ਆਦਿਅੰਤਿਮਧਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਸੋਈ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਆਦਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੁਣ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
God exists in the beginning, in the middle and in the end.
ਆਪੇਕਰਤਾਕਰੇਸੁਹੋਈ॥
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Whatever the Creator Lord Himself does, comes to pass.
ਭ੍ਰਮੁਭਉਮਿਟਿਆਸਾਧਸੰਗਤੇਦਾਲਿਦਨਕੋਈਘਾਲਕਾ॥੬॥
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੬॥
Doubt and fear are erased, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and then one is not afflicted by deadly pain. ||6||
ਊਤਮਬਾਣੀਗਾਉਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ॥
ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ,
I sing the most Sublime Bani, the Word of the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਕੀਮੰਗਹੁਰਵਾਲਾ॥
(ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਕਰੋ,
I beg for the dust of the feet of the Saadh Sangat.
ਬਾਸਨਮੇਟਿਨਿਬਾਸਨਹੋਈਐਕਲਮਲਸਗਲੇਜਾਲਕਾ॥੭॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਾਸਨਾਂ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਸਾੜ ਲਈਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
Eradicating desire, I have become free of desire; I have burnt away all my sins. ||7||
ਸੰਤਾਕੀਇਹਰੀਤਿਨਿਰਾਲੀ॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਇਹ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਚਾਲ ਹੈ,
This is the unique way of the Saints;
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਕਰਿਦੇਖਹਿਨਾਲੀ॥
ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
they behold the Supreme Lord God with them.
ਸਾਸਿਸਾਸਿਆਰਾਧਨਿਹਰਿਹਰਿਕਿਉਸਿਮਰਤਕੀਜੈਆਲਕਾ॥੮॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਦੇ ਆਲਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ॥੮॥
With each and every breath, they worship and adore the Lord, Har, Har. How could anyone be too lazy to meditate on Him? ||8||
ਜਹਦੇਖਾਤਹਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਧਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ)।
Wherever I look, there I see the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਨਿਮਖਨਵਿਸਰਹੁਪ੍ਰਭਮੇਰੇਸੁਆਮੀ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਵਿਸਰ।
I never forget God, my Lord and Master, even for an instant.
ਸਿਮਰਿਸਿਮਰਿਜੀਵਹਿਤੇਰੇਦਾਸਾਬਨਿਜਲਿਪੂਰਨਥਾਲਕਾ॥੯॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਥਲ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ॥੯॥
Your slaves live by meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord; You are permeating the woods, the water and the land. ||9||
ਤਤੀਵਾਉਨਤਾਕਉਲਾਗੈ॥
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
Even the hot wind does not touch one
ਸਿਮਰਤਨਾਮੁਅਨਦਿਨੁਜਾਗੈ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
who remains awake in meditative remembrance, night and day.
ਅਨਦਬਿਨੋਦਕਰੇਹਰਿਸਿਮਰਨੁਤਿਸੁਮਾਇਆਸੰਗਿਨਤਾਲਕਾ॥੧੦॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
He delights and enjoys meditative remembrance on the Lord; he has no attachment to Maya. ||10||
ਰੋਗਸੋਗਦੂਖਤਿਸੁਨਾਹੀ॥
ਉਸ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ,
Disease, sorrow and pain do not affect him;
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਹਰਿਕੀਰਤਨੁਗਾਹੀ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਆਪਣਾਨਾਮੁਦੇਹਿਪ੍ਰਭਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਸੁਣਿਬੇਨੰਤੀਖਾਲਕਾ॥੧੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਭੀ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ ॥੧੧॥
Please bless me with Your Name, O my Beloved Lord God; please listen to my prayer, O Creator. ||11||
ਨਾਮਰਤਨੁਤੇਰਾਹੈਪਿਆਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ।
Your Name is a jewel, O my Beloved Lord.
ਰੰਗਿਰਤੇਤੇਰੈਦਾਸਅਪਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Your slaves are imbued with Your Infinite Love.
ਤੇਰੈਰੰਗਿਰਤੇਤੁਧੁਜੇਹੇਵਿਰਲੇਕੇਈਭਾਲਕਾ॥੧੨॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੨॥
Those who are imbued with Your Love, become like You; it is so rare that they are found. ||12||
ਤਿਨਕੀਧੂੜਿਮਾਂਗੈਮਨੁਮੇਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
My mind longs for the dust of the feet of those
ਜਿਨਵਿਸਰਹਿਨਾਹੀਕਾਹੂਬੇਰਾ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
who never forget the Lord.
