ਗੁਣਰਮੰਤਦੂਖਨਾਸਹਿਰਿਦਭਇਅੰਤਸਾਂਤਿ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Uttering His Glorious Praises, suffering is eradicated, and the heart becomes tranquil and calm. ||3||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾਰਸੁਪੀਉਰਸਨਾਨਾਨਕਹਰਿਰੰਗਿਰਾਤ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥
Drink in the Sweet, Sublime Ambrosial Nectar, O Nanak, and be imbued with the Love of the Lord. ||4||4||15||

ਸਾਜਨਾਸੰਤਆਉਮੇਰੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
O friends, O Saints, come to me. ||1||Pause||
ਆਨਦਾਗੁਨਗਾਇਮੰਗਲਕਸਮਲਾਮਿਟਿਜਾਹਿਪਰੇਰੈ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! (ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord with pleasure and joy, the sins will be erased and thrown away. ||1||
ਸੰਤਚਰਨਧਰਉਮਾਥੈਚਾਂਦਨਾਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਹੋਇਅੰਧੇਰੈ॥੨॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Touch your forehead to the feet of the Saints, and your dark household shall be illumined. ||2||
ਸੰਤਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿਕਮਲੁਬਿਗਸੈਗੋਬਿੰਦਭਜਉਪੇਖਿਨੇਰੈ॥੩॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-) ਕੌਲ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
By the Grace of the Saints, the heart-lotus blossoms forth. Vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, and see Him near at hand. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਤੇਸੰਤਪਾਏਵਾਰਿਵਾਰਿਨਾਨਕਉਹਬੇਰੈ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਜਦੋਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ) ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥
By the Grace of God, I have found the Saints. Over and over again, Nanak is a sacrifice to that moment. ||4||5||16||

ਚਰਨਸਰਨਗੋਪਾਲਤੇਰੀ॥
ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
I seek the Sanctuary of Your Lotus Feet, O Lord of the World.
ਮੋਹਮਾਨਧੋਹਭਰਮਰਾਖਿਲੀਜੈਕਾਟਿਬੇਰੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੋਹ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ, ਠੱਗੀ, ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀਆਂ) ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Save me from emotional attachment, pride, deception and doubt; please cut away these ropes which bind me. ||1||Pause||
ਬੂਡਤਸੰਸਾਰਸਾਗਰ॥
ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਜੀਵ-
I am drowning in the world-ocean.
ਉਧਰੇਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਿਰਤਨਾਗਰ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the Source of Jewels, I am saved. ||1||
ਸੀਤਲਾਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਤੇਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਠੰਢ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
Your Name, Lord, is cooling and soothing.
ਪੂਰਨੋਠਾਕੁਰਪ੍ਰਭੁਮੇਰਾ॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
God, my Lord and Master, is Perfect. ||2||
ਦੀਨਦਰਦਨਿਵਾਰਿਤਾਰਨ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
You are the Deliverer, the Destroyer of the sufferings of the meek and the poor.
ਹਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਿਪਤਿਤਉਧਾਰਨ॥੩॥
ਹਰੀ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
The Lord is the Treasure of Mercy, the Saving Grace of sinners. ||3||
ਕੋਟਿਜਨਮਦੂਖਕਰਿਪਾਇਓ॥
(ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
I have suffered the pains of millions of incarnations.
ਸੁਖੀਨਾਨਕਗੁਰਿਨਾਮੁਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਖੀ (ਉਹੀ) ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥
Nanak is at peace; the Guru has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me. ||4||6||17||
ਕਾਨੜਾਮਹਲਾ੫॥
Kaanraa, Fifth Mahalaa:
ਧਨਿਉਹਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਚਰਨਸੰਗਿਲਾਗੀ॥
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
Blessed is that love, which is attuned to the Lord's Feet.
ਕੋਟਿਜਾਪਤਾਪਸੁਖਪਾਏਆਇਮਿਲੇਪੂਰਨਬਡਭਾਗੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਪਾਂ ਤਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
The peace which comes from millions of chants and deep meditations is obtained by perfect good fortune and destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਮੋਹਿਅਨਾਥੁਦਾਸੁਜਨੁਤੇਰਾਅਵਰਓਟਸਗਲੀਮੋਹਿਤਿਆਗੀ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਓਟ ਛੱਡ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am Your helpless servant and slave; I have given up all other support.
ਭੋਰਭਰਮਕਾਟੇਪ੍ਰਭਸਿਮਰਤਗਿਆਨਅੰਜਨਮਿਲਿਸੋਵਤਜਾਗੀ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਭਰਮ ਭੀ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, (ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤੀ ਜਾਗ ਪਈ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
Every trace of doubt has been eradicated, remembering God in meditation. I have applied the ointment of spiritual wisdom, and awakened from my sleep. ||1||
ਤੂਅਥਾਹੁਅਤਿਬਡੋਸੁਆਮੀਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਸਿੰਧੁਪੂਰਨਰਤਨਾਗੀ॥
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਥਾਹ ਦਇਆ-ਦਾ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਹੈਂ।
You are Unfathomably Great and Utterly Vast, O my Lord and Master, Ocean of Mercy, Source of Jewels.
ਨਾਨਕੁਜਾਚਕੁਹਰਿਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਮਾਂਗੈਮਸਤਕੁਆਨਿਧਰਿਓਪ੍ਰਭਪਾਗੀ॥੨॥੭॥੧੮॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ) ਮੰਗਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ) ਮੱਥਾ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੮॥
Nanak, the beggar, begs for the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; he rests his forehead upon God's Feet. ||2||7||18||

