ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁਸਤਿਸੁਹਾਣੀਐ।
ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ, ਸੱਤ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord is the emperor of the emperors, the truth and the beautiful
ਵਡਾਬੇਪਰਵਾਹਅੰਤੁਨਜਾਣੀਐ।
ਬਹੁਤ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੈ (ਉਸਦਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।
He, the great, is nonchalant and his mystery cannot be understood
ਲਉਬਾਲੀਦਰਗਾਹਆਖਿਵਖਾਣੀਐ।
(ਉਸਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੈ, (ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਨੂੰ) ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
His court is also anxiety free.
ਕੁਦਰਤਅਗਮੁਅਥਾਹੁਚੋਜਵਿਡਾਣੀਐ।
(ਆਪ ਕਾਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਸਦੀ) ਕੁਦਰਤ ਬੀ ਅਗੰਮ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ, ਕੌਤਕ ਉਸਦੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਹਨ।
The feats of His powers are unfathomable and impervious.
ਸਚੀਸਿਫਤਿਸਲਾਹਅਕਥਕਹਾਣੀਐ।
(ਉਸਦੀ) ਕੀਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਮਹਿੰਮਾਂ (ਜਿੰਨੀ ਕਰੀਏ) ਸਚੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸਦੀ) ਕਹਾਣੀ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੈ।
His praise is true and the story of His eulogisation is undescribable.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਸਚੇਵਾਹੁਸਦਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਐ।੧।
ਸੱਚੇ 'ਸਤਿ+ਗੁਰ' ਤੇ 'ਵਾਹ+ਗੁਰ' ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਣ ਜਾਈਏ।
I accept the true Guru wondrous and offer my life (for His truth).
ਪਉੜੀ੨
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇਬਿਸਨਮਹੇਸਲਖਧਿਆਇਦੇ।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ, ਬਿਸ਼ਨੁ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਆਦਿ ਲਖਾਂ ਧਿਆਨ ਕਰਣ ਹਾਰੇ (ਮੁਸਾਹਿਬ ਹਨ)।
Millions of Brahmas, Visnus and Mahegas adore the Lord.
ਨਾਰਦਸਾਰਦਸੇਸਕੀਰਤਿਗਾਇਦੇ।
ਨਾਰਦ ਰਿਖੀ, ਸੁਰੱਸ੍ਵਤੀ, ਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਨਾਗ (ਭੱਟਾਂ ਵਾਂਙੂ) ਜਸ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Narad, Saran and Sesanag eulogise Him.
ਗਣਗੰਧਰਬਗਣੇਸਨਾਦਵਜਾਇਦੇ।
ਰਣ (ਨੰਦੀ, ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗੀ ਆਦਿ) ਗੰਧਰਬ ਤੇ ਗਣੇਸ਼ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The gams, gandharvas and Gana et al. play instruments (for Him).
ਛਿਅਦਰਸਨਕਰਿਵੇਸਸਾਂਗਬਣਾਇਦੇ।
ਛੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ (ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਆਦਿ ਅਨੇਕ) ਵੰਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ) ਸਾਂਗ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ)।
The six philosophies also propound different garbs (for reaching Him).
ਗੁਰਚੇਲੇਉਪਦੇਸਕਰਮਕਮਾਇਦੇ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The gurus sermonize the disciples and the disciples act accordingly.
ਆਦਿਪੁਰਖੁਆਦੇਸੁਪਾਰੁਨਪਾਇਦੇ।੨।
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸ਼ਕਾਰ ਹੈ, (ਕੋਈ ਉਸਦਾ) ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ।
Salute to the primeval Lord who is unfathomable.
ਪਉੜੀ੩
ਪੀਰਪੈਕੰਬਰਹੋਇਕਰਦੇਬੰਦਗੀ।
(ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪੀਰ ਪੈਕੰਬਰ ਹੋਕੇ (ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The pirs and paigambars (messengers of Lord) worship Him.
ਸੇਖਮਸਾਇਕਹੋਇਕਰਿਮੁਹਛੰਦਗੀ।
ਸ਼ੇਖ, ਅਤੇ ਮਸ਼ਾਇਕ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਕੱਢਦੇ ਹਨ।
The shaikhs and many other worshippers remain in His shelter.
ਗਉਸਕੁਤਬਕਈਲੋਇਦਰਬਖਸੰਦਗੀ।
ਗਉਸ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਤਬ (ਆਦਿ) ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
The gaues and qutabs (spiritualists of Islam) of many places beg for His grace at His door.
ਦਰਦਰਵੇਸਖਲੋਇਮਸਤਮਸੰਦਗੀ।
(ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਦੇ) ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਪਰ ਫਕੀਰ ਹੋ ਖਲੋਤੇ ਮਸਤ ਤੇ ਅਵਧੂਤ (ਰੂਪ) ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Dervishs in their trance stand at His gate to receive (alms from Him)
ਵਲੀਉਲਹਸੁਣਿਸੋਇਕਰਨਿਪਸੰਦਗੀ।
ਅੱਲਹ ਦੇ ਵਲੀ (ਇਕ ਦਰਜੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਲੋਕ) (ਸੋਇ=) ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਯਥਾ:- ਸੋਇ ਸੁਣੰਦੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਾ)।
Listening to the praises of that Lord many walls also love Him.
