ਨਾਮੇਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਅਗਨਿਬੁਝੈਨਾਮੁਮਿਲੈਤਿਸੈਰਜਾਈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਬੁੱਝਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Through the Naam, the fire of desire is extinguished; the Naam is obtained by His Will. ||1||Pause||
ਕਲਿਕੀਰਤਿਸਬਦੁਪਛਾਨੁ॥
ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, realize the Word of the Shabad.
ਏਹਾਭਗਤਿਚੂਕੈਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ॥
ਇਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
By this devotional worship, egotism is eliminated.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਐਹੋਵੈਪਰਵਾਨੁ॥
ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Serving the True Guru, one becomes approved.
ਜਿਨਿਆਸਾਕੀਤੀਤਿਸਨੋਜਾਨੁ॥੨॥
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਸਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
So know the One, who created hope and desire. ||2||
ਤਿਸੁਕਿਆਦੀਜੈਜਿਸਬਦੁਸੁਣਾਏ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਭੇਟਾ ਦੇਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
What shall we offer to one who proclaims the Word of the Shabad?
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਨਾਮੁਮੰਨਿਵਸਾਏ॥
ਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਾਡੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ?
By His Grace, the Naam is enshrined within our minds.
ਇਹੁਸਿਰੁਦੀਜੈਆਪੁਗਵਾਏ॥
ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਅਗੇ ਇਹ ਸਿਰ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰਕੇ (ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ।
Offer your head, and shed your self-conceit.
ਹੁਕਮੈਬੂਝੇਸਦਾਸੁਖੁਪਾਏ॥੩॥
ਤੇ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
One who understands the Lord's Command finds lasting peace. ||3||
ਆਪਿਕਰੇਤੈਆਪਿਕਰਾਏ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself does, and causes others to do.
ਆਪੇਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਨਾਮੁਵਸਾਏ॥
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ) ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself enshrines His Name in the mind of the Gurmukh.
ਆਪਿਭੁਲਾਵੈਆਪਿਮਾਰਗਿਪਾਏ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself misleads us, and He Himself puts us back on the Path.
ਸਚੈਸਬਦਿਸਚਿਸਮਾਏ॥੪॥
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
Through the True Word of the Shabad, we merge into the True Lord. ||4||
ਸਚਾਸਬਦੁਸਚੀਹੈਬਾਣੀ॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੈ,
True is the Shabad, and True is the Word of the Lord's Bani.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਜੁਗਿਜੁਗਿਆਖਿਵਖਾਣੀ॥
ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਆਈ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਭਰਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦੀ ਆਈ ਹੈ)।
In each and every age, the Gurmukhs speak it and chant it.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿਮੋਹਿਭਰਮਿਭੋਲਾਣੀ॥
ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ।
The self-willed manmukhs are deluded by doubt and attachment.
ਬਿਨੁਨਾਵੈਸਭਫਿਰੈਬਉਰਾਣੀ॥੫॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਝੱਲੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
Without the Name, everyone wanders around insane. ||5||
ਤੀਨਿਭਵਨਮਹਿਏਕਾਮਾਇਆ॥
ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਚਲਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Throughout the three worlds, is the one Maya.
ਮੂਰਖਿਪੜਿਪੜਿਦੂਜਾਭਾਉਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ॥
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਆਦਿਕ) ਪੜ੍ਹ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਗੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
The fool reads and reads, but holds tight to duality.
ਬਹੁਕਰਮਕਮਾਵੈਦੁਖੁਸਬਾਇਆ॥
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਿਥੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਸਹੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
He performs all sorts of rituals, but still suffers terrible pain.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਸਦਾਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਆ॥੬॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
Serving the True Guru, eternal peace is obtained. ||6||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁਮੀਠਾਸਬਦੁਵੀਚਾਰਿ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਮਤ) ਮਿੱਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ,
Reflective meditation upon the Shabad is such sweet nectar.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਭੋਗੇਹਉਮੈਮਾਰਿ॥
ਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Night and day, one enjoys it, subduing his ego.
ਸਹਜਿਅਨੰਦਿਕਿਰਪਾਧਾਰਿ॥
ਇੰਜ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the Lord showers His Mercy, we enjoy celestial bliss.
ਨਾਮਿਰਤੇਸਦਾਸਚਿਪਿਆਰਿ॥੭॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
Imbued with the Naam, love the True Lord forever. ||7||
ਹਰਿਜਪਿਪੜੀਐਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਵੀਚਾਰਿ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ (ਤੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meditate on the Lord, and read and reflect upon the Guru's Shabad.
