ਕੋਈਜਿਮੂਰਖੁਲੋਭੀਆਮੂਲਿਨਸੁਣੀਕਹਿਆ॥੨॥
ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਐਸਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਖ ਲੋਭੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਆਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ॥੨॥
But he is foolish and greedy, and he never listens to what he is told. ||2||
ਇਕਸੁਦੁਹੁਚਹੁਕਿਆਗਣੀਸਭਇਕਤੁਸਾਦਿਮੁਠੀ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਕ ਦੀ ਦੁਂਹ ਦੀ ਚੁਂਹ ਦੀ ਕੀਹ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਾਂ? ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Why bother to count one, two, three, four? The whole world is defrauded by the same enticements.
ਇਕੁਅਧੁਨਾਇਰਸੀਅੜਾਕਾਵਿਰਲੀਜਾਇਵੁਠੀ॥੩॥
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰਸ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਥਾਂ ਵਰੋਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Hardly anyone loves the Lord's Name; how rare is that place which is in bloom. ||3||
ਭਗਤਸਚੇਦਰਿਸੋਹਦੇਅਨਦਕਰਹਿਦਿਨਰਾਤਿ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
The devotees look beautiful in the True Court; night and day, they are happy.
ਰੰਗਿਰਤੇਪਰਮੇਸਰੈਜਨਨਾਨਕਤਿਨਬਲਿਜਾਤ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬੯॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬੯॥
They are imbued with the Love of the Transcendent Lord; servant Nanak is a sacrifice to them. ||4||1||169||
ਗਉੜੀਮਹਲਾ੫ਮਾਂਝ॥
Gauree, Fifth Mahalaa, Maajh:
ਦੁਖਭੰਜਨੁਤੇਰਾਨਾਮੁਜੀਦੁਖਭੰਜਨੁਤੇਰਾਨਾਮੁ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name, Lord; the Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name.
ਆਠਪਹਰਆਰਾਧੀਐਪੂਰਨਸਤਿਗੁਰਗਿਆਨੁ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ-ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, dwell upon the wisdom of the Perfect True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਤੁਘਟਿਵਸੈਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਸੋਈਸੁਹਾਵਾਥਾਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਥਾਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
That heart, in which the Supreme Lord God abides, is the most beautiful place.
ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁਨੇੜਿਨਆਵਈਰਸਨਾਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਉ॥੧॥
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਮਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁੱਕਦਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord with the tongue. ||1||
ਸੇਵਾਸੁਰਤਿਨਜਾਣੀਆਨਾਜਾਪੈਆਰਾਧਿ॥
ਮੈਂ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਝਿਆ,
I have not understood the wisdom of serving Him, nor have I worshipped Him in meditation.
ਓਟਤੇਰੀਜਗਜੀਵਨਾਮੇਰੇਠਾਕੁਰਅਗਮਅਗਾਧਿ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਪਰ ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
You are my Support, O Life of the World; O my Lord and Master, Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. ||2||
ਭਏਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਗੁਸਾਈਆਨਠੇਸੋਗਸੰਤਾਪ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
When the Lord of the Universe became merciful, sorrow and suffering departed.
ਤਤੀਵਾਉਨਲਗਈਸਤਿਗੁਰਿਰਖੇਆਪਿ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੋਗ-ਸੰਤਾਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਸੇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
The hot winds do not even touch those who are protected by the True Guru. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁਨਾਰਾਇਣੁਦਯੁਗੁਰੁਗੁਰੁਸਚਾਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The Guru is the All-pervading Lord, the Guru is the Merciful Master; the Guru is the True Creator Lord.
ਗੁਰਿਤੁਠੈਸਭਕਿਛੁਪਾਇਆਜਨਨਾਨਕਸਦਬਲਿਹਾਰ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥
When the Guru was totally satisfied, I obtained everything. Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||2||170||
ਗਉੜੀਮਾਝਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Gauree Maajh, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਹਰਿਰਾਮਰਾਮਰਾਮਰਾਮਾ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-
The Lord, the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam:
ਜਪਿਪੂਰਨਹੋਏਕਾਮਾ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
meditating on Him, all affairs are resolved. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮਗੋਬਿੰਦਜਪੇਦਿਆਹੋਆਮੁਖੁਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, one's mouth is sanctified.