ਦਰਗਹਵਿਰਲਾਕੋਇਬਖਤਬਲੰਦਗੀ।੩।
ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A rare person of high fortune reaches His court.
ਪਉੜੀ੪
ਸੁਣਿਆਖਾਣਿਵਖਾਣੁਆਖਿਵਖਾਣਿਆ।
(ਲੋਕ) 'ਅਖਾਣਾ' (ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਰਣਨ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਆਖ ਕੇ (ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ) ਵਖਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
People go on explaining disconnected rumours
ਹਿੰਦੂਮੁਸਲਮਾਣੁਨਸਚੁਸਿਞਾਣਿਆ।
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆਂ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਤੀਤ ਹੋਕੇ ਖੋਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ)।
But none of the Hindus and Muslims has identified the truth.
ਦਰਗਹਪਤਿਪਰਵਾਣੁਮਾਣੁਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ।
(ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਦੀ) ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿਖੇ (ਉਸਦੀ) ਪਤ ਪਰਵਾਣ ਪਈ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਮਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਹੋਕੇ) ਨਿਮਾਣਾਪਨ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
Only an humble person is accepted respectfully in the court of the Lord.
ਵੇਦਕਤੇਬਕੁਰਾਣੁਨਅਖਰਜਾਣਿਆ।
ਵੇਦ, ਕਤੇਬ, ਅਰ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਨੇ (ਆਖਰ) ਓੜਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਤਾ ('ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਤਾ ਕੇਵਡੁ ਚੀਰਾ। ') ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਹੱਦ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਹੈ)।
The Vedas, katebas and the 'Qur'an (i.e. all the scriptures of world) also know not even a single word about Him.
ਦੀਨਦੁਨੀਹੈਰਾਣੁਚੋਜਵਿਡਾਣਿਆ।
ਦੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ (ਭਾਵ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਾਰੇ) ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਕੇ (ਪੰਜੇ ਉਂਗਲੀਆਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿ ਉਸਦੇ) ਕੌਤਕ ਵਡੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ।
The whole world is wonder-struck to see his wondrous deeds.
ਕਾਦਰਨੋਕੁਰਬਾਣੁਕੁਦਰਤਿਮਾਣਿਆ।੪।
(ਤਾਂਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਦਰ=) ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਥੋਂ (ਅਸੀਂ) ਕੁਰਬਾਣ (=ਵਾਰਨੇ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ, (ਆਪਣੀ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਦਾ ਆਪ ਮਾਣ) ਆਸਰਾ (ਕਾਰਨ) ਹੈ।
I am sacrifice unto that creator who Himself is the basic grandeur of His creation.
ਪਉੜੀ੫
ਲਖਲਖਰੂਪਸਰੂਪਅਨੂਪਸਿਧਾਵਹੀ।
ਕਈ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਮਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ) ('ਸਿਧਾਵਹੀ'=) ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions of beauteous persons come to and go from this world
ਰੰਗਬਿਰੰਗਸੁਰੰਗਤਰੰਗਬਣਾਵਹੀ।
(ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੀਯ ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਰੰਗ, ਰੰਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ, ਅਰ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰੰਗਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਕੌਤਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions of beauteous persons come to and go from this world and perform variegated activities.
ਰਾਗਨਾਦਵਿਸਮਾਦਗੁਣਨਿਧਿਗਾਵਹੀ।
ਕਈ ਰਾਗ ਕਈ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ ਜੋ (ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ) ਨੂੰ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The rags (melodies) and nods (sounds) also being wonder-struck eulogise that ocean of attributes (the Lord).
ਰਸਕਸਲਖਸੁਆਦਚਖਿਚਖਾਵਹੀ।
ਕਈ ਰਸ ਕਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੱਖ ਸੁਵਾਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪ) ਚੱਖਕੇ (ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਚਖਾਂਵਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)।
Millions taste and make others taste the edibles and inedibles.
ਗੰਧਸੁਗੰਧਕਰੋੜਿਮਹਿਮਹਕਾਵਈ।
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਗੰਧੀਆਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਲਗ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ (ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਥੇ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ) ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਿਕਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Crores of people manage to make others enjoy the fragrance and varied smells.
ਗੈਰਮਹਲਿਸੁਲਤਾਨਮਹਲੁਨਪਾਵਹੀ।੫।
(ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਯਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਲੱਗਕੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ) ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਥੋਂ ਗੈਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ (ਓਪਰੇ ਯਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ) (ਉਹ ਲੋਕ) ਮਹਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ (ਭਾਵ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਹੁੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਯਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਗੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਓਹ ਸਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਸਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
But those who consider the Lord of this (body) mansion as an alien, they all cannot attain His mansion.
ਪਉੜੀ੬
ਸਿਵਸਕਤੀਦਾਮੇਲੁਦੁਬਿਧਾਹੋਵਈ।
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਸਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਦੋ ਬਿਧਾਂ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। (ਸ਼ਿਵ=ਉਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਜੋ ਚੇਤਨ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਕਤੀ=ਉਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਜੋ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਹੈ। ਤੀਜਾ ਇਸ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਥੂਲ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਚਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਦ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ)।
The confluence of Siva and the Sakti is the root cause of this creation full of duality.
