ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਤਖਤ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾ ।
God established the true congregation as his celestial throne.
हरि सचे तखत रचाइआ सति संगति मेला ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਿਧਾਂ ਖੇਲਾ ।
(Guru) Nanak illuminated the Sidhas with the true form of the Fearless and Formless One.
नानक निरभउ निरंकार विचि सिधां खेला ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਮਰ ਮਨਾਈ ਕਾਲਕਾ ਖੰਡੇ ਕੀ ਵੇਲਾ ।
The Guru (in his Tenth Form) entreated the Shakti, the Integrity, by bequeathing the nectar through the Double-Edged Sword.
गुरु सिमर मनाई कालका खंडे की वेला ।
ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪਾਹੁਲ ਖੰਡੇਧਾਰ ਹੋਇ ਜਨਮ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ।
Quaffing the nectar of Double-Edged Sword, accomplish the worth of your birth.
पीवहु पाहुल खंडेधार होइ जनम सुहेला ।
ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
While the egocentric remains in duality, the Khalsa, the pure ones, enjoy the association of the Guru;
गुर संगति कीनी क़ालसा मनमुखी दुहेला ।

When one joins the True Assembly, the five vices are liquidated.
सति संगति मेलाप करि पंच दूत संघारे ।
ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਲਹਨਿ ਜੋ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ।
In the Congregation no respect is accorded to the ones who disregard their Spouses,
विचि संगति ढोई ना लहनि जो खसमु विसारे ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਥੇ ਉਜਲੇ ਸਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ।
But the Guru's Sikh remains unblemished in the Court of Righteousness.
गुरमुखि मथे उजले सचे दरबारे ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ ।
And sequentially, always, meditate on Godly Guru Gobind Singh in the ambrosial hour.
हरि गुरु गोबिंद धिआईऐ सचि अंम्रित वेला ।

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਰਤਦੀ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਬਾਈ ।
Egoism pervades the affairs of the whole Universe.
हुकमै अंदरि वरतदी सभ स्रिसटि सबाई ।
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹੁਕਮ ਮਨਾਈ ।
Those are the only Gurmukhs (the ones adopting the Guru's way), who bow to the celestial order.
इकि आपे गुरमुखि कीतीअनु जिनि हुकम मनाई ।
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ।
But the rest, forgetting why they came, are drowned in falsehood and duality.
इकि आपे भरम भुलाइअनु दूजै चितु लाई ।
ਇਕਨਾ ਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਖਸਿਅਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ।
Those, who have the blessing of God's Name, have His own support.
इकना नो नामु बखसिअनु होइ आपि सहाई ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਕਾਰਥਾ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
The Gurmukh enjoys the worth of his birth right whereas the egocentric remains in duality.
गुरमुखि जनमु सकारथा मनमुखी दुहेला ।

The Celestial Word is for them, whose divine writ is blessed.
गुरबाणी तिनि भाईआ जिनि मसतकि भाग ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਛੁਟੜਿ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਹਾਗ ।
The egocentric is like a derelict woman but the fortunate is the Gurmukh one.
मनमुखि छुटड़ि कामणी गुरमुखि सोहाग ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਊਜਲ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੈ ਕਾਗ ।
The Gurmukh is the epitome of a (white) swan whereas the (black) crow represents an egocentric.
गुरमुखि ऊजल हंसु है मनमुख है काग ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਊਂਧੇ ਕਵਲੁ ਹੈਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋ ਜਾਗ ।
The egocentric resembles the withered lotus but the Gurmukh is full bloom.
मनमुखि ऊंधे कवलु हैं गुरमुखि सो जाग ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾ ।
Whereas the dissenter remains in transmigration, the Gurmukh is assimilated in Har.
मनमुखि जोनि भवाईअनि गुरमुखि हरि मेला ।

True is the Lord and True HisGurbani, the Celestial Word.
सचा साहिबु अमर सचु सची गुरु बाणी ।
ਸਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਸੁਖ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਣੀ ।
Infused in the True, celestial delight is gained.
सचे सेती रतिआ सुख दरगह माणी ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ।
They who endeavour for the True recognition, relish the bliss.
जिनि सतिगुरु सचु धिआइआ तिनि सुख विहाणी ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮਾਰੀਐ ਤਿਲ ਪੀੜੈ ਘਾਣੀ ।
The egocentric are condemned to the hell, and their bodies are crushed by the oil-press.
मनमुखि दरगहि मारीऐ तिल पीड़ै घाणी ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
The Gurmukh's birth brings contentment while the egotistic wander in duality.
गुरमुखि जनम सदा सुखी मनमुखी दुहेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੫।

True Naam, the Word, is precious, and is grasped only by the fortunate ones,
सचा नामु अमोल है वडभागी सुणीऐ ।
ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਣੀਐ ।
In the True Assembly by, always, singing the praises of Har.
सतिसंगति विचि पाईऐ नित हरि गुण गुणीऐ ।
ਧਰਮ ਖੇਤ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਸਰੀਰ ਬੋਈਐ ਸੋ ਲੁਣੀਐ ।
In the field of righteousness in the Kal-age, one crops what one sows.
धरम खेत कलिजुग सरीर बोईऐ सो लुणीऐ ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਆਇ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਿਉਂ ਪੁਣੀਐ ।
The True Lord, like straining water, assesses Truth through Justice.
सचा साहिब सचु निआइ पाणी जिउं पुणीऐ ।
ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਨਿਤ ਨੇਹੁ ਨਵੇਲਾ ।
Truth prevails in the congregation, and unique is His everlasting affinity.
विचि संगति सचु वरतदा नित नेहु नवेला ।

Har, the One and Only God is prevailing now and shall be.
ओअंकार अकार आपि है होसी भी आपै ।
ਓਹੀ ਉਪਾਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜਾਪੈ ।
He, Himself, is the Creator, and is savoured through the Guru's Word.
ओही उपावनहारु है गुर सबदी जापै ।
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿਂ ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ।
Without any veneration, He produces as well as decimates in an instant.
खिन महिं ढाहि उसारदा तिसु भउ न बिआपै ।
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੁਖ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ।
In the Kal-age, by administering service to the Guru, the distress troubles not.
कली काल गुरु सेवीऐ नहीं दुख संतापै ।
ਸਭ ਜਗੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੇਲਾ ।
Whole Universe is your presentation, and You are the ocean of benevolence.
सभ जगु तेरा खेलु है तूं गुणी गहेला ।

The Primal Being is the an absolute perception, and without Guru His goals are unapproachable.
आदि पुरख अनभै अनंत गुरु अंत न पाईऐ ।
ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗੰਮ ਆਦਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਖੀ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ।
He, the infinite Primal Being, is not discernible through temporal aptitude.
अपर अपार अगंम आदि जिसु लखी न जाईऐ ।
ਅਮਰ ਅਜਾਚੀ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ।
He neither perishes nor needs any favours, and, therefore, must always be remembered,
अमर अजाची सति नामु तिसु सदा धिआईऐ ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ।
As with service to the True One, the fear free posture is earned.
सचा साहिब सेवीऐ मन चिंदिआ पाईऐ ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਹੈ ਏਕ ਅਕੇਲਾ ।
He, the only one, has manifested in myriad of forms.
अनिक रूप धरि प्रगटिआ है एक अकेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੮।

The Indestructible Infinite-being is apparent in all the fragments.
अबिनासी अनंत है घटि घटि दिसटाइआ ।
ਅਘ ਨਾਸੀ ਆਤਮ ਅਭੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲੈ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ।
The vices, He obliterates, and the oblivious one can forget Him not.
अघ नासी आतम अभुल नहीं भुलै भुलाइआ ।
ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਕਾਲ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਖਾਇਆ ।
Har, the all knowing Timeless, is unperturbable but can be experienced through the Guru's Word.
हरि अलख अकाल अडोल है गुरु सबदि लखाइआ ।
ਸਰਬ ਬਿਆਪੀ ਹੈ ਅਲੇਪ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ।
He is omnipresent but non-aligned, and the illusion attracts Him not.
सरब बिआपी है अलेप जिसु लगै न माइआ ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਲੰਘੈ ਵਹੇਲਾ ।
The Gurmukh converges on the Naam and conveniently swims across the mundane sea.
हरि गुरमुखि नाम धिआईऐ जितु लंघै वहेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲਾ ।੯।

