ਦਰਸਨਕੀਮਨਿਆਸਘਨੇਰੀਕੋਈਐਸਾਸੰਤੁਮੋਕਉਪਿਰਹਿਮਿਲਾਵੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
My mind's desire for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is so great. Is there any Saint who can lead me to meet my Beloved? ||1||Pause||
ਚਾਰਿਪਹਰਚਹੁਜੁਗਹਸਮਾਨੇ॥
(ਦਿਨ ਦੇ) ਚਾਰ ਪਹਰ (ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਚਾਰ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
The four watches of the day are like the four ages.
ਰੈਣਿਭਈਤਬਅੰਤੁਨਜਾਨੇ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਰਾਤ ਆ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੨॥
And when night comes, I think that it shall never end. ||2||
ਪੰਚਦੂਤਮਿਲਿਪਿਰਹੁਵਿਛੋੜੀ॥
(ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ,
The five demons have joined together, to separate me from my Husband Lord.
ਭ੍ਰਮਿਭ੍ਰਮਿਰੋਵੈਹਾਥਪਛੋੜੀ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਰੋਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Wandering and rambling, I cry out and wring my hands. ||3||
ਜਨਨਾਨਕਕਉਹਰਿਦਰਸੁਦਿਖਾਇਆ॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
The Lord has revealed the Blessed Vision of His Darshan to servant Nanak;
ਆਤਮੁਚੀਨਿੑਪਰਮਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਆ॥੪॥੧੫॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੧੫॥
realizing his own self, he has obtained supreme peace. ||4||15||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Aasaa, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਹਰਿਸੇਵਾਮਹਿਪਰਮਨਿਧਾਨੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਲੁਕਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।)
In the Lord's service, are the greatest treasures.
ਹਰਿਸੇਵਾਮੁਖਿਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਾਮੁ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ-ਇਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Serving the Lord, the Ambrosial Naam comes into one's mouth. ||1||
ਹਰਿਮੇਰਾਸਾਥੀਸੰਗਿਸਖਾਈ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
The Lord is my Companion; He is with me, as my Help and Support.
ਦੁਖਿਸੁਖਿਸਿਮਰੀਤਹਮਉਜੂਦੁਜਮੁਬਪੁਰਾਮੋਕਉਕਹਾਡਰਾਈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦੁੱਖ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਖ ਵੇਲੇ (ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਉਥੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੋ, ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਜਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਥੇ ਡਰਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
In pain and pleasure, whenever I remember Him, He is present. How can the poor Messenger of Death frighten me now? ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿਮੇਰੀਓਟਮੈਹਰਿਕਾਤਾਣੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord is my Support; the Lord is my Power.
ਹਰਿਮੇਰਾਸਖਾਮਨਮਾਹਿਦੀਬਾਣੁ॥੨॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
The Lord is my Friend; He is my mind's advisor. ||2||
ਹਰਿਮੇਰੀਪੂੰਜੀਮੇਰਾਹਰਿਵੇਸਾਹੁ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ) ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ) ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਸਾਖ ਹੈ (ਇਤਬਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਹੈ)।
The Lord is my capital; the Lord is my credit.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਧਨੁਖਟੀਹਰਿਮੇਰਾਸਾਹੁ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਕਮਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
As Gurmukh, I earn the wealth, with the Lord as my Banker. ||3||
ਗੁਰਕਿਰਪਾਤੇਇਹਮਤਿਆਵੈ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਵਪਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
By Guru's Grace, this wisdom has come.
ਜਨਨਾਨਕੁਹਰਿਕੈਅੰਕਿਸਮਾਵੈ॥੪॥੧੬॥
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੬॥
Servant Nanak has merged into the Being of the Lord. ||4||16||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Aasaa, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਪ੍ਰਭੁਹੋਇਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁਤਇਹੁਮਨੁਲਾਈ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਮਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
When God shows His Mercy, then this mind is focused on Him.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਸਭੈਫਲਪਾਈ॥੧॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨ-ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
Serving the True Guru, all rewards are obtained. ||1||
ਮਨਕਿਉਬੈਰਾਗੁਕਰਹਿਗਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਮੇਰਾਪੂਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਘਾਬਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? (ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ) ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ,
O my mind, why are you so sad? My True Guru is Perfect.
ਮਨਸਾਕਾਦਾਤਾਸਭਸੁਖਨਿਧਾਨੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰਿਸਦਹੀਭਰਪੂਰਾ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ-ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He is the Giver of blessings, the treasure of all comforts; His Ambrosial Pool of Nectar is always overflowing. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਣਕਮਲਰਿਦਅੰਤਰਿਧਾਰੇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਏ,
One who enshrines His Lotus Feet within the heart,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲੇਰਾਮਪਿਆਰੇ॥੨॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗ ਪਈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ॥੨॥
meets the Beloved Lord; the Divine Light is revealed to him. ||2||
ਪੰਚਸਖੀਮਿਲਿਮੰਗਲੁਗਾਇਆ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗਾਉਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
The five companions have met together to sing the songs of joy.