ਤ੍ਰੈਗੁਣਮਾਇਆਖੇਲੁਭਰਿਭਰਿਧੋਵਈ।
ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ (ਰਜੋ, ਤਮੋ, ਸਤੋ ਰੂਪ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਖੇਲ ਹੋਇਆ (ਲੋਕ ਅਵਗੁਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਭਰ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਧੋਣ ਲਗ ਪਏ (ਭਾਵ ਰਜੋ ਤਮੋ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਰਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਸਤੋ ਗੁਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
The maya with her three gunas (qualities – rajas, tamas and salty) plays her games and sometimes fills the man (with hopes and desires) and at another time empties him totally frustrating his plans.
ਚਾਰਿਪਦਾਰਥਭੇਲੁਹਾਰਪਰੋਵਈ।
ਚਾਰ (ਧਰਮ, ਅਰਥ, ਕਾਮ, ਮੋਖ) ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਕੇ ਹਾਰ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ (ਗਲ ਵਿਖੇ) ਪੁਰੋਂਦੇ (ਭਾਵ ਇਥੇ ਸੁਖੀ, ਅਰ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ)
Maya deludes people through the cyclic garlands of dharma, arth, cam and mokc (four supposed ideals of life) offered by her to man.
ਪੰਜਿਤਤਪਰਵੇਲਅੰਤਿਵਿਗੋਵਈ।
(ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤਮੋ ਗੁਣੀ ਲੋਕ) ਪੰਜ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਤਲੇ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਖ ਕਰ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਜਨਮ ਧਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫੇਰ ਕੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੇ।
But man, the sum total of five elements, perishes ultimately.
ਛਿਅਰੁਤਿਬਾਰਹਮਾਹਹਸਿਹਸਿਰੋਵਈ।
ਬਾਰਾਂ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਛੀ ਰੁੱਤਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੱਸ ਹੱਸ ਕੇ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The jiv (creature), laughs, weeps and wails during all the six seasons and twelve months of his life
ਰਿਧਿਸਿਧਿਨਵਨਿਧਿਨੀਦਨਸੋਵਈ।੬।
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ, ਇਕ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਵ ਨਹੀਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸਿਧ ਬੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਅਰ) ਰਿੱਧਾਂ ਸਿੱਧਾਂ ਤੇ ਨੌਂ ਨਿਧਾਂ ਬੀ (ਪਾ ਲੈਣ ਤਦ ਬੀ) ਨਿਰਵਿਕਲਪ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਂਦੇ।
And imbued with the pleasures of the miraculous powers (given him by the Lord) never attains peace and equipoise.

ਸਹਸਸਿਆਣਪਲਖਕੰਮਿਨਆਵਹੀ।
ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ (“ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਤ ਇਕੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਲਿ”)।
Millions of skills make no avail.
ਗਿਆਨਧਿਆਨਉਨਮਾਨੁਅੰਤੁਨਪਾਵਹੀ।
ਕਈ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਈ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਕਈ ਉਨਮਾਨੀ ਬੀ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
Myriads of knowledges, concentrations and inferences are unable to know the mysteries of Lord.
ਲਖਸਸੀਅਰਲਖਭਾਨੁਅਹਿਨਿਸਿਧ੍ਯਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸੂਰਜ, ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ) ਧਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਹਿੰਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਲੱਖਾਂ (ਲੋਕ) ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਮਗ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ (ਅਰ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਲੱਜ (ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ)।
Millions are worshipping the Lord according to their own religious traditions.
ਲਖਲਖਦੀਨਈਮਾਨਤਾੜੀਲਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਨ ਦੇ ਈਮਾਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ,

ਪਰ ਜੋ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹੋ ਹੀ) ਸਚ (ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਖੇ) ਸਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Only through loving devotion one can merge in the Lord, the absolute truth.

ਲਖਪੀਰਪਤਿਸਾਹਪਰਚੇਲਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ (ਭਾਵ ਵਡੇ ਪੀਰ) ਕਰਾਮਾਤਾਂ ਲਾਉਣੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਚਾਉਂਦੇ) ਹਨ।
Millions of spiritualists and emperors confuse the public.
ਜੋਗਭੋਗਲਖਰਾਹਸੰਗਿਚਲਾਵਹੀ।
ਜੋਗ ਅਤੇ ਭੋਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰਾਹ ਕੱਢਕੇ ਮੰਡਲੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਕਈ ਜੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਭੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਇਹ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਦੋਹਾ:- 'ਮਾਨਸ' ਕੋ ਅਵਾਤਰ ਧਰ ਕਰ ਲੈ ਮੌਜ ਬਹਾਰ। ਨਰਕ ਸੁਰਗ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਪਰ ਮਾਰ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਹਜਾਰ')।
Millions adopt yoga and bhog (enjoyment) simultaneously
ਦੀਨਦੁਨੀਅਸਗਾਹਹਾਥਿਨਪਾਵਹੀ।
(ਏਹ ਲੋਕ ਬੀ) ਨਾ ਦੀਨ ਨਾ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ) ਅਸਗਾਹ ਹਨ।
But they cannot fathom the divine who is beyond all the religions and the world.