ਤਿਨਕੈਸੰਗਿਪਰਮਪਦੁਪਾਈਸਦਾਸੰਗੀਹਰਿਨਾਲਕਾ॥੧੩॥
(ਅਜਿਹੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਸਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੧੩॥
Associating with them, I obtain the supreme status; the Lord, my Companion, is always with me. ||13||
ਸਾਜਨੁਮੀਤੁਪਿਆਰਾਸੋਈ॥
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਜਣ ਹੈ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ,
He alone is my beloved friend and companion,
ਏਕੁਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏਦੁਰਮਤਿਖੋਈ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ,
who implants the Name of the One Lord within, and eradicates evil-mindedness.
ਕਾਮੁਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਅਹੰਕਾਰੁਤਜਾਏਤਿਸੁਜਨਕਉਉਪਦੇਸੁਨਿਰਮਾਲਕਾ॥੧੪॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਦਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ) ਛਡਾ ਦੇਵੇ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਫੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪॥
Immaculate are the teachings of that humble servant of the Lord, who casts out sexual desire, anger and egotism. ||14||
ਤੁਧੁਵਿਣੁਨਾਹੀਕੋਈਮੇਰਾ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ (ਸਹਾਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ।
Other than You, O Lord, no one is mine.
ਗੁਰਿਪਕੜਾਏਪ੍ਰਭਕੇਪੈਰਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਫੜਾਏ ਹਨ।
The Guru has led me to grasp the feet of God.
ਹਉਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਸਤਿਗੁਰਪੂਰੇਜਿਨਿਖੰਡਿਆਭਰਮੁਅਨਾਲਕਾ॥੧੫॥
ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਝੱਖੜ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru, who has destroyed the illusion of duality. ||15||
ਸਾਸਿਸਾਸਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਬਿਸਰੈਨਾਹੀ॥
(ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ) ਭੁੱਲੇ ਨਾਹ।
With each and every breath, I never forget God.
ਆਠਪਹਰਹਰਿਹਰਿਕਉਧਿਆਈ॥
ਮੈਂ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har.
ਨਾਨਕਸੰਤਤੇਰੈਰੰਗਿਰਾਤੇਤੂਸਮਰਥੁਵਡਾਲਕਾ॥੧੬॥੪॥੧੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੬॥੪॥੧੩॥
O Nanak, the Saints are imbued with Your Love; You are the great and all-powerful Lord. ||16||4||13||
ਮਾਰੂਮਹਲਾ੫॥
ਰਾਗ ਮਾਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Maaroo, Fifth Mahalaa:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਚਰਨਕਮਲਹਿਰਦੈਨਿਤਧਾਰੀ॥
(ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਾਂ,
I enshrine the Lord's lotus feet continually within my heart.
ਗੁਰੁਪੂਰਾਖਿਨੁਖਿਨੁਨਮਸਕਾਰੀ॥
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਖਿਨ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
Each and every moment, I humbly bow to the Perfect Guru.
ਤਨੁਮਨੁਅਰਪਿਧਰੀਸਭੁਆਗੈਜਗਮਹਿਨਾਮੁਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ॥੧॥
ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
I dedicate my body, mind and everything, and place it in offering before the Lord. His Name is the most beautiful in this world. ||1||
ਸੋਠਾਕੁਰੁਕਿਉਮਨਹੁਵਿਸਾਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
Why forget the Lord and Master from your mind?
ਜੀਉਪਿੰਡੁਦੇਸਾਜਿਸਵਾਰੇ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ?
He blessed you with body and soul, creating and embellishing you.
ਸਾਸਿਗਰਾਸਿਸਮਾਲੇਕਰਤਾਕੀਤਾਅਪਣਾਪਾਵਣਾ॥੨॥
ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ) ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਰੱਖ। ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
With every breath and morsel of food, the Creator takes care of His beings, who receive according to what they have done. ||2||
ਜਾਤੇਬਿਰਥਾਕੋਊਨਾਹੀ॥
ਜਿਸ (ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਰ) ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੜਦਾ,
No one returns empty-handed from Him;
ਆਠਪਹਰਹਰਿਰਖੁਮਨਮਾਹੀ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਭ ਰੱਖ।
twenty-four hours a day, keep the Lord in your mind.
