ਜੋਮਨਿਰਾਤੇਹਰਿਰੰਗੁਲਾਇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਰਤ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those being whose minds are imbued and drenched with the Lord's Love
ਤਿਨਕਾਜਨਮਮਰਣਦੁਖੁਲਾਥਾਤੇਹਰਿਦਰਗਹਮਿਲੇਸੁਭਾਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
- their pains of birth and death are taken away. They are automatically ushered into the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਬਦੁਚਾਖੈਸਾਚਾਸਾਦੁਪਾਏ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who has tasted the Shabad, obtains the true flavor.
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਮੰਨਿਵਸਾਏ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Name of the Lord abides within his mind.
ਹਰਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਸਦਾਰਹਿਆਭਰਪੂਰਿ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਇਉਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord God is Eternal and All-pervading.
ਆਪੇਨੇੜੈਆਪੇਦੂਰਿ॥੨॥
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੂਰ (ਅਪਹੁੰਚ) ਭੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
He Himself is near, and He Himself is far away. ||2||
ਆਖਣਿਆਖੈਬਕੈਸਭੁਕੋਇ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਰਿਵਾਜੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
Everyone talks and speaks through speech;
ਆਪੇਬਖਸਿਮਿਲਾਏਸੋਇ॥
ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
the Lord Himself forgives, and unites us with Himself.
ਕਹਣੈਕਥਨਿਨਪਾਇਆਜਾਇ॥
ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਆਖਣ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
By merely speaking and talking, He is not obtained.
ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦਿਵਸੈਮਨਿਆਇ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
By Guru's Grace, He comes to abide in the mind. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਵਿਚਹੁਆਪੁਗਵਾਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Gurmukh eradicates his self-conceit from within.
ਹਰਿਰੰਗਿਰਾਤੇਮੋਹੁਚੁਕਾਇ॥
ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is imbued with the Lord's Love, having discarded worldly attachment.
ਅਤਿਨਿਰਮਲੁਗੁਰਸਬਦਵੀਚਾਰ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
He contemplates the utterly Immaculate Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮਿਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ॥੪॥੪॥੪੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੰਵਾਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਭੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੪੩॥
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is our Salvation. ||4||4||43||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Aasaa, Third Mahalaa:
ਦੂਜੈਭਾਇਲਗੇਦੁਖੁਪਾਇਆ॥
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹੇੜਿਆ,
Attached to the love of duality, one only incurs pain.
ਬਿਨੁਸਬਦੈਬਿਰਥਾਜਨਮੁਗਵਾਇਆ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਲਈ।
Without the Word of the Shabad, one's life is wasted away in vain.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵੈਸੋਝੀਹੋਇ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
Serving the True Guru, understanding is obtained,
ਦੂਜੈਭਾਇਨਲਾਗੈਕੋਇ॥੧॥
ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੧॥
and then, one is not attached to the love of duality. ||1||
ਮੂਲਿਲਾਗੇਸੇਜਨਪਰਵਾਣੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who hold fast to their roots, become acceptable.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਰਾਮਨਾਮੁਜਪਿਹਿਰਦੈਗੁਰਸਬਦੀਹਰਿਏਕੋਜਾਣੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Night and day, they meditate within their hearts on the Lord's Name; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they know the One Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਡਾਲੀਲਾਗੈਨਿਹਫਲੁਜਾਇ॥
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਚੀ ਮਾਇਆ-ਰੂਪ) ਟਹਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਅੱਫਲ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।)
One who is attached to the branch, does not receive the fruits.
ਅੰਧਂੀਕੰਮੀਅੰਧਸਜਾਇ॥
ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ-
For blind actions, blind punishment is received.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁਅੰਧਾਠਉਰਨਪਾਇ॥
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
The blind, self-willed manmukh finds no place of rest.
ਬਿਸਟਾਕਾਕੀੜਾਬਿਸਟਾਮਾਹਿਪਚਾਇ॥੨॥
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ) ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਗੰਦ ਦਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ॥੨॥
He is a maggot in manure, and in manure he shall rot away. ||2||
ਗੁਰਕੀਸੇਵਾਸਦਾਸੁਖੁਪਾਏ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
Serving the Guru, everlasting peace is obtained.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿਮਿਲਿਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਏ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Joining the True Congregation, the Sat Sangat, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung.