Recognise the Formless, the One with compassion for humanity, who is the treasure of benevolence, and sans enmity.
निरंकार नरहरि निधान निरवैरु धिआईऐ ।
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਨਾਥ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨ ਗਾਈਐ ।
Day and night with diligent mind sing the praises of emancipating Lord.
नाराइण निरबाण नाथ मन अनदिन गाईऐ ।
ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਦਲਣ ਜਪਿ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ।
To escape the hell, recollect the One who prevents the hell and wipes out the torments,
नरक निवारण दुख दलण जपि नरकि न जाईऐ ।
ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਨਾਥ ਜੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ।
As with service to the True One, the fear free pasture is earned.
देणहार दइआल नाथ जो देइ सु पाईऐ ।
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਖੇਲਾ ।
He, the only one, has manifested in myriad of forms.
दुख भंजन सुख हरि धिआन माइआ विचि खेला ।

God Almighty is the Immaculate and Supreme Being.
पारब्रहम पूरन पुरख परमेसुर दाता ।
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਰਬ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ।
Knowing all, He is the saviour of fallen ones.
पतित पावन परमातमा सरब अंतरि जाता ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ।
Beholding all, He is prudent and bountiful in charity.
हरि दाना बीना बेसुमार बेअंत बिधाता ।
ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ।
बनवारी बखसिंद आपु आपे पित माता ।
ਇਹ ਮਾਨਸ ਜਨਮ ਅਮੋਲ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਨੇ ਕੀ ਵੇਲਾ ।
In valuable human form, it is the time to join with Him.
इह मानस जनम अमोल है मिलने की वेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੧੧।

Remember the destroyer of anxiety, and worship the obliterator of licentiousness.
भै भंजन भगवान भजो भै नासन भोगी ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੋ ਜਪਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਰੋਗੀ ।
The Cherisher of His Devotees, destroys their afflictions, and makes them, the ones in meditation, for ever diseaseless.
भगति वछल भै भंजनो जपि सदा अरोगी ।
ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਮੁਕੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜੋਗ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ।
His alluring demeanour grants emancipation and chances amalgamation (with God).
मनमोहन मूरति मुकंद प्रभु जोग संजोगी ।
ਰਸੀਆ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਜੋ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੀ ।
He, Himself is the Admirer, the Protector, and the Creator, and He proceeds the way He wishes.
रसीआ रखवाला रचनहार जो करे सु होगी ।
ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨ ਮਾਧੋ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਖੇਲਾ ।
God, the liberator of the destiny, is the adversary of ego and duality, and luxuriates in multitudes of plays.
मधुसूदन माधो मुरारि बहु रंगी खेला ।

(He) is realiser of desires, and is the destinies scribe.
लोचा पूरन लिखनहारु है लेख लिखारी ।
ਹਰਿ ਲਾਲਨ ਲਾਲ ਗੁਲਾਲ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ।
Har is coloured with the dye of his devotees love, and being True He deals in the Truth.
हरि लालन लाल गुलाल सचु सचा वापारी ।
ਰਾਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਰਹੀਮੁ ਰਾਮ ਆਪੇ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ।
Worthy of meditation, He is Kind, and is equally integrated in males and females.
रावनहारु रहीमु राम आपे नर नारी ।
ਰਿਖੀਕੇਸ ਰਘੁਨਾਥ ਰਾਇ ਜਪੀਐ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ।
Deliberate on Rikhikesh, the conserver of perceptual organs and His manifestation in Raghunath (Sri Ram Chandra) and meditate on Banwari (The Lord Krishna).

Har, the Supreme Soul, destroys fear; meditate and pacify the mind.

The life patron of Puranas, is the perfect Supreme Soul.
प्रान मीत परमातमा पुरखोतम पूरा ।
ਪੋਖਨਹਾਰਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਨ ਊਰਾ ।
Har, the Sustaining Lord, is not deficient in protection.
पोखनहारा पातिसाह है प्रतिपालन ऊरा ।
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਾ ।
Hail! Manifested is the Supreme Being in the countenance of gallant Guru Gobind Singh,
पतित उधारन प्रानपति सद सदा हजूरा ।
ਵਹ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਪੁਰਖ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੂਰਾ ।
Who is spectacular, and with his marvels, profusely he is Satguru, the True Lord.
वह प्रगटिओ पुरख भगवंत रूप गुर गोबिंद सूरा ।
ਅਨੰਦ ਬਿਨੋਦੀ ਜੀਅ ਜਪਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਚੀ ਵੇਲਾ ।
Remember day and night, the virtues of Har who, at the times honest, endows truth.
अनंद बिनोदी जीअ जपि सचु सची वेला ।

Guru Gobind Singh manifested as the tenth incarnation.
उहु गुरु गोबिंद होइ प्रगटिओ दसवां अवतारा ।
ਜਿਨ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ਜਪਿਓ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ।
He inspired the meditation upon the imperceptible, timeless and flawless Creator.
जिन अलख अपार निरंजना जपिओ करतारा ।
ਨਿਜ ਪੰਥ ਚਲਾਇਓ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਧਰਿ ਤੇਜ ਕਰਾਰਾ ।
And initiated the Khalsa Panth, the Religious Path of Righteousness, and bequeathed scintillating splendour.
निज पंथ चलाइओ खालसा धरि तेज करारा ।
ਸਿਰ ਕੇਸ ਧਾਰਿ ਗਹਿ ਖੜਗ ਕੋ ਸਭ ਦੁਸਟ ਪਛਾਰਾ ।
Head high with full tresses, and the sword in hand, (the Panth) eliminated the adversaries,
सिर केस धारि गहि खड़ग को सभ दुसट पछारा ।
ਸੀਲ ਜਤ ਕੀ ਕਛ ਪਹਰਿ ਪਕੜੋ ਹਥਿਆਰਾ ।
Wearing the breaches, the symbol of chastity, raised the arms,
सील जत की कछ पहरि पकड़ो हथिआरा ।
ਸਚ ਫਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਜੀਤਿਓ ਰਣ ਭਾਰਾ ।
Roaring the war-cries of Victory to the Guru, prevailed in the immense battlefields,
सच फते बुलाई गुरू की जीतिओ रण भारा ।
ਸਭ ਦੈਤ ਅਰਿਨਿ ਕੋ ਘੇਰ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਚੈ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਾ ।
Rounded up all the devilish foes and annihilated them.
सभ दैत अरिनि को घेर करि कीचै प्रहारा ।
ਤਬ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਪ ਅਪਾਰਾ ।
And then docilely manifested the appraisal of great Guru in the world.
तब सहिजे प्रगटिओ जगत मै गुरु जाप अपारा ।
ਇਉਂ ਉਪਜੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੁਜੰਗੀਏ ਨੀਲ ਅੰਬਰ ਧਾਰਾ ।
Thus descended the young Singhs, the lions, like the rain showers from the blue sky,
इउं उपजे सिंघ भुजंगीए नील अंबर धारा ।
ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਭਿ ਛੈ ਕੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਾ ।
Who eliminated all the Turk (ruling Muslim) enemies and promoted the God's Name.
तुरक दुसट सभि छै कीए हरि नाम उचारा ।
ਤਿਨ ਆਗੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਠਹਿਰਿਓ ਭਾਗੇ ਸਿਰਦਾਰਾ ।
None dared to face them, and all the chieftains took to their heels.
तिन आगै कोइ न ठहिरिओ भागे सिरदारा ।
ਜਹ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਾਹ ਅਮੀਰੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਭ ਛਾਰਾ ।
The kings, sovereigns and emirates, all of them were decimated.
जह राजे साह अमीरड़े होए सभ छारा ।
ਫਿਰ ਸੁਨ ਕਰਿ ਐਸੀ ਧਮਕ ਕਉ ਕਾਂਪੈ ਗਿਰਿ ਭਾਰਾ ।
With high pitched drum-beats (of victory), even the mountains shuddered.
फिर सुन करि ऐसी धमक कउ कांपै गिरि भारा ।
ਤਬ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਹਲਚਲ ਭਈ ਛਾਡੇ ਘਰ ਬਾਰਾ ।
The upheaval ruffled the earth and people forsook their domiciles.
तब सभ धरती हलचल भई छाडे घर बारा ।
ਇਉਂ ਐਸੇ ਦੁੰਦ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਹਿ ਖਪਿਓ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ।
In such a conflict and distress, the world was absorbed.
इउं ऐसे दुंद कलेस महि खपिओ संसारा ।
ਤਿਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋਈ ਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਭੈ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰਾ ।
And there was none else than the True Guru who could eradicate the fright.
तिहि बिनु सतिगुर कोई है नही भै काटनहारा ।
ਗਹਿ ਐਸੇ ਖੜਗ ਦਿਖਾਈਐ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਝੇਲਾ ।
He (the True Guru), beholding the sword, displayed the feats bearable to none.
गहि ऐसे खड़ग दिखाईऐ को सकै न झेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੧੫।

ਗੁਰੁਬਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਸਿਉਂ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਬਿਗਿਆਨਾ ।
With the command of the Timeless, the Supreme True Guru, proclaimed the self-realisation,
गुरुबर अकाल के हुकम सिउं उपजिओ बिगिआना ।
ਤਬ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਰਚਿਓ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸਾਬਤ ਮਰਦਾਨਾ ।
And then, steadfastly, created Khalsa, the righteous ones, with the undefiled human form.
तब सहिजे रचिओ खालसा साबत मरदाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਉਠੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਭਕਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਡਰਪਾਨਾ ।
The Singhs rose up roaring and whole world was over-awed.
इउं उठे सिंघ भभकारि कै सभ जग डरपाना ।
ਮੜੀ ਦੇਵਲ ਗੋਰ ਮਸੀਤ ਢਾਹਿ ਕੀਏ ਮੈਦਾਨਾ ।
They decimated and raised to the ground the (ritualistic) cemeteries, crematoriums, temples and mosques.
मड़ी देवल गोर मसीत ढाहि कीए मैदाना ।
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਖਟ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਾ ਫੁਨ ਮਿਟੇ ਕੁਰਾਨਾ ।
(Compulsive) readings of Vedas, Puranas, Six-shastras and Quran was abolished.
बेद पुरान खट सासत्रा फुन मिटे कुराना ।
ਬਾਂਗ ਸਲਾਤ ਹਟਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਾ ।
Baangs, the calls for Muslim prayers, were ousted and the kings were abolished.
बांग सलात हटाइ करि मारे सुलताना ।
ਮੀਰ ਪੀਰ ਸਭ ਛਪਿ ਗਏ ਮਜਹਬ ਉਲਟਾਨਾ ।
Temporal and spiritual leaders were obscured, and all the religions became topsy-turvey.
मीर पीर सभ छपि गए मजहब उलटाना ।
ਮਲਵਾਨੇ ਕਾਜੀ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਕਛੁ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ।
The Muslim priests and justices deciphered hard but could not comprehend dissolution.
मलवाने काजी पड़ि थके कछु मरमु न जाना ।
ਲਖ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਨ ਜੋਤਕੀ ਬਿਖ ਰਸ ਉਰਝਾਨਾ ।
Millions of Brahamin scholars and astrologers were venomously entangled,
लख पंडित ब्रहमन जोतकी बिख रस उरझाना ।
ਫੁਨ ਪਾਥਰ ਦੇਵਲ ਪੂਜਿ ਕੈ ਅਤਿ ਹੀ ਭਰਮਾਨਾ ।
And were drowned in extreme fallacies of worshipping the idols and gods.
फुन पाथर देवल पूजि कै अति ही भरमाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਦੋਨੋ ਫਿਰਕੇ ਕਪਟ ਮੋਂ ਰਚ ਰਹੇ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ।
Thus, both the ignorant faiths, muffled in hypocrisy, were lagging behind.
इउं दोनो फिरके कपट मों रच रहे निदाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਤੀਸਰ ਮਜਹਬ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ।
Then the third religion, Khalsa, manifested triumphantly.
इउं तीसर मजहब खालसा उपजिओ परधाना ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਸਿਉ ਗਹਿ ਖੜਗ ਦਿਖਾਨਾ ।
By the command of Guru Gobind Singh, they brandished the swords held high.
जिनि गुरु गोबिंद के हुकम सिउ गहि खड़ग दिखाना ।
ਤਿਹ ਸਭ ਦੁਸਟਨ ਕਉ ਛੇਦਿ ਕੈ ਅਕਾਲ ਜਪਾਨਾ ।
They exterminated all the scoundrels and order of the Timeless One.
तिह सभ दुसटन कउ छेदि कै अकाल जपाना ।
ਫਿਰ ਐਸਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਕਾਲ ਕਾ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਨਾ ।
And this way they revealed the command of the Timeless in the world.
फिर ऐसा हुकम अकाल का जग मै प्रगटाना ।
ਤਬ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੈ ਕਾਂਪਤਿ ਤੁਰਕਾਨਾ ।
Turks, the Muslims, dreaded and none actuated the circumcision
तब सुंनत कोइ न करि सकै कांपति तुरकाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਉਮਤ ਸਭ ਮੁਹੰਮਦੀ ਖਪਿ ਗਈ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ।
Consequently, the following of Mohammed submerged in ignorance.
इउं उमत सभ मुहंमदी खपि गई निदाना ।
ਤਬ ਫਤੇ ਡੰਕ ਜਗ ਮੋ ਘੁਰੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੁੰਦ ਮਿਟਾਨਾ ।
Then the drumbeats of victory terminated all the adversities.
तब फते डंक जग मो घुरे दुख दुंद मिटाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਤੀਸਰ ਪੰਥ ਰਚਾਇਅਨੁ ਵਡ ਸੂਰ ਗਹੇਲਾ ।
And thus was proclaimed the great and valorous Third Faith.
इउं तीसर पंथ रचाइअनु वड सूर गहेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲਾ ।੧੬।

ਜਾਗੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਬੀਰ ਸਭ ਦੁਸਟ ਖਪਾਏ ।
Brave and stalwart Singhs awoke and obliterated all the enemies.
जागे सिंघ बलवंत बीर सभ दुसट खपाए ।
ਦੀਨ ਮੁਹੰਮਦੀ ਉਠ ਗਇਓ ਹਿੰਦਕ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ।
Muslim faith evaporated and Hindu's remained in scarcity.
दीन मुहंमदी उठ गइओ हिंदक ठहिराए ।
ਤਹਿ ਕਲਮਾ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸਕੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਕਰੁ ਅਲਾਏ ।
Neither there was any body to recite the Muslim Verses nor there was talk of Allah, the Muslim God.
तहि कलमा कोई न पढ़ सकै नहीं जिकरु अलाए ।
ਨਿਵਾਜ਼ ਦਰੂਦ ਨ ਫਾਇਤਾ ਨਹ ਲੰਡ ਕਟਾਏ ।
Neither any one called for Nimaz, the Muslim prayer, nor they said Darrod, the benedictions. Fatima was remembered not and none revelled in circumcision.
निवाज़ दरूद न फाइता नह लंड कटाए ।
ਯਹ ਰਾਹੁ ਸਰੀਅਤ ਮੇਟ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਸਲਮ ਭਰਮਾਏ ।
This path of Shariyat (Muslim Divine Law) erased, Muslims were perplexed.
यह राहु सरीअत मेट करि मुसलम भरमाए ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਫਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਸਭਨ ਕਉ ਸਚ ਖੇਲ ਰਚਾਏ ।
By applauding all and sundry, the Guru exhibited the operation of Truth,
गुरु फते बुलाई सभन कउ सच खेल रचाए ।
ਨਿਜ ਸੂਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਰਿਆਮੜੇ ਬਹੁ ਲਾਖ ਜਗਾਏ ।
And then he stimulated brave warrior Singhs in hundreds of thousands.
निज सूर सिंघ वरिआमड़े बहु लाख जगाए ।
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਤਿਨਹੂੰ ਲੂਟ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਰਕਾਂ ਚੁਣਿ ਖਾਏ ।
They picked all the cruel Turks in the world, and plundered and liquidated them.
सभ जग तिनहूं लूट करि तुरकां चुणि खाए ।
ਫਿਰ ਸੁਖ ਉਪਜਾਇਓ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਸਰਾਏ ।
Thus there prevailed the universal serenity and disregard for the tribulations.
फिर सुख उपजाइओ जगत मै सभ दुख बिसराए ।
ਨਿਜ ਦੋਹੀ ਫਿਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਜਪਾਏ ।
Then circulated (Guru) Gobind's order to reflect upon the Timeless One.
निज दोही फिरी गोबिंद की अकाल जपाए ।
ਤਿਹ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਰਾਜ ਕਮਾਇਅਨੁ ਸਚ ਅਦਲ ਚਲਾਏ ।
The sovereignty of the Fearless predominated and justice was determined by the Truth.
तिह निरभउ राज कमाइअनु सच अदल चलाए ।
ਇਉ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮੈ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਸਤਿਜੁਗ ਵਰਤਾਏ ।
Thus incarnating in the Kal-age, he unfolded Satjug, the Golden Age of Truth.
इउ कलिजुग मै अवतार धारि सतिजुग वरताए ।
ਸਭ ਤੁਰਕ ਮਲੇਛ ਖਪਾਇ ਕਰਿ ਸਚ ਬਨਤ ਬਨਾਏ ।
Abolishing all the Turks and barbarians, he inspired fidelity.
सभ तुरक मलेछ खपाइ करि सच बनत बनाए ।
ਤਬ ਸਕਲ ਜਗਤ ਕਉ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਏ ਦੁਖ ਮਾਰਿ ਹਟਾਏ ।
The ailments were driven away from the entire world and blessings conferred.
तब सकल जगत कउ सुख दीए दुख मारि हटाए ।
ਇਉਂ ਹੁਕਮ ਭਇਓ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਦੁੰਦ ਮਿਟਾਏ ।
Thus the Creator's order was enacted and all the contentions effaced.
इउं हुकम भइओ करतार का सभ दुंद मिटाए ।
ਤਬ ਸਹਜੇ ਧਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਗਾਏ ।
Then consistently the righteousness manifested and the praises of Har were articulated.
तब सहजे धरम प्रगासिआ हरि हरि जस गाए ।
ਵਹ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਮਰਦ ਅਗੰਮੜਾ ਵਰਿਆਮ ਇਕੇਲਾ ।
Hail! The Impervious Being was manifested and heralded as the one and only hero.
वह प्रगटिओ मरद अगंमड़ा वरिआम इकेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੧੭।

वाह वाह गोबिंद सिंघ आपे गुरु चेला ।१७।
ਨਿਜ ਫਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀਨੋ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ।
Himself, the True Guru invoked Fateh, the greeting of victory, and spread the divine light.
निज फते बुलाई सतिगुरू कीनो उजीआरा ।
ਝੂਠ ਕਪਟ ਸਭ ਛਪਿ ਗਏ ਸਚ ਸਚ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ।
The falsehood and maliciousness vanished and truth triumphed.
झूठ कपट सभ छपि गए सच सच वरतारा ।
ਫਿਰ ਜਗ ਹੋਮ ਠਹਿਰਾਇ ਕੈ ਨਿਜ ਧਰਮ ਸਵਾਰਾ ।
Desisting from the (rituals of) Yajana and Havana, righteousness was promoted.
फिर जग होम ठहिराइ कै निज धरम सवारा ।
ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁੰਦ ਸਭ ਉਠ ਗਇਓ ਰਚਿਓ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ।
All the contention of Turks were eliminated, and the (Khalsa) ovation was permeated.
तुरक दुंद सभ उठ गइओ रचिओ जैकारा ।
ਜਹ ਉਪਜੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਾਂ ਬਲੀ ਖਾਲਸ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਾ ।
Thus were promulgated Singhs, the emphatic and the righteous ones.
जह उपजे सिंघ महां बली खालस निरधारा ।
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਤਿਨਹੂੰ ਬਸ ਕੀਓ ਜਪ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ।
The whole world was brought to order and they meditated upon the magnanimous invisible.
सभ जग तिनहूं बस कीओ जप अलख अपारा ।
ਗੁਰ ਧਰਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਗ ਚਮਕਿਓ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ।
Deliberating on the Guru's Righteous-path, (celestial) light beamed and the darkness (of the ignorance) was effaced.
गुर धरम सिमरि जग चमकिओ मिटिओ अंधिआरा ।
ਤਬ ਕੁਸਲ ਖੇਮ ਆਨੰਦ ਸਿਉਂ ਬਸਿਓ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ।
And then the happiness, welfare and bliss prospered in the whole world.
तब कुसल खेम आनंद सिउं बसिओ संसारा ।
ਹਰਿ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਤਰ ਅਗੰਮ ਜਗ ਤਾਰਨਹਾਰਾ ।
The emancipator Guru (advanced) the incantation of Har, Wahiguru, God the Supreme, Har, Wahiguru.
हरि वाहिगुरू मंतर अगंम जग तारनहारा ।
ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਨਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸਿਉ ਪਹੁਂਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ।
The ones who meditates with devotion, realise the sublime court.
जो सिमरहि नर प्रेम सिउ पहुंचै दरबारा ।
ਸਭ ਪਕੜੋ ਚਰਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਛਾਡੋ ਜੰਜਾਰਾ ।
Embrace (you) all at the Guru's feet and get red of the perplexities.
सभ पकड़ो चरन गोबिंद के छाडो जंजारा ।
ਨਾਤਰੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਕੁਟੀਅਨੁ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਾ ।
Only the egocentric and the false ones get punished in the Righteous Court.
नातरु दरगह कुटीअनु मनमुखि कूड़िआरा ।
ਤਹ ਛੁਟੈ ਸੋਈ ਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੈ ਸਭ ਤਜੈ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ।