ਕਟਕਮੁਰੀਦਪਨਾਹਸੇਵਕਮਾਵਹੀ।
ਕਈ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ (ਪੀਰ ਦੀ) ਸ਼ਰਨ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Myriads of servants serve him
ਅੰਤੁਨਸਿਫਤਿਸਲਾਹਆਖਿਸੁਣਾਵਹੀ।
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫਤ ਦੇ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ' (ਕਈ ਏਹ ਬਾਤ) ਆਖਕੇ ਸਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
But their praises and eulogies cannot know his extent.
ਲਉਬਾਲੀਦਰਗਾਹਖੜੇਧਿਆਵਹੀ।੮।
ਕਈ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜੋਕੇ ਧਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
All standing at His court adore that anxiety-free Lord.

ਲਖਸਾਹਿਬਿਸਿਰਦਾਰਆਵਣਜਾਵਣੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ 'ਸਾਹਿਬ' (ਸਭਾ ਸੀਂਗਾਰ) (ਲੱਖਾਂ 'ਸਰਦਾਰ') ਰਈਸ ਲੋਕ ਆਂਵਦੇ ਜਾਦੇ ਹਨ।
Many masters and leaders come and go.
ਲਖਵਡੇਦਰਬਾਰਬਣਤਬਣਾਵਣੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਡੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅਰ ਜਲਸੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਲ।
Many majestic courts exist and their stores are so full of wealth
ਦਰਬਭਰੇਭੰਡਾਰਗਣਤਗਣਾਵਣੇ।
(ਕਈ) ਮਾਯਾ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰਕੇ ਗਿਣਤੀਆ ਹੀ ਗਿਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
That continuous counting goes on there (to avoid any deficiency).
ਪਰਵਾਰੈਸਾਧਾਰਬਿਰਦਸਦਾਵਣੇ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਪਦਵੀ 'ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰ' ਸਦਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਏ)।
Many becoming helping hand to many families are sticking to their words and protect their reputation.
ਲੋਭਮੋਹਅਹੰਕਾਰਧੋਹਕਮਾਵਣੇ।
(ਕਈ) ਲੋਭ, ਮੋਹ, ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਛਲਾਂ (ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਮਰ ਕੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ।
Many, controlled by greed, infatuation and ego, go on swindling and cheating.
ਕਰਦੇਚਾਰੁਵੀਚਾਰਿਦਹਦਿਸਿਧਾਵਣੇ।
ਕਈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਦਸੋਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਦੌੜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਲਾਭ ਹੋਵੇ)
Many are there who talking and discoursing sweetly wander in all the ten directions.

ਲੱਖਾਂ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਹੰਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਚਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਅਥਵਾ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਐਸੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਚਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੀ ਸਿਾਣ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਪਰ ਪਾਠਾਂਤ੍ਰ-'ਸਜਰ ਕਵਾਰ' - ਪੱਥਰ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਲਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ)।
Millions are old people who are still swinging their mind in the hopes and desires.

Millions are the generous persons who beg and bestow upon others.
ਅਉਤਰਿਲਖਅਵਤਾਰਕਾਰਕਰੇਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਾਰਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions are incarnations (of gods) who having born have performed many acts
ਅੰਤੁਨਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁਖੇਵਟਖੇਵਹੀ।
ਮਲਾਹ ਲੋਕ (ਆਗੂ) ਚੱਪੇ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਅੰਤ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ (ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਚਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ)।
Many boatmen have rowed but none could know the extent and end of the world ocean.
ਵੀਚਾਰੀਵੀਚਾਰਿਭੇਤੁਨਦੇਵਹੀ।
ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰੰਤੂ) ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ।
The thinkers also could know nothing about His mystery.
ਕਰਤੂਤੀਆਚਾਰਿਕਰਿਜਸੁਲੇਵਹੀ।
ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ ਕਰਨਹਾਰੇ 'ਅਚਾਰ' (ਯੱਗ ਆਦਿਕ) ਵਡੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੱਸ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The thinkers also could know nothing about His mystery.
ਲਖਲਖਜੇਵਣਹਾਰਜੇਵਣਜੇਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਖਵਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰਸੋਈਆਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions are eating and feeding others and
ਲਖਦਰਗਹਦਰਬਾਰਸੇਵਕਸੇਵਹੀ।੧੦।
ਲੱਖਾਂ (ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ) ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਤੇ ਕਚਹਿਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੋਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ('ਇਕਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ')।
Millions are there who are serving the transcendental Lord and also in the courts of worldly kings.

ਸੂਰਵੀਰਵਰੀਆਮਜੋਰੁਜਣਾਵਹੀ।
(ਸੂਰਬੀਰ) ਬਲੀ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਅਰ 'ਅਤਿਰਥੀ' (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣਾ) ਬਲ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
The valiant soldiers show their powers
ਸੁਣਿਸੁਣਿਸੁਰਤੇਲਖਆਖਿਸੁਣਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ (ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣਕੇ (ਫੇਰ) ਆਖਕੇ ਵ੍ਯਾਖ੍ਯਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions of the listeners explain His praises.