ਨਾਮੇਨਾਮਿਕਰੇਵੀਚਾਰੁ॥
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who contemplates the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
ਆਪਿਤਰੈਕੁਲਉਧਰਣਹਾਰੁ॥੩॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਉਹ ਆਪ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
saves himself, and his family as well. ||3||
ਗੁਰਕੀਬਾਣੀਨਾਮਿਵਜਾਏ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ (ਦਾ ਵਾਜਾ) ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ),
Through the Word of the Guru's Bani, the Naam resounds;
ਨਾਨਕਮਹਲੁਸਬਦਿਘਰੁਪਾਏ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਘਰ ਮਹਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, through the Word of the Shabad, one finds the Mansion of the Lord's Presence within the home of the heart.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿਸਤਸਰਿਹਰਿਜਲਿਨਾਇਆ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਤਸੰਗ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ,
Under Guru's Instruction, bathe in the Pool of Truth, in the Water of the Lord;
ਦੁਰਮਤਿਮੈਲੁਸਭੁਦੁਰਤੁਗਵਾਇਆ॥੪॥੫॥੪੪॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਭੈੜੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰਾ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੪॥
thus the filth of evil-mindedness and sin shall all be washed away. ||4||5||44||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Aasaa, Third Mahalaa:
ਮਨਮੁਖਮਰਹਿਮਰਿਮਰਣੁਵਿਗਾੜਹਿ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ) ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਤ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
The self-willed manmukhs are dying; they are wasting away in death.
ਦੂਜੈਭਾਇਆਤਮਸੰਘਾਰਹਿ॥
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
In the love of duality, they murder their own souls.
ਮੇਰਾਮੇਰਾਕਰਿਕਰਿਵਿਗੂਤਾ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ ਧਨ) ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਪਰਵਾਰਾ) ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ-ਨਿੱਤ ਇਹੀ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Crying out, "Mine, mine!", they are ruined.
ਆਤਮੁਨਚੀਨੑੈਭਰਮੈਵਿਚਿਸੂਤਾ॥੧॥
ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੜਤਾਲਦਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ) ਵਲੋਂ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
They do not remember their souls; they are asleep in superstition. ||1||
ਮਰੁਮੁਇਆਸਬਦੇਮਰਿਜਾਇ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਰਖਰੂਈ ਮੌਤ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਛੋਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He alone dies a real death, who dies in the Word of the Shabad.
ਉਸਤਤਿਨਿੰਦਾਗੁਰਿਸਮਜਾਣਾਈਇਸੁਜੁਗਮਹਿਲਾਹਾਹਰਿਜਪਿਲੈਜਾਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਖੇ, ਕੋਈ ਮੰਦਾ ਆਖੇ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਹਾਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ) ਖੱਟੀ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The Guru has inspired me to realize, that praise and slander are one and the same; in this world, the profit is obtained by chanting the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮਵਿਹੂਣਗਰਭਗਲਿਜਾਇ॥
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who lack the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are dissolved within the womb.
ਬਿਰਥਾਜਨਮੁਦੂਜੈਲੋਭਾਇ॥
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Useless is the birth of those who are lured by duality.
ਨਾਮਬਿਹੂਣੀਦੁਖਿਜਲੈਸਬਾਈ॥
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੀ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Without the Naam, all are burning in pain.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿਪੂਰੈਬੂਝਬੁਝਾਈ॥੨॥
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨੂੰ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
The Perfect True Guru has given me this understanding. ||2||
ਮਨੁਚੰਚਲੁਬਹੁਚੋਟਾਖਾਇ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The fickle mind is struck down so many times.
ਏਥਹੁਛੁੜਕਿਆਠਉਰਨਪਾਇ॥
ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਖੁੰਝਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਿਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
Having lost this opportunity, no place of rest shall be found.
ਗਰਭਜੋਨਿਵਿਸਟਾਕਾਵਾਸੁ॥
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਗੰਦ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ,
Cast into the womb of reincarnation, the mortal lives in manure;
ਤਿਤੁਘਰਿਮਨਮੁਖੁਕਰੇਨਿਵਾਸੁ॥੩॥
ਇਸ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
in such a home, the self-willed manmukh takes up residence. ||3||
ਅਪੁਨੇਸਤਿਗੁਰਕਉਸਦਾਬਲਿਜਾਈ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਮਿਲਾਈ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
the light of the Gurmukh blends with the Divine Light of the Lord.
ਨਿਰਮਲਬਾਣੀਨਿਜਘਰਿਵਾਸਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Through the Immaculate Bani of the Word, the mortal dwells within the home of his own inner self.
ਨਾਨਕਹਉਮੈਮਾਰੇਸਦਾਉਦਾਸਾ॥੪॥੬॥੪੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੫॥
O Nanak, he conquers his ego, and remains forever detached. ||4||6||45||
ਆਸਾਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Aasaa, Third Mahalaa:
ਲਾਲੈਆਪਣੀਜਾਤਿਗਵਾਈ॥
ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ (ਵੱਖਰੀ) ਹਸਤੀ ਮਿਟਾ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
The Lord's slave sets aside his own social status.
