ਲਖਚਉਰਾਸੀਹਤਰਸਦੇਜਿਸੁਮੇਲੇਸੋਮਿਲੈਹਰਿਆਇ॥
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ) ਤਰਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The 8.4 million species of beings all yearn for the Lord. Those whom He unites, come to be united with the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹਰਿਪਾਇਆਸਦਾਹਰਿਨਾਮਿਸਮਾਇ॥੪॥੬॥੩੯॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੩੯॥{28-29}
O Nanak, the Gurmukh finds the Lord, and remains forever absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||4||6||39||

Siree Raag, Third Mahalaa:
ਸੁਖਸਾਗਰੁਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਹੈਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਪਾਇਆਜਾਇ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ।
The Name of the Lord is the Ocean of Peace; the Gurmukhs obtain it.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਈਐਸਹਜੇਨਾਮਿਸਮਾਇ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meditating on the Naam, night and day, they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Naam.
ਅੰਦਰੁਰਚੈਹਰਿਸਚਸਿਉਰਸਨਾਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਇ॥੧॥
ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Their inner beings are immersed in the True Lord; they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਭਾਈਰੇਜਗੁਦੁਖੀਆਦੂਜੈਭਾਇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਦਿਕ) ਹੋਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
O Siblings of Destiny, the world is in misery, engrossed in the love of duality.
ਗੁਰਸਰਣਾਈਸੁਖੁਲਹਹਿਅਨਦਿਨੁਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ; (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣੇਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
In the Sanctuary of the Guru, peace is found, meditating on the Naam night and day. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਚੇਮੈਲੁਨਲਾਗਈਮਨੁਨਿਰਮਲੁਹਰਿਧਿਆਇ॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦੀ, (ਉਸ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਭੀ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The truthful ones are not stained by filth. Meditating on the Lord, their minds remain pure.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਬਦੁਪਛਾਣੀਐਹਰਿਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਾਮਿਸਮਾਇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukhs realize the Word of the Shabad; they are immersed in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰਗਿਆਨੁਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੁਬਲਾਇਆਅਗਿਆਨੁਅੰਧੇਰਾਜਾਇ॥੨॥
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
The Guru has lit the brilliant light of spiritual wisdom, and the darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖਮੈਲੇਮਲੁਭਰੇਹਉਮੈਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਿਕਾਰੁ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਮਲੀਨ-ਮਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukhs are polluted. They are filled with the pollution of egotism, wickedness and desire.
ਬਿਨੁਸਬਦੈਮੈਲੁਨਉਤਰੈਮਰਿਜੰਮਹਿਹੋਇਖੁਆਰੁ॥
ਇਹ ਮੈਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦੀ, (ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Without the Shabad, this pollution is not washed off; through the cycle of death and rebirth, they waste away in misery.
ਧਾਤੁਰਬਾਜੀਪਲਚਿਰਹੇਨਾਉਰਵਾਰੁਨਪਾਰੁ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਜਗਤ-ਖੇਡ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਉਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ॥੩॥
Engrossed in this transitory drama, they are not at home in either this world or the next. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਜਪਤਪਸੰਜਮੀਹਰਿਕੈਨਾਮਿਪਿਆਰੁ॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
For the Gurmukh, the love of the Name of the Lord is chanting, deep meditation and self-discipline.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਦਾਧਿਆਈਐਏਕੁਨਾਮੁਕਰਤਾਰੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh meditates forever on the Name of the One Creator Lord.
ਨਾਨਕਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਈਐਸਭਨਾਜੀਆਕਾਆਧਾਰੁ॥੪॥੭॥੪੦॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥੪੦॥
O Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Support of all beings. ||4||7||40||
ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਗੁਮਹਲਾ੩॥

ਮਨਮੁਖੁਮੋਹਿਵਿਆਪਿਆਬੈਰਾਗੁਉਦਾਸੀਨਹੋਇ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਨਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮਤਾ।
The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in emotional attachment; they are not balanced or detached.
ਸਬਦੁਨਚੀਨੈਸਦਾਦੁਖੁਹਰਿਦਰਗਹਪਤਿਖੋਇ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ (ਘੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They do not comprehend the Word of the Shabad. They suffer in pain forever, and lose their honor in the Court of the Lord.
ਹਉਮੈਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਖੋਈਐਨਾਮਿਰਤੇਸੁਖੁਹੋਇ॥੧॥
ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The Gurmukhs shed their ego; attuned to the Naam, they find peace. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇਮਨਅਹਿਨਿਸਿਪੂਰਿਰਹੀਨਿਤਆਸਾ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤਾਂ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਆਸ ਭਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
O my mind, day and night, you are always full of wishful hopes.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਮੋਹੁਪਰਜਲੈਘਰਹੀਮਾਹਿਉਦਾਸਾ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ (ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ) ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ) ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Serve the True Guru, and your emotional attachment shall be totally burnt away; remain detached within the home of your heart. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਕਰਮਕਮਾਵੈਬਿਗਸੈਹਰਿਬੈਰਾਗੁਅਨੰਦੁ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukhs do good deeds and blossom forth; balanced and detached in the Lord, they are in ecstasy.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿਭਗਤਿਕਰੇਦਿਨੁਰਾਤੀਹਉਮੈਮਾਰਿਨਿਚੰਦੁ॥
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਬੇ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Night and day, they perform devotional worship, day and night; subduing their ego, they are carefree.
ਵਡੈਭਾਗਿਸਤਿਸੰਗਤਿਪਾਈਹਰਿਪਾਇਆਸਹਜਿਅਨੰਦੁ॥੨॥
ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
By great good fortune, I found the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; I have found the Lord, with intuitive ease and ecstasy. ||2||
ਸੋਸਾਧੂਬੈਰਾਗੀਸੋਈਹਿਰਦੈਨਾਮੁਵਸਾਏ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਸਲ) ਸਾਧੂ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
That person is a Holy Saadhu, and a renouncer of the world, whose heart is filled with the Naam.
ਅੰਤਰਿਲਾਗਿਨਤਾਮਸੁਮੂਲੇਵਿਚਹੁਆਪੁਗਵਾਏ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
His inner being is not touched by anger or dark energies at all; he has lost his selfishness and conceit.
ਨਾਮੁਨਿਧਾਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਦਿਖਾਲਿਆਹਰਿਰਸੁਪੀਆਅਘਾਏ॥੩॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਉਸਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ) ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਰੱਜ ਕੇ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
The True Guru has revealed to him the Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he drinks in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, and is satisfied. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿਕਿਨੈਪਾਇਆਸਾਧਸੰਗਤੀਪੂਰੈਭਾਗਿਬੈਰਾਗਿ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ।
Whoever has found it, has done so in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Through perfect good fortune, such balanced detachment is attained.
ਮਨਮੁਖਫਿਰਹਿਨਜਾਣਹਿਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਹਉਮੈਅੰਦਰਿਲਾਗਿ॥
ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ (ਬਾਹਰ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਅਦਿਕ ਵਿਚ) ਤੁਰੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ) ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ (ਦੀ ਮੈਲ) ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukhs wander around lost, but they do not know the True Guru. They are inwardly attached to egotism.
ਨਾਨਕਸਬਦਿਰਤੇਹਰਿਨਾਮਿਰੰਗਾਏਬਿਨੁਭੈਕੇਹੀਲਾਗਿ॥੪॥੮॥੪੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਪਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਰੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ, ਤੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੧॥
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Shabad are dyed in the Color of the Lord's Name. Without the Fear of God, how can they retain this Color? ||4||8||41||
ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Siree Raag, Third Mahalaa:
ਘਰਹੀਸਉਦਾਪਾਈਐਅੰਤਰਿਸਭਵਥੁਹੋਇ॥
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਸਾਰਾ (ਉੱਤਮ) ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਇਹ ਸੌਦਾ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Within the home of your own inner being, the merchandise is obtained. All commodities are within.
ਖਿਨੁਖਿਨੁਨਾਮੁਸਮਾਲੀਐਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਪਾਵੈਕੋਇ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Each and every moment, dwell on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Gurmukhs obtain it.
ਨਾਮੁਨਿਧਾਨੁਅਖੁਟੁਹੈਵਡਭਾਗਿਪਰਾਪਤਿਹੋਇ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਦੀ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ) (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The Treasure of the Naam is inexhaustible. By great good fortune, it is obtained. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇਮਨਤਜਿਨਿੰਦਾਹਉਮੈਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ।
O my mind, give up slander, egotism and arrogance.
