Shalok, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਰਹਦੇਖੁਹਦੇਨਿੰਦਕਮਾਰਿਅਨੁਕਰਿਆਪੇਆਹਰੁ॥
(ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਤੋ ਪਾਪ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਕੁਝ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਰ ਚੁਕਦੇ ਹਨ) ਬਾਕੀ ਜੋ ਥੋੜੇ ਬਹੁਤ (ਭਲੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ)
By their own efforts, the slanderers have destroyed all remnants of themselves.
ਸੰਤਸਹਾਈਨਾਨਕਾਵਰਤੈਸਭਜਾਹਰੁ॥੧॥
ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹਰੀ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਪਰਗਟ ਖੇਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The Support of the Saints, O Nanak, is manifest, pervading everywhere. ||1||

Fifth Mahalaa:
ਮੁੰਢਹੁਭੁਲੇਮੁੰਢਤੇਕਿਥੈਪਾਇਨਿਹਥੁ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਹਿਲੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਣ?
Those who went astray from the Primal Being in the very beginning - where can they find refuge?
ਤਿੰਨੈਮਾਰੇਨਾਨਕਾਜਿਕਰਣਕਾਰਣਸਮਰਥੁ॥੨॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
O Nanak, they are struck down by the All-powerful, the Cause of causes. ||2||
ਪਉੜੀ੫॥
Pauree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਲੈਫਾਹੇਰਾਤੀਤੁਰਹਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਜਾਣੈਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ॥
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਫਾਹੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਪਰਾਏ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟਣ ਲਈ) ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
They take the noose in their hands, and go out at night to strangle others, but God knows everything, O mortal.
ਤਕਹਿਨਾਰਿਪਰਾਈਆਲੁਕਿਅੰਦਰਿਠਾਣੀ॥
ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਥਾਈਂ ਲੁਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਵਲ ਤੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ,
They spy on other men's women, concealed in their hiding places.
ਸੰਨੑੀਦੇਨਿੑਵਿਖੰਮਥਾਇਮਿਠਾਮਦੁਮਾਣੀ॥
ਔਖੇ ਥਾਈਂ ਸੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
They break into well-protected places, and revel in sweet wine.
ਕਰਮੀਆਪੋਆਪਣੀਆਪੇਪਛੁਤਾਣੀ॥
(ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਛਤਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
But they shall come to regret their actions - they create their own karma.
ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁਫਰੇਸਤਾਤਿਲਪੀੜੇਘਾਣੀ॥੨੭॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਪੀੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਘਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਿਲ ॥੨੭॥
Azraa-eel, the Angel of Death, shall crush them like sesame seeds in the oil-press. ||27||
ਸਲੋਕਮਃ੫॥
Shalok, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਸੇਵਕਸਚੇਸਾਹਕੇਸੇਈਪਰਵਾਣੁ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਨ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The servants of the True King are acceptable and approved.
ਦੂਜਾਸੇਵਨਿਨਾਨਕਾਸੇਪਚਿਪਚਿਮੁਏਅਜਾਣ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ (ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਖਪ ਖਪ ਕੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Those ignorant ones who serve duality, O Nanak, rot, waste away and die. ||1||
ਮਃ੫॥
Fifth Mahalaa:
ਜੋਧੁਰਿਲਿਖਿਆਲੇਖੁਪ੍ਰਭਮੇਟਣਾਨਜਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜੋ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ) ਲੇਖ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਉੱਕਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
That destiny which was pre-ordained by God from the very beginning cannot be erased.
ਰਾਮਨਾਮੁਧਨੁਵਖਰੋਨਾਨਕਸਦਾਧਿਆਇ॥੨॥
(ਪਰ ਹਾਂ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੇ ਸੌਦਾ (ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰੋ), ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰੋ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਛਲਾ ਲੇਖ ਮਿਟ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
The wealth of the Lord's Name is Nanak's capital; he meditates on it forever. ||2||
ਪਉੜੀ੫॥
Pauree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਨਾਰਾਇਣਿਲਇਆਨਾਠੂੰਗੜਾਪੈਰਕਿਥੈਰਖੈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਠੇਡਾ ਵੱਜੇ, ਉਹ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ) ਟਿਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
One who has received a kick from the Lord God - where can he place his foot?