Only they, who ponder over Har, accomplish the astral heights and the rest remain fruitless.
तह छुटै सोई जु हरि भजै सभ तजै बिकारा ।
ਇਸ ਮਨ ਚੰਚਲ ਕਉ ਘੇਰ ਕਰਿ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ।
By controlling the inconsistent mind, remember the Creator.
इस मन चंचल कउ घेर करि सिमरै करतारा ।
ਤਬ ਪਹੁੰਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਹੁਕਮ ਸਿਉਂ ਨਿਜ ਦਸਵੈਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ।
Then with the heavenly command, one overwhelms the tenth door (of inner soul),
तब पहुंचै हरि हुकम सिउं निज दसवैं दुआरा ।
ਫਿਰ ਇਉਂ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਭੇਟੈ ਗਗਨ ਮੈ ਆਤਮ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਾ ।
And intuitively presents himself in the Godly domain for spiritual judgement.
फिर इउं सहिजे भेटै गगन मै आतम निरधारा ।
ਤਬ ਵੈ ਨਿਰਖੈਂ ਸੁਰਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ।
Sequentially, in the heaven, his spiritual evaluation is appreciated.
तब वै निरखैं सुरग महि आनंद सुहेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੧੮।
Hail, hail (Guru) Gobind Singh; He, Himself, is the Master and the Disciple too.
वाह वाह गोबिंद सिंघ आपे गुरु चेला ।१८।
ਵਹਿ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਚੇਲਾ ਮਰਦ ਕਾ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਸਦਾਏ ।
Hail! God's disciple was born and recognised as a great hero.
वहि उपजिओ चेला मरद का मरदान सदाए ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਕਉ ਜੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਨ ਝੁਲਾਏ ।
He triumphed over the whole world and unfurled the sacred flags.
जिनि सभ प्रिथवी कउ जीत करि नीसान झुलाए ।
ਤਬ ਸਿੰਘਨ ਕਉ ਬਖਸ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਦਿਖਲਾਏ ।
Protected all the Singhs, and endowed them with bliss.
तब सिंघन कउ बखस करि बहु सुख दिखलाए ।
ਫਿਰ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਕੇ ਊਪਰੇ ਹਾਕਮ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ।
Then controlled the entire society, and explained the commands.
फिर सभ प्रिथवी के ऊपरे हाकम ठहिराए ।
ਤਿਨਹੂਂ ਜਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਰਚਾਏ ।
Promoted good order in the world and inspired exhilaration.
तिनहूं जगत संभाल करि आनंद रचाए ।
ਤਹ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ।
Meditated and ruminated over the Timeless One, and glorified Har, the God Almighty.
तह सिमरि सिमरि अकाल कउ हरि हरि गुन गाए ।
ਵਾਹ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗਾਜੀ ਸਬਲ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਗਾਏ ।
Exalted Guru Gobind Singh instituted mighty crusading Singhs.
वाह गुरु गोबिंद गाजी सबल जिनि सिंघ जगाए ।
ਤਬ ਭਇਓ ਜਗਤ ਸਭ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਾਏ ।
Thus abounded in the world, Khalsa, the righteous ones, and the heretics were deluded.
तब भइओ जगत सभ खालसा मनमुख भरमाए ।
ਇਉਂ ਉਠਿ ਭਬਕੇ ਬਲ ਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਝਮਕਾਏ ।
The mighty Singhs rose and made their arms to shine.
इउं उठि भबके बल बीर सिंघ ससत्र झमकाए ।
ਤਬ ਸਭ ਤੁਰਕਨ ਕੋ ਛੇਦ ਕਰਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਜਪਾਏ ।
All the Turks were subjugated and made to ponder over the Timeless.
तब सभ तुरकन को छेद करि अकाल जपाए ।
ਸਭ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤੀ ਚੁਨਿ ਚੁਨਿ ਹਤੇ ਕਹੂੰ ਟਿਕਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਏ ।
Putting aside all the Kashatriyas, they let them had no peace.
सभ छत्रपती चुनि चुनि हते कहूं टिकनि न पाए ।
ਤਬ ਜਗ ਮੈਂ ਧਰਮ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਓ ਸਚੁ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਏ ।
The righteousness manifested the world and Truth was proclaimed.
तब जग मैं धरम परगासिओ सचु हुकम चलाए ।
ਯਹ ਬਾਰਹ ਸਦੀ ਨਿਬੇੜ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਫਤੇ ਬੁਲਾਏ ।
Eradicating the influence of twelve centuries, the Guru's slogan ravelled,
यह बारह सदी निबेड़ करि गुर फते बुलाए ।
ਤਬ ਦੁਸਟ ਮਲੇਛ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਖਪੇ ਛਲ ਕਪਟ ਉਡਾਏ ।
Which indulgently invalidated all the enemies and barbarians, and the hypocrisy took to its wings.
तब दुसट मलेछ सहिजे खपे छल कपट उडाए ।
ਇਉਂ ਹਰਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੋਂ ਰਣ ਜੁਧ ਮਚਾਏ ।
The world was won over thus and truth was crowned, and set on its throne.
इउं हरि अकाल के हुकम सों रण जुध मचाए ।
ਤਬ ਕੁਦੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੁਜੰਗੀਏ ਦਲ ਕਟਕ ਉਡਾਏ ।
The world was consoled, and the devotees were induced towards Har.
तब कुदे सिंघ भुजंगीए दल कटक उडाए ।
ਇਉਂ ਫਤੇ ਭਈ ਜਗ ਜੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਤਖਤ ਰਚਾਏ ।
All the humanity was blessed and the afflictions were wiped out.
इउं फते भई जग जीत करि सचु तखत रचाए ।
ਬਹੁ ਦੀਓ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਜਗਤ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ।
बहु दीओ दिलासा जगत को हरि भगति द्रिड़ाए ।
ਤਬ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਭਈ ਦੁਖ ਦਰਦ ਗਵਾਏ ।
तब सभ प्रिथवी सुखीआ भई दुख दरद गवाए ।
ਫਿਰ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਬਖਸਿਓ ਜਗਤ ਭੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਚੁਕਾਏ ।
Then with the eternal benediction, the anxiety in the world was alleviated.
फिर सुख निहचल बखसिओ जगत भै त्रास चुकाए ।
ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਖੜਾ ਦਰ ਪਕੜਿ ਕੈ ਇਉਂ ਉਚਰਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ।
Gurdas, leaning on the door, was eulogising this;
गुरदास खड़ा दर पकड़ि कै इउं उचरि सुणाए ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜਮ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸੋਂ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਛੁਡਾਏ ।
`Oh my True Lord! Please save me from the trepidation of the Yamas.
हे सतिगुर जम त्रास सों मुहि लेहु छुडाए ।
ਜਬ ਹਉਂ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਸਰੋ ਗੁਰ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਏ ।
`Enable me, the servant of servants, to earn the favour of the Guru,
जब हउं दासन को दासरो गुर टहिल कमाए ।
ਤਬ ਛੂਟੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਕਲ ਫੁਨ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ।
`So that all the restraints are erased, and one retreats not to the hell.'
तब छूटै बंधन सकल फुन नरकि न जाए ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾ ।
Har was always anxious for his devotees and, thus, the devotees's (divine) union was obvious.
हरि दासां चिंदिआ सद सदा गुर संगति मेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੧੯।

