ਧਨਅੰਧੀਪਿਰੁਚਪਲੁਸਿਆਨਾ॥
ਮਾਇਆ-ਗ੍ਰਸੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਚੰਚਲ ਚਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ-
The body-bride is blind, and the groom is clever and wise.
ਪੰਚਤਤੁਕਾਰਚਨੁਰਚਾਨਾ॥
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਹੀ ਖੇਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The creation was created of the five elements.
ਜਿਸੁਵਖਰਕਉਤੁਮਆਏਹਹੁਸੋਪਾਇਓਸਤਿਗੁਰਪਾਸਾਹੇ॥੬॥
ਜਿਸ (ਨਾਮ-) ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਹੋ, ਉਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
That merchandise, for which you have come into the world, is received only from the True Guru. ||6||
ਧਨਕਹੈਤੂਵਸੁਮੈਨਾਲੇ॥
ਕਾਇਆਂ (ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਆਖਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ- ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
The body-bride says, "Please live with me,
ਪ੍ਰਿਅਸੁਖਵਾਸੀਬਾਲਗੁਪਾਲੇ॥
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ-ਰਹਿਣੇ ਲਾਡੁਲੇ ਪਤੀ! (ਕਿਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਨਾ ਜਾਈਂ)।
O my beloved, peaceful, young lord.
ਤੁਝੈਬਿਨਾਹਉਕਿਤਹੀਨਲੇਖੈਵਚਨੁਦੇਹਿਛੋਡਿਨਜਾਸਾਹੇ॥੭॥
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। (ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ) ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ॥੭॥
Without you, I am of no account. Please give me your word, that you will not leave me". ||7||
ਪਿਰਿਕਹਿਆਹਉਹੁਕਮੀਬੰਦਾ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਤਰਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ) ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ-ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹਾਂ।
The soul-husband says, "I am the slave of my Commander.
ਓਹੁਭਾਰੋਠਾਕੁਰੁਜਿਸੁਕਾਣਿਨਛੰਦਾ॥
ਉਹ ਬੜਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
He is my Great Lord and Master, who is fearless and independent.
ਜਿਚਰੁਰਾਖੈਤਿਚਰੁਤੁਮਸੰਗਿਰਹਣਾਜਾਸਦੇਤਊਠਿਸਿਧਾਸਾਹੇ॥੮॥
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਸੱਦੇਗਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਵਾਂਗਾ ॥੮॥
As long as He wills, I will remain with you. When He summons me, I shall arise and depart." ||8||
ਜਉਪ੍ਰਿਅਬਚਨਕਹੇਧਨਸਾਚੇ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਇਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਬਚਨ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
The husband speaks words of Truth to the bride,
ਧਨਕਛੂਨਸਮਝੈਚੰਚਲਿਕਾਚੇ॥
ਉਹ ਚੰਚਲ ਤੇ ਅਕਲ ਦੀ ਕੱਚੀ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ।
but the bride is restless and inexperienced, and she does not understand anything.
ਬਹੁਰਿਬਹੁਰਿਪਿਰਹੀਸੰਗੁਮਾਗੈਓਹੁਬਾਤਜਾਨੈਕਰਿਹਾਸਾਹੇ॥੯॥
ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਖ਼ੌਲ ਸਮਝ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
Again and again, she begs her husband to stay; she thinks that he is just joking when he answers her. ||9||
ਆਈਆਗਿਆਪਿਰਹੁਬੁਲਾਇਆ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Order comes, and the husband-soul is called.
ਨਾਧਨਪੁਛੀਨਮਤਾਪਕਾਇਆ॥
ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He does not consult with his bride, and does not ask her opinion.
ਊਠਿਸਿਧਾਇਓਛੂਟਰਿਮਾਟੀਦੇਖੁਨਾਨਕਮਿਥਨਮੋਹਾਸਾਹੇ॥੧੦॥
ਉਹ ਕਾਇਆਂ-ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵੇਖ, ਇਹ ਹੈ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਝੂਠਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥੧੦॥
He gets up and marches off, and the discarded body-bride mingles with dust. O Nanak, behold the illusion of emotional attachment and hope. ||10||
ਰੇਮਨਲੋਭੀਸੁਣਿਮਨਮੇਰੇ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ!
O greedy mind - listen, O my mind!
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਦਿਨੁਰਾਤਿਸਦੇਰੇ॥
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
Serve the True Guru day and night forever.
ਬਿਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਪਚਿਮੂਏਸਾਕਤਨਿਗੁਰੇਗਲਿਜਮਫਾਸਾਹੇ॥੧੧॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ (ਇਹ) ਫਾਹਾ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
Without the True Guru, the faithless cynics rot away and die. The noose of Death is around the necks of those who have no guru. ||11||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿਆਵੈਮਨਮੁਖਿਜਾਵੈ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The self-willed manmukh comes, and the self-willed manmukh goes.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿਫਿਰਿਫਿਰਿਚੋਟਾਖਾਵੈ॥
ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਗੇੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The manmukh suffers beatings again and again.