ਕਰਦਾਪਾਪਅਮਿਤਿਆਨਿਤਵਿਸੋਚਖੈ॥
ਉਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਹੁ ਹੀ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਸਕਾ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
He commits countless sins, and continually eats poison.
ਨਿੰਦਾਕਰਦਾਪਚਿਮੁਆਵਿਚਿਦੇਹੀਭਖੈ॥
ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਐਬ ਢੂੰਢ ਢੂੰਢ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
Slandering others, he wastes away and dies; within his body, he burns.
ਸਚੈਸਾਹਿਬਮਾਰਿਆਕਉਣੁਤਿਸਨੋਰਖੈ॥
ਉਹ (ਸਮਝੋ) ਸੱਚੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
One who has been struck down by the True Lord and Master - who can save him now?
ਨਾਨਕਤਿਸੁਸਰਣਾਗਤੀਜੋਪੁਰਖੁਅਲਖੈ॥੨੮॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸ ਵਿਹੁ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਉ ਜੋ ਅਲੱਖ ਹੈ ॥੨੮॥
Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Unseen Lord, the Primal Being. ||28||
ਸਲੋਕਮਃ੫॥
Shalok, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਨਰਕਘੋਰਬਹੁਦੁਖਘਣੇਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਾਕਾਥਾਨੁ॥
ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਬਹੁਤ ਭਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਰੂਪ ਘੋਰ ਨਰਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
In the most horrible hell, there is terrible pain and suffering. It is the place of the ungrateful.
ਤਿਨਿਪ੍ਰਭਿਮਾਰੇਨਾਨਕਾਹੋਇਹੋਇਮੁਏਹਰਾਮੁ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
They are struck down by God, O Nanak, and they die a most miserable death. ||1||
ਮਃ੫॥
Fifth Mahalaa:
ਅਵਖਧਸਭੇਕੀਤਿਅਨੁਨਿੰਦਕਕਾਦਾਰੂਨਾਹਿ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਰੂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ), ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ (ਦੇ ਨਿੰਦਾ-ਰੋਗ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਇਲਾਜ ਨਹੀਂ।
All kinds of medicines may be prepared, but there is no cure for the slanderer.
ਆਪਿਭੁਲਾਏਨਾਨਕਾਪਚਿਪਚਿਜੋਨੀਪਾਹਿ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉਹ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਨਿੰਦਕ ਖਪ ਖਪ ਕੇ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
Those whom the Lord Himself misleads, O Nanak, putrefy and rot in reincarnation. ||2||
ਪਉੜੀ੫॥
Pauree, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਤੁਸਿਦਿਤਾਪੂਰੈਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਹਰਿਧਨੁਸਚੁਅਖੁਟੁ॥
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਨ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
By His Pleasure, the True Guru has blessed me with the inexhaustible wealth of the Name of the True Lord.
ਸਭਿਅੰਦੇਸੇਮਿਟਿਗਏਜਮਕਾਭਉਛੁਟੁ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
All my anxiety is ended; I am rid of the fear of death.
ਕਾਮਕ੍ਰੋਧਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂਸੰਗਿਸਾਧੂਤੁਟੁ॥
(ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਪਾਪ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Sexual desire, anger and other evils have been subdued in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਵਿਣੁਸਚੇਦੂਜਾਸੇਵਦੇਹੁਇਮਰਸਨਿਬੁਟੁ॥
ਪਰ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬੋਟ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who serve another, instead of the True Lord, die unfulfilled in the end.
ਨਾਨਕਕਉਗੁਰਿਬਖਸਿਆਨਾਮੈਸੰਗਿਜੁਟੁ॥੨੯॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੯॥
The Guru has blessed Nanak with forgiveness; he is united with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||29||
ਸਲੋਕਮਃ੪॥
Shalok, Fourth Mahalaa:
ਤਪਾਨਹੋਵੈਅੰਦ੍ਰਹੁਲੋਭੀਨਿਤਮਾਇਆਨੋਫਿਰੈਜਜਮਾਲਿਆ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਲੋਭੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੋਹੜੀ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ, ਉਹ (ਸੱਚਾ) ਤਪੱਸਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
He is not a penitent, who is greedy within his heart, and who constantly chases after Maya like a leper.