वाह वाह गोबिंद सिंघ आपे गुरु चेला ।१९।
ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹਹਿ ਜਗ ਤਾਰਨ ਆਏ ।
The saints and devotees, who are the Sikhs of Guru (Gobind Singh), have come for the deliverance of the world.
संत भगत गुरसिख हहि जग तारन आए ।
ਸੇ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਜਗ ਮੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪਾਏ ।
And these generous ones are causing the world meditate upon the Guru's incantation,
से परउपकारी जग मो गुरु मंत्र जपाए ।
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਸਾਧ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਮਾਏ ।
The Sewak, the devoted adherent, who meditates on the Naam (of the Creator) is sanctified.
जप तप संजम साध करि हरि भगति कमाए ।
ਤਹਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ।
With deliberation, penance and austerity, the devotee achieves godliness,
तहि सेवक सो परवान है हरि नाम द्रिड़ाए ।
ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧ ਫੁਨ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਚੁਕਾਏ ।
And abandons sensuality, wrath, greed arrogance and infatuation.
काम करोध फुन लोभ मोह अहंकार चुकाए ।
ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਘਟਿ ਸੇਧ ਕਰਿ ਪਵਣਾ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ।
He reforms with capable strategy, and domineers the mind wavering wind,
जोग जुगति घटि सेध करि पवणा ठहिराए ।
ਤਬ ਖਟ ਚਕਰਾ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਘੁਰੇ ਗਗਨਾ ਘਰਿ ਛਾਏ ।
Six spheres (of bodily self-control) overpowered, he eventually, overwhelms the divine heights.
तब खट चकरा सहिजे घुरे गगना घरि छाए ।
ਨਿਜ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਇ ਕੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ।
Then he proceeds, with honour, towards the heavenly abode with a virtuous appearance.
निज सुंन समाधि लगाइ कै अनहद लिव लाए ।
ਤਬ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉਂ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਏ ।
One who narrates the glory of (Guru) Nanak, is the bravest of all.
तब दरगह मुख उजले पति सिउं घरि जाए ।
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਮਰਦਾਨ ਮਰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ।
And the one who recounts this Epic of Bhagauti, attains the Eternal status.
कली काल मरदान मरद नानक गुन गाए ।
ਯਹ ਵਾਰ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜੋ ਪੜ੍ਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦ ਪਾਏ ।
Neither he faces the distress nor repentance; rather he prevails in bliss.
यह वार भगउती जो पढ़ै अमरा पद पाए ।
ਤਿਹ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਨ ਕਛੁ ਲਗੈ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਰਤਾਏ ।
Whatever he desires, he achieves and, through his heart, invokes the invisible.
तिह दूख संताप न कछु लगै आनंद वरताए ।
ਫਿਰ ਜੋ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਲਹੈ ਘਟਿ ਅਲਖ ਲਖਾਏ ।
For that, he, day and night, recounts this Epic from his mouth,
फिर जो चितवै सोई लहै घटि अलख लखाए ।
ਤਬ ਨਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸੋਂ ਮੁਖ ਪਾਠ ਸੁਨਾਏ ।
To earn freedom from the urge for material things, attains salvation and flies to rapturous heights.
तब निस दिन इस वार सों मुख पाठ सुनाए ।
ਸੋ ਲਹੈ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦ ਚੜ੍ਹਿ ਗਗਨ ਸਮਾਏ ।
There remains no challenge of Yamas,
सो लहै पदारथ मुकति पद चढ़ि गगन समाए ।
ਤਬ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪੂਛੇ ਜਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਏ ।
and Righteousness eliminates all the transgressions.
तब कछू न पूछे जम धरम सभ पाप मिटाए ।
ਤਬ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮ ਡੰਡ ਦੁਖ ਨਹਿਂ ਹੋਇ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
No punishment of the Yamas remains effective, and the adversities become not troublesome.
तब लगै न तिसु जम डंड दुख नहिं होइ दुहेला ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ।੨੦।
Hail, hail (Guru) Gobind Singh; He, Himself, is the Master and the Disciple too.
वाह वाह गोबिंद सिंघ आपे गुरु चेला ।२०।
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਖੇਲ ਰਚਾਇਆ ।
Guru Nanak, the embodiment of God Himself, permeated this (godly) operation.
हरि सतिगुर नानक खेल रचाइआ ।
ਅੰਗਦ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਲਖ ਲਖਾਇਆ ।
And invoked sacred writ on (Guru) Angad.
अंगद कउ प्रभु अलख लखाइआ ।
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਮਹਲ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਇਓ ।
In the first manifestation, he expounded the Naam (the Creator in His Creator).
प्रिथम महल हरि नामु जपाइओ ।
ਦੁਤੀਏ ਅੰਗਦ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇਓ ।
And the second, (Guru) Angad sang the benevolence of Har.
दुतीए अंगद हरि गुन गाइओ ।
ਤੀਸਰ ਮਹਲ ਅਮਰ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ।
In the Third revelation, (Guru) Amar Das captured the mind with the Eternal Word,
तीसर महल अमर परधाना ।
ਜਿਹ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਰਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ।
By which he had envisaged the Lord God in his heart.
जिह घट महि निरखे हरि भगवाना ।
ਜਲ ਭਰਿਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕੇ ਦੁਆਰੇ ।
He served his True Guru by fetching water to his (Guru's) abode,
जल भरिओ सतिगुरु के दुआरे ।
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਪਾਇਓ ਮਹਲ ਅਪਾਰੇ ।
And, thus, obtained the divine throne.
तब इह पाइओ महल अपारे ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਚਉਥੇ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ।
In the fourth personification, appeared Guru Ram Dass,
गुरु रामदास चउथे परगासा ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਰਟੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸਾ ।
Who recapitulated the faultless Immortal-being,
जिनि रटे निरंजन प्रभु अबिनासा ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਪੰਚਮ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਓ ।
And confirmed fifth pontification upon Guru Arjan,
गुरू अरजन पंचम ठहिराइओ ।
ਜਿਨ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਗਰੰਥ ਬਣਾਇਓ ।
Who with the treasure of nectarous Word, compiled the Granth (the book of Holy Scriptures).
जिन सबद सुधार गरंथ बणाइओ ।
ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਬਣਾਇ ਉਚਾਰ ਸੁਨਾਇਓ ।
Creating the Granth, he pronounced:
ग्रंथ बणाइ उचार सुनाइओ ।
ਤਬ ਸਰਬ ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਪਾਠ ਰਚਾਇਓ ।
The whole world to reiterate the Sermons,
तब सरब जगत मै पाठ रचाइओ ।
ਕਰਿ ਪਾਠ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਜਗਤ ਸਭ ਤਰਿਓ ।
And with the Sermons from the Granth, the world emancipated.
करि पाठ ग्रंथ जगत सभ तरिओ ।
ਜਿਹ ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਰਿਓ ।
But the emancipated were those who, day and night, recollected the Naam.
जिह निस बासुर हरि नाम उचरिओ ।
ਗੁਰ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਖਸਟਮ ਅਵਤਾਰੇ ।
Then was embodied Guru Hargobind, the sixth master,
गुर हरिगोबिंद खसटम अवतारे ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਤੇਗ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਸਟ ਪਛਾਰੇ ।
Who, with sword held high, prostrated the enemies.
जिनि पकड़ि तेग बहु दुसट पछारे ।
ਇਉਂ ਸਭ ਮੁਗਲਨ ਕਾ ਮਨ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ।
He made the minds of Muslim rulers demented,
इउं सभ मुगलन का मन बउराना ।
ਤਬ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਸੋਂ ਦੁੰਦ ਰਚਾਨਾ ।
And for the sake of his devotees he rose and initiated (upon them) the war of attrition.
तब हरि भगतन सों दुंद रचाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੧।
O my True Guru, You grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुरु मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२१।
ਸਪਤਮ ਮਹਿਲ ਅਗਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ।
The Impervious God personified (Guru) Har Rai as the seventh Master.
सपतम महिल अगम हरि राइआ ।
ਜਿਨ ਸੁੰਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਗ ਕਮਾਇਆ ।
He had ascertained from the Desireless Lord, and achieved the significance.
जिन सुंन धिआन करि जोग कमाइआ ।
ਚੜ੍ਹਿ ਗਗਨ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਈ ।
Ascending from the celestial cave he remained absorbed (in the Almighty).
चढ़ि गगन गुफा महि रहिओ समाई ।
ਜਹ ਬੈਠ ਅਡੋਲ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਈ ।
And always sat unperturbed in contemplation.
जह बैठ अडोल समाधि लगाई ।
ਸਭ ਕਲਾ ਖੈਂਚ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਪਤ ਰਹਾਯੰ ।
Acquired all the faculties but remained latent.
सभ कला खैंच करि गुपत रहायं ।
ਤਹਿ ਅਪਨ ਰੂਪ ਕੋ ਨਹਿਂ ਦਿਖਲਾਯੰ ।
And to none he revealed his personal-self.
तहि अपन रूप को नहिं दिखलायं ।
ਇਉਂ ਇਸ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਗੁਬਾਰ ਮਚਾਇਓ ।