ਹਰਿਜਪਿਪੜੀਐਹਉਮੈਮਾਰਿ॥
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Subdue your ego and meditate on the Lord.
ਹਰਿਜਪੀਐਭਇਸਚਿਪਿਆਰਿ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meditate on the Lord, and be imbued with fear and love of the True One.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਗੁਰਮਤਿਉਰਧਾਰਿ॥੮॥੩॥੨੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੮॥੩॥੨੫॥
O Nanak, enshrine the Naam within your heart, through the Guru's Teachings. ||8||3||25||
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਰਾਗੁਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੩ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆਘਰੁ੮ਕਾਫੀ॥
ਰਾਗ ਆਸਾ, ਘਰ ੮ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਠ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ 'ਕਾਫੀ'।

ਗੁਰਤੇਸਾਂਤਿਊਪਜੈਜਿਨਿਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਅਗਨਿਬੁਝਾਈ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁਝਦੀ ਹੈ।
Peace emanates from the Guru; He puts out the fire of desire.
ਗੁਰਤੇਨਾਮੁਪਾਈਐਵਡੀਵਡਿਆਈ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਵੱਡਾ ਆਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is obtained from the Guru; it is the greatest greatness. ||1||
ਏਕੋਨਾਮੁਚੇਤਿਮੇਰੇਭਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਾਂ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
Keep the One Name in your consciousness, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਜਗਤੁਜਲੰਦਾਦੇਖਿਕੈਭਜਿਪਏਸਰਣਾਈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸਰਨ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Seeing the world on fire, I have hurried to the Lord's Sanctuary. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਤੇਗਿਆਨੁਊਪਜੈਮਹਾਤਤੁਬੀਚਾਰਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
Spiritual wisdom emanates from the Guru; reflect upon the supreme essence of reality.
ਗੁਰਤੇਘਰੁਦਰੁਪਾਇਆਭਗਤੀਭਰੇਭੰਡਾਰਾ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
Through the Guru, the Lord's Mansion and His Court are attained; His devotional worship is overflowing with treasures. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਈਐਬੂਝੈਵੀਚਾਰਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh meditates on the Naam; he achieves reflective meditation and understanding.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਭਗਤਿਸਲਾਹਹੈਅੰਤਰਿਸਬਦੁਅਪਾਰਾ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
The Gurmukh is the Lord's devotee, immersed in His Praises; the Infinite Word of the Shabad dwells within him. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੂਖੁਊਪਜੈਦੁਖੁਕਦੇਨਹੋਈ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
Happiness emanates from the Gurmukh; he never suffers pain.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹਉਮੈਮਾਰੀਐਮਨੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਹੋਈ॥੪॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
The Gurmukh conquers his ego, and his mind is immaculately pure. ||4||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿਮਿਲਿਐਆਪੁਗਇਆਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਸੋਝੀਪਾਈ॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
Meeting the True Guru, self-conceit is removed, and understanding of the three worlds is obtained.
ਨਿਰਮਲਜੋਤਿਪਸਰਿਰਹੀਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲਾਈ॥੫॥
ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਜੋਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
The Immaculate Divine Light is pervading and permeating everywhere; one's light merges into the Light. ||5||
ਪੂਰੈਗੁਰਿਸਮਝਾਇਆਮਤਿਊਤਮਹੋਈ॥
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ) ਸਮਝਾਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਅਕਲ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
The Perfect Guru instructs, and one's intellect becomes sublime.
ਅੰਤਰੁਸੀਤਲੁਸਾਂਤਿਹੋਇਨਾਮੇਸੁਖੁਹੋਈ॥੬॥
ਹਿਰਦਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਕੇ) ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
A cooling and soothing peace comes within, and through the Naam, peace is obtained. ||6||
ਪੂਰਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਤਾਂਮਿਲੈਜਾਂਨਦਰਿਕਰੇਈ॥
(ਪਰ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਭੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
One meets the Perfect True Guru only when the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖਪਾਪਸਭਕਟੀਅਹਿਫਿਰਿਦੁਖੁਬਿਘਨੁਨਹੋਈ॥੭॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੁੜ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ॥੭॥
All sins and vices are eradicated, and one shall never again suffer pain or distress. ||7||