ਅਗੋਦੇਸਦਿਆਸਤੈਦੀਭਿਖਿਆਲਏਨਾਹੀਪਿਛੋਦੇਪਛੁਤਾਇਕੈਆਣਿਤਪੈਪੁਤੁਵਿਚਿਬਹਾਲਿਆ॥
ਇਹ ਤਪਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ) ਸੱਦਿਆਂ ਆਦਰ ਦੀ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਤੇ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਪਛਤਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ (ਪੰਗਤਿ) ਵਿਚ ਬਿਠਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When this penitent was first invited, he refused our charity; but later he repented and sent his son, who was seated in the congregation.
ਪੰਚਲੋਗਸਭਿਹਸਣਲਗੇਤਪਾਲੋਭਿਲਹਰਿਹੈਗਾਲਿਆ॥
(ਨਗਰ ਦੇ) ਮੁਖੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੱਸਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ (ਤੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ) ਇਹ ਤਪਾ ਲੋਭ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਗਲਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
The village elders all laughed, saying that the waves of greed have destroyed this penitent.
ਜਿਥੈਥੋੜਾਧਨੁਵੇਖੈਤਿਥੈਤਪਾਭਿਟੈਨਾਹੀਧਨਿਬਹੁਤੈਡਿਠੈਤਪੈਧਰਮੁਹਾਰਿਆ॥
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਥੋਹੜਾ ਧਨ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਥੇ ਤਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਛੋਂਹਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਧਨ ਵੇਖਿਆਂ (ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਤਪੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਰਮ ਹਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
If he sees only a little wealth, he does not bother to go there; but when he sees a lot of wealth, the penitent forsakes his vows.
ਭਾਈਏਹੁਤਪਾਨਹੋਵੀਬਗੁਲਾਹੈਬਹਿਸਾਧਜਨਾਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ॥
ਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ) ਕਿ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ (ਸੱਚਾ) ਤਪਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਬਗੁਲਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਪਖੰਡੀ) ਹੈ।
O Siblings of Destiny, he is not a penitent - he is only a stork. Sitting together, the Holy Congregation has so decided.
ਸਤਪੁਰਖਕੀਤਪਾਨਿੰਦਾਕਰੈਸੰਸਾਰੈਕੀਉਸਤਤੀਵਿਚਿਹੋਵੈਏਤੁਦੋਖੈਤਪਾਦਯਿਮਾਰਿਆ॥
ਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਤਪਾ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮੁਰਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The penitent slanders the True Primal Being, and sings the praises of the material world. For this sin, he is cursed by the Lord.
ਮਹਾਪੁਰਖਾਂਕੀਨਿੰਦਾਕਾਵੇਖੁਜਿਤਪੇਨੋਫਲੁਲਗਾਸਭੁਗਇਆਤਪੇਕਾਘਾਲਿਆ॥
ਵੇਖੋ! ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੀ (ਹੁਣ ਤਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਸਾਰੀ ਘਾਲ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
Behold the fruit the penitent gathers, for slandering the Great Primal Being; all his labors have gone in vain.
ਬਾਹਰਿਬਹੈਪੰਚਾਵਿਚਿਤਪਾਸਦਾਏ॥ਅੰਦਰਿਬਹੈਤਪਾਪਾਪਕਮਾਏ॥ਹਰਿਅੰਦਰਲਾਪਾਪੁਪੰਚਾਨੋਉਘਾਕਰਿਵੇਖਾਲਿਆ॥
ਬਾਹਰ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤਪਾ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਤਪਾ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਤਪੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ (ਲੁਕਵਾਂ) ਪਾਪ ਪੰਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When he sits outside among the elders, he is called a penitent; but when he sits within the congregation, the penitent commits sin. The Lord has exposed the penitent's secret sin to the elders.