ਹਰਿਜਸੁਸੁਣੀਐਜਿਸਤੇਸੋਈਭਾਈਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ॥੧॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਰਾ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
One who recites to me the Praises of the Lord is my friend and brother. ||1||
ਸਭਿਪਦਾਰਥਸਭਿਫਲਾਸਰਬਗੁਣਾਜਿਸੁਮਾਹਿ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ,
All treasures, all rewards and all virtues are in the Lord of the Universe.
ਕਿਉਗੋਬਿੰਦੁਮਨਹੁਵਿਸਾਰੀਐਜਿਸੁਸਿਮਰਤਦੁਖਜਾਹਿ॥੨॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਭੁਲਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
Why forget Him from your mind? Remembering Him in meditation, pain departs. ||2||
ਜਿਸੁਲੜਿਲਗਿਐਜੀਵੀਐਭਵਜਲੁਪਈਐਪਾਰਿ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਭੁਲਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ,
Grasping the hem of His robe, we live, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਮਿਲਿਸਾਧੂਸੰਗਿਉਧਾਰੁਹੋਇਮੁਖਊਜਲਦਰਬਾਰਿ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one is saved, and one's face becomes radiant in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਜੀਵਨਰੂਪਗੋਪਾਲਜਸੁਸੰਤਜਨਾਕੀਰਾਸਿ॥
ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
The Praise of the Sustainer of the Universe is the essence of life, and the wealth of His Saints.
ਨਾਨਕਉਬਰੇਨਾਮੁਜਪਿਦਰਿਸਚੈਸਾਬਾਸਿ॥੪॥੩॥੧੭੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੭੧॥
Nanak is saved, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in the True Court, he is cheered and applauded. ||4||3||171||
ਗਉੜੀਮਾਝਮਹਲਾ੫॥

ਮੀਠੇਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਉਜਿੰਦੂਤੂੰਮੀਠੇਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ, ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ।
Sing the Sweet Praises of the Lord, O my soul, sing the Sweet Praises of the Lord.
ਸਚੇਸੇਤੀਰਤਿਆਮਿਲਿਆਨਿਥਾਵੇਥਾਉ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਢੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Attuned to the True One, even the homeless find a home. ||1||Pause||
ਹੋਰਿਸਾਦਸਭਿਫਿਕਿਆਤਨੁਮਨੁਫਿਕਾਹੋਇ॥
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਠੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਂ) ਸਰੀਰ (ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ) ਫਿੱਕਾ (ਰੁੱਖਾ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਰੁੱਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
All other tastes are bland and insipid; through them, the body and mind are rendered insipid as well.
ਵਿਣੁਪਰਮੇਸਰਜੋਕਰੇਫਿਟੁਸੁਜੀਵਣੁਸੋਇ॥੧॥
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Without the Transcendent Lord, what can anyone do? Cursed is his life, and cursed his reputation. ||1||
ਅੰਚਲੁਗਹਿਕੈਸਾਧਕਾਤਰਣਾਇਹੁਸੰਸਾਰੁ॥
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-(ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Grasping the hem of the robe of the Holy Saint, we cross over the world-ocean.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਆਰਾਧੀਐਉਧਰੈਸਭਪਰਵਾਰੁ॥੨॥
(ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Worship and adore the Supreme Lord God, and all your family will be saved as well. ||2||
ਸਾਜਨੁਬੰਧੁਸੁਮਿਤ੍ਰੁਸੋਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਹਿਰਦੈਦੇਇ॥
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਵਸਾਣ ਲਈ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੱਜਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ,
He is a companion, a relative, and a good friend of mine, who implants the Lord's Name within my heart.
ਅਉਗਣਸਭਿਮਿਟਾਇਕੈਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁਕਰੇਇ॥੩॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
He washes off all my demerits, and is so generous to me. ||3||
ਮਾਲੁਖਜਾਨਾਥੇਹੁਘਰੁਹਰਿਕੇਚਰਣਨਿਧਾਨ॥
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ (ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਨ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਮਾਲ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸਲੀ) ਵੱਸੋਂ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਘਰ ਹੈ।
Wealth, treasures, and household are all just ruins; the Lord's Feet are the only treasure.
ਨਾਨਕੁਜਾਚਕੁਦਰਿਤੇਰੈਪ੍ਰਭਤੁਧਨੋਮੰਗੈਦਾਨੁ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭੨॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ) ਮੰਗਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ-ਵਜੋਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭੨॥
