ਜੁਗਚਾਰੇਗੁਰਸਬਦਿਪਛਾਤਾ॥
ਚੌਹਾਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਦੀ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
Throughout the four ages, he recognizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਮਰੈਨਜਨਮੈਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਬਦਿਸਮਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੦॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
The Gurmukh does not die, the Gurmukh is not reborn; the Gurmukh is immersed in the Shabad. ||10||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਨਾਮਿਸਬਦਿਸਾਲਾਹੇ॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Gurmukh praises the Naam, and the Shabad.
ਅਗਮਅਗੋਚਰਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
God is inaccessible, unfathomable and self-sufficient.
ਏਕਨਾਮਿਜੁਗਚਾਰਿਉਧਾਰੇਸਬਦੇਨਾਮਵਿਸਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੧॥
(ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਾਮਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
The Naam, the Name of the One Lord, saves and redeems throughout the four ages. Through the Shabad, one trades in the Naam. ||11||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਾਂਤਿਸਦਾਸੁਖੁਪਾਏ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Gurmukh obtains eternal peace and tranquility.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹਿਰਦੈਨਾਮੁਵਸਾਏ॥
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh enshrines the Naam within his heart.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਹੋਵੈਸੋਨਾਮੁਬੂਝੈਕਾਟੇਦੁਰਮਤਿਫਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੨॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਖੋਟੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
One who becomes Gurmukh recognizes the Naam, and the noose of evil-mindedness is snapped. ||12||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਉਪਜੈਸਾਚਿਸਮਾਵੈ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
The Gurmukh wells up from, and then merges back into Truth.
ਨਾਮਰਿਜੰਮੈਨਜੂਨੀਪਾਵੈ॥
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਮਰਦਾ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
He does not die and take birth, and is not consigned to reincarnation.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਦਾਰਹਹਿਰੰਗਿਰਾਤੇਅਨਦਿਨੁਲੈਦੇਲਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੩॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੩॥
The Gurmukh remains forever imbued with the color of the Lord's Love. Night and day, he earns a profit. ||13||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਭਗਤਸੋਹਹਿਦਰਬਾਰੇ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Gurmukhs, the devotees, are exalted and beautified in the Court of the Lord.
ਸਚੀਬਾਣੀਸਬਦਿਸਵਾਰੇ॥
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁਧਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
They are embellished with the True Word of His Bani, and the Word of the Shabad.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਗੁਣਗਾਵੈਦਿਨੁਰਾਤੀਸਹਜਸੇਤੀਘਰਿਜਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੪॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ) ॥੧੪॥
Night and day, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, day and night, and they intuitively go to their own home. ||14||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਪੂਰਾਸਬਦੁਸੁਣਾਏ॥
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ)
The Perfect True Guru proclaims the Shabad;
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਭਗਤਿਕਰਹੁਲਿਵਲਾਏ॥
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
night and day, remain lovingly attuned to devotional worship.
ਹਰਿਗੁਣਗਾਵਹਿਸਦਹੀਨਿਰਮਲਨਿਰਮਲਗੁਣਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੫॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੫॥
One who sings forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord, becomes immaculate; Immaculate are the Glorious Praises of the Sovereign Lord . ||15||
ਗੁਣਕਾਦਾਤਾਸਚਾਸੋਈ॥
ਪਰ, (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਣਾਂ (ਦੇ ਗਾਣ) ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
The True Lord is the Giver of virtue.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਵਿਰਲਾਬੂਝੈਕੋਈ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand this.
ਨਾਨਕਜਨੁਨਾਮੁਸਲਾਹੇਬਿਗਸੈਸੋਨਾਮੁਬੇਪਰਵਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧੬॥੨॥੧੧॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੧੧॥
Servant Nanak praises the Naam; he blossoms forth in the ecstasy of the Name of the self-sufficient Lord. ||16||2||11||
ਮਾਰੂਮਹਲਾ੩॥
Maaroo, Third Mahalaa:
ਹਰਿਜੀਉਸੇਵਿਹੁਅਗਮਅਪਾਰਾ॥
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
Serve the Dear Lord, the inaccessible and infinite.
ਤਿਸਦਾਅੰਤੁਨਪਾਈਐਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ॥
ਉਸ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ) ਦਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
He has no end or limitation.
ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦਿਰਵਿਆਘਟਅੰਤਰਿਤਿਤੁਘਟਿਮਤਿਅਗਾਹਾਹੇ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਮੱਤ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
By Guru's Grace, one who dwells upon the Lord deep within his heart - his heart is filled with infinite wisdom. ||1||
ਸਭਮਹਿਵਰਤੈਏਕੋਸੋਈ॥
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
The One Lord is pervading and permeating amidst all.
