ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਲਿਖਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਨਵਾਦ ਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਚਾ ਸੰਬਧੀ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦਾ।
Just as the mind of an accountant is ever engrossed in maintaining and writing accounts of worldly affairs, it does not focus on writing the paeans of the Lord.

ਜੈਸੇਮਨਬਨਜੁਬਿਉਹਾਰਕੇਬਿਥਾਰਬਿਖੈਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਅਵਗਾਹਨੁਨਭਾਵਈ।
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਫੇਰ ਵਣਜ ਵਪਾਰ ਸੌਦੇ ਸੂਤ ਲੈਣ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਪਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਸਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦਾ ਅਗਵਾਹਨ ਅਭ੍ਯਾਸ ਓਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੌਂਦਾ ਪਸਿੰਦ ਔਂਦਾ।
As the mind is engrossed in trading and business, it does not like to involve and engross itself in the meditation of Lord's name.
जैसे मन बनजु बिउहार के बिथार बिखै सबद सुरति अवगाहनु न भावई ।
ਜੈਸੇਮਨੁਕਨਿਕਅਉਕਾਮਨੀਸਨੇਹਬਿਖੈਸਾਧਸੰਗਤੈਸੇਨੇਹੁਪਲਨਲਗਾਵਈ।
ਜਿਸ ਭਾਂਤ ਮਨ ਕਨਿਕ ਸੋਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਨੇਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਓਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੌਂਦਾ।
Just as a man is enamoured by gold and love of woman, he does not show that type of love in his heart for a moment for the congregation of holy men.

ਮਾਇਆਬੰਧਧੰਧਬਿਖੈਆਵਧਬਿਹਾਇਜਾਇਗੁਰਉਪਦੇਸਹੀਨਪਾਛੈਪਛੁਤਾਵਈ੨੩੪।।
ਸਾਰ ਕੀਹ ਕਿ ਮਾਯਾ ਦਿਆਂ ਧੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ ਜੰਜਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਧ ਫਸਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਧ ਆਯੂ ਅਕਾਰਥ ਹੀ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਹਲ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਵੰਜਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਫੇਰ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੨੩੪॥
Life is spent in the worldly bondages and affairs. One bereft of practicing and following the teachings of True Guru repents when one's time to depart from this world draws near. (234)