ਅਨਹਦਬਾਣੀਨਾਦੁਵਜਾਇਆ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਵਾਜਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਜਾਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
The unstruck melody, the sound current of the Naad, vibrates and resounds. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁਨਾਨਕੁਤੁਠਾਮਿਲਿਆਹਰਿਰਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ,
O Nanak, when the Guru is totally pleased, one meets the Lord, the King.
ਸੁਖਿਰੈਣਿਵਿਹਾਣੀਸਹਜਿਸੁਭਾਇ॥੪॥੧੭॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ) ਰਾਤ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ ॥੪॥੧੭॥
Then, the night of one's life passes in peace and natural ease. ||4||17||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Aasaa, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਹਰਿਪਰਗਟੀਆਇਆ॥
(ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪ ਆ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Showing His Mercy, the Lord has revealed Himself to me.
ਮਿਲਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਧਨੁਪੂਰਾਪਾਇਆ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਘਟਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
Meeting the True Guru, I have received the perfect wealth. ||1||
ਐਸਾਹਰਿਧਨੁਸੰਚੀਐਭਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
Gather such a wealth of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਭਾਹਿਨਜਾਲੈਜਲਿਨਹੀਡੂਬੈਸੰਗੁਛੋਡਿਕਰਿਕਤਹੁਨਜਾਈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਸਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜੋ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
It cannot be burned by fire, and water cannot drown it; it does not forsake society, or go anywhere else. ||1||Pause||
ਤੋਟਿਨਆਵੈਨਿਖੁਟਿਨਜਾਇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਐਸਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ) ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ।
It does not run short, and it does not run out.
ਖਾਇਖਰਚਿਮਨੁਰਹਿਆਅਘਾਇ॥੨॥
ਇਹ ਧਨ ਆਪ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਧਨ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Eating and consuming it, the mind remains satisfied. ||2||
ਸੋਸਚੁਸਾਹੁਜਿਸੁਘਰਿਹਰਿਧਨੁਸੰਚਾਣਾ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is the true banker, who gathers the wealth of the Lord within his own home.
ਇਸੁਧਨਤੇਸਭੁਜਗੁਵਰਸਾਣਾ॥੩॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
With this wealth, the whole world profits. ||3||
ਤਿਨਿਹਰਿਧਨੁਪਾਇਆਜਿਸੁਪੁਰਬਲਿਖੇਕਾਲਹਣਾ॥
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਭਲੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
He alone receives the Lord's wealth, who is pre-ordained to receive it.
ਜਨਨਾਨਕਅੰਤਿਵਾਰਨਾਮੁਗਹਣਾ॥੪॥੧੮॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਗਹਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੮॥
O servant Nanak, at that very last moment, the Naam shall be your only decoration. ||4||18||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Aasaa, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਜੈਸੇਕਿਰਸਾਣੁਬੋਵੈਕਿਰਸਾਨੀ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਖੇਤੀ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ,
Just like the farmer, He plants His crop,
ਕਾਚੀਪਾਕੀਬਾਢਿਪਰਾਨੀ॥੧॥
(ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀ ਚਾਹੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਚਾਹੇ ਉਹ) ਕੱਚੀ (ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ) ਪੱਕੀ (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਉਮਰੇ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
and, whether it is ripe or unripe, He cuts it down. ||1||
ਜੋਜਨਮੈਸੋਜਾਨਹੁਮੂਆ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਯਕੀਨ ਜਾਣੋ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਭੀ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਹੈ।
Just so, you must know this well, that whoever is born, shall die.
ਗੋਵਿੰਦਭਗਤੁਅਸਥਿਰੁਹੈਥੀਆ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ (ਇਸ ਅਟੱਲ ਨਿਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਹਮ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Only the devotee of the Lord of the Universe becomes stable and permanent. ||1||Pause||
ਦਿਨਤੇਸਰਪਰਪਉਸੀਰਾਤਿ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਰਾਤ ਪੈ ਜਾਇਗੀ,
The day shall certainly be followed by the night.
ਰੈਣਿਗਈਫਿਰਿਹੋਇਪਰਭਾਤਿ॥੨॥
ਰਾਤ (ਭੀ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਫਿਰ ਮੁੜ ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਨਮ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਿਲਸਲਾ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
And when the night passes, the morning shall again dawn. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆਮੋਹਿਸੋਇਰਹੇਅਭਾਗੇ॥
(ਇਹ ਜਾਣਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਆਉਣੀ ਹੈ) ਬਦ-ਨਸੀਬ ਬੰਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਵਲੋਂ) ਗਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
In the love of Maya, the unfortunate ones remain in sleep.
ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿਕੋਵਿਰਲਾਜਾਗੇ॥੩॥
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਤੋਂ) ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
By Guru's Grace, a rare few remain awake and aware. ||3||