ਕੁਚਿਲਕਠੋਰਕਪਟਕਾਮੀ॥
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੰਦੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਠੱਗੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਹਾਂ।
I am filthy, hard-hearted, deceitful and obsessed with sexual desire.
ਜਿਉਜਾਨਹਿਤਿਉਤਾਰਿਸੁਆਮੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣਾ ਠੀਕ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Please carry me across, as You wish, O my Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂਸਮਰਥੁਸਰਨਿਜੋਗੁਤੂਰਾਖਹਿਅਪਨੀਕਲਧਾਰਿ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਨ-ਪਏ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ (ਆ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
You are All-powerful and Potent to grant Sanctuary. Exerting Your Power, You protect us. ||1||
ਜਾਪਤਾਪਨੇਮਸੁਚਿਸੰਜਮਨਾਹੀਇਨਬਿਧੇਛੁਟਕਾਰ॥
ਜਪ, ਤਪ, ਵਰਤ-ਨੇਮ; ਸਰੀਰਕ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ, ਸੰਜਮ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
Chanting and deep meditation, penance and austere self-discipline, fasting and purification - salvation does not come by any of these means.
ਗਰਤਘੋਰਅੰਧਤੇਕਾਢਹੁਪ੍ਰਭਨਾਨਕਨਦਰਿਨਿਹਾਰਿ॥੨॥੮॥੧੯॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੯॥
Please lift me up and out of this deep, dark ditch; O God, please bless Nanak with Your Glance of Grace. ||2||8||19||

ਰਾਗ ਕਾਨੜਾ, ਘਰ ੪ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।

ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਨਾਰਾਇਨਨਰਪਤਿਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਰੰਗ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The one who bows in humble reverence to the Primal Lord, the Lord of all beings
ਐਸੇਗੁਰਕਉਬਲਿਬਲਿਜਾਈਐਆਪਿਮੁਕਤੁਮੋਹਿਤਾਰੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਆਪ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
- I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to such a Guru; He Himself is liberated, and He carries me across as well. ||1||Pause||
ਕਵਨਕਵਨਕਵਨਗੁਨਕਹੀਐਅੰਤੁਨਹੀਕਛੁਪਾਰੈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
Which, which, which of Your Glorious Virtues should I chant? There is no end or limitation to them.
ਲਾਖਲਾਖਲਾਖਕਈਕੋਰੈਕੋਹੈਐਸੋਬੀਚਾਰੈ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਇਉਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ (ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
There are thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, many millions of them, but those who contemplate them are very rare. ||1||