ਖੋਜੀਖੋਜਨਿਖੋਜਿਦਹਿਦਿਸਿਧਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਖੋਜੀ ਖੋਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਸੋਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੌੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
Researchers also run in all the ten directions.
ਚਿਰਜੀਵੈਲਖਹੋਇਨਓੜਕੁਪਾਵਹੀ।
ਲਖਾਂ ਚਿਰਕਾਲ ਜੀਵਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇਯ ਆਦਿਕ ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਜੀਵੇ) ਹੋਕੇ (ਬੀ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ) ਓੜਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ।
Millions of long-lived ones have happened but none could know the mystery of that Lord
ਖਰੇਸਿਆਣੇਹੋਇਨਮਨੁਸਮਝਾਵਹੀ।
ਬਾਹਲੇ 'ਸਿਆਣੇ' (ਚਤੁਰ ਹੋਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਸਮਝੌਤੀਆਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।
Even being clever, people do not make their minds understand (the futility of rituals and other allied hypocrisies)
ਲਉਬਾਲੀਦਰਗਾਹਚੋਟਾਂਖਾਵਹੀ।੧੧।
ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਜ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
And ultimately get punished at the court of the Lord.

ਹਿਕਮਤਿਲਖਹਕੀਮਚਲਤਬਣਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹਕੀਮ ਲੋਕ 'ਹਿਕਮਤ' (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਚਕਿਤਸਾ) ਦੇ ਚਲਿੱਤ੍ਰ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਚੰਗੇ ਨੁਸਖੇ, ਯਾ ਇਲਾਜ ਲਈ ਦਾਰੂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Physicians prepare myriads of prescriptions.
ਆਕਲਹੋਇਫਹੀਮਮਤੇਮਤਾਵਹੀ।
(ਕਈ) ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਸੋਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਮਤੇ ਪਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ? (ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਉੱਨਤੀ ਕਿੱਕੁਰਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ?)।
Millions of people full of wisdom adopt many a resolution.
ਗਾਫਲਹੋਇਗਨੀਮਵਾਦਵਧਾਵਹੀ।
ਕਈ ਗਫਲਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਅਨਗਹਿਲੇ ਹੋਕੇ) ਵੈਰ ਤੇ ਝਗੜਾ ਵਧਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਥਵਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਜੋ ਗਾਫਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਝਗੜੇ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Many enemies unwittingly go on increasing their enmity.
ਲੜਿਲੜਿਕਰਨਿਮੁਹੀਮਆਪੁਗਣਾਵਹੀ।
(ਕਈ) ਲੜ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਮੁਹਿੰਮਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਜੋਧੇ ਹਾਂ)।
They march for fightings and thus show their ego
ਹੋਇਜਦੀਦਕਦੀਮਨਖੁਦੀਮਿਟਾਵਹੀ।
ਨਵੀਂ ਉਮਰ ਥੋਂ ਲੈ ਬੁੱਢੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ) ਖੁਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੁਆਉਂਦੇ (ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ “ਖੁਦੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਤਬ ਸੁਖ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭਏ ਅਰੋਗ॥ “)
From youth, though, they step in old age yet their egotism is not effaced.
ਸਾਬਰੁਹੋਇਹਲੀਮਆਪੁਗਵਾਵਹੀ।੧੨।
(ਜਿਹੜੇ) ਸੰਤੋਖ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਕੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਣਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, (ਓਹ) ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਗੁਆ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Only the contented and the humble lose their sense of egocentricity.

ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪੀਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦੇ (ਭਾਵ ਇਕੱਠ ਕਰ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ)।

ਸੁਹਦੇਲਖਸਹੀਦਜਾਰਤਲਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਹਦੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ (ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਪਰ) ਜ਼੍ਯਾਰਤਾਂ (ਮੇਲੇ) ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Myriads of beggers ave pilgrimages at the martyries.
ਲਖਰੋਜੇਲਖਈਦਨਿਵਾਜਕਰਾਵਹੀ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰੋਜ਼ੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਈਦਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਨਿਮਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions of people observe fasts (roza) and offer namaz (prayer) of id.
ਕਰਿਕਰਿਗੁਫਤਸੁਨੀਦਮਨਪਰਚਾਵਹੀ।
(ਹੋਰ ਕਈ) ਉਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹਿਲਾਉਂਦੇ (ਸਮਾਂ ਕੱਟਦੇ) ਹਨ।
Many entice their minds by being busy in questioning and answering.
ਹੁਜਰੇਕੁਲਫਕਲੀਦਜੁਹਦਕਮਾਵਹੀ।
(ਮਨ ਰੂਪ) ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਜੰਦਰੇ ਦੀ ਕੁੰਜੀ (ਜ਼ੁਹਦ) ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Many are engaged in preparing the key of evotion for opening the lock of mind's temple.
ਦਰਿਦਰਵੇਸਰਸੀਦਨਆਪੁਜਣਾਵਹੀ।੧੩।
(ਪਰੰਤੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ) ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਪਰ ਪਹੁੰਚ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਆਪਾ ਜਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੁਦੀ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ)।
But those Who by becoming dervish at the door of Lord have become acceptable, never show their individuality.