ਜਿਤਨੇਨਰਕਸੇਮਨਮੁਖਿਭੋਗੈਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਲੇਪੁਨਮਾਸਾਹੇ॥੧੨॥
ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਨਰਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
The manmukh endures as many hells as there are; the Gurmukh is not even touched by them. ||12||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੋਇਜਿਹਰਿਜੀਉਭਾਇਆ॥
ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਜਾਣੋ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗ ਗਿਆ।
He alone is Gurmukh, who is pleasing to the Dear Lord.
ਤਿਸੁਕਉਣੁਮਿਟਾਵੈਜਿਪ੍ਰਭਿਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ॥
ਜਿਸ (ਅਜਿਹੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਸੋਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
Who can destroy anyone who is robed in honor by the Lord?
ਸਦਾਅਨੰਦੁਕਰੇਆਨੰਦੀਜਿਸੁਸਿਰਪਾਉਪਇਆਗਲਿਖਾਸਾਹੇ॥੧੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਸਿਰੋਪਾਉ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੩॥
The blissful one is forever in bliss; he is dressed in robes of honor. ||13||
ਹਉਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਸਤਿਗੁਰਪੂਰੇ॥
ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru.
ਸਰਣਿਕੇਦਾਤੇਬਚਨਕੇਸੂਰੇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਬਚਨ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
He is the Giver of Sanctuary, the Heroic Warrior who keeps His Word.
ਐਸਾਪ੍ਰਭੁਮਿਲਿਆਸੁਖਦਾਤਾਵਿਛੁੜਿਨਕਤਹੀਜਾਸਾਹੇ॥੧੪॥
(ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ॥੧੪॥
Such is the Lord God, the Giver of peace, whom I have met; He shall never leave me or go anywhere else. ||14||
ਗੁਣਨਿਧਾਨਕਿਛੁਕੀਮਨਪਾਈ॥
ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ।
He is the treasure of virtue; His value cannot be estimated.
ਘਟਿਘਟਿਪੂਰਿਰਹਿਓਸਭਠਾਈ॥
ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ।
He is perfectly permeating each and every heart, prevailing everywhere.
ਨਾਨਕਸਰਣਿਦੀਨਦੁਖਭੰਜਨਹਉਰੇਣਤੇਰੇਜੋਦਾਸਾਹੇ॥੧੫॥੧॥੨॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਹਨ ॥੧੫॥੧॥੨॥
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Destroyer of the pains of the poor; I am the dust of the feet of Your slaves. ||15||1||2||
ਮਾਰੂਸੋਲਹੇਮਹਲਾ੫॥
ਰਾਗ ਮਾਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ 'ਸੋਹਲੇ' (੧੬ ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ)।
Maaroo, Solahas, Fifth Mahalaa:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਰੈਅਨੰਦੁਅਨੰਦੀਮੇਰਾ॥
ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
My Blissful Lord is forever in bliss.
ਘਟਿਘਟਿਪੂਰਨੁਸਿਰਸਿਰਹਿਨਿਬੇਰਾ॥
ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ। ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He fills each and every heart, and judges each and everyone.
ਸਿਰਿਸਾਹਾਕੈਸਚਾਸਾਹਿਬੁਅਵਰੁਨਾਹੀਕੋਦੂਜਾਹੇ॥੧॥
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The True Lord and Master is above the heads of all kings; there is none other than Him. ||1||
ਹਰਖਵੰਤਆਨੰਤਦਇਆਲਾ॥
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ।
He is joyful, blissful and merciful.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁਰਹਿਓਪ੍ਰਭੁਸਰਬਉਜਾਲਾ॥
ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
God's Light is manifest everywhere.
ਰੂਪਕਰੇਕਰਿਵੇਖੈਵਿਗਸੈਆਪੇਹੀਆਪਿਪੂਜਾਹੇ॥੨॥
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ) ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
He creates forms, and gazing upon them, He enjoys them; He Himself worships Himself. ||2||
ਆਪੇਕੁਦਰਤਿਕਰੇਵੀਚਾਰਾ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਰਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He contemplates His own creative power.
ਆਪੇਹੀਸਚੁਕਰੇਪਸਾਰਾ॥
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The True Lord Himself creates the expanse of the Universe.
ਆਪੇਖੇਲਖਿਲਾਵੈਦਿਨੁਰਾਤੀਆਪੇਸੁਣਿਸੁਣਿਭੀਜਾਹੇ॥੩॥
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਖੇਡਾਂ ਖਿਡਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈਆਂ) ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
He Himself stages the play, day and night; He Himself listens, and hearing, rejoices. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾਤਖਤੁਸਚੀਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ॥
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼ਾਹਨਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
True is His throne, and True is His kingdom.
ਸਚੁਖਜੀਨਾਸਾਚਾਸਾਹੀ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
True is the treasure of the True Banker.