Thus, he elevated the prominence of the Holy Spirit.
इउं इस परकार गुबार मचाइओ ।
ਤਹ ਦੇਵ ਅੰਸ ਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਚਮਕਾਇਓ ।
The potent and courageous (Guru) Harkrishan became the eighth Master,
तह देव अंस को बहु चमकाइओ ।
ਹਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਭਯੋ ਅਸਟਮ ਬਲ ਬੀਰਾ ।
Who abandoned his temporal being at Delhi.
हरिक्रिसन भयो असटम बल बीरा ।
ਜਿਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਿ ਦੇਹਲੀ ਤਜਿਓ ਸਰੀਰਾ ।
Becoming apparent, at the age of innocence, he displayed ingenuity,
जिन पहुंचि देहली तजिओ सरीरा ।
ਬਾਲ ਰੂਪ ਧਰਿ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗ ਰਚਾਇਓ ।
And serenely relinquished the body and ascended (to the heavenly abode).
बाल रूप धरि स्वांग रचाइओ ।
ਤਬ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਧਾਇਓ ।
Thus, slamming ignominy on the heads of Mughal Rulers,
तब सहिजे तन को छोडि सिधाइओ ।
ਇਉ ਮੁਗਲਨਿ ਸੀਸ ਪਰੀ ਬਹੁ ਛਾਰਾ ।
He, Himself, reached the Court of Righteousness with honour.
इउ मुगलनि सीस परी बहु छारा ।
ਵੈ ਖੁਦ ਪਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ।
Thence on Aurangzeb initiated the altercation,
वै खुद पति सो पहुंचे दरबारा ।
ਔਰੰਗੇ ਇਹ ਬਾਦ ਰਚਾਇਓ ।
And earned the desolation of his lineage.
औरंगे इह बाद रचाइओ ।
ਤਿਨ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੁਲ ਸਭ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਾਇਓ ।
By quarrelling and squabbling the Mughals decimated each others;
तिन अपना कुल सभ नास कराइओ ।
ਇਉ ਠਹਕਿ ਠਹਕਿ ਮੁਗਲਨਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਝਾਰੀ ।
That was the way, all the sinners trailed to the hell.
इउ ठहकि ठहकि मुगलनि सिरि झारी ।
ਫੁਨ ਹੋਇ ਪਾਪੀ ਵਹ ਨਰਕ ਸਿਧਾਰੀ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
फुन होइ पापी वह नरक सिधारी ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੨।
O my True Guru, You grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुर मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२२।
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਤਾਜਾ ।
Above us all, Guru Nanak is the paramount,
गुरू नानक सभ के सिरताजा ।
ਜਿਹ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਾਜਾ ।
Meditating on whom, all the missions are accomplished.
जिह कउ सिमरि सरे सभ काजा ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗ ਰਚਾਯੰ ।
Then Guru Tegh Bahadur performed the wonderment;
गुरू तेग बहादर स्वांग रचायं ।
ਜਿਹ ਅਪਨ ਸੀਸ ਦੇ ਜਗ ਠਹਰਾਯੰ ।
Liberated the world by sacrificing his head.
जिह अपन सीस दे जग ठहरायं ।
ਇਸ ਬਿਧਿ ਮੁਗਲਨ ਕੋ ਭਰਮਾਇਓ ।
This way, left the Mughals in bewilderment,
इस बिधि मुगलन को भरमाइओ ।
ਤਬ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਲ ਨ ਜਨਾਇਓ ।
As he did not demonstrate the power of his manifestation,
तब सतिगुरु अपना बल न जनाइओ ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੁਕਮ ਬੂਝਿ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ।
And acquiescing to the God's Will he realised the Heavenly Court.
प्रभु हुकम बूझि पहुंचे दरबारा ।
ਤਬ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕੀਨੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਅਪਾਰਾ ।
The True Guru, thus revealed his kind indulgence.
तब सतिगुरु कीनी मिहर अपारा ।
ਇਉਂ ਮੁਗਲਨ ਕੋ ਦੋਖ ਲਗਾਨਾ ।
The Mughals were declared as guilty,
इउं मुगलन को दोख लगाना ।
ਹੋਇ ਖਰਾਬ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ।
And with admonishment they were invalidated.
होइ खराब खपि गए निदाना ।
ਇਉਂ ਨਉਂ ਮਹਿਲੋਂ ਕੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ।
With this I have related the contrivance of the Great Masters,
इउं नउं महिलों की जुगति सुनाई ।
ਜਿਹ ਕਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਚਾਈ ।
Who, with the remembrance of God, salvaged their devotees.
जिह करि सिमरन हरि भगति रचाई ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਚਾਇ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ।
Then the whole universe offered ovation.
हरि भगति रचाइ नाम निसतारे ।
ਤਬ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਜੈਕਾਰੇ ।
तब सभ जग मै प्रगटिओ जैकारे ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੩।
O my True Guru, You grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुरु मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२३।
ਓਹ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਸਵਾਂ ਅਵਤਾਰਾ ।
Guru Gobind Singh, the Tenth incarnation,
ओह गुरु गोबिंद सिंघ दसवां अवतारा ।
ਜਿਨ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਅਜੀਤ ਸੁਧਾਰਾ ।
Who regenerated the triumphant Khalsa Panth, the righteous denomination,
जिन खालसा पंथ अजीत सुधारा ।
ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਭ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ।
Decimated all the Turk enemies,
तुरक दुसट सभ मारि बिदारे ।
ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਗੁਲਜਾਰੇ ।
Thus turned the whole earth into a subsisting garden.
सभ प्रिथवी कीनी गुलजारे ।
ਇਉਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਹਾਂ ਬਲ ਬੀਰਾ ।
Great warriors were embodied,
इउं प्रगटे सिंघ महां बल बीरा ।
ਤਿਨ ਆਗੇ ਕੋ ਧਰੈ ਨ ਧੀਰਾ ।
Whom no one could dare to confront.
तिन आगे को धरै न धीरा ।
ਫਤੇ ਭਈ ਦੁਖ ਦੁੰਦ ਮਿਟਾਏ ।
Victory predominated and all the tribulations and conflicts were erased,
फते भई दुख दुंद मिटाए ।
ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਕਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਾਏ ।
And the meditation upon the God, the Timeless, was inducted.
तह हरि अकाल का जाप जपाए ।
ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮ ਮਹਲ ਜਪਿਓ ਕਰਤਾਰਾ ।
In the first instance, the Master resolved to ruminate over the Creator,
प्रिथम महल जपिओ करतारा ।
ਤਿਨ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਕੋ ਲੀਓ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।
And then he kindled the whole universe.
तिन सभ प्रिथवी को लीओ उबारा ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ਨਰੂ ਸਭ ਤਾਰੇ ।
The devotees became resolute, and the divine light released all.
हरि भगति द्रिड़ाइ नरू सभ तारे ।
ਜਬ ਆਗਿਆ ਕੀਨੀ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੇ ।
When God invoked his command,
जब आगिआ कीनी अलख अपारे ।
ਇਉਂ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਾ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਯੰ ।
Then, they encountered the holy congregation,
इउं सति संगति का मेल मिलायं ।
ਜਹ ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਯੰ ।
To enunciate the admiration of the Lord God, day and night,
जह निस बासुर हरि हरि गुन गायं ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੪।
O my True Guru, You grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुरु मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२४।
ਤੂੰ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਵਾ ।
Magnanimously, You, the formless, are the Unsustained Holy Spirit.
तूं अलख अपार निरंजन देवा ।
ਜਿਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਸਿਵ ਲਖੈ ਨ ਭੇਵਾ ।
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva could not unravel your mystery.
जिह ब्रहमा बिसनु सिव लखै न भेवा ।
ਤੁਮ ਨਾਥ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਗਹਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੇ ।
You, my Lord, are faultless and contemplative.
तुम नाथ निरंजन गहर गंभीरे ।
ਤੁਮ ਚਰਨਨਿ ਸੋਂ ਬਾਂਧੇ ਧੀਰੇ ।
With the touch of Your feet, grant us endurance,
तुम चरननि सों बांधे धीरे ।
ਅਬ ਗਹਿ ਪਕਰਿਓ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ।
As I have sought the protection of Your Court.
अब गहि पकरिओ तुमरा दरबारा ।
ਜਿਉਂ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉਂ ਲੇਹੁ ਸੁਧਾਰਾ ।
What ever may be the means, please regenerate us,
जिउं जानहु तिउं लेहु सुधारा ।
ਹਮ ਕਾਮੀ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੀ ਅਤਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ।
The ones sunk in lust, avarice, and falsehood.
हम कामी क्रोधी अति कूड़िआरे ।
ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਬਖਸਨਹਾਰੇ ।
You, my Master, are the exonerator,
तुम ही ठाकुर बखसनहारे ।
ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ।
And without You none empathizes with us,
नहीं कोई तुम बिनु अवरु हमारा ।
ਜੋ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਹਮਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਾ ।
To provide us with sustenance.
जो करि है हमरी प्रतिपारा ।
ਤੁਮ ਅਗਮ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਤੋਲ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ।
You are profound, unperturbed, unparallel and unique.
तुम अगम अडोल अतोल निराले ।
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਕੀ ਕਰਿਹੋ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ।
The whole universe is provided livelihood by You.
सभ जग की करिहो प्रतिपाले ।
ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਹੀਅਲ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ।
Your order predominates the land, water and void.
जल थल महीअल हुकम तुमारा ।
ਤੁਮ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤਰਿਓ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ।
And by reflecting upon You, whole mankind swims across.
तुम कउ सिमरि तरिओ संसारा ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੫।
O my True Guru, You grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुरु मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२५।
ਤੁਮ ਅਛਲ ਅਛੇਦ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਹਾਯੰ ।
You became known as impregnable, indiscriminate, and free of deception.
तुम अछल अछेद अभेद कहायं ।
ਜਹਾ ਬੈਠਿ ਤਖਤ ਪਰ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਯੰ ।
And from Your celestial throne, passed Your commands.
जहा बैठि तखत पर हुकम चलायं ।
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਸਰਿ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਕੋਈ ।
None other than You is our protector.
तुझ बिनु दूसरि अवर न कोई ।
ਤੁਮ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸੋਈ ।
You are the only impeccable,
तुम एको एकु निरंजन सोई ।
ਓਅੰਕਾਰ ਧਰਿ ਖੇਲ ਰਚਾਯੰ ।
Who, as the saviour of all, inaugurates the temporal play,
ओअंकार धरि खेल रचायं ।
ਤੁਮ ਆਪ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਪਤ ਰਹਾਯੰ ।
And You, Yourself, remain absolute and latent,
तुम आप अगोचर गुपत रहायं ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਖੇਲ ਅਗਮ ਨਿਰਧਾਰੇ ।
But Your unaccessible play persists with determination,
प्रभ तुमरा खेल अगम निरधारे ।
ਤੁਮ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨ੍ਯਾਰੇ ।
And, in a unique way, You sojourn all the hearts.
तुम सभ घट भीतर सभ ते न्यारे ।
ਤੁਮ ਐਸਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਖੇਲ ਬਨਾਇਓ ।
This way You produce a marvellous play,
तुम ऐसा अचरज खेल बनाइओ ।
ਜਿਹ ਲਖ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕੋ ਧਾਰਿ ਖਪਾਇਓ ।
In which You absorb hundreds of thousands of universes.
जिह लख ब्रहमंड को धारि खपाइओ ।
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂ ਲਖਿਓ ।
But without pondering over You, none will be consumed.
प्रभु तुमरा मरमु न किनहू लखिओ ।
ਜਹ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਝੂਠੇ ਧੰਦੇ ਖਪਿਓ ।
Only those get deliverance, who rely on You.
जह सभ जग झूठे धंदे खपिओ ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ।
Destitute Gurdas is Your disciple,
बिनु सिमरन ते छुटै न कोई ।
ਤੁਮ ਕੋ ਭਜੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਈ ।
And with penance and asceticism he seeks Your comfort.
तुम को भजै सु मुकता होई ।
ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਗਰੀਬ ਤੁਮਨ ਕਾ ਚੇਲਾ ।
Bless him, forgive his errors and omissions,
गुरदास गरीब तुमन का चेला ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਤੁਮ ਕਉ ਭਇਓ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ।
By accepting slave Gurdas, as Your own.
जपि जपि तुम कउ भइओ सुहेला ।
ਇਹ ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਸਭ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ।
इह भूल चूक सभ बखस करीजै ।
ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ।
गुरदास गुलाम अपना करि लीजै ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੬।
O my True Guru, you grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुरु मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२६।
ਇਹ ਕਵਨ ਕੀਟ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ।
Who is this Gurdas, The poor creature?
इह कवन कीट गुरदास बिचारा ।
ਜੋ ਅਗਮ ਨਿਗਮ ਕੀ ਲਖੈ ਸੁਮਾਰਾ ।
He narrates about the inaccessible body-corporate.
जो अगम निगम की लखै सुमारा ।
ਜਬ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ।
When he is bestowed with the understanding by the Guru,
जब करि किरपा गुर बूझ बुझाई ।
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਕਥਾ ਉਚਾਰਿ ਸੁਨਾਈ ।
He expounds this anecdote.
तब इह कथा उचारि सुनाई ।
ਜਿਹ ਬਿਨ ਹੁਕਮ ਇਕ ਝੁਲੈ ਨ ਪਾਤਾ ।
Without His command, blows not a leaf,
जिह बिन हुकम इक झुलै न पाता ।
ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਈ ਜੇ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ।
And happens whatever the Contriver wills.
फुनि होइ सोई जे करै बिधाता ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਰੇ ।
At His Command is the entire universe.
हुकमै अंदरि सगल अकारे ।
ਬੁਝੈ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਪਾਰੇ ।
The ones who comprehend the order, swim across.
बुझै हुकम सु उतरै पारे ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਹੇਸਾ ।
Under the Command exist all the gods, humans and animals.
हुकमै अंदरि ब्रहम महेसा ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਸੇਸਾ ।
In the Command abide (the deities), Brahma and Mahesh.
हुकमै अंदरि सुर नर सेसा ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਬਨਾਯੰ ।
And Command creates the Vishnu.
हुकमै अंदरि बिसनु बनायं ।
ਜਿਨ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਾਇ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਲਗਾਯੰ ।
Under Command temporal courts are held.
जिन हुकम पाइ दीवान लगायं ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧਰਮ ਰਚਾਯੰ ।
The Command advances the religious consciousness.
हुकमै अंदरि धरम रचायं ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਉਪਾਯੰ ।
With the Command, Indra, the king of gods, is enthroned.
हुकमै अंदरि इंद्र उपायं ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਸਿ ਅਰੁ ਸੂਰੇ ।
The sun and moon survive with His Command.
हुकमै अंदरि ससि अरु सूरे ।
ਸਭ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕੀ ਬਾਂਛਹਿ ਧੂਰੇ ।
And aspire for the blessings of Har's feet.
सभ हरि चरण की बांछहि धूरे ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸਾ ।
In the Command continue the earth and the skies.
हुकमै अंदरि धरनि अकासा ।
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ।
Birth and death come not without His Command.
हुकमै अंदरि सासि गिरासा ।
ਜਿਹ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੋਈ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ।
One who understands the Command achieves eternity.
जिह बिना हुकम कोई मरै न जीवै ।
ਬੂਝੈ ਹੁਕਮ ਸੋ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥੀਵੈ ।
बूझै हुकम सो निहचल थीवै ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
And thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰਾ ।੨੭।
O my True Guru, you grant me redemption.
हे सतिगुरु मुहि लेहु उबारा ।२७।
ਇਹ ਵਾਰ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਨੀਤੇ ।
This Epic of Bhagauti is prominently sacred,
इह वार भगउती महां पुनीते ।
ਜਿਸ ਉਚਰਤਿ ਉਪਜਤਿ ਪਰਤੀਤੇ ।
Sermonising which, (sublime) perception is revealed.
जिस उचरति उपजति परतीते ।
ਜੋ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਗਾਵੈ ।
Those, who will embrace this Epic,
जो इस वार सों प्रेम लगावै ।
ਸੋਈ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਿਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ।
Will get their mental desires fulfilled.
सोई मन बांछित फल पावै ।
ਮਿਟਹਿਂ ਸਗਲ ਦੁਖ ਦੁੰਦ ਕਲੇਸਾ ।
All the adversities, conflicts and bickering will be erased.
मिटहिं सगल दुख दुंद कलेसा ।
ਫੁਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੈਂ ਬਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਪਰਵੇਸਾ ।
The sacred manifestation descends, and one gets contentment.
फुन प्रगटैं बहु सुख परवेसा ।
ਜੋ ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਰਟਹਿਂ ਇਹ ਵਾਰੇ ।
One who recites this Epic day and night,
जो निस बासुर रटहिं इह वारे ।
ਸੋ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਧੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ।
Will realise the internal court of Har.
सो पहुंचे धुर हरि दरबारे ।
ਇਹ ਵਾਰ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਸਮਾਪਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ।
Thus the Epic of Bhagauti is completed.
इह वार भगउती समापति कीनी ।
ਤਬ ਘਟ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਚੀਨੀ ।
Through its knowledge the creator is recognised,
तब घट बिदिआ की सभ बिधि चीनी ।
ਇਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਏ ਦਿਆਲਾ ।
Only then the True Guru becomes benevolent,
इउ सतिगुरु साहिब भए दिआला ।
ਤਬ ਛੂਟ ਗਏ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ।
And all the perplexities are ridden.
तब छूट गए सभ ही जंजाला ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਗਿਰਧਾਰੇ ।
O God, Almighty, do me a favour,
करि किरपा प्रभ हरि गिरधारे ।
ਤਹਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਬਾਂਹ ਭਉਜਲ ਸੋਂ ਤਾਰੇ ।
Hold my arm and enable me to swim across the temporal sea.
तहि पकड़ि बांह भउजल सों तारे ।
ਇਉਂ ਕਰਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ।
Thus exclaimed Gurdas;
इउं करि है गुरदास पुकारा ।
