for my actions.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦਦਇਆਲਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਸੁਖਸਾਗਰਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਸਰਣਾਇਓ॥੨॥੧੬॥੨੫॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੀਂ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੨੫॥
O merciful and compassionate Lord God, ocean of peace, Nanak has taken to Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||2||16||25||
ਗੂਜਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Goojaree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਰਸਨਾਰਾਮਰਾਮਰਵੰਤ॥
ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
With your tongue, chant the Lord's Name, Raam, Raam.
ਛੋਡਿਆਨਬਿਉਹਾਰਮਿਥਿਆਭਜੁਸਦਾਭਗਵੰਤ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੋਰ ਝੂਠੇ ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Renounce other false occupations, and vibrate forever on the Lord God. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁਏਕੁਅਧਾਰੁਭਗਤਾਈਤਆਗੈਟੇਕ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ,
The One Name is the support of His devotees; in this world, and in the world hereafter, it is their anchor and support.
ਕਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਗੋਬਿੰਦਦੀਆਗੁਰਗਿਆਨੁਬੁਧਿਬਿਬੇਕ॥੧॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ॥੧॥
In His mercy and kindness, the Guru has given me the divine wisdom of God, and a discriminating intellect. ||1||
ਕਰਣਕਾਰਣਸੰਮ੍ਰਥਸ੍ਰੀਧਰਸਰਣਿਤਾਕੀਗਹੀ॥
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਲਖਮੀ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਹੈ,
The all-powerful Lord is the Creator, the Cause of causes; He is the Master of wealth - I seek His Sanctuary.
ਮੁਕਤਿਜੁਗਤਿਰਵਾਲਸਾਧੂਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਨਿਧਿਲਹੀ॥੨॥੧੭॥੨੬॥
ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਇਕ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ (ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੭॥੨੬॥
Liberation and worldly success come from the dust of the feet of the Holy Saints; Nanak has obtained the Lord's treasure. ||2||17||26||
ਗੂਜਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫ਘਰੁ੪ਚਉਪਦੇ॥
ਰਾਗ ਗੂਜਰੀ, ਘਰ ੪ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਰ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਛਾਡਿਸਗਲਸਿਆਣਪਾਸਾਧਸਰਣੀਆਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ,
Give up all your clever tricks, and seek the Sanctuary of the Holy Saint.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਪਰਮੇਸਰੋਪ੍ਰਭੂਕੇਗੁਣਗਾਉ॥੧॥
(ਤੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ॥੧॥
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord. ||1||
ਰੇਚਿਤਚਰਣਕਮਲਅਰਾਧਿ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
O my consciousness, contemplate and adore the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਸਰਬਸੂਖਕਲਿਆਣਪਾਵਹਿਮਿਟੈਸਗਲਉਪਾਧਿ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ, (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਹਰੇਕ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
You shall obtain total peace and salvation, and all troubles shall depart. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਤਪਿਤਾਸੁਤਮੀਤਭਾਈਤਿਸੁਬਿਨਾਨਹੀਕੋਇ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਭਰਾ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਥੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
Mother, father, children, friends and siblings - without the Lord, none of them are real.
ਈਤਊਤਜੀਅਨਾਲਿਸੰਗੀਸਰਬਰਵਿਆਸੋਇ॥੨॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Here and hereafter, He is the companion of the soul; He is pervading everywhere. ||2||
ਕੋਟਿਜਤਨਉਪਾਵਮਿਥਿਆਕਛੁਨਆਵੈਕਾਮਿ॥
(ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਆਤਮਕ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਵ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, (ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ।
Millions of plans, tricks, and efforts are of no use, and serve no purpose.
ਸਰਣਿਸਾਧੂਨਿਰਮਲਾਗਤਿਹੋਇਪ੍ਰਭਕੈਨਾਮਿ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
In the Sanctuary of the Holy, one becomes immaculate and pure, and obtains salvation, through the Name of God. ||3||
ਅਗਮਦਇਆਲਪ੍ਰਭੂਊਚਾਸਰਣਿਸਾਧੂਜੋਗੁ॥
ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ (ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ) ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ (ਤੇ ਉਪਾਧੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ) ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
God is profound and merciful, lofty and exalted; He gives Sanctuary to the Holy.
ਤਿਸੁਪਰਾਪਤਿਨਾਨਕਾਜਿਸੁਲਿਖਿਆਧੁਰਿਸੰਜੋਗੁ॥੪॥੧॥੨੭॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੭॥
He alone obtains the Lord, O Nanak, who is blessed with such pre-ordained destiny to meet Him. ||4||1||27||
ਗੂਜਰੀਮਹਲਾ੫॥

ਆਪਨਾਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਸਦਹੀਰਮਹੁਗੁਣਗੋਬਿੰਦ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
Serve your Guru forever, and chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਾਸਿਸਾਸਿਅਰਾਧਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਲਹਿਜਾਇਮਨਕੀਚਿੰਦ॥੧॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ ॥੧॥
With each and every breath, worship the Lord, Har, Har, in adoration, and the anxiety of your mind will be dispelled. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇਮਨਜਾਪਿਪ੍ਰਭਕਾਨਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
O my mind, chant the Name of God.
ਸੂਖਸਹਜਅਨੰਦਪਾਵਹਿਮਿਲੀਨਿਰਮਲਥਾਉ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ; ਸੁਖ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ, ਅਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਰੱਖ ਸਕੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
You shall be blessed with peace, poise and pleasure, and you shall find the immaculate place. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਉਧਾਰਿਇਹੁਮਨੁਆਠਪਹਰਆਰਾਧਿ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, redeem your mind, and adore the Lord, twenty-four hours a day.
ਕਾਮੁਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਅਹੰਕਾਰੁਬਿਨਸੈਮਿਟੈਸਗਲਉਪਾਧਿ॥੨॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ; (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੨॥
Sexual desire, anger and egotism will be dispelled, and all troubles shall end. ||2||
ਅਟਲਅਛੇਦਅਭੇਦਸੁਆਮੀਸਰਣਿਤਾਕੀਆਉ॥
ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
The Lord Master is immovable, immortal and inscrutable; seek His Sanctuary.
ਚਰਣਕਮਲਅਰਾਧਿਹਿਰਦੈਏਕਸਿਉਲਿਵਲਾਉ॥੩॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੩॥
Worship in adoration the lotus feet of the Lord in your heart, and center your consciousness lovingly on Him alone. ||3||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿਪ੍ਰਭਿਦਇਆਧਾਰੀਬਖਸਿਲੀਨੑੇਆਪਿ॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਿਆ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਪਾਪ ਖਿਮਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ),
The Supreme Lord God has shown mercy to me, and He Himself has forgiven me.
ਸਰਬਸੁਖਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਦੀਆਨਾਨਕਸੋਪ੍ਰਭੁਜਾਪਿ॥੪॥੨॥੨੮॥
ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੮॥
The Lord has given me His Name, the treasure of peace; O Nanak, meditate on that God. ||4||2||28||

ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀਪ੍ਰਭੁਧਿਆਇਆਗਈਸੰਕਾਤੂਟਿ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਡੱਕੇ-ਡੋਲੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
By Guru's Grace, I meditate on God, and my doubts are gone.