ਉਚੇਮਹਲਉਸਾਰਿਵਿਛਾਇਵਿਛਾਵਣੇ।
(ਦੁਨੀਆਂਦਾਰ) ਲੋਕ ਉੱਚੇ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਾਰਕੇ (ਦਰੀਆਂ ਗਲੀਚੇ ਆਦਿ ਬਿਸਤਰੇ) ਵਿਛਾਂਵਦੇ ਹਨ।
Tall palaces are erected and carpets are spread therein,
ਵਡੇਦੁਨੀਆਦਾਰਨਾਉਗਣਾਵਣੇ।

ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਕੋਟ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤਣਵਾਕੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ('ਜਿਨਿ ਗੜ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਇਆ ਸੋ ਰਾਵਨੂ”ੇ
Constructing thousands of forts people rule over them
ਲਖਲਖਮਨਸਬਦਾਰਵਜਹਵਧਾਵਣੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਅਹੁਦੇਦਾਰ ਲੱਖ (ਰੁਪਯੇ ਤੀਕ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਮਾਹਵਾਰੀ ਤਲਬਾਂ ਵਧਵਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
And millions of officers sing panegyrics in the honour of their rulers.
ਪੂਰਭਰੇਅਹੰਕਾਰਆਵਨਜਾਵਣੇ।
(ਪਰ ਐਸੇ) ਪੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਂਏ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Such people full of their self-esteems go on transmigrating from
ਤਿਤੁਸਚੇਦਰਬਾਰਖਰੇਡਰਾਵਣੇ।੧੪।
(ਏਹ) ਉਸ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ) ਸੱਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਖਰੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
And to this world and look uglier in the true court of the Lord.

ਤੀਰਥਲਖਕਰੋੜਿਪੁਰਬੀਨਾਵਣਾ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ (ਵਾਰ) ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਪੁਰ ਪੁਰਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨੇ।
Millions of bathings at pilgrimage centres on auspicious occasions;
ਦੇਵੀਦੇਵਸਥਾਨਸੇਵਕਰਾਵਣਾ।
ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਨੀ।
Serving at the places of gods and goddesses;
ਜਪਤਪਸੰਜਮਲਖਸਾਧਿਸਧਾਵਣਾ।
(ਲੱਖਾਂ) ਜਪ, ਤਪ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸੰਜਮ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਸਾਧਣੀਆਂ।
Observance of austerities and millions of praxis by being meditative and full of continence
ਹੋਮਜਗਨਈਵੇਦਭੋਗਲਗਾਵਣਾ।
ਹੋਮ, ਯੱਗ, ਨਈਵੇਦ (ਅਤੇ ਠਾਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਭੋਗ ਲਗਾਉਣੇ।
Offerings through yajn and horns etc;
ਵਰਤਨੇਮਲਖਦਾਨਕਰਮਕਮਾਵਣਾ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਰਤ, ਨੇਮ, ਦਾਨ (ਆਦਿ) ਕਰਨੇ।
Fasts, dos and donots and millions of charities (for the sake of show business)
ਲਉਬਾਲੀਦਰਗਾਹਪਖੰਡਨਜਾਵਣਾ।੧੫।
(ਉਸ) ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਸਭਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਏਹ ਪਖੰਡ ਹਨ, (ਨਾਲ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣੇ।
Have absolutely no meaning in that true court of the Lord.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੬
ਪੋਪਲੀਆਂਭਰਨਾਲਿਲਖਤਰੰਦੀਆਂ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸਰਨਾਈਆਂ (ਜਾਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਤਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
Millions of leather bags (boats) go on floating on water
ਓੜਕਓੜਕਭਾਲਿਸੁਧਿਨਲਹੰਦੀਆਂ।
(ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ) ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਓੜਕ (ਜਤਨ) ਨਾਲ ਭਾਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਪਰੰਤੂ 'ਸੁਧ') ਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦੀਆਂ।
But even searching the vast ocean they do not find possible to know the ends of the ocean.
ਅਨਲਮਨਲਕਰਿਖਿਆਲਉਮਗਿਉਡੰਦੀਆਂ।
ਅਨਲ ਮਨਲ (ਪੰਛੀ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ) ਖਿਆਲ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਡਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The lines of anil birds fly high to know about the sky but their jumps and
ਉਛਲਿਕਰਨਿਉਛਾਲਨਉਭਿਚੜ੍ਹੰਦੀਆਂ।
(ਅਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਡਾ ਬੀ ਉਤਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਛਲਕੇ ਛਾਲਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ('ਉਭ') ਅਕਾਸ਼ (ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ।
Upward flights do not take them to the highest borders of sky.
ਲਖਅਗਾਸਪਤਾਲਕਰਿਮੁਹਛੰਦੀਆਂ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਪਤਾਲ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀਆਂ) ਮੁਥਾਜੀਆਂ ਕੱਢਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਪਤਾਲ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਲੋਕ ਲਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਦੰਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਲਕਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Millions of skies and nether worlds (and their inhabitants) are beggars before Him and
ਦਰਗਹਇਕਰਵਾਲਬੰਦੇਬੰਦੀਆਂ।੧੬।
(ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਅਰ ਬੰਦੀਆਂ (ਦਾਸ) ਦਾਸੀਆਂ ਅਗੇ ਏਹ) ਇਕ ਰਵਾਲ (ਕਿਣਕੇ) ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹਨ।
Before the servants of God's court are nothing more than a particle of dust.