ਗੁਰਪਰਸਾਦੀਪਰਗਟੁਹੋਈ॥
ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, He is revealed.
ਸਭਨਾਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕਰੇਜਗਜੀਵਨੁਦੇਦਾਰਿਜਕੁਸੰਬਾਹਾਹੇ॥੨॥
ਉਹ ਜਗਤ-ਦਾ-ਸਹਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
The Life of the world nurtures and cherishes all, giving sustenance to all. ||2||
ਪੂਰੈਸਤਿਗੁਰਿਬੂਝਿਬੁਝਾਇਆ॥
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪ) ਸਮਝ ਕੇ (ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding.
ਹੁਕਮੇਹੀਸਭੁਜਗਤੁਉਪਾਇਆ॥
ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
By the Hukam of His Command, He created the entire Universe.
ਹੁਕਮੁਮੰਨੇਸੋਈਸੁਖੁਪਾਏਹੁਕਮੁਸਿਰਿਸਾਹਾਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾਹੇ॥੩॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ (ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਭੀ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਆਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ) ॥੩॥
Whoever submits to His Command, finds peace; His Command is above the heads of kings and emperors. ||3||
ਸਚਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸਬਦੁਅਪਾਰਾ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਭੁੱਲ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਭੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੈ।
True is the True Guru. Infinite is the Word of His Shabad.
ਤਿਸਦੈਸਬਦਿਨਿਸਤਰੈਸੰਸਾਰਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਗਤ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through His Shabad, the world is saved.
ਆਪੇਕਰਤਾਕਰਿਕਰਿਵੇਖੈਦੇਦਾਸਾਸਗਿਰਾਹਾਹੇ॥੪॥
(ਗੁਰੂ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਹ (ਜਿੰਦ) ਭੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਭੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
The Creator Himself created the creation; He gazes upon it, and blesses it with breath and nourishment. ||4||
ਕੋਟਿਮਧੇਕਿਸਹਿਬੁਝਾਏ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।
Out of millions, only a few understand.
ਗੁਰਕੈਸਬਦਿਰਤੇਰੰਗੁਲਾਏ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are colored in His Love.
ਹਰਿਸਾਲਾਹਹਿਸਦਾਸੁਖਦਾਤਾਹਰਿਬਖਸੇਭਗਤਿਸਲਾਹਾਹੇ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ (ਹੋਰ) ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
They praise the Lord, the Giver of peace forever; the Lord forgives His devotees, and blesses them with His Praise. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਹਿਸੇਜਨਸਾਚੇ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਅਡੋਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are true.
ਜੋਮਰਿਜੰਮਹਿਕਾਚਨਿਕਾਚੇ॥
ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
The falsest of the false die, only to be reborn.
ਅਗਮਅਗੋਚਰੁਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾਭਗਤਿਵਛਲੁਅਥਾਹਾਹੇ॥੬॥
ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
The inaccessible, unfathomable, self-sufficient, incomprehensible Lord is the Lover of His devotees. ||6||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਪੂਰਾਸਾਚੁਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ॥
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Perfect True Guru implants Truth within.
ਸਚੈਸਬਦਿਸਦਾਗੁਣਗਾਏ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Through the True Word of the Shabad, they sing His Glorious Praises forever.
ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾਵਰਤੈਸਭਅੰਤਰਿਸਿਰਿਸਿਰਿਲਿਖਦਾਸਾਹਾਹੇ॥੭॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਣ-ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਮਾ (ਸਾਹਾ) ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਜਿੰਦ-ਵਹੁਟੀ ਨੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਸਹੁਰੇ-ਘਰ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਣਾ ਹੈ) ॥੭॥
The Giver of virtue is pervading deep within the nucleus of all beings; He inscribes the time of destiny upon each and every person's head. ||7||
ਸਦਾਹਦੂਰਿਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਜਾਪੈ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh knows that God is always ever-present.
ਸਬਦੇਸੇਵੈਸੋਜਨੁਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
That humble being who serves the Shabad, is comforted and fulfilled.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁਸੇਵਹਿਸਚੀਬਾਣੀਸਬਦਿਸਚੈਓਮਾਹਾਹੇ॥੮॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
Night and day, he serves the True Word of the Guru's Bani; he delights in the True Word of the Shabad. ||8||
ਅਗਿਆਨੀਅੰਧਾਬਹੁਕਰਮਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ॥
(ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੋਂ) ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ (ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਹੋਇਆ) ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ (ਮਿੱਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ) ਕਰਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The ignorant and blind cling to all sorts of rituals.
ਮਨਹਠਿਕਰਮਫਿਰਿਜੋਨੀਪਾਏ॥
ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਨਾਲ (ਅਜਿਹੇ) ਕਰਮ (ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They stubborn-mindedly perform these rituals, and are consigned to reincarnation.