ਤ੍ਰੈਗੁਣਮਾਇਆਖੇਲੁਕਰਿਦੇਖਾਲਿਆ।
ਮਾਯਾ ਦ੍ਵਾਰੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ (ਰਜੋ, ਤਮੋ, ਸਤੋ) ਦਾ ਖੇਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
The Lord has produced this world as the play of the three dimensional maya.
ਖਾਣੀਬਾਣੀਚਾਰਿਚਲਤੁਉਠਾਲਿਆ।
(ਚਾਰ) ਖਾਣੀਆ (ਅੰਡਜ, ਜੇਰਜ, ਸ੍ਵੇਤਜ, ਅਤੇ ਉਤਭੁਜ) ਚਾਰੇ ਬਾਣੀਆਂ (ਪਰਾ, ਪਸੰਤੀ, ਮੱਧਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਖਰੀ) ਦਾ ਕੌਤਕ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
He has accomplished the feat of (the creation of) four life mines (egg, foetus, sweat, vegetation) and four speeches (pars, pasyanti, madhyama and vaikhar).
ਪੰਜਿਤਤਉਤਪਤਿਬੰਧਿਬਹਾਲਿਆ।
ਪੰਜ ਤਤ (ਅਪ, ਤੇਜ, ਵਾਯੂ, ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ, ਅਕਾਸ਼) ਉਤਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਨਿਯਮ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
Creating from the five elements he bound them all in a divine law.
ਛਿਅਰੁਤਿਬਾਰਹਮਾਹਸਿਰਜਿਸਮ੍ਹਾਲਿਆ।
ਛੀ ਰੁਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਰਾਂ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਰਚਕੇ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ (ਭਾਵ ਵਕਤ ਦਾ ਕੌਤਕ ਰਚਕੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਸਰੰਜਾਮ ਤੇ ਨਿਯਮ ਬੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਦਾ ਖੇਲ ਇਸ ਬਿਨ ਨਿਭਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ)।
He created and sustained the six seasons and the twelve months.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿਸੂਰਜਚੰਦੁਦੀਵੇਬਾਲਿਆ।
ਦਿਨ (ਦੇ ਲਈ) ਸੂਰਜ (ਤੇ) ਰਾਤ (ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਲਈ) ਚੰਦ (ਮਾਨੋਂ ਦੋ) ਦੀਵੇ ਬਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
For day and night He lit the sun and the moon as lamps.
ਇਕੁਕਵਾਉਪਸਾਉਨਦਰਿਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ।੧੭।
(ਏਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ) ਇਕ ਬਚਨ ਥੋਂ ਪਸਾਰਕੇ (ਆਪ) ਨਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਡਿੱਠਾ ('ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਡਿਠੋ ਚਾਉ')।
With one vibrational throb he expanded the whole creation and delighted it through his graceful glance.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੮
ਕੁਦਰਤਿਇਕੁਕਵਾਉਥਾਪਉਥਾਪਦਾ।
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਵਾਕ ਨਾਲ ਥਾਪਕੇ ਫੇਰ (ਉਥਾਪ ਕਹੀਏ) ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
With one word (sound) the Lord creates the universe and destroyes it.
ਤਿਦੂਲਖਦਰੀਆਉਨਓੜਕੁਜਾਪਦਾ।
ਉਸੇ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ) ਤੋਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦਰੀਆਉ (ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ, ਦੇਉਤੇ ਆਦਿ ਉਚੇਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ) ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
From that very Lord myriads of life streams have emerged and there is no end to them.
ਲਖਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਸਮਾਉਨਲਹਰਿਵਿਆਪਦਾ।
ਉਸਦੇ (ਇਕ ਇਕ ਰੋਮ ਵਿਖੇ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਪ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ) ਲਹਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪ ਕਦੇ ਬਦਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਕ ਰਸ ਤ੍ਰ੍ਰੈਕਾਲ ਅਬਾਧ ਰੂਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Millions of universes subsume in Him but He is uninfluenced by any of them.
ਕਰਿਕਰਿਵੇਖੈਚਾਉਲਖਪਰਤਾਪਦਾ।
(ਉਹ ਅਪਣੀ ਰਚਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਚਾਉ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਅਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
He sees His own activities with great enthusiasm and makes many a man glorious
ਕਉਣੁਕਰੈਅਰਥਾਉਵਰਨਸਰਾਪਦਾ।
ਕੌਣ ਉਸਦੇ (ਅਰਥਾਉ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂ) ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਵਰ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਸਰਾਪ ਦਾ (ਅਤੇ)
Who can decode the mystery and meaning of the principle of His boons and curses?
ਲਹੈਨਪਛੋਤਾਉਪੁੰਨੁਨਪਾਪਦਾ।੧੮।
ਨਾ ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾ ਨ ਪਾਪ ਦਾ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਹੈ।
He accepts not only the (mental) repentance of sins and virtues (and accepts the good deeds).
ਪਉੜੀ੧੯
ਕੁਦਰਤਿਅਗਮੁਅਥਾਹੁਅੰਤੁਨਪਾਈਐ।
(ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਰਚਨਾ ਅਗਮ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ (ਉਸਦਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
Creation, the power of the Lord is unrpproachable and unfathomable.
ਕਾਦਰੁਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੁਕਿਨਪਰਚਾਈਐ।
ਕਰਤਾ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਕੌਣ ਪਰਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਏ, (ਭਾਵ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ। ਯਥਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਖਵਾਕ:-'ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਿਣਾਵਣੈ॥ ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਾਵਣੇ॥ ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਈਐ॥ ਨਾ ਤੂ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਸਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਧਾਈਐ”॥)
Nobody can know its extent. That creator is without any anxiety;how could He be persuaded and amused.
ਕੇਵਡੁਹੈਦਰਗਾਹਆਖਿਸੁਣਾਈਐ।
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਕਿੱਡੀਕੁ ਹੈ ਆਖਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਓ ਤਾਂ ਸਹੀ?
How the majesty of His court could be described.
ਕੋਇਨਦਸੈਰਾਹੁਕਿਤੁਬਿਧਿਜਾਈਐ।
ਕੋਈ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕਿੱਕੁਰ (ਉਥੇ) ਜਾਈਏ।
None is there to tell the way and means leading to Him.
ਕੇਵਡੁਸਿਫਤਿਸਲਾਹਕਿਉਕਰਿਧਿਆਈਐ।
ਕਿੱਡੀਕੁ (ਉਸਦੀ) ਸਿਫਤ (ਬਾਣੀ ਕਰਕੇ) ਸਲਾਹੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਧਿਆਈਏ ਕਿਕੂੰ (ਮਨ ਉਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ)।
This is also incomprehensible that how infinite are his eulogies and how should He be concentrated upon.
ਅਬਿਗਤਿਗਤਿਅਸਗਾਹੁਨਅਲਖੁਲਖਾਈਐ।੧੯।
(ਉਸਦੀ) ਗਤਿ (ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਅਥਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਕਠਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਗਾਹ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਅਲਖ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
The dynamics of the Lord is unmanifest, deep and unfathomable; it cannot be known.
ਪਉੜੀ੨੦
ਆਦਿਪੁਰਖੁਪਰਮਾਦਿਅਚਰਜੁਆਖੀਐ।
ਆਦੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ (ਪਰੰਤੂ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਦਿ ਦਾ ਸਮਯ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਣੇ ਕਰ) ਪਰਮਾਦਿ (ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ) (ਆਦਿ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਅਚਰਜ (ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ) ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
The primeval Lord is said to be the supreme wonder.
ਆਦਿਅਨੀਲੁਅਨਾਦਿਸਬਦੁਨਸਾਖੀਐ।
ਆਦ ਹੈ, ਅਕਲੰਕ ਹੈ, ਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, (ਕੋਈ ਸਾਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਕਿੱਡਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਕਹੋ ਕਿ ਹੋਰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰ ਸਬਦ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਹੈ; ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਬੀ ਨੇਤਿ ਨੇਤਿ ਕਹਿਕੇ ਹੀ ਖਹਿੜਾ ਛੁਡਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਸਬਦ (ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਬੀ) ਸਾਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
The words also fail to tell about the beginning of that beginningless.
ਵਰਤੈਆਦਿਜੁਗਾਦਿਨਗਲੀਗਾਖੀਐ।
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ, ਪਰ) ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
He operates in the time and even before the time primordial and mere discussions cannot explain Him.
ਭਗਤਿਵਛਲੁਅਛਲਾਦਿਸਹਜਿਸੁਭਾਖੀਐ।
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਆਪ) ਆਦ ਥੋਂ ਅਛਲ ਹੈ ਸਹਿਜ (ਯਥਾਰਥ ਹੈ, ਅਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੀਤ) ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
He, the protector and lover of the devotees is undeceivable known by the name of the equipoise.
ਉਨਮਨਿਅਨਹਦਿਨਾਦਿਲਿਵਅਭਿਲਾਖੀਐ।
(ਜਦ) ਉਨਮਨ (ਤੁਰੀਆ ਪਦ) ਵਿਖੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ (ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦ) ਅਭਿਲਾਖੀ ਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵ ਉਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਕੀਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਦਾ ਅਭਿਲਾਖ ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ)।
The desire of the consciousness is to remain merged in His unstruck melody heard in the trance.
ਵਿਸਮਾਦੈਵਿਸਮਾਦਪੂਰਨਪਾਖੀਐ।
ਤਦੋਂ ਕੀ ਹੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ?) (ਆਪ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ) ਅਚਰਜ (ਹੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ)।
He, being full of all dimensions, is the wonder of the wonders.
ਪੂਰੈਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦਿਕੇਵਲਕਾਖੀਐ।੨੦।੨੧।ਇਕੀਹ।
ਕੇਵਲ (ਇਕ) ਪੂਰਣ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ) ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਹੀ (ਉਸਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਧਨ) ਚਾਹੀਏ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਸੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Now the only desire remains that the grace of the perfect Guru be with me (so that I may realise the Lord).
